Wow, this was really a fun event and I can’t believe it took me this long to write about it and give Unilocal interns extraordinaire Ashley and Eddie their props for a job well done! As reward for attending this event, we got happy hour drink prices all night long, plus some different sakes. Let’s just say, copious amounts of alcohol do nothing but enhance the courage of potential singers and songstresses at a karaōke bar! The food looked amazing. I mean, I’m not really into sushi, but what was brought out was just so pretty, especially Todd’s lobster roll(you gotta see his pics to believe it) and Michelangelo’s spider roll(again, see pics). Plus, I know MyShawn loved her tempura, and there were many other fine tasty morsels available. Very nice… Then, of course, there was the karaōke. I’ll just say that I am a willing participant, just not a very able participant. I’m good with lyrics, but I never realized that I have a really weak voice. But, I did do the complete Rapper’s Delight, which is a feat in itself, because I’m only one little white girl doing the work of three guys, pretty much non-stop through that whole damn song. Props to me, but I was pretty winded after the last«Have you ever went over to a friend’s house to eat and the food just ain’t no good…» verse. Other folks, for example Ashley’s guy Steve, have very strong singing voices(and he has a penchant for Elton John songs). Eddie did Whitney and Katy and Drake. Jefferson and Alex and Deidre did a little Diana Ross and the Supremes action. David O and Michelangelo were both good sports and tried their hand at a few ditties as well. All in all, a fun event. I’m mos’ def’ signing up for the next Unilocal Karaōke event… so interns, make that happen! :)

Good selection for sushi and innovating plating. Wishing a larger selection of karaōke songs in English.

This was a really fun event. Eddie and Ashley did a great job at organizing, and putting together such a fun event. The singing part, well, it is what it is. I got here a bit early to have a cocktail and get something to eat. I had the rock’n roll, and the Oishii Lobster roll. The presentation of the food is truly amazing. The lobster roll was like a work of art. Alex L. didn’t want me to eat it so he could stare at it. It tasted almost as good as it looked. Only complaint I had, was that the food was not spicy enough for my taste. I even ordered them extra spicy. Good thing the Sake kept coming. The singing was much easier to listen to with copious amounts of Sake, thanks to Alex, and Ashley. The morning headache reminded me that I am not a huge fan of Sake. Oh well! It’s fun while you’re doing it. It was a great event put together by Ashley, and Eddie, the new interns. I hope to see more in the future. Thanks for putting together such a fun event. The hard part will be trying to not see Eddie and remember him singing some Whitney, and Katy Perry.

So obviously I’m a little biased here… But ain’t no party like an Ashley & Eddie party! Thank you soooooo sooo much to everyone that came out! You definitely helped make our very first event a success! We had a blast and are so happy to have such awesome new friends! The food was excellent, the singing was… kind of excellent, the vodka sodas were excellent, and the company was downright amazing. Thanks again to Oishii for hosting us– the staff was wonderful!

Everyone’s food looked great. They ate it and were happy soooo. All I had was the Tempura Shrimp appetizer and OMG five huge shrimp, tempura zuccini, tempura broccoli and tempura onion. It was enough to get even me full. I would have bursted had I added the anything else. There are so many karaōke rooms and big ones. Ours would easily hold 20 – 30 people. Large music selection and they update them very frequently. So if you like good food and good fun karaōke, this is the place.

Sushi, Sake, Karaōke &GEISHAS! OkaY. No Geishas. But Sushi, Sake & Karaōke! SITREP What a fantastic middle of our work week Super Bad-Ass Karaōke Happy Hour we had at Oishii Sushi & Karaōke Bar that was brought to us by that dynamic duo of Unilocalterns, Ashley N. & Eddie H. BRAVO! THESETUP To get to Oishii, you sort of have to meander between KBAR and DiveBar on «The Kay». Finally you realize, «Oh.» that this unassuming, street-level elevator right on on the K Street Mall takes you to «Suite 200» — the 2nd level — where the modern & stylish sushi restaurant with a full bar and 15 private, full-service karaōke rooms is located. EXTENDEDHAPPYHOUR! First off, the good folks extended their happy hour — normally from 3pm to 7pm(a very decent happy hour at any rate) to our group up until 9pm. This made the acquisition of many sushi rolls, appetizers, sake, and other tasty delights much more doable. We were ordering lots of different stuff and share from one another’s plates, so it made for a very friendly & fun time. * The Deep Fried Calamari will get me to come back for just that! * The Spicy Tuna roll is more than decent, but pretty plain — seemingly to diminish in it’s presentation when compared to the utterly fantastic presentations of the other food dishes around it, especially… * The Spider Roll — complete with it’s own spider-shaped dipping sauced on the plate, and, * The Seafood Tower, which was just fantastic! KARAOKE! KARAOKE! KAROKE!!! We were excited for this event and Unilocalterns Ashley & Eddie did not disappoint! Somehow they managed to finagle our usage the largest VIP karaōke room at Oishii and it was large enough for a party of 40 people! The Karaōke offerings were probably the one downside of this entire package. I mean, who doesn’t have Metallica or Def Leppard? Or the soundtrack to the movie Grease? So there were some holes to deal with in song selections. However, there was more than enough to make up for the selections. And if your singing is more of a Korean or Japanese-language artist fanbase, you definitely would be set in taking nationals from those countries to this establishment because there were extensive Karaōke offerings in these languages & pop song cultures. YING&YANG I am a big fan of Marilyn’s On The K’s LIVEBAND Karaōke — and that establishment is practically just a few doors down the street — and ironically a level BELOW street-level. But these are two(2) entirely different creatures of Karaōke and they each have their own merits. I think we are dam lucky to have 2 fantastic genres of Karaōke just within a block of each other to meet our particular Karaōke needs at any given moment. THELOWDOWN The Super Bad Ass Karaōke Happy Hour was a dam fine success and I very much look forward to the next one here.
