Love this place! I had spent 10 years with my stylist, but started to become annoyed with having 4 sometimes 5 hours because he would always overbook. I put up with it because I loved how he well he did color, but I had enough when he forgot an appointment I made for a very special event. I did some research on places that specialized in color, I found aqua and after talking to receptionist she referred me to Matt. Matt was so knowledgeable and friendly I was Williams no to try him out and boy am I glad I did. He did a fantastic job. After having him do my hair for 2 years he moved and I started seeing Lisa and she is amazing. Prices are pretty reasonable for area as well

I was looking for a place to get a reasonable blow out in Royal Oak and was pleased to find Aqua Salon. It is right off of Main Street and I read online that they have $ 15 blow outs on Thursday. I thought this was too good to be true but after booking online and calling to confirm, it was the truth. I had Emily as my stylist and she did a great job. I have very thick, curly hair and it isn’t easy to blow dry straight. She did a great job. She didn’t flat iron it and it looked great. I’m loving this deal so much, I will definitely go back!

I don’t see why this salon has negative reviews. My first time here, Bianca cut and colored my hair and I look and feel 100 times better. Staff is super friendly. Host was incredible. Bianca turned my frizzy, full lifeless hair into shiny smooth and beauty. Would definitely recommend and have found my new hair spot. Thank you aqua salon!!!

WOW! I am so impressed with the talent at this salon. I scheduled an updo for my 1 year anniversary wedding renewal ceremony the week before the date. The night before the ceremony I find out that I have to be at the location by 11:30 am. My appointment was scheduled at 10am. Naturally I was freaking out. I am mixed and have really curly poofy hair so updo’s usually take an hour at least. I talked to the stylist and asked if she could do my hair as fast as possible. I was in and out within about 40 minutes! She also did the most incredible job, and was super nice! I even had time to stop by a local thrift shop to find a beautiful hair clip. She helped me put the hair clip in too! I would recommend this place to anyone who has mixed curly hair. They really know how to make it look perfect for that special day. I’m so happy to have my hair done by this salon.

Nice, not so uptight salon. Ask for Bianca. She is the best. Only drawback is she only works Fridays.

My usual stylist at my salon in Royal Oak had to cancel my appointment, so I needed to get a root touch-up last minute. They fit me in and did an excellent job. I was in and out quickly, the dye job was perfect(as was the blowout!), and the price was reasonable. I now have somewhere else I can go for my color, which is always good to have! Thanks, ladies.

Aqua is great. I have been going there for years. Julie is my stylist and she is wonderful. She’s so down to earth and knows exactly what I want without me even saying it. It’s hard to trust someone with your look, but she just gets it. She listens and understands witjout pushing anything down your throat. Her neighbor Christina is also fabulous. I’ve watched her while Julie does my hair and her clients are always impressed with how she handles their look. The salon recently had a makeover and had new floors put in and updated some other things in the shop. It looks 10x better then it did years ago. The front desk ladies are always very sweet. Great selection of Redken products also, but they don’t push it on you which is awesome. It’s there if you want it. Give this place a try. :)

If you are going to get your hair done here, get it done by Jordan Savine. She has skills. I’m very picky about how my hair gets cut but Ms. Savine was able to provide suggestions while honoring my particular style. I now always request Jordan every time I get my haircut and you should too!

I love this place. Lisa is not only an excellent stylist, she is the only person who I have allowed to cut my hair for the past five years or so(and she gets it perfect every time). I am kind of annoying about how I like it done and my hair is dead flat and not easy to achieve results with. But Lisa must be a wizard or a Jedi or something along those lines. And to top it all off it’s only $ 20 for a male cut/style at Aqua, totally worth it. 10÷12÷13EDIT: Price was just raised to $ 25 but still a great deal.

This salon has definite potential… but it is dirty. There is hair everywhere – like it is never cleaned. The chairs have hair dye all over them. Some stylists just sit around in client seating spots when they don’t have a client. If they cleaned daily, this would be a MUCH better salon.

Ashley C. Is the BEST! She does my cut and color and I won’t go to anyone else now. She’s always willing to help you figure out exactly what you want. She’s given me beautiful color and has helped me fix my crappy cut I got elsewhere. I highly recommend Aqua, in general.

Can you say expensive, overdone and snobby? For the record, there is nothing the matter with me wanting a no fuss hair cut. Not everyone wants to wash, condition, blow dry, style and the slather their hair with chemicals every morning. When I say I need a haircut that requires no morning prep I mean just that, a cut that let’s me shower, comb and then leave the house with wet hair. PS — I look fabulous without make up unlike some nameless annoying people who try to push products on me that I don’t want. These rosy cheeks are natural, so you should be jealous.

Apparently, if you have less than straight hair you won’t be serviced. I rushed to get to my appt. at 4:30pm only to leave at 4:35pm. I am African American and wanted my hair dyed. I was given every reason in the book as to why she couldn’t work on my «type of hair». In addition, if she did anything it would«cost a lot of money». Why would my visit be more expensive than any one else? Hmmm… Let me think. If you are a stylist, you need to educate yourself on all types of hair. Just saying. I am very disappointed and I will be spreading the word.

I’ve been going to Christina for a few years now and think that she does an excellent job. She’s very talented with highlights and does a good haircut, too. She’s also very friendly. I think that their prices are very reasonable for the area(and I used to be a $ 20 haircut person!). $ 85 for a cut and highlights at a nice salon in the Royal Oak area is not bad at all. I also like that they don’t try to sell you product(I’ve never gone anywhere where they weren’t trying to sell stuff!) I really like the updates they made to the paint and décor in the salon and they no longer blast club music through the loudspeakers, which I used to hate. That said, I do have a few complaints. There is always hair on everything and in the corners. A good cleaning would go a long way!(I didn’t notice this that much until I started watching Tabitha’s Salon Takeover… now that’s all I see!) It would also be nice if we could leave tips on our credit cards; it’s rather annoying to have to use cash.

For four years I had a close friend come to my home to highlight and cut my hair. I was always very satisfied with the work she did but it was getting inconvenient working around her schedule, not mine. In August 2010, I decided it was time for a change… I started by doing some research into local salons. I wasn’t entirely sure what I should expect to pay for full highlights and a trim since I was used to having my hair done at home — I knew I didn’t want to pay over $ 100, but I wasn’t sure if I was being unrealistic. I found Aqua during my search. The prices listed on Aqua’s website were very enticing — they also had a half off coupon for Mondays which seemed like a heck of a deal and were local(living in Ferndale at the time). I read some reviews online, and decided to schedule an appointment with Martha. I did not have any trouble with them honoring my half off coupon and the first time I left with full highlights I paid $ 25. In my opinion, the prices at this salon are amazing. I had someone coming to my house and was supposedly paying for cost of color plus a little extra and I’d pay more than what I’m paying at this salon(and she wasn’t using any special fancy dye or anything like that). I have never been unhappy with what Martha has done with my hair. She has a gift — I can walk in with a vague idea of what I want my hair to look like when I leave, and I walk out looking gorgeous. I completely trust her and know she wont let me leave with mediocre looking hair. She also has a great personality and doesn’t let you just sit in the chair while she’s working on your hair without saying a word. I moved to Auburn Hills last year and although it’s not a crazy distance away, I will always make the drive to see Martha(and you should too!). I never feel like I am over paying — I don’t think this is a ‘you get what you pay for’ kinda place, because the quality of my color and cut is always worth far more than what I end up paying.

I have been a «blonde» for almost 10 years now and have never been happier then with the color and highlights i have received from my stylist Kristin Tobin and Aqua Salon royal oak! I can honestly say i have never walked out disappointed, or feeling like I got something I didn’t want. I actually think Kristin knows me and my hair better then I do. My hair has never looked more healthy and beautiful, I couldn’t be happier with the service i have received there. I can recommend KRISTIN and AQUA Salon to any and everyone!

A mixed bag. Good haircut, dirty salon, wouldn’t honor their own half off offer. I got a nice haircut from Ahsley, who listened carefully to what I wanted. She gave me a nice cut, and was easy to work with. The reviewer who noted hair on the floor(normal in a salon) is right. It’s in all the corners, too. When I got a brow wax, they were surprised when I asked for a towel to be put on the fabric cushion behind my head. I was surprised that I had to ask. The treatment room also had hair on the floor, and the bottles had gooey stuff caked on the dispensers. Also, the web site says half off any service on Mondays in Royal Oak — just checked and it’s still there. The salon said they didn’t know anything about that, and refused to honor that. Not a huge deal, but leaves a bad impression.

When my regular stylist at another RO salon up and moved to the Windy City, I asked around for some recommendations. A friend(with cute hair!) suggested I try Christina at Aqua Salon, and I am SO glad that I did! She really works to give you what you want, and does stellar highlights and precise cuts. I’ve been to the salon twice now, and have left a very happy customer both times. Reasonably, priced, too, compared to what I was paying at the other salon. So they’ve earned my business and loyalty!

I went to Aqua because my stylist was on vacation and I really wanted a decent look asap. I got an app with Lisa. She was sweet and gave me a decent haircut. I gave this place two stars(actually I wanted to give it one…) because it’s the FILTHIEST salon I have ever stepped in. There was no place for me to put my purse but… the floor which had dust bunnies and hair from clients ago. The sink where Lisa washed my hair was pretty much in the middle of the salon; there were cleaning supplies in view which turned me off completely. The white couches where dirty, the rest of the furniture was chipped and dusty… Yikes! I attempted to contact the management but their email is not working properly. I hope someone at the salon reads this…
