Who would expect a neighborhood bar to serve gourmet food? We have been there at least 5 times. Everytime has been a great experience. The owner has an interesting menu, which changes often. Servings are good portioned but not obscene. Leaves you wanting more! The charcuterie platter changes monthly. Try it for something different. Excellent selection of craft beers, which also rotate. Only downside, it can get loud. Enjoy!

A Local Restaurant/Bar with major identity issues. Reading the menu was making my mouth water, everything was worded so perfectly. The food though did not meet the same standard. My first time dining here so I always keep an open mind, especially considering it was a friday night. Our service was adequate, for the most part you had to completely finish a drink before they would even acknowledge you. The Beer menu was a very confusing list of beers highlighted(available…kinda), crossed out(not available) and not marked at all(not available yet?) I ordered the Kuma Burger that included bacon and a fried egg on a pretzel bun with a side of saugy homemade fries. They didn’t ask how i wanted it cooked so my punishment for not speaking up meant well done… The atmosphere of the place was great, they had very inviting live music and the wait staff was also very friendly, just terribly slow. I will return here and hopefully have a better experience but I will have to make sure i have plenty of time to spare next time.

I was originally going to give PIP4 stars but after thinking about it, I decided to do 5 stars. I was in the area for an event and several older family members met me for lunch. I found Poison Ivy online and took a chance, taking my mother and 2 older aunts for lunch. The staff were wonderful and very accommodating and the food was very good. I think I was the only one who didn’t finish my plate(I was doing most of the talking.). The homemade chips are delicious. As others have noted, it was kind of loud and distracting with all of the TVs on, but it was a sports bar on a Saturday in fall. What more could you expect. My only suggestion to management is to ask the waitresses to not call 50+ and 80+ women«dear» and«honey». Not very cool.

There are a lot of mixed reviews on here. My husband and I are not drinkers so we have only eaten here, but we are big fans. Last Friday we ordered fried calamari, sliders, shrimp artichoke pasta and side salads. Every part of the meal was good, even the bread and basil ranch salad dressing! They had a beautiful meat and cheese board that they brought to our table and described but we chose not to order. The staff was very helpful and really on top of things. We had at least 4 different people check in on us and service our table. The only reason this place does not get 5-stars for us is the atmosphere. It is a loud sports bar with high tops and barstools which are never the most comfortable(again, we are not bar/drink people and only go here for the food). They have booths but we don’t get seated there b/c we’re only a party of 2.

Great food. Great owner and your sports team is always on. The menu has a good selection of food choices, and breakfast is particularly good on weekends.

In a world where most restaurants just throw«food» on a plate and expect you to gush over it, Poison Ivy is a rare treat. The food is scrumptious, very creative(and I normally don’t like that kind of thing) and of the absolute highest quality. And the staff? Every time we’ve gone there, it’s nothing but smiles and helpful service. Disregard the negatives posted on here; those are the people who would win Powerball and complain that it wasn’t enough.

Food was very good when we finally got it. Absolutely terrible service to the point where we will never go back. :(. Even trying to get a drink was a chore. Hmmm. Don’t bars make $ off drinks?

Food was awesome — fresh, flavorful, cooked right and just all around good. The prices are a little high– but you’re paying for local-sourced, fresh food. The music was turned up really loud, making it very difficult to hear the person sitting right next to me. I know at least one other table near us also complained, so it wasn’t just us. They seemed a little understaffed — perhaps it was just a fluke of when we happened to come — and as a result we had to wait a bit. But they were great about keeping up with drink refills and the waitress had very helpful recommendations. All in all, a great place we’ll definitely be back to.

Came on a Saturday for lunch. It was seat yourself and pretty dead other than some regulars at the bar. We were greeted a few minutes after sitting. The waitress wasn’t awesome, rattled off some specials from a notebook which we understood none of. We ordered burgers and waited 25 minutes for our food to arrive. In that time our waitress didn’t check on us or bring us water refills. She talked to the table next to us but didn’t stop by our table to fill our empty glasses. The burgers arrived and were awesome — great taste, large in size and moist. It’s a bummer the service was so bad

Went there last night for a dinner with my husband. Was there 3 times this month, this time Steve was cussing out his waitress staff. F this f that if they don’t want to work I will punch them in the nose. He was obviously drunk and obnoxious. The food is fantastic but sadly to say we will never come back. He told his blonde bartender that she was on every drug under the sun and demanded she apologize for saying he liked as a friend one of the co workers. The other times there were incidents but not like this. Everyone in the Rockton /roscoe area know about«Steve» I will spread this word. My $ 100 meal out without children really sucked. We were only couple there along with one in the booth. By the time we left there were 6 other people there.

I used to frequent this place pretty often but if you have any issue with service or your food the owner will come out cussing up a storm and scream at you telling you to never come back. Pricey good food.

It is more than a bar, they have a clever menu with unique takes on classic items, and fresh well prepared food. They also have a good beer list, the place is just a little dark and dated. With that being said I like the joint.

I love this place, I feel always welcome by the crew members of this amazing team! Like the food and if sometimes is pricey is because the quality of the food! What else you can spect? If you want cheap and junk food go to Mac Donald’s is just a couple of blocks away!

Recently visited Poison Ivy Pub in the last month or so. Have dined there twice and have had wonderful food both times. The portions are very large so I always had leftovers for the next day or two. We went on two different Thursday nights and they had a nice Jazz ensemble playing. Service was good but food comes out a little slow. If they get busy — they could use an extra server– but the servers who do work there work very hard to please. Will be back again!

I offered the Kuma burger and my wife ordered a cheeseburger. The buns were soggy and the meat tasted odd. Steak fries were decent. It did take about 25 minutes to receive our food and it wasn’t that busy. Will not be going back.

Walked in after a party of twenty placed their order and waited an hour and a half for our food; best steak and eggs I’ve ever had for brunch.

Walked in on a busy night alone after recently relocating. This place was highly recommended by my new coworkers! I was greeted by the owner who just stared at me until I said that I was just going to the bar for a drink and dinner. I found one seat, which was expected being a busy night. The menu looked good, but the prices were outrageous for a dive looking bar! The atmosphere was that of a dive bar with Cubs memorabilia with little to no lighting. I would not have sticker shock if the atmosphere was somewhat inviting… it wasn’t! The owners friend walked in and all of a sudden another chair is squeezed into the very little elbow room I had. I began a conversation with the people next to me, including his friend until I we got interrupted by the owner who began explaining how stupid people are when they think that a 10 oz plastic cup is the same size as the glass drink glasses and they always complain because they are too drunk to see the difference. I began to debate him that guests are not dumb, but he turns and looks away. I have many years in the restaurant and bar industry and know what his gripe is, but he was going to each bar guest to interrupt them to show that it is the same amount of water in each cup. He then began to buy everyone around shots. He had 3 himself in a matter of 15 – 20 minutes. All the while completely ignoring me with a menu in my hand. I had 2 beers and completely felt unwelcome. I got my tab and was shocked to discover the 2 beers were $ 15!!! Yes, it was craft beer, but not anything like a Door County Stout or big bomber bottles. I paid and left. On the way out, the owner says to me «sorry we didn’t get to talk. Come back soon.» I did not get to try the food to review that because the owner himself ruined my experience mostly before it started. I don’t care if the food is good at this point, I will not support his business again! Nope!

I keep hearing Gordon Ramsay use the term«gastropub». I finally looked it up, read it to my wife, and we both said«Poison Ivy!». «Definition of GASTROPUB: a pub, bar, or tavern that offers meals of high quality» Poison Ivy has the best food in Roscoe, hands down. Their chipotle fish taco is the best I’ve ever had, thinking about the homemade potato chips with hot sauce and Gorgonzola cheese is seriously making my mouth water, and the Waygo hamburger… OMG, what can I say? We’ve always had outstanding meals there, every single time. There are also a LOT of excellent craft beers at PI, too, not just the BMC(Bud, Miller, Coors) swill that most bars have. Ok, so it takes a little while to get your food, and the atmosphere leaves a bit to be desired. Get over it. Don’t eat there when you’re pressed for time. Go when you can drink a fantastic beer or two and relax with friends while you’re waiting for your food – it’ll be worth it!

My wife had heard good things about this place a while back, so we checked it out, enjoyed it, and kept going back. We pop in there a couple times a month for food. It would be easy to dismiss this place as «just another bar», but that would be missing what we truly enjoy here. I’ve been surprised to see reviews about spotty service — I’ve actually found that the servers take a team approach, with multiple servers jumping in to help refill drinks, clear plates, etc… My favorite is the Buffalo Chicken wrap, but check out the specials too, as I’ve had some good one hit wonders along the way. It is a nice break from the chain restaurants that are all too common in the area.
