I want to start off my saying I’m a huge fan of mom and pop restaurants like this one. You instantly know that you are bound to get incredible food, however there’s always a downside… The food is exactly what you imagine it could be, deep fried goodness! However the confusion in regards to what time this place opens on a Saturday is quite frustrating. If I hadn’t awkwardly tested to see if the door was open I would have left and missed out on the delicious food. Also the husband and wife that own this establishment are quite lovely, at least the women is, the gentleman failed to make my order correct, but I just let it slide because I just didn’t have the patience. So for the food alone I would come back here… but only if I was in the area… I would certainly not go out of my way for this place to be honest…

Close to trader joes. Best cocktail sauce on the planet. Fried fish and seafood pretty on par with other similar establishments. They have fried clams which are not easy to find these days. Also they offer hamburgers too. Coleslaw is not our favorite. We tried it a few times. Burgers definitely tastes like a hamburger patty with fillers, not a burgers and brew patty. Going to stick with the fried fish. Heard another patron remark that the fried oysters are good. We will try those next time. Despite some small disappointments we still like this place.

The best fish and chips in East Sac, hands down, and the best I’ve had in Sacramento, period. Always fast friendly service, big portions, perfectly cooked – fish, clams, shrimp and hush puppies every time. Their tartar sauce is amazing – not sure whether they make it in house or have a special supplier. It’s not fine dining, but it’s not supposed to be, and for what it is, it’s excellent!

We ordered the fish, oysters and chips combo with a side of calamari — Big pieces too! I love everything! The staff/owners are super friendly! I would definitely come back and maybe switch up a little & try their teriyaki next time.

Amazing. Really great fresh fish and chips. I drenched mine with malt vinegar, a bit of their tartar sauce, and a squeeze of lemon. Really delicious. Can’t wait to try everything on their pretty impressive menu. The guy at the counter was supper friendly and people were calling in orders too so it seems like this place has some good loyalty. One little issue: they really need to learn how to clean the sticky off of their glass tabletops.

Terrific fish here — huge pieces so the prices, which sound higher than average are not expensive at all for what you get. Must use good oil, flavor is great and customer service is excellent as well. Have been coming here for few years now.

I’ve ordered the fish and chips on two occasions(takeout). Both times the fish was very good with the appropriate amount of batter, flavor, and crispiness. The tartar sauce served on the side is creamy, tangy, and nicely flavored. Prompt service, good food, and management that appears to place the customer first. All in all, I had a very good experience. Definitely coming back.

Solid fish and chips joint off the beaten path but close to everything. The fish pieces are big, hot, steamy, and crispy and the fries are exactly as they should be to accompany the fish. Crisp and soft in the middle, but add your own salt because the kitchen doesn’t. We added a side of hush puppies and coleslaw and both were excellent. The hush puppies were perfectly seasoned and fried with a nice crispy outer shell to compliment the soft inside and the slaw crisp and tart. I was also happy to find Sierra Nevada and Fat Tire here in bottles for a reasonable price. You can get out of here for $ 10 if you order right. Ask for the shrimp sauce if you want a little extra kick.

This is your run of the mill fish & chips joint. They fry you up cod to your hearts desire. I tied the beef teriyaki. Probably not the best idea. It was ok. Glad they have beer though! The staff/owner are nice.

It turns out there aren’t too many options near midtown for fish and chips. I chose this spot when I saw that they also offer teriyaki chicken. It has your classic, local diner grill feel to it and the food was all good(for diner quality).

This place is so on point! The food is fresh and hot and the price is really good for all the food. I got the Seafood combo beer battered *Prawns, Scallops, Calamari, and fish with Chips* The food was fresh, hot and fast not to mention they give you every sauce you need so you don’t have to ask for anything. Some of the best fish and chips I’ve had in the city.

Found this place through Unilocal… so before leaving Sacramento, we decided to try this place. We originally planned to leave Sacramento by 10:00am; however, this place doesn’t open on Saturday till noon… so we waited! This is a mom & pop business, the mom cooks, the dad takes the order. We were the 1st customer and ordered 3 fish/chips, side order of shrimp(4pcs) and mushrooms(4pcs) and large soda with total of $ 20.00. The fish is cooked well and light on the batter, the french fries are okay. Shrimp is great too but the mushroom is just okay as there is so much batter on this. Oh, the drinks are refillable so you can just order one and share: D When we got our orders, he brought out 5 different sauces! We tried them all except for the malt vinegar.lol. Overall, this place is a great find and will definitely be back again to try other food on menu when in area.

Min & his parents own the best fish and chips place around town. I usually call and order a 2 piece fish and chips and a teriyaki chicken plate to go at least a few times a month. Every single time I come to pick up my food, I am greeted with either Min or his parents who are always kind to me. Cape Cod has more than just fish and chips. They have teriyaki plates, burgers, tempura, chicken sandwiches, etc. Their wide menu selection is not disappointing and there’s something for everybody. I have been in the restaurant and I have to say that the food is served quickly. I feel pampered when they come with all the condiments(ketchup, tartar sauce, malt vinegar, hot sauce, etc.) For less than 8 bucks you can eat a 3 piece fish and chips and still have some to share or for leftovers. I love how reasonable the prices are at Cape Cod. If you want the best fish & chips check out cape cod.

3 pc fish and chips = $ 9.29 Plus 3 pcs of fish(ala carte) = $ 9.00($ 3.00 each) Plus Order of jalapeño poppers = $ 4.99 Total: 24.46 I try to stay away from places like these because it’s yummy, but so bad for you so I am not familiar with the going rate of fish n chip plates. It seems like they have a lot of regulars that frequent this place. They take the fish, dip it in the batter and throw it in the fryer. They just came out and they are huge! I really enjoyed the fish and the batter is pretty good. I have had better tarter sauce but unless you make your own bomb tarter concoction, their’s will have to do. I don’t think I’d get the jalapeño poppers again, only because I had enough fried stuff with the fish n chips meal alone, that getting any of the other fried sides just puts my arteries into overload. This is a delicious spot, not to mention the only spot, when you are craving some good ol’ fish and chips. Enjoy my fellow Unilocalers!

Finally stopped in for dinner the other night with my boyfriend. We were the only eat-in diners, though two people came in for to-go orders while we were there. As other reviewers have said, it is worn and dated inside, but smelled good and seemed clean. I ordered the seafood combo, which was advertised on their online menu as being 1 piece of fish, 2 prawns, 2 scallops, and 2 oysters. This must have changed recently because when my order arrived there were no oysters, but 2 calamari strips instead. I should have asked or checked more carefully, but it bummed me out. The breading was only okay(it was a thicker tempura style breading, I could have gone with less breading) and the whole order seemed overdone. Everything was just kind of greasy rubber and the breading was very brown and hard in some parts. The best item was the prawns, and they weren’t actually good. The calamari was terrible. The fries were just plain awful. Not impressed. When I initially decided to try this place out, it was because I was craving Tug Boat Fish and Chips on Freeport, but decided to try a new fish and chips shop. In my opinion, Tug Boat has better breading and they have never overcooked my meal like Cape Cod did. My boyfriend ordered the cheeseburger with mushrooms and holy crap it was tasty. As I picked at my sad food, I had to fight the urge to reach across the table and snatch his dinner away. It was large but not too big to eat, the bun was delicious, the meat was pretty flavorful, the produce was fresh, and the cheese they used is the white kind that usually comes on philly cheese steaks. Yes please. Bonus points for having beer, that is one area where Tug Boat fails. The service was adequate but not particularly friendly. Two people were working(seemed like maybe a mother and son), and after our food arrived they stood around in the kitchen area and he gave her a back rub. While that was very nice of him, I didn’t really want to watch that while I was eating and wish they would have at least gone in the back. Not the worst place in town, but I would not come back for the fish and chips. If I’m in the area, I could see myself coming back for a burger though. If I do come back I might try some fried veggies or the clam chowder.

The burgers here are the best in east Sacramento! You get a bacon cheese burger with fries, for less than any fast food place. Everything is fresh and made to order right in front of you. The owners are really nice too. I haven’t had the fish yet, because I’m stuck on the delicious cheese burgers!

I love this little family owned place! It is our favorite lunch spot. The chicken teriyaki is FANTASTIC!!! Especially if you have a side of RANCH to dip it in! The portions are huge, so be prepared to share or have another meal later. The rice is always perfectly cooked, not mushy or too hard. And I have heard they make the BESTBURGER. I have yet to test the theory. Definitely stop by this place if you are looking for some delicious chicken teriyaki!
