First time at Tara Humata in Roswell, and it was pretty good. Not perfect — the fajitas were slightly under-seasoned and a little bland. But the drinks were good, the guacamole a bit chunky but very fresh and tasty, served in a moleta(a heavy stone pestle-like bowl). The Queso Fundido was generous, nicely crisped on the bottom, and the chorizo was just right(albeit a little oily, as is all chorizo. I had a flank steak(not carne asado but similar), I forget the name, but it was very good, and the stuffed poblano and beans it came with were a pleasant surprise. We also tried another dish(geez, I can’t remember that name either) that was basically an inside-out tamale… and was also very good. So the food is good, assuming you are seeking typical americanized Mexican that almost all of us are used to. The service, by a nice young lady who appeared to be Mexican(and spoke fluent spanish) was also great. The kitched=n timed everything nicely, although it was not busy, being relatively early on a Saturday night. By the time we left, the place was ¾ full. Bottom line: Pretty good Mexican food, reasonable prices, decent service. Not San Diego fare, but definitely worth a return trip.

It is a shame that they let Eddie run this place into the ground. They have a complete new staff. But it is a little to late. The regular customers have found others places to hang out and eat. I hear they are going out of business. Feel sorry for the employees. Way to go Eddie, i told you this place was going to close because of your SORRYASS attitude!

Tara Humata is now my go to for Mexican food! The service is great, the atmosphere is fun, and the food is delicious. Our last server was very upbeat and kept us notified as to how long our food would be. The live music is always a joy to listen to! Highly recommend!

Wonderful food tonight for the four of us. Sopo de pollo, shrimp tacos, carne asada and shrimp enchiladas, along with cold Dos Equis beers really hit the spot. The grilled jalapeño pepper with the super — tender carne was the best my SIL has ever had and the shrimp tacos rivaled PURE in Woodstock. We could have all eaten the Mexican street corn side dish that came with the enchiladas as our main meal. Despite have a very large group come in while she was serving us, our server did a great job! Wonderful!

I’m surprised at the low rating this restaurant has as we have been very pleased every time we have visited recently! First off, we love Mexican food but sometimes you want something a little«different». The menu has so many options you are sure to find something you will love. Some of our favorites… carne asada-classic but done really well Shrimp enchiladas-had them tonight, absolutely delicious and the side dish of corn and spicy peppers was to die for! Molcajete– a combo of meats similar to fajita preparation served in a sizzling molcajete with a tomato sauce/broth with chorizo… and tortillas mmmmmmm. We love the live music and is great to sit and listen in the bar area and enjoy a beer or two after dinner. The service is good, lots of young folks working their way through college which I can totally appreciate. Food always seems to come out pretty quickly. This is definitely one of our new regular spots. And go see waitress Emily! She is the best!

Great atmosphere, high quality food, big beers, fun music, nice patio, reasonable prices — one of the best restaurants in the area.

The drinks are decent, the food is ok and the service varies. Typically we sit in the bar area because the service is better on that side. They have live music on some nights which is a good idea, but occasionally it is just TOOLOUD! One time we walked out before ordering dinner because the band was just too much for a Tuesday night at 7pm. Give it a shot, but sit on the bar side for better service(and bring your ear plugs)!

Incredibly average food. I think my fish tacos were cooked yesterday. My salsa was PACE picante sauce. And don’t even get me started on the band in the bar area… …I wish I could give this meal back.

Hate doing this, but what are they doing? I’ve ordered the enchiladas suiza almost every time I’ve been. I have no idea what was inside this last time but it was not the chicken filling that they have ever used. It was salsafied pulled chicken(I’m guessing for the traditional dishes) I am a loyal customer. Hoping it was a kitchen mistake and they aren’t changing the menu… Organic Rita tasted a bit like a mix… Come on Tara humatra you are awesome!

I never thought I would end up giving such a terrible review to a restaurant we truly like so much but I am TIRED of giving them my money! This is seriously the most poorly managed establishment and the service has gone so far down hill that it’s depressing. The food is still the same, which is why we have gone back, but every experience in the last 6 months has been very negative. to start, their phone number is printed just for looks because no one actually ever answers it. We had an experience so bad a few weeks back and after trying to talk with the on staff manager, who I was informed later by our waiter that he «didn’t really speak English well» and clearly didn’t give a rats ass about what happened, I tried calling and calling to no avail. On that particular occasion, it was a week night and we sat in a near empty bar at a table top. the bartender, who refuses service if you’re not ordering alcohol, refused to acknowledge, take our order, or help us. Finally, a waiter from the other side of restaurant came and apologized several times saying«I don’t know why he’s not serving you!» Well, we put in our food order and a few mins later the most obnoxious, strong and tear inducing smell of chemicals came spewing from the vents located directly about our table. Our eyes were watering and I was light headed and dizzy. We asked the bartender what was going on and he completely ignored us like the music was too loud for him to have to talk to us. I had to go outside. Finally, we tracked down our waiter and asked him what was going on. He was a kid and didn’t seem prepared to deal with answering it, so he said«I think it’s coming from the kitchen. they are cleaning with bleach right now»…I asked to speak with a manager. No one was sent. Finally, a short statured man came out from kitchen to adjust the televisions in the bar area and I could just tell he was the manager. I flagged him over to our table where he seemed annoyed I was distracting him from his task. I told him the facts AND that I’m pregnant and shouldn’t be breathing in these fumes. And is it true bleach and a deep cleaning is being performed while our food is being made?” he said«oh, ok. I’ll go look.» and NEVER came back. we moved to other side of restaurant on our own, reluctantly ate and left so upset. no manager said sorry or even remotely tried to explain why there were fumes pumping directly into our faces. nothing. Like I said, I called several times for 2 weeks afterward and never once got anyone on the phone or to return my calls. We also brought my mother visiting from CA there for her birthday celebration. Our waitress was awful. She was so scatterbrained and refused to write our order down. She messed up my moms order twice and it came out the exact opposite of the instructions she asked for(NOTHOTORSPICY) and extra spice was added… she admitted it. waited so long on drink orders and birthday dessert was never brought out. huge disappointment. I felt bad for my mom that she had a crummy birthday dinner. Cut to last weekend. we said let’s give it one more shot. Walk in a full hour and a half before closing and directly after another couple. The restaurant wasn’t busy. The couple was sat. We waited and waited and finally have the waiter/host came over to tell us the kitchen was somehow now closed and they can’t seat us. WTF. I asked how it closed between the couple before us being sat and us being addressed? He said«I don’t know but it’s closed.» ANHOURAND A HALFBEFORECLOSING. no «sorry», no anything. somehow the couple ahead of us could put in an order(because, ya know, the restaurant WAS still open), but us a whole 2 minutes later would somehow cause the roof to cave in, again, an hour and a half before closing. We religiously went to this Mexican restaurant for a year. I am flabbergasted how shitty the service has become and how blatant they are about it. No managers ever seem to be present and if they are, their own staff will tell you«oh, he doesn’t speak good English»…ummm, somehow I highly doubt that is the case. Is this place just a front for something else because they sure don’t want to take your money when you go in. Shame on you guys and I so hope the owner reads this. You have so let us down. And to blatantly disregard something health related is disgusting to me. don’t give these guys money. They could care less if you eat, enjoy it, or are breathing in toxic fumes while your pregnant and eating. jerks.

Tara Humata has never been my first choice for Mexican food in the Roswell area, but because it’s within walking distance of where I live, it’s a practical choice that usually has good food. But, on this recent dinner visit, both the food and service were poor enough to make me not want to frequent this establishment again. My wife and I waited almost 10 minutes to even receive our waters with chips & salsa. Took another 10 minutes to get our margaritas, and once our meal arrived(chicken nachos), the food was cold and had zero taste. Very disappointing. Seems like this place has been gradually going downhill over the years — no management on site, or at least they don’t walk around and check on tables.

Don’t waste your $. Poor service & over priced drinks. With so many new and amazing restaurants in the area, don’t waste your time. They will probably close down soon anyway at this location… Management is running it into the ground.,

The service was fast, but I was in at an early hour. My waiter was friendly, knowledgeable, and patient, as he explained the dishes, and made several suggestions for my first experience. My order was on the table quickly, and made to perfection. I highly recommend this place, and I’ll be bringing friends next time.

Even thought this place is consider Mexican restaurant in my opinion their best dish is the seafood soup! A huge bowl of a variety of seafood, a bit spicy just enough to make your nose run. Today though I decided to go with the stake skewers which were yummy as well. The meat was cooked exactly as I asked!

We just went for Mother’s Day lunch and the service was awful and the food wasn’t good either. We will never go back and I can’t believe the bill was what it was for the horrible food and service.

After this establishment was suggested to us I was super excited as I have seen passing by and it looked like a cool spot. Upon arrival for my daughters birthday dinner we were sat at a booth that had not been cleaned, no biggie; however, the waitress slopping down a towel for me to do it myself is absolutely unacceptable. The staff wears yoga pants and Adidas jogging pants at this«nice» restaurant is a complete joke. Décor is great, good isn’t half bad, but bc of this astonishing Disservice I will definitely NOT be back. Thanks for the great bday dinner.

My husband and I had a good experience at this restaurant. The décor was nice and it was not your typical sombrero and leftover Cinco de Mayo decorations on the wall but rather hand blown glass lamps and artsy paintings. The food was tasty and served quickly. I had chicken nachos and my husband had the fish tacos. Both were very good. There was live music on a Saturday night and we enjoyed the band… they played and sang well. Overall, we had a nice time and would go back again!

Visited here after painting our own Christmas ornaments next door. I had the pork burrito with beans and rice. Pork was so tender that it almost tasted like BBQ pork, which I liked. And the queso over the burrito was an excellent idea. Beans and rice were a bit dried but overall, food was good. It is a little pricy for Mexican food but I guess they gotta somehow make the rent for its oversized space and nice décor. It would have been nice to see the live band but they were just setting up when I was leaving. Their margarita is served in a giant beer mug and their large is big enough for 3 people to drink together. I took off a star because their servers can afford to smile a little and be friendlier. They looked too serious. Lol. Oh and definitely try their lava chocolate cake with ice cream. I will have to try their churros next time.

Interesting place. The décor of the place is interesting. A little gothy or just a bad trip, subjective. Either way, it wasn’t decorated like a typical local joint. Def had some flair nd their menu reflected that with their prices. Service was all really good. Servers were timely and answered all our questions. Foodwise, it was just your typical mexican food. I ordered the El gran Jefe. Nothing particular stuck out. Drinks are a little bit more on the pricey side. I can def get the same thing for a cheaper price in like 10 different mexican places around town. OVerall, i dont think i’d come back. def more mexican restaurants around town that are better and cheaper.
