Open space and nice place to play pool. Only downside is that I think it’s too bright.

Driven by here far too many times and never giving this place a second thought; until recently. From the outside, it looks super sketchy because of the area and some of the folks you’d see just hanging outside be looking kinda sketchy sometimes, but it’s really not that bad. Sure, the interior looks like it can use a remodel, but if it ain’t broke, why fix it right? They also serve food and beer here, and both are super duper affordable. We ordered the fries for like $ 3 and it came in a basket full, and they were pretty darn amazing. I seen other people order the burger and it looked pretty bomb, so that’s something I gotta check out next time. As far as the beer, they have quite a good selection. They’ve got Racer 5 and Sierra Nevada to name a few, as well as Corona and PBR. All under five buckeroos! Oh, the billiards rate isn’t too shabby either.

A hole in the wall style eatery. This place offers good breakfast and lunch. They have a small menu so they make what they have very well and fresh. I suggest it If you want a hardy breakfast or a burger.

WOWWOWWOW!!! That’s all I can say! The new owners have definitely been a blessing to this place! I used to come here nearly 10 years ago and this place was kind of a shit-hole, low lighting, and low life crowd and not very well maintained. Not anymore! From what I understand new owners took over this place a few years ago and have turned this place around! This place is very well lit up now! Somebody is cleaning around this place, it looks good now! Great food! Yes I just said great food at a pool hall! They even have a happy hour that ends at 6pm… You can Lagunitas beer for $ 2 during happy hour! The employees actually seem to care too! I was taken care of by a new employee named Brandon! That dude knows what he is doing on the grill and he had good customer service as well! I ordered a double cheeseburger with fries and a Sierra Nevada! It was a truly delicious burger reminiscent of an old roadside burger joint! The pickles were amazing! I wish they had steak fries! As far as pool goes, I believe it’s only $ 5 an hour if your by yourself, $ 8/hour for two people and a $ 1 more an hour for every person after that! If you get bored of shooting pool they even have a lottery machine on site! This is my kind of place! I stop in at least once a week after I get out of school at Sac City College(2 miles down the road.) I’ll be back for sure!

Not just a dive, a scuzzy dive in an especially cruddy part of town. Nice pool tables. Typical bar food. Lowlifes loitering in the parking lots(front and rear). Feel free to visit the pawn shop and payday loan joint next door. Parking is a challenge: The neighborhood and strip mall tenants have threatening«You bettuh nut park here UNLESSS…» signs posted almost everywhere. Careful not to hit the homeless while you’re searching for that elusive parking spot. I don’t know of a reason to go back to the«Cue». :-(

An amazing burger! I ordered just their regular cheeseburger and it was savory and filling. The seating is scarce, just a few stools close together at a bar, If you don’t mind bumping shoulders with your neighbor, it will work. I ordered to go and I think that worked out well. I would definitely eat here again, but definitely to go.

Cheap hourly rates, haven’t tried any of the burgers, perhaps next time. Lot’s of regulars here, might have to become one myself.

I’m not a regular here and I don’t play pool, but I came here to visit with my sister since she use to work here. This place kind of feels like home for the regulars. It looks like everyone knows one another and it’s a very nice environment and community to be around.

In my world this is definitely a 5-star experience. Just trust me! So much fun on New Year’s Day! My first Jointed Cue burger and hanging out. I love this place. Just a few stools at the counter and the guys serving are friendly. The burger and fries were the perfect way to begin 2014. Served quickly, flavorful, and the fries were crisp just as I ordered. Plus they serve Frank’s hot sauce which is a favorite! Watched wide-eyed at the huge plates of breakfast food and can’t wait to get back to check that out. Eating and watching as locals racked balls and played pool. This is the classic dive and uniquely Sacramento. Can’t wait to see the next tournament. They have a new phone number(916) 456‑3243.

If you never knew this old time billiard didn’t have food, you are missing out. Only about 10 stools to sit on while the old timer’s shoot the shit and you quickly order and watch your food get made as its been made ever since the opening of the joint. I always get the double cheeseburger and fries and I am in heaven and ready for a nap afterwards. So definately go on a weekend when you can relax and take your time. My daughter says this is the best cheeseburger spot in town so perfect for kids and definately a fun new experience for them. They also have breakfast, which is your classic hashbrowns, eggs, ham, sausages, toast, etc. All made with lots of love.

I have always loved J Cue. I use to go all the time as a teenager. Back then, I actually came in to play pool and was not bad at it. Nowadays I come in for a beer and a late night snack. The burgers and fries are always good. Word of warning though: They put a lot of mustard on them things… But if you’re not a fan of mustard I would just order it without. I usually order it light on mustard. My latest obsession is the hot dog. It’s sooooo good! They make little slits in it so that it curls into circle form and put that thing on a hamburger bun. Because they cook it this way, the hot dog has a nice texture to it. Like a nice crunchy crust. They top it with all the regular hamburger toppings. So delicious!

The Jointed Cue is under new ownership. Dave decided to sell the neighborhood joints his family has owned for over 40 years. Here is a blurb about in Over The Fence in the Land Park News.

One of the best double bacon cheeseburgers I’ve ever eaten in my life. It’s just in a ghetto ass location where there’s a bum hanging out by the front door. It didn’t bother me at all, because I’m satisfied and full all for around 6 – 7 bucks! The burgers are so good, I had to order another burger just because it was that delicious! Double cheeseburger with bacon and everything on it with fries please!

This place gets 4 stars just for their bacon cheeseburger and fries! I’ve been coming to this place so long I used to ride my bike to it and people used to smoke so much in the place I’d come home and my Mom would ask if «I» was smoking! At 1st glance it looks a bit shady and ghettoish and at 2nd glance you realize it IS a bit shady and ghettoish. But I’ve never seen or heard of any trouble there so don’t let it intimidate you. I’ve always dreamed of playing pool in the backroom they have there and it’s still hasn’t happened, I think I’ve never thought my pool skills were worthy of being back there. That backroom is where only tournament players are allowed. Back to the food. You gotta try their cheeseburger and you must have it with bacon, they grill the bacon till it’s crispy and it adds a heavenly delicious crunch! And the frys… well they give Micky D fries a run for their money! I go here a lot of times just for the food! They even serve breakfast! Their prices are fairly cheap too. Come for the food, stay for the pool.

Ever ask your friends«hey wanna go play pool off of 24th and fruitridge»? Well my friends think I am joking at first then just plain crazy later. I try to tell them how great the burgers are and that $ 8 gets you like an hour of fun but Noooo. Maybe its the thought of being stabbed in a back alley or going to leave and finding that your car is missing. Oh well. I love this place. Great food, good tournaments and overall friendly competition. I have never had any problems even after taking someone for pocket change.

Take this review with a grain of salt because I’m a total pool noob. My first time going to a pool place in Sacramento, and I was a bit intimidated – first by the location, then by the look of the building, then the crowd. All in all, a good experience far better than I expected from watching movies. Seeing kids running around gave me some comfort in that it would be unlikely for me to get stabbed. Also the people that I bumped into accidentally turned around with a polite«excuse me» rather than bashing my skull in with a pool cue. :) A great value as well; a few rounds of pool in about an hour for $ 7, which is definitely a good alternative to the old movie or bowling standbys. Will try again.

I suck at pool. I didn’t try the food. I didn’t have any booze. Then why, oh why, was I at Jointed Cue? The truth is, I came here to watch my lover play in a pool tournament(awww, so supportive. I know). The things we do for love. This is definitely not a place for prissy chicks, though. Leave the damsel in distress act at the door. It’s time to get grimy! This spot is, well, interesting to say the least. It has a bit of a seedy feel to it, but overall it’s not bad. The patrons ranged anywhere from the old school Mexican ranchero to the gold chain wearing Uncle Vito from the Bronx. Everyone was pretty chill and minded their own business. One thing that stood out as a plus is that this place has a lot of options: Tired of the bright lights in the front room? Then go chill in the dimly lit tournament room in the back. Need a break from getting your ass beat in pool? Go to the grill and grab a burger and beer. Tired of the smell of icy hot and cigarettes? Move about 10 paces to the right and catch a whiff of the sticky icky – ain’t no thang. We keeps it classy at the Jointed Cue.
