Reuben was filled with tender corned beef, good onion rings. The french onion soup was crammed with bread cubes, and piled with cheese, not so much onion in there though. Their pesto bread had hearty helpings of pesto and cheese too. I heard the salads that were ordered were delicious, they had a plethora of toppings. Decent beer selection, the service was quick and friendly. It was prime rib night and it looked so good, on the list for the next visit.

Food quality has really gone down here. Not sure what happened but it is not the same. Unfortunate cause this used to be one of my favorite restaurants.

According to Unilocal, they are closed today, but I assure you they are open on Sundays. I’ve been here many times and it is consistently good. I suggest getting the pesto bread appetizer and the French onion soup. I think you’d be safe with anything, I’ve never had a bad meal here. The French onion soup is probably the best I’ve ever had. The broth has the perfect balance of sweet and salty and the right amount of bubbling cheese and onions. We also had the ravioli which comes with a chunky tomato sauce with vegetables… we instead got it with plain marinara and the other sauce on the side. The vegetable tomato sauce would be too chunky and overwhelm the ravioli so we were happy about our choice of marinara. The price of the raviolis is $ 18 and I think that is WAY too high. They’re only filled with cheese, no meat. It’s usually very busy so it can get super loud. We usually always eat at the bar, but tonight was way too noisy so we opted for a dining table(which is extremely rare). The dining area was very dark and that makes it difficult to read the menu. They light candles around 5 p.m. at each table, but that still isn’t enough light. The parking lot is small and can be difficult to park if you arrive at a busy time. you will end up parking on the street, if there’s room!

Food is always good here, especially the Sunday brunch! The atmosphere is good, only downfall is if you are seated in the bar area on a busy night you can barley have a conversation with the people at your table because its so loud. Overall this is a great local place!

Out for a bite one day while shopping w/my dh. We walked into Winfield Grill & was greeted AND seated within a few minuets. Loved the old time, rustic décor. Old fashioned tin ceilings & big chunky wooden tables a crystal chandelier in one dinning room. Fun place. Had a hamburger, plain & simple with tomato, onion & lettuce with sweet potato fries. Ordered it medium well and low & behold, it actually came that way! My dh had soup and salad & he loved it. Have no idea what soup he had. I was busy eating my yummy hamburger & fries. They have an extensive & interesting menu that feature American fare including daily specials. The prices not bad. . The wait staff was most accommodating to our needs. It took a long time for the food to come out possibly because the place was just slammed as we arrived. The waitresses(yes, two of them) were very good at checking on us(tapping on the table always helps w/attention getting). One pm might be a better time to eat here. I think it was a pretty nice place with well prepared food and great service and reasonable prices. It also has a nice bar if you have a desire for a nice calming drink after shopping w/your dh for a new rug. Would like to return to try more of the extensive menu. Will write an update than.

Stopped in to Winfield Grill after work for what we were hoping was a fairly quick dinner. After an hour and twenty minutes we finally made it out. It took a very long time to get served our soup and salad and even longer to get a burger and chicken sandwich. It’s sad to say that the salad was the highlight of the meal. The veggies were fresh and the ranch was great. The French onion soup was alright, but the onions were too large and slightly crunchy. And both of the main courses were overcooked. My burger was well over medium(no pink to see) and my husband’s buffalo chicken sandwich was burnt. Additionally, our French fries were cold. Definitely seemed like the kitchen staff could be improved.

Again, it’s been some time since I’ve been to the Winfield. From the looks of my prior review, about two years. Not much has changed. Still a raucous bar scene but a nice place to hang out if you are with friends or even just want to watch one of the more than 16 TVs overhead(at least they play something different on each TV). The menu hasn’t changed much. My favorite is still the Reuben. I always favor the Cajun fries though they weren’t as spicy as in the past. A bit of a disappointment there. I tried a fish fry, which was unusual to say the least to be on the menu on a Wednesday evening but the beer battered fish was tasty and fresh. I’ve had better, but I’ve had much worse so I’m upgrading my rating from 3 to 4 stars. Our waitress was a delight and I think the personal service received is a big reason for why I’m a fan. That and the fact that the Winfield is one of the few places in town that serves food late is a reason I always like it.

Always a solid choice. Good good, nice clean bar and restaurant. Always busy but not a long wait. Recently renovated.

I love it here. I love the new bar it’s always busy and loud so if you don’t like either then this place might not be for you. The staff is super friendly and of course the classic Winfield buffalo bites are a must try if you haven’t had them. The food is always consistent here and it’s in a great area if the bar gets too crowded then you can hop across the street to Wintonnaire or next door to Mayfields. Winfield is a classic in this area.

Winfield has my heart again. I came here for brunch on Sunday and was pleasantly surprised. Two complimentary mimosas with any entrée purchase sounded like an incredible deal. The menu had a wide range of options. I would feel comfortable bringing someone with a lot of dietary restrictions to this brunch without them having to worry about modifying an order. I ordered the breakfast burrito which had egg whites, turkey sausage, feta cheese and a bunch of other stuff. The burrito was sinful and came with actual fresh fruit. Friend ordered the special which was a shrimp frittata and oh my goodness. He didn’t finish his meal so I finished it for him… it was that good. The mimosas were delicious and strong. A little too strong for my lightweight self. I’ll definitely come back for more brunches. Also the prices were very reasonable, brunches for two including tip was 25 bucks.

My wife and I have been going here for 17 years. Back before the bar was renovated and expanded. Back when the Buffalo Bites were $ 5.95(best deal in Rochester 6 years ago). We’ve eaten here or gotten take out probably 200x. For a stretch with the old owners, all the waitresses knew what we ordered. They have a good bar area that gets a good crowd on Fri and Sat nights. Decent draft selection and sight lines for watching sports. Fri night they have a popular, tasty, fish fry. My wife used to order the Chicken French all the time but they changed the recipe a bit. The portions are large for their dinners which include a salad. We’ve tried just about everything on the menu. We still eat there occasionally but do take out more often of late… mostly wings, buffalo bites, etc. I feel they have some of the best, consistent, wings in Rochester. If they had outside seating, we would go in the summer more. As long as we live in the area, we’ll keep going.

Definitely a great place to go for lunch and drinks at the bar. The large bar is open, and a nice place to catch up with a friend you have’t seen in a while. The food was decent — standard American fare — sandwiches and fries. If you’re in the mood for something simple and a place you can chill for a little while Winfield is a good choice. My drink of choice was easily made and tasted great. I can definitely see myself coming back with friends or even by myself. Located in a great city neighborhood, their is ample parking on street and in their private lot. The bathrooms are clean too.

I’ve been to this grill a few time. I normally come for Sunday brunch. Which I have enjoyed each time. This time I stopped in on a Thursday night after work. After about a 15 minute wait we went to our table it was very dimly lit very nice for the atmosphere not very good for reading a menu. The food was good. The fried chicken was good but the sweet potato fries are hands down my favorite thing. And I took a side of granny sauce home with me it was so good. I was not very impressed by the Winfield sangria. The wait staff was very night. I will differently go back for dinner.

I’m a big fan of the bar area at Winfield. It’s spacious, has a great atmosphere, and the bartenders are decent. I’ve had various drinks there and they’re all great. The food is good but nothing to brag about. I’ve had better burgers, fries, nachos, and wings elsewhere. If you go to Winfield, go primarily for a couple drinks with great friends. You won’t be dissappointed.

Very nice restaurant /bar. Décor has an elegant yet comfortable feel. Food was typical Rochester fair, fresh and delicious. All the servers were extremely friendly and helpful with the wiggly baby with us. Parking was limited but will absolutely go back here.

It is rare when we go to the same restaurant twice in a couple of months but to go two weeks in a row is highly unusual. Last week we went to the Winfield for burgers on a busy Friday night and had a typical good experience but last night it was really poor and I need to call it out. Perhaps it was just a bad night. Not only did we have to wait close to 45 minutes for our entrees after placing the order(and multiple inquires to the waitress) but the fries were cold with our fish fries. Since the service was so slow and we had plans we did not send back the fries. Also the vegetables with one of the entrees was super garlicy and I love garlic but whoa too much. It seemed to be a typical busy Friday night so not sure what was up with the kitchen… And we really wanted this place to be our neighborhood go-to spot…

I came again for brunch, and because we came later, my friend and I were down to try their brunch cocktail menu along with our ginormous breakfast dishes. As I stated in my previous review, I like the Winfield for the food, and the restaurant ambience. As a bar, no thanks. Too much of a loud, «bro» vibe for this girl! But alas, I came for brunch, so let’s discuss! I had the ‘western style’ omelet, subbing crumbled sausage for the ham, and it came with onions and peppers, and asked for an egg white omelet instead of the whole egg. This thing was massive, and came with toast and home fries. I wish they offered a little cup of salsa with the omelet, which it was very filling and tasty, it could have benefitted from a little kick of spice to really take it up a notch. The breakfast sausage is good, but nothing remarkable as I couldn’t really taste any spices in the sausage itself(if there were any). My friend and I sat in the bar at a high top, and watched as the bar became quite busy and lively as the clocked ticked 12p and later! Blame the complimentary mimosas! Our waitress asked us if we wanted some as soon as they started serving cocktails, and we happily obliged, as did many of the people around us. :) After those two, I decided to be responsible and stop(it was only 2p!), but their other brunch cocktails sounded delicious. One gripe — the pace in the bar on Sundays gets a little frenetic, so know that you may be dealing with a rowdier crowd before you finish your first cup of coffee. If quieter is more your vibe, ask to be seated on the restaurant side! I will next time! :) All in all, a good place for brunch and booze, but Winfield, please, add some fruit to the menu!

I was pleasantly surprised with my dining experience at Winfield! I’ve been here once for drinks at the bar and didn’t think twice about coming back. I’m turned off by places where the bars are jam packed and I have to squeeze my way through crowds where my nose is at armpit level. Ah, the Life of Shorties. I’ll tell my tales some other time. First, parking can be nuts. They have a parking lot but it is typically full, as well as street parking. My suggestion, go when it’s not prime time whenever that is. We came on a weekday and it was busy, but luckily found a spot in the lot. Our mission was to try the signature wings as well as get some dinner so we sat in the dining area. The ambiance feels romantic, but not the spot to have a quiet conversation to get to know someone with the bar adjacent to the room. The server and server-in-training were outgoing, friendly, and attentive. They brought out bread with garlic herb flavored butter as we waited. Yum! For starters, we ordered the Sicilian calamari which was softly battered, flaky and tender. The batter still tasted fresh even for a late night dinner. It was topped with banana peppers, kalamata olives, and grape tomatoes in a light wine based tomato sauce. A little salty with the banana peppers and parts can get soggy with all of the juices from the toppings, however overall it was good. I really enjoyed the dash of fresh parsley or cilantro which added a refreshing herb flavor to it. I ordered the Winfield reuben with sweet potato fries. The sammie was light on sauerkraut and the thick roasted turkey was tender and not dry for turkey. The thousand island dressing on the side included diced pickles which added flavor. I liked the texture of the fries but there didn’t seem to be any seasoning other than salt. A sprinkle of brown sugar would be a nice touch. Ah, the signature wings. The wings are a good size and they are crispy, juicy, and tender which I prefer over dry and extra crispy wings. The sauce is very tasty; sweet with a slight kick. It reminds me of boss sauce and country sweet. It’s excellent with the creamy light blue cheese. Just writing about it makes me crave it!

Could not get enough of the Sicilian Calamari! It’s an absolute must every time I go back! Also had the Chicken Parmesan which was incredibly delicious but the Sicilian Calamari was by far my favorite part of the meal. Very attentive service and strong drinks too!
