Came here with a friend for quick drinks and catching up. The location and décor was fantastic and they had a pretty decent drinks list(wine, coffee, and spirits). It felt a little sparse for happy hour, but we didn’t mind. My friend and I each tried a different drink and ordered a snack. Unfortunately, it took forever for us to get our drinks and food(it was deviled eggs) despite them them not being too busy. Also, one of the drinks was definitely a miss — perhaps we missed ordered but it was disappointing. They did give us a random discount(not sure if it was for the wait) or if that was standard happy hour discount. I may try them again for their coffee or pastries, but not sure if I’d do drinks there again.

This is a great place to grab a sandwich to go for lunch or enjoy happy hours after work. For lunch, they offer quality cold sandwiches for very reasonable price — $ 5.99 which is almost unheard of for the downtown area! For happy hour(3 – 6), they offer delicious cocktails for $ 6 and well drinks for $ 4, and espressos and hot chocolate for those who want to abstain. Café a Cote offers good service, and nice classy atmosphere without breaking the bank.

Café Á Côté is the café portion of the new Brasserie Capitale in the lobby of the«Ban Roll-On» building on 12th& K in Downtown Sacramento. They are going full steam ahead on bringing a traditional French café look, feel, and menu to the area and are doing a great job. They have really opened up the former Gallagher’s Irish Pub with lots of white tile and mirrors and lovely touches. It is worth going just to see the impressive bar with a beautiful edgework. They serve housemade French pastries in the morning and entrees from the Brasserie during the rest of the day. On my visit I had a nice latte with a prosciutto and cheese filled croissant. They normally use ham, but these were special. I thought the prosciutto made the croissant very salty, but I could tell the base pastry was done well. The latte was done well. Sacramento could use more places like this. They are open late to catch a crowd more interested in the hard drinks behind the bar, but I am sure the espresso machine runs all night. There is limited outdoor seating available to complete the whole Paris café feel. Good luck!
