Stopped by for a good local breakfast. I was a bit confused at first because, while there was a lady standing behind the counter, she wanted me to sit down to take my order. She was super quiet and reserved, but not rude. I ordered their breakfast bowl with a side of fruit, as well as a cup of coffee. Food: All of the food was quite good and well seasoned. I didn’t get the impression that anything was pre-packaged, except maybe the potatoes at the bottom of the base. If they WERE pre-made, it seems as though the chef modified them a bit, as they were really good. The gravy was a bit salty, but clearly house-made, and the scrambled eggs were fresh, as well. My fruit salad wasn’t just your typical melon and pineapple, but included raspberries, blackberries, watermelon, and more, though none of them in huge quantities. The English muffin was amazing, and not your typical diner-grade. It was thick and crispy where it should be, while being chewy in the middle. When I asked for jelly, I wasn’t just given a plastic smuckers container like most places. This stuff was jam and really good. Service Eh. My waitress wasn’t very attentive. She was super quiet, and didn’t bother to refill my coffee until I asked her to, even though it was half full when she delivered my food. Overall, the food was really good, but the service was lacking. Food was good enough to earn 5 stars on its own. Service knocked a star off. Still recommend.

I really wanted to like this cute café by the river, but just wasn’t impressed. It was no different the second time I visited two-months later. Waitress was friendly, but food was slow. It wasn’t too busy while I was there either. The food was edible, but depressing. My omelette looked as if it were made from two eggs, not three, and was greasy and rubbery. Very little filling inside. The side potatoes were shredded with too much seasoning to taste like Lays BBQ chips, and the fruit plate is sad and small. Around 1 of each type of berry and a slice of unripened watermelon. My friend had the french toast and it was better, but really just average for what I would expect from a breakfast place. I wouldn’t mind the price if everything was made at least as good as a regular diner, but the food here just wasn’t up to par.

DELICIOUS!!! Fabulous service and really great food and presentation. They were able to handle our group of 14 with great finesse. It took a little long bc we had such a large table but we had a great time with mimosas and great coffee and tea. They ran out of hollandaise sauce for the eggs benedict but I substituted with their homemade sausage gravy and it was the BEST decision! Sooooooo tasty!!! Everyone wanted my dish even when their dishes were great. The waitress Sherry was so wonderful. Please request her to have a great experience.

Stopped in for breakfast on a Saturday morning. The café has a really cute atmosphere, more updated than your usual diner. I ordered a waffle and my companion ordered the create your own omelet. His omelet came out in a timely manner but I had to wait an additional 10 minutes or so for my waffle, oh well I understand these things happens. Both breakfast entrees were tasty and the coffee was good too. As a former resident of Corn Hill I do wish this place was around when I lived there, because you can stop in and grab just a cup of coffee or espresso at the counter. Side note… Parking as always in this area can be a hassle but were able to find a spot right in the lot.

Great prices! I ordered a breakfast sandwich that came with hash browns for only $ 6! It was very tasty and a large portion for the price. It’s a cute café set up. The service was good and our waitress was attentive. If I was back in the area I would go back. I wish I was in the mood for a dessert breakfast because their chocolate chip cookie dough pancakes looked amazing as did the Godiva Chocolate waffle… I guess I will have to get that next time :)

Terrrrrrrrible service. Very disappointing. The most disappointing factor for me is that I live in the apartments right upstairs. We used to come here in 2014, but the chef left and the food has been terrible ever since. It is now September 2015 and I wanted to try again to see if the food has come back. I cannot say because we never got a chance to eat. We waited for 10 minutes without seeing anyone. I went into the restaurant to ask if they were still serving lunch. I literally stood in front of an older woman for three minutes while she worked furiously at the computer ignoring me the entire time.(Rude. Even if you’re busy, take the 2 seconds to say, be right with you). Clearly they are understaffed as she proceeded to explain that she is still waiting to get waters out to most of the tables inside the restaurant before she can start outside. No thanks, I’ll cut my losses at 15 minutes.

Stopped here on a whim during a bike ride along the river. The menu looked intriguing, so my hubby and I decided to give it a try. I spent the entire meal shooing flies and fruit flies away from my food. Speaking of the food, my husband ordered a turkey sandwich with cucumbers, lettuce, and other salady items; it was served heated on grilled bread, which made the lettuce and cukes soggy and gross. I ordered fruit and mascarpone stuffed French toast; the three slices of flavorless brioche were layered with six or seven fresh raspberries, three skinny slices of a strawberry, and a tiny dab of white stuff that I guess was supposed to be the mascarpone. It was all so dry and flavorless that I had to ask for butter and syrup. I also noticed that another couple dining there left most of the food on their plates. Guess I should’ve said yes when my hubby first suggested Tony D’s.

Very rude service. Saturday morning at 10:30, party of 5 arrives for breakfast. The owner/hostess tells us if we don’t have a reservation, we will have to eat outside. Fine, but there are plenty of tables inside the restaurant that are empty. Whatever. We are seated and wait 10 min for waters and menus. Once the hostess returned we asked for coffee. She brought the coffee and then went to fetch cream and sugar. After waiting for coffee fixings for 15 minutes and still no service, we had to leave. Half an hour wait with next to no service is unacceptable. Harvest café, get it together– I would be happy to return and update my review.

So I love their food, but today I didn’t even get to eat there. Granted it was a little busy after the color run … There were plenty of tables inside, but my party of 5 was banished to the outdoors. It took over 10 mins to get water, another 5 for coffee, and before the cream & sugar even came out, we left. In total we waited a half hour! The woman who was possibly the owner was rude, inattentive & obviously overwhelmed.

I originally came here for breakfast. Then I saw the lunch menu and noticed the bison burger. I’ve never had bison so I went for it. We also ordered the caprese panini. The bison burger was so juicy and tender. It has to be in the top three burgers I’ve eaten all time(I eat cheeseburgers a lot). The garlic parmesan potatoe wedges were amazing. I almost ordered some to go at the end of the meal but then didn’t want to sound weird. We both thoroughly enjoyed the caprese panini. I would like to try their breakfast next time. The atmosphere is very comfortable. We sat on the second level which was neat. Our server was great with giving us suggestions and very nice.

I must be in a really good mood, because I’m doling out 5 star reviews like they are candy on halloween. Harvest Café has become my weekend brunch place, and where I go to get my morning coffee on the way to work. The food is always delicious, whether you want pancakes, french toast, eggs benedict, or a multitude of delicious breakfast favorites. However, my favorite thing here will always be the Corned Beef Hash, made with fresh, shredded corned beef. You can sub the hash in for basically any side, which is amazing. How have you not tried this place for breakfast/brunch yet?

I give a 5 stars for the first visit and 3 stars for the second. I went 2 days in a row. The first visit my waitress on 12⁄28 at 12:30(brunette with straight hair) was honestly one of the best waitresses I’ve had in a long time. She came to the table at the right time every single time & I was by myself which is hard to do. I lived in Los Angeles for 5 years and have missed the food dearly. This is the best breakfast place I’ve been to in the past 2 years. Not to mention I got the 5 star quality breakfast meal for a 2 star price. I spent 10 $ for French toast, fruit plate, 3 eggs, ham, potatoes(best chopped potatoes) and sourdough toast. Enough food for 2 people if you ask me but everything was placed so nicely and tasted amazing. I’d go here every day If she was serving! Visit #2 I took my boyfriend here because he was working the day before and are waiter was just plain rude. He has a sarcastic tone that was not pleasant at all and he didn’t know the menu. I felt stupid for trying to order what I did they day before because he said it doesn’t come with those sides and so I tried to substitute the eggs for potatoes and he said that’s weird but ok. Turned out that the trio does come with potatoes like the server did yesterday. The service can really do a number on the quality of the restaurant but the food is worth it either way.

My husband and I came here for lunch on a Sunday. The place had maybe 30% of their tables actively sitting diners. Our waiter was new and didn’t know where to guide us to the selection of coffee on their menu. After we ordered our food, which is probably more expensive than average, we waited about 45 minutes for my French toast with a side of fruit and sausage patty, and my husband’s steak Benedict with a side of hash browns. When the food arrived, we found that the fruit platter had spoiled grapes, shriveled blueberries, a few fresh raspberries, and two very thin slices of pineapple with the rind still intact and rind debris all over the cut face of the fruit. The French toast was stale, soggy, and gummy with not much flavor. The maple syrup is some cheap maple-flavored sauce and to get real maple syrup they charge $ 1.95. The sausage patty was a sad looking piece of meat hastily smashed into an unappealing shape, with no flavor, and it was dry. My husband’s Benedict was okay but we wouldn’t order it again. The hash browns it came with were greasy and mushy. A picture of the sad mess is posted here. We debated telling the waiter because we don’t like to complain about food, but after 20 minutes I finally worked up the courage to tell him as politely as I could the complaints that we had. He rudely replied, «Well, you could have called me over any time,» and hastily cleared our table in a huff. The host came to our table shortly after and asked us, «What’s the issue?» It seemed like an odd way to apologize to the customer for terrible food, but again I politely explained why we were disappointed, and she offered a 15% discount on our check. We were too nice to demand a comp on the food so we accepted the offer, but honestly that meal was a waste of our time and money. If it were busier, I might have been more understanding, but the place was nearly deserted by the time we got our food and the whole experience was disappointing. We will not be visiting again.

Good menu and ambiance. Slooooowwww service. Food was good but the shredded potatoes were soggy and undercooked. Bananas Foster pancakes were good. Salmon Benny was good but needed more salmon. The maple bacon side had no trace of maple but was well cooked. They may need to look at new management to get service up to par.

First and LAST time here. Arrived around noon with my sister, her boyfriend, and my husband. After deciding what to order, THEN we were informed that only breakfast was being served on Sundays. No where on the menu did it specify times for breakfast vs lunch. The waitress even pointed to a sign outside about serving breakfast only, and we took a pic of the sign that said«expanded menu»(included in this review). By the time our waitress came back for our order it was 12:30pm. Our food finally arrived by 1pm; not to mention we saw others arrive after us being half way through their meal before we were served. Plus we asked the waitress if we could order dessert, and we never heard from her again on the topic. Another waitress was kind enough to refill our water. Service aside, food was ok, but not mind-blowing. The side of shredded seasoned potatoes was small in portion and season-less, not to mention borderline raw. My table ordered 3 of 4 flavors of mimosas that were ok; arguably on the strong-side(for my sister this was a plus since she got a buzz half way through her drink). My sister would also like me to mention that she liked the way her toast was buttered; corner to corner and not soggy. To conclude: 1) Will I come back again? No. 2) Would I recommend this place to a friend? Never. 3) Would I recommend this place to my worst enemy? Maybe. P. S. Forgot to mention our silverware wasn’t fully cleaned. I don’t need to guess what the people before me ate.

Really enjoyed my purple gravy hash and steak breakfast, but service needed a lot of improvement. We ordered two morning sandwiches and they forgot about the fried egg I. When we asked them, they took back the sandwich and plopped an egg into the sandwich. It just didn’t taste the same. Hot egg, cold foods. Hmm. The bill was given shortly after our foods arrived, while we were in the middle of conversation. I’m sorry, but aside from their verbal etiquette«excuse me, sorry, may I reach over you», etc, their actions spoke way louder. The food was decent, but if you want a nice relaxed brunch without waiters hurrying you through…

I’d give the Harvest Café an honest 3.5, but I’m still in the the holiday spirit so I’ll round up to 4. I love brunch and I love finding new brunch places. I firmly believe the Harvest Café has the potential to be a great brunch spot for us, but I just didn’t order the right thing. I got the ratatouille omelet and it was actually pretty gross. I kind of hated it. Who am I kidding — I hated it. But! They subbed out my potatoes for some really delicious fresh fruit and who can mess up toast? I didn’t leave hungry, just disappointed. My boyfriend was quite happy with his food, but they did get his order wrong. He wound up with the potatoes, which he didn’t want, but they were awesome and effectively made me jealous of my healthier choice. Our server was very nice and helpful and the environment was clean, spacious, and warm. The coffee was definitely better than your typical diner coffee, so that’s a huge plus for us. I am willing to go back for another try, but I would certainly make a different choice. There was an extensive french toast selection, and I think I’ll go with the brie stuffed french toast. Making the healthy choice clearly didn’t pay off for me last time, so I’ll take a different route on my next visit.

Real rating: 2.5 stars — if Jines is your top pick for brunch, this is more a 4 stars place for you. I have been to Harvest Café 3x now — twice for lunch(takeout) and once for brunch. Parking can be a nightmare here(if you park across the street, be reassured that you will be towed faster than you can say«That was a mistake.»). However, I went at 11:30am for lunch and there were spots in the lot. Lunch: I ordered the Orchard Salad entrée both times for consistency’s sake(and for my health too, I guess!). The first time the greens were bright and crisp. The dressing was tart and went perfectly with the salad. It was also served on the side(good call on their part). It was an epic looking salad that tasted delicious and I liked it enough to order it again. The second time, the greens were a little old and I found some lettuce stubs in there — not a very appetizing salad. Both times, the walnuts tasted raw — they were not candied(as stated on the menu) and probably not toasted either. My friend ordered the Roasted Chicken and Vegetable Consommé and the Harvest Salad with chicken added on(an extra $ 4 — not worth it for how much she got) to go. Later, I got an irate text about how the soup tasted burnt and she couldn’t eat it(and she is one of the least picky eaters I know). She brought it home to her significant other who also said it tasted extremely burnt and unpleasant. Perhaps the chicken was roasted for too long? I found out later that you can ask to sample the soup so I recommend doing that prior to ordering. Brunch: I was the first to arrive. I told the server we have 8 to 10 people. I got some attitude from the manager/server and a «We must know whether it is 8 or 10 people»…how about you set up a table for 8 and just have 2 chairs on the end if necessary? I ordered the coffee and a create your own omelette with different vegetables. My dining companions got a variety of things from the cookie dough pancakes to over easy eggs. The cookie dough pancakes were a let down. The order came with 3 pancakes, a side of home fries(fruit was also an option) and a small dish of butter with specks of green(I am pretty sure this was a savory butter.). The menu promised ‘ribbons of chocolate’ and ‘warm maple syrup’ — these were decidedly absent. The pancake was a little dry and the cookie dough chunks had burned on the outside while cooking(to the point where they were bitter). If you are going to get diabetes from brunch, it should at least be worth the insulin shots. My omelette was okay — slightly overcooked. The deep fried homefries were well salted and crunchy on the outside. My friend who ordered the Harvest Trio left a lot of his food behind — he was not thrilled with the pancakes. My other friend got a bread tag on her plate — I am guessing they were really in a rush to put hers together. Another said his Salmon Benedict was quite good. Service was attentive but the food came out quite slowly. They were packed by the time we placed our order so we weren’t really bothered by the pace. From the crowd I saw at Harvest Café during brunch, I am guessing they are doing something right. That area needs a breakfast place badly and Harvest Café fills that gap. Their style of brunch is similar to Jines(upscale diner) and the brunch menu is varied, making it a safe bet for picky eaters/families. I also do love their Orchard Salad when they do it right. However, their lack of attention to detail(as in not delivering dishes as described on the menu) and inconsistency in quality makes it difficult to recommend them to others.

Finally a breakfast place(and in walking distance) in Corn Hill! Corn Hill has been my second home and Harvest Café is a great asset to the historic neighborhood. The menu is pretty unique, which you don’t see too often when it comes to breakfast. Lots of healthy options and not so healthy options(COOKIEDOUGHPANCAKES… I will be trying these) Service was a bit slow, but still friendly. I am sure they will pick things up a bit. Harvest Café has lots of potential and I will definitely be back.

Solid start for the Harvest Café’s soft opening this weekend. We all had good food(with a few kinks to iron out) and the menu looks great! Much to our absolute joy, they are serving breakfast and lunch 7 days a week! My husband were I totally psyched, especially for their breakfast, because there isn’t a good breakfast spot in Corn Hill. Finally we hope one has arrived! It could also be a good spot for folks to come for business meetings before heading to work, or just grabbing coffee or a breakfast sandwich in the morning. They open at 6am! I had the Corn Hill french toast and it was good. One side of one of my pieces of bread was undercooked, but still tasted good. Plenty of cinnamon and vanilla, just a funny gooey texture. Good flavor. I would give it another chance when they work out the kinks. It was served with awesome fresh fruit(pineapple, blackberry, raspberry and strawberry). I brought my own real maple syrup to avoid the $ 2 upcharge. My husband had the ratatouille omelette, which he enjoyed. I tried a bite or two and thought it was great. We didn’t notice the tomato on it and meant to ask if it was there, but forgot. His also came with the awesome fresh fruit. My brother had the steakhouse eggs benedict, which he really liked. It was served with hash browns and the delicious fresh fruit that came with everyone’s meal. My Dad had scrambled eggs, which were supposed to have cheddar cheese mixed in. Unfortunately he said his eggs were overcooked(he likes them just cooked and nice and moist) and they forgot the cheese. The chef was receptive and said they would do better next time. The bacon was only ok — nothing special. Maybe they can get a better brand(our preference would be Hartmann’s — both local and delicious!). Dad also got the yummy fresh fruit and an English muffin, which was good. My Mom had an egg over easy on a sesame bagel with cheddar cheese and caramelized onions. She said the egg, cheese & onions were delicious, but the bagel wasn’t the best; she thought it was too hard. We told the chef and he said it was fresh from a baker, but we think maybe they just need a different supplier for that. My brother also had a pumpkin spice latte, which he really enjoyed. Tea selection was average, but we brought our own tea and teapot, so that was fine. They definitely need to get their own large teapots so we don’t need to bring our own every time, though. =) All the egg folks at the table had wanted the organic, cage free eggs advertised on the menu. The owner said it would be 50 cents extra per egg, which we thought was fair. However, the kitchen was out of them, so that was a bummer. Seating was fine with padded wood chairs. They also had nice wood tables. I would love to see more comfy seating(cushy chairs, like Erie Grill, or booths) in the future. Décor is nice and has an earthy feeling; huge step up from New Taj! They did nice renovations. They also have free wifi now, which is great. Chef seemed nice and fairly receptive to our suggestions. It was their 4th day, and as I said, just a «soft-opening» so we will definitely be back to try more.
