Tonight is the last time I will order from this Dos Coyotes. I have eaten here a number of times and had no problem when I ate in the restaurant. But EVERY take out order has been wrong. Tonight, again, I ordered a Passilla Chile Quesadilla to go and again did not get what I ordered. The menu clearly says this comes with salsa(not the salsa bar salsa… another wonderful kind with black beans and corn), guacamole and sour cream. In the past, I have gotten it home(15 miles from the restaurant) to find nothing but the quesadilla. naked…no salsa, guac or sour cream. Tonight, I got it without the salsa. Actually, my daughter made the trip to the restaurant and ordered it. There have been so many«mistakes» that she knew to check each part of the order before she left the restaurant. She noticed that there was no salsa and asked for it. The young woman at the counter told my daughter that the salsa doesn’t come with it. ??? My daughter didn’t think to say, «Look at the menu.» The salsa is the main reason I order this, so this time I decided to take it back. The young woman looked right at my daughter and said, «I didn’t know you wanted it.» Another young woman came up and explained that yes, the salsa comes with it if you are eating in the restaurant… otherwise, you have to order it. ??? So remember that folks. If you are ordering to go be sure you specify every single thing you want… everything that’s on the menu. e.g.“I want a cheese quesadilla with pasilla chile.” «That it, I want a flour tortilla with melted cheese and pasilla chile and quacamole, sour cream and black bean salsa.» But be sure you check everything before you leave. I will never go back. It’s no pleasure at all to eat the thing after such a struggle and dealing with the counter people, who clearly don’t want to bother filling the little plastic containers with salsa, etc. I cannot believe that young woman at the counter had the nerve to say«I didn’t know you wanted it.» when my daughter had specifically asked for it and had been told«It doesn’t come with it.» How can it be then that you didn’t know she wanted it?

Great lunch spot with outdoor seating for those nice Sacramento days. I ordered the salmon burrito, it included chips and a go at the salsa bar. The salmon burrito was delicious, it had cheese, rice, black beans, guacamole and salmon wrapped in a flour tortilla. The burrito was the perfect size, not too big, not too small and tightly wrapped so it didn’t fall apart. The salmon was a filet that had been sort of pulled apart or shredded. It was scattered throughout the tasty hand treat and not just concentrated in one end of the lunch roll. The highlight was the salsa bar, forget salad bars, every lunch establishment should have a salsa bar. I had the mild green, spicy jalapeño and spicy chipotle. They were all competent salsas, the green was a sweet with strong tomatillo notes, the jalapeño was a bit watery(probably vinegar based) and had a hint of habanero, the chipotle was a thicker paste, had tons of chile seeds and smokey hints of Serrano and poblano.

Nothing like ordering something you really wanted, for take out, and then get home and it’s something else. I ordered the steak Adobe salad and got the Yukutan chicken. I know it wasn’t intentional. But it really sucks. And since I don’t live close, can’t replace it until another date. This was my first time at this location so I’m disappointed for sure. Will give them another chance. They were nice and it was clean which is why two stars and not one. Update: went back and they took care of me. Gave me my original order for free. And it was all good. Handled it like they are supposed to.

Reasons to eat at Dos Coyotes: 1. The owner, Bobby Coyote, loves and supports local farm-to-fork and farm-to-school programs like Yolo Farm to Fork. He celebrated his 25th business anniversary by rolling a giant burrito and donating the proceeds to Davis Farm to School! 2. Great value for your money. The salads, for one, are HUGE. You will not leave hungry after order one of these salads! The nachos I ordered were also humongous. 3. Salsa bar! My favorite is the green mild salsa, which is a little sweet. Mmmm! 4. Flexible menu for special dietary needs. 5. Seasonal specials like gumbo or the Cubano quesadilla(which my husband LOVED) keep things interesting, in addition to the usual menu items. So thanks to the Sac Bee for their recent article which motivated me to try Dos Coyotes finally, now that is has turned 25. I don’t know if it was because of that article, but this place was SUPER crowded and loud on a Thursday around noon, although it died down a bit after 12:30. Not somewhere to go for a quiet lunch, but great value and fresh ingredients? Yes!

Great/Fresh food. I enjoy eating at places where the kitchen are is open, you can see how your food is being made. I had 2 shrimp tacos and a chicken taco .:. Both AMAZING. I love their salsa bar, fresh salsa, hot carrots, limes, cilantro mix, etc.

Horrible!!! First they forgot the meat on my salad(the lady was nice and got it for me right away) — but the steak wasn’t grilled, it tasted boiled! We had it for all our dishes and it tasted bad! But they have a sign to notify customers that the price of steak has gone up– I guess they are trying to increase profits by throwing quality out the door! Never eating here again! Take your money to Taco Bell!

I’ve tried a lot of items on their menu. If you’re looking to have a burrito, salmon, shrimp or mahi mahi are great options. The line can get very long. The parking at this business plaza is a huge pain which is why I took off one star during the busy times of the day. A convenient location since its next to sac state. Staff are all friendly and attentive. The salsa bar is maintained and nothing is really empty.

Came highly recommended. The Rancho wet burrito was great. Lots of flavors. The shrimp burrito was OK and I found myself a little underwhelmed. It started to get really delicious toward the bottom of my burrito though, since the sauce pooled there via gravity. Great selection of salsas and good, fast service. Huge portions :)

Location kind of sucks cause it gets really crowded especially when sac state students are present. The parking sucks because there are a lot of other businesses nearby. But the food here is delicious. I always order chicken Navajo nachos. And man they are good! Basically they are baked nachos with meat, cheese, beans, sour cream and guacamole. They do have a salsa bar with a good variety. I use the corn salsa and pico de gallo. The inside is almost always clean, there are plenty of tables to sit at and they also have outside seating if you enjoy looking at traffic in a busy intersection(Folsom and 65th). It is quite nice at night though. They do light up the outside and I believe they do have heat lamps when it’s cold outside.

The food was great, but the service was horrible. I will never visit this location again. I might go to another location, but I will probably stick with other options. I ordered a steak burrito bowl with green sauce and asked if I could fill up my water bottle with water. Then my friend ordered and after she ordered I asked the cashier if I could please add lettuce to my burrito bowl. She said that I didn’t order a burrito bowl, that I ordered a burrito, which I did not. She«changed» the order to what I had said in the first place and then gave me a glass for water. I politely returned the glass and told her that I would just use my water bottle. I looked at my receipt which said $ 12 the menu listed the price as $ 8.75 with a 75 cent increase for steak due to the increase in price for meat. That still does not equal over $ 12 with tax. I asked her what the extra charge was for since my receipt does not specify the items purchased and she told me that she charged me for a soda. I clearly asked for water and we had a conversation about it and not once did me or my friend mention soda. She said she would fix it, but she spent about another 10 mins catching up with a customer whom seemed to be her friend. Another cashier asked if he could help me with my question, which he did. While the cashier kept up with her casual conversation while I waited for service. It was bad customer service and rude as I waited for her help. Her name is Anastasia. I believe that is what her name tag read and she did not listen to a word I said and ignored me. The other cashier explained that the extra charge was for green sauce not soda, which Anastasia did not tell me would be extra after I mentioned that this was the first time I had ever been to the restaurant. It was bad service, and they were rude. I will never go back.

A colleague picked up an online order for our lunch from this establishment. I ordered a wet burrito which was very dry. I have been going to Dos Coyotes at varios locations for fifteen years and this is by far the worst one. The airport one is even better than this at SMF! The food tasted bland and the chicken was even dry. Also I didn’t even get to the avocado until I was half way done with the burrito. My colleague gave her food away because she didnt like it. When we pay $ 10-$ 13 for a burrito we expect a little more.

As far as Dos Coyotes goes, I am a huuuuge fan. However, this Dos falls short compared apples to apples with another Dos Coyotes, Specifically, the Dos off of I-80 in Davis. I visit this Dos at 65th frequently, as it is my go to for catching quick lunch or dinner after work with my husband. However, I want to talk about the time we ate here the night before stopping in Davis on our way driving to the bay. Dinner at Dos two days in a row?!? Yes please! (Aside: I may be guilty of eating here with my coworkers rather than the wonderful lunches my husband lovingly prepares for me, and maaybe, I might fail to mention this fact when I meet my husband there for dinner on the same day. Though usually, he’s able to tell when I do, partially because I forget to throw away the Dos cup in my car with the receipt underneath.) Not only did my husband and I eat Dos for dinner two days in a row, we decided to order the exact same specials we did the night before. We *LOVE* the specials! We got the bahn mi pork tacos, and the yolo chicken burrito(can’t wait for the yolo mango to return). What we both realized was that while our order was pretty darn good at 65th& Folsom and were happy with our menu choices, the food had so much more amazing flavor in Davis. While I’m not usually an advocate for people to drink the davis kool aid, there was no competition. The pork at Davis was juicy and tender instead of dry and chewy. The dawg sauce in the yolo burrito was well dispersed and flavored the whole burrito, and on top of that my husband asked me, «was there avocado in the burrito last night?» Neither of us could recall whether or not any had been included. However, while neither my husband or I will be moving to Davis anytime soon, we are both excited about trying the new Dos that opened up on R Street. If they haven’t ironed out all the bugs out yet, we are fortunate enough to live down the block from the Arden location.

The food used to be good, but lately I’ve ended up giving half my burrito to the dog. I’m assuming they either started getting lower quality meat or screwed up the seasoning, but it’s definitely not as good as it used to be.

I came to Dos Coyotes with my boss and coworker one afternoon for lunch because I have always heard good things but never been. The parking lot is nice because there are a lot of spots, but beware of you have a large car; the parking spots are TINY! My boss managed to park his huge truck after circling a few times but it wasn’t easy. They don’t have table service so you have to order at the register and then sit down at a table with a number where they will deliver your food. I like this way of ordering because then I don’t have to worry about a tip, but I found that when we were there if we needed more of something or there was a problem with our order we were SOL. They should at least have one or two people walking around to make sure everyone in the dining room is taken care of and that everything came out ok. I ordered their Wet Vegetarian Burrito which came with the beans, cheese, salsa, guacamole, rice and and sour cream inside a wheat tortilla covered in green sauce. It also came with a side of chips which were my favorite part of the meal. The chips were nice and fresh and they have a really good salsa bar with a lot of different choices. The burrito was ok. The green sauce that came on top was super thin and didn’t have any flavor and the burrito was just blah. My boss and coworker enjoyed their meals but I’m not a big fan of Tex-Mex food as it is so I wasn’t expecting much. The restaurant was kept clean and they had a bunch of tables outside on the front patio to sit at. The whole experience was just OK, I would come back if someone else wanted to go to see if I could find something I liked better, but I wouldn’t go back on my own accord.

Based on my last experience here, I’m starting to have a change of feelings about this place. The burritos here are always too big so my boyfriend and I usually order a border burrito cut in half, some bacon blue cheese guacamole and 2 drinks. They have always cut the burrito in half for us and put it on two separate plates because that’s what we ask for and even the cashier knows that that’s the way we get it and she always asks if we wanted it cut in half and put on two plates too. Well the other day our burrito, chips and guacamole came out. Not cut in half, not on two plates. We went back and asked if they could cut the burrito in half and give us an extra plate. The people behind the counter told us that they quit doing that, so we were like whatever! I grabbed a butter knife and cut it myself. It took a whole two seconds by the way. When we went to bite into the burrito, it didn’t taste the same as the last 50 times we had been there. The flavor was gone and there were some new food items in the burrito that we had never encountered before. This was extremely disappointing! I did not like the new taste of the border burrito and could have gotten much better at chipotle! I’ll go there next time!

came here on a monday afternoon for lunch with my friends. when i walked in the place was busy already. most of the tables were occupied inside. there were lots of seating in the patio, most of the seats in the patio do have an umbrella for shade. i chose to sit inside, the cool AC. so this is how it works, you walk in and order and then they give you a number and you can sit where’ve you like and they will bring the food to you. the menu has a pretty good selection to choose from. i had ordered the chicken enchilada with rice and beans. the chicken enchilada was excellent. it had 2 pieces, which was filled with shredded chicken. it had lots of cheese on top too. the rice and beans were lack in flavor, it was easy to solve the problem. i went straight to the salsa bar where they make their salsa fresh daily, and got all my salsas and poured on top of the rice and beans. they do have some awesome salad too. my friend ordered the chicken salad which i tried was awesome. the salad was on top of a warm tortilla, we tore the tortilla into pieces and dipped it in the dressing. the salad had a bed of mixed greens, with a generous amount of chunks of chicken, snow peas, and etc. i found it very big portion where 2 people can share it. i do like how they have one special in seasoned salsa which was strawberry this time. i have never tried a strawberry salsa and this was interestingly good! last time i had their corn salsa, which was the best. slog with the salsa bar they have mild, medium, hot, and diablo fire spicy salsas. they have yellow onions, cilantro, lime, and lemon, all cut up as well in the salsa bar. i always enjoy my food here and have a good time catching up with friends. yes they are busy during lunch time, it is best to come here a bit earlier to beat the lunch rush. 11:30 to 12 is the busiest time. the line can get long but it moves fast. wait time for food is usually fast and is less than 10 minutes. i think if your on a time crush during lunch, this place shouldn’t be a problem. one of my other items i found yummy was their salmon burrito. i haven’t got one in a while but will go to downtown new location and get my salmon burrito. the new location is on r and 15th fyi. it will be a new review from me soon. thanks for reading and have a great day!

This place stays busy during lunch. I had the three crispy tacos. It was okay. I wasn’t disappointed at all, but it wasn’t like WOW either. They don’t serve margaritas here which is a bit of a bummer. The staffing for lunch is good as they really do need it to clear tables during the manic lunch rush. I’m open to coming back and trying something with a little more flavor and pizazz next time. I guess chicken tacos can be boring but I just felt like I’ve had better. This place is kind of in between a Chipotle and On the Border. The theme is colorful, fresh, friendly, and fast. I noticed some people ordered ahead online.

My favorite lunch spot. The paella burrito is a MUST try and the guacamole dip is unparalleled. ;) Good value here, especially with the salsa bar. One major recommendation to corporate, however, is that you reduce your salad portions and your prices accordingly. The portions are just ridiculously large in size and many times go unfinished and to waste :/. Make it a win-win situation for customers and company :). Thanks!

If bigger salads exist, they would have to be in Texas. The salads here are large enough to feed two! I’m a big eater and have a hard time powering through one of their salads. I usually have to take half home. They also have a great salsa bar, a good beer selection and many flavors of soda. I can’t speak to the rest of the food. I’m always eating the salsa and salads. The avocado salsa is great. It’s a little spicy and has a little bit of a smokey flavor. I eat it by the bucket!

I met friends here for lunch so finally had the opportunity to order something off the menu besides the Southwest burrito I usually share with my husband. I couldn’t decide between two entrees so let the cashier decide for me. As it was a drizzly day she suggested the green chili stew. That was very popular and my friends ordered it too. Quite tasty. The seasonal cranberry salsa is back too. This was the first time I had been to this location of Dos. Its décor is similar to the two Davis locations. It got very busy very fast. All the tables were taken by the time we left and people were hovering around waiting to snap up a table as people got up. Glad we got there early. The parking lot was full when we left too but plenty of spaces when we all arrived at a little after 11 a.m.

Why am I just discovering this place. DECOR: Very cute. This place has way more style then the typically mex food chain restaurant. It looked very clean at this location. FOOD: I had the wet burrito. It was good. I love the sauce burrito combo. However, the sauce tasted processed and lacked flavor. It had a sweet taste to it which I did not like. STAFF: Not much interaction with the staff since you order at the counter. No complaints. Overall, cute little chain. I will probably be back but it is not one of my favorite places esp because I love sauce. LOL if you cant get the sauce right I can not mess with you.

I think the«border» they refer to in their name is the line between deliciousness and value for your money. Every time I come here I try a new menu item, and as adventurous as I get I have yet to be disappointed. From burritos to shrimp tacos to mole plates, it’s all higher quality Mexican and Southwest inspired eats than you’ll get almost anywhere else, and at a price that won’t hurt your pocketbook. On my latest visit I ordered the Yucatan Chicken Salad based on my buddy’s recommendation. The serving size was ridiculous. It was probably the largest salad I’ve ever attempted to eat, and all for around $ 10. My jaw became sore as I masticated my way through bite after bite of charbroiled chicken breast, green leaf lettuce, black beans, red onions, carrots, sweet peppers, cabbage and corn in a Southwest vinaigrette. As if that weren’t enough, they lay it all out on top of a large flour tortilla in case you have a tape worm eating half of what you consume and you still feel hunger pangs. Based on this and other meals, plus the always smiling and helpful staff, I will happily reccomend Dos Coyotes as my meal of choice when I’m loitering down around Folsom and 65th.
