Good, smooth coffee! Needs more flavors and milk options. I’ve been searching everywhere for a lavender latte, and this place only has vanilla or caramel. You get a large cup for cheaper than Starbucks and the coffee is high quality. I also ordered a strawberry lemon scone. It wasn’t flavorful at all, didn’t taste strawberries or lemon. They should add more butter, lemon & try poppy seeds! Cute place in a tucked away area, if you’re trying to get away from the crowds.

Service is horrible. The cashier is soo slow and serves line cutters, people that she knows. Chats them up with people in line. I just walked out. Good coffee but not worth the wait.

So, I never write a review, but I was so moved by their high level of customer service-I had to. The food is great. Our friends sandwich came out wrong and they were so nice to accommodate her dietary needs. Also, they were even added an extra drink. The food is great. The Cuban is out of control good(what is that sauce??). Try the lavender lemonade super tart and awesome.

We came here for some casual Saturday morning breakfast and it was exactly what we were looking for! I had the omelet — made to order — and my boyfriend had a delicious Cuban sandwich. Super fresh veggies in our side salads and really beautiful coffee. Also their customer service was on point. Our friend has a severe food allergy, and they went above and beyond in making sure they not only made her food properly but also offered to add other ingredients — no charge — to her order to replace the missed ingredients. All around a perfect Saturday morning breakfast experience!

Lovely café! I had a latte and one of the day’s specials: spicy arugula scramble with toast. Both were excellent, particularly the bread for the toast. The place is a large, former warehouse that is open and light. I will definitely be back when I’m here again.

I am new to Sacramento and I went here to check it out and although I loved the look of the place I was not that excited about the service. The lady working the counter seemed to be judging me the whole time I was deciding what to order. It felt awkward. As though maybe I am not«hipstery» enough to be there. I ordered my coffee and then decided to try a food item. Both were just ok. I do however look forward to returning and trying something else and hoping that the next time is better.

So funny story: This is my first time being here. I did not order when I first entered the door since I wanted to sit down first and cool down(Who knew Sacramento can be this hot?!). Furthermore, when I decided to order a vanilla ice latte(WHICHISHELLAGOOD), the previous customer ordered the same thing but WITH almond milk, so I got my beverage in less than 30 seconds. It was just a cool experience. The place is so clean and organized. Somewhat type of a hipster place, but who cares. The cashier/barista who I spoke to was friendly as she suggested drinks to me, since it was my first time being here. Good atmosphere. Just hope there was more outlets and seats where the cool actually sits(especially for the summer time — whew) Ultimately, this place IS A MUST go to.

Been to many coffee shops in the soul of Sacramento and thank goodness Old Soul Co is here. First and foremost, customer service is amazing. I came in around noon time on a wednesday and the barista seemed so enlightened to have the place so crowded. She could tell it was my first time in and helped me out with the menu then offered a few bakery snacks. Could not have asked for a kinder barista. Thank you for being so awesome! I ordered the Mocha Latte with Soy milk. I really love mocha lattes at coffee shops and Old Soul did not disappoint. The cup of coffee was the perfect temperature. Great bitterness level: not too bitter not too sweet and the foam was great. I would order it again but probably without the foam. In both the Vanilla Latte and Mocha Latte $ 4.25 each, there was far too much foam and I had to scoop it out since it was overpowering the cup. I also had a meat Quiche which was almost $ 8. Coffee places are pretty pricey in general but the food here is higher than average brunch places around Sacramento as well. Didn’t mind the price since the taste was stellar as well. The egg was cooked just perfectly and the meats were varied. The side salad was a great add on and definitely balanced the plate out. I really enjoyed the quiche with my latte. The only reason why I took off a star is because they don’t seem to have enough seating area for a what seems to be a large location. The environment is great and the noise levels are just fine but it’s pretty tight inside. I can’t remember if there was music or not. There’s also seats outside of the place too but come when they slow down to get a seating. Otherwise, count on take out. There’s a nice condiment/water station as well. There is wifi but you would have to ask because there’s no sign of where the wifi psw is. Park near Crepeville since the location is right behind it! The alley is a little strange to walk down but you’ll find it walking through the parking lot next to Crepeville and the Costume Store.

Old Soul, why do you pick the most hipster of locations?! In an alley, really? Even though it’s completely out of plain sight, the place was still packed when we walked in on a rainy Saturday morning. I’ve been to the Old Soul on Broadway before but was never a fan — I’m not a coffee connoisseur, I like those sweet drinks with lots of cream and sugar mixed in, so I’m not really one to judge the quality of their roast. They seemed to have a pretty large selection of food at this location though so it seemed promising. I went for one of their Saturday specials — churro waffles! If it says churro, I’m sold. It was served with a side of bacon and eggs too… perfect, sweet and savory! Wait time was minimal as well. The waffles were as good as they sounded but the honey drizzle was a bit too overpowering. Can’t go wrong with fresh strawberries on top! The only downside was the price… I don’t think the plate was quite worth the $ 12 price tag, in comparison to my boyfriend’s $ 12 plate of skirt steak, tater tots, balsamic reduction, over easy eggs… yeah you get the point. I also had a taste of his mocha and I enjoyed it! It wasn’t too bitter for my taste and I can imagine it would only taste even better with soy milk. Come early or avoid breakfast and lunch rush so you can easily get a table. Great spot for hanging out with friends or for study time. #1 brunch spot? No. But definitely one of the best food selections I’ve seen for a coffee shop.

Came here after walking through the alley and I was like OOOOOH. I’ve heard of this place and wanted to see what it was all about. I’m not a big coffee person, but my BFF is. He got the: Macchiato: 4⁄5 — He didn’t expect it to be so small, but he enjoyed how strong it was. Jasmine green tea: 5⁄5 — The best green tea I’ve ever had anywhere. It literally floats on top of your tongue and you can taste all the pearls. Would recommend. A little pricey for coffee and tea, but I really enjoyed it. This is a nice relaxing, hipster, chill place to catch up with a friend or study.

Searched, asked and found this gem. Hidden in a back alley in Sacramento, worth visiting for breakfast! Ordered ‘make my own omelet’ and it came out delicious. Had it with a coffee suggested by the lady behind the counter and it hit the spot as well. Old Soul Co is nicely situated inside what looks like an old industrial building. Lots of exposed ceilings and brick walls. Made for a welcoming vibe as soon as I walked in the door. Friendly staff.

After two visits so far, I’m quite enjoyed for this experience at this Old Soul Co location right at the Handle District. As I came here for my second visit during the Caffeine Crawl on 3÷5÷2016, the atmosphere is quite warming inside as I welcomed here. The concept is totally refurbished and maintained properly with all the industrial made accessories and equipment, and an open full kitchen room on the left. The employees are doing a great job for making the customers like me an amazing service. No cons at all. Now onto the drinks! I tried and sampled the Hambela from Ethiopia. As I slurp it, it tasted refreshing! I can feel the natural taste into my mouth filled with berries and bolder sun-dried beans. Additionally, I also tried their black tea scones. That scone is tasty and delicious as I can feel the soft chewiness of that pastry. What a great snack meal at all. There’s some parking available although it can get packed, so park if you can before it opens. Otherwise, you can ride a bike, walk, or use public transportation easier without the hassles. In the end, the Old Soul Co at the Weatherstone is the finest, local coffee and café duo shop that I’ve ever visited right in the Downtown neighborhood. A well, worthy visit. My rating: 4 solid stars.

Cool spot to visit in Midtown Sacramento located east of the capitol building. It is about a 10-minute walk from the Hyatt Regency and just a few minutes from the Marriott Residence Inn. Looks like an old warehouse/garage that was converted into a coffee house/restaurant. They have an extensive menu of coffees, teas, and specialty drinks. Plus, they serve beer after 11am! There is a good vibe inside. Tables and couches randomly placed throughout the floor. They even have a kids’ table with a bookshelf of kid’s book and activities. It was difficult to find a table. They do that thing where you order your food, you get a number, and then you go find a table. It really bothers me when places do that because people usually walk in and find a table and then go place order. Then you have that one person who takes a big table just for them. Luckily, it was just the wife and I so we were able to find a table after a large group of people left. At first we were standing at a makeshift bar that was used for the shop that was littered with supplies and shipping boxes. I started with cherry Danish, peanut butter cookie with pecans, and a chocolate filled croissant. The pastries were such a wonderful treat so early in the morning. Everything was fresh and when the pastries are gone that means no more for you. Get them while they’re fresh. I went with the breakfast scramble special; eggs mixed with Italian sausage on top of some pesto with a couple slices of bread. The scramble was great but I noticed some mold on the bread and I showed one of the workers. It was not a big deal to me I just wanted to alert them of the possible moldy bread they might be serving. She said I handled it well and she was appreciative because I handled it gracefully. I guess people really freak out about stuff like that but I am a fan of Alexander Fleming and his contribution to medicine with penicillin; if it weren’t for mold we would not have the antibiotic. The worker refunded me back the money for my meal. That was nice of them. Wife went with the quiche and salad breakfast with a mocha. Just a word of warning, the coffee served is piping hot. Make sure to put on one of those cardboard sleeves. I almost dropped my cup after carrying it 5 feet. They may have a McDonald’s type lawsuit boiling. Stop by if you are in the area. Not a good place for groups.

Great food and coffee. Reasonably priced. Scones looked delicious. Husband had the sausage scramble. I had the Croque Monsieur. Half was plenty for me. Yummy and crunchy. We shared a latte which was so delicious that no sweetener was needed. Located on the alley between L Street and Capitol Ave. lots of inside seating with the warehouse feel. An old«Weatherstone» sign hanging on the back wall. Three small outside tables. And water bowls for four –legged family members.

I’ve been meaning to check out any one of Old Soul’s locations and finally woke up early enough to do so yesterday. *pats on back* There was a long line but it goes fast. Before arriving, I already knew I wanted the pretzel and lox but didn’t realize how much I would enjoy it! The soft pretzel bagel in combination with cream cheese and dill, topped with smoked salmon, capers and tomatoes was heaven! All that was missing were some red onions. My morning was off to a very good start. That, and the heart foam on my mocha, added a nice touch. I opted for fruit as my side for $ 2 more, added on a peanut butter toffee cookie and a pineapple pecan muffin and all were great. Definitely looking forward to coming back to this hipster coffee shop. Mostly looking forward to another round of that pretzel and lox! I usually rush to work and stop by Noah’s for a quick Nova Lox on Everything bagel and have always been content with that. Thanks, Old Soul, you’re worth losing that extra hour of sleep. Service was also amazing, employees here seem sincerely happy. =)

I wouldn’t change a thing about Old Soul in the alley. There’s indoor bike parking, free wifi, a community table, some great couches, the smell of coffee being roasted and baked goods being baked for all of the city’s Old Souls, beer, coffee and espresso drinks, kombucha, terrific food for any time of day(NOT just pastries as you find at many other coffee shops), rotating local art all over, and the best and friendliest group of people working here that you could hope to find. You can truly spend an entire day here and never have to leave.

Here’s a more in-depth review: I do not typically write lengthy reviews for places, but this one deserves it. The ambiance, which is accentuated by the warehouse/brick building, is very laid back and industrial, which is perfect for a date, study session, or quick coffee run. The staff is incredible, attentive, and friendly, all of which make for repeat patrons and impressed newcomers. This place doubles as its own coffee roaster, and you’ll see that business as well as the bustling kitchen and wonder when this place stops churning the gears. There is a daily rotational menu of breakfast/lunch items, as well as soups and quiches. I’ve tried many of the rotationals(pesto chicken sandwiches, french toasts, etc) as well as the regular menu items, all of which are served practically all day. Their granola bowl is quite hearty and filling, with a nice touch of sliced bananas on top, the fruits and greens salad comes with seasonal fruit flair, and the sandwiches are rather tasty and inventive. The best sandwich I’ve had there has to be the TBS(Turkey, Bacon, Swiss), which is conveniently located at the top of the chalkboard menu. It’s melty and delicious, so it’s worth trying. The coffee itself is rather exemplary as well. I’ve had many a latte’s here, and they’re done consistently across all baristas, the only difference being the latte art they decide to put on it, which is also a neat touch. They have a really great chai as well as rich milk chocolate, so if you’re not feeling coffee, you do have quite a few options. Did I mention that they serve beer and wine here? I’ve personally never had a glass here, but I’m sure it’ll call out to me in the summer. All in all, this is a 6 star place that’s docked down 1 star for being so popular that it’s sometimes tough to find a spot to sit(despite having ample seating spread out across the floor). This is a good problem to have, so they’re doing something right!

Worth the walk. Friendly staff that starts the morning great — smiles and good mornings. Clean with lots of locals, I have heard multiple times the use of names. The two mornings that I have been here it is full of people and many to go orders too. The food is great I had for breakfast the English Muffin no meat — egg avocado tomato and roasted veggies, extremely fresh and filling. Next time I am in Sacramento I will be back.

This place was awesome! I had the most delicious breakfast sandwich I’ve ever had(bacon, ham, avocado spread, tomato, thinly-sliced red onions, and white cheddar cheese on a pretzel brioche bun) while enjoying great live music in a pretty cool, comfy atmosphere. The service was great, very friendly and fast. The waitress even anticipated my need for hot sauce… definitely earned bonus points with me! My advice… don’t be afraid to ask a random stranger if you can sit at an open chair at his/her table. You may not get a seat otherwise on a Saturday morning :)

Old Soul Co is one of the original artisanal coffee houses in Sacramento. I remember them opening up and kicking off a wave of needed improvement in the local scene. Their combination commercial bakery, warehouse, and espresso bar in the rear alley between 17th&18th Streets near L Street is a funky combination of hipster swank and urban cool. Once you enter the large brick building, you can meander to the small, but well-equipped, espresso bar. They have all the drinks made to order with fresh roasted specialty coffee plus a selection of their delicious fresh baked goods. Lots of scones and muffins compliment the well-pulled drinks. They have lots of seating, but also usually lots of patrons, so finding a comfortable seat may be an issue during peak times. Good coffee also takes a long time, so do not expect a 30 second caramel latte to go. They also have a very good catering option to help stock a client meeting or staff party. Prices are reasonable and the quality is excellent. However, you have to give up the pleasure of heading into the alley and sinking into one of their chairs for a long, rainy afternoon.

Good food and coffee. We made a reservation on Unilocal and didn’t realize its primarily a coffee shop that happens to serve food, so it’s not a restaurant at all which was a bit awkward for a business breakfast. You order at the front, and they’ll yell your name for drink orders and will bring your food as long as you have the number placard at your table. Since we had a reservation for 6, they blocked off the huge table at the front — there isn’t really any other tables other than that, so beware if you’re coming in as a large group. I had the pretzel and lox, which is a lox sandwich with onions, tomatoes, capers, and lox on a pretzel bun(instead of bagel) with a delicious dill aioli. So good! I asked for fruit instead of potatoes/salad. Nice selection of pears, blood oranges, grapes, and figs. Ordered a soy Chai latte, dusted with cinnamon on top and was not overly sweet — very satisfying. We also ordered the mushroom tots from the specials, which didn’t sound very appealing on the menu, but man was it tasty! It was a delightful mix of adult gastropub(sautéed mushrooms, arugula salad, and fried eggs) and kids meal(tater tots). It was seasoned heavily, but that’s what makes it delicious. If you see it, order it!

This is one of the many places in Sacramento for coffee affectionados to visit. It feels like a mom and pop shop that has more than done it’s research to find the perfect beans for the best cups of coffee. Food is offered but for the visits to date I have imbibed in purely the coffee. The coffee has been right on point. Good balances, bold notes and everything you expect from some of the best coffee around town. Service is fast and friendly. Coffee is excellent. I only wish this was closer to work.

The vibe here is urban, woodsy, garage and hidden feel. I like how it is tucked in an alley way. The layout in the inside they have 2 tables of 4 in the front, follow by a community wood table/bench, 3 individual 2 people tables, couches, and some more tables in the back. The inside is well lit and is great for studying, writing reviews, or reading. There are limited outlets so just be ware you might not be able to charge your devices. The inside smells great too because they do serve food such as sandwiches, salads, and fresh fruits. The outside of this store, there are 4 two people tables on the side of the wall. This is a dog friendly place, on the outside there are 2 bowls filled water for the pups. Parking can be difficult and you may need to do some street parking around the area. Drink hot drip coffee — Its a cold day today, and i wanted something hot and warm but without the calories. I made a small order which is $ 2.45 and left room for crème but end up just drinking it straight black. The taste is great and strong, as I’m typing away i can feel the dehydration from the tongue to throat. Thank goodness i have a water bottle next to me to sip on water after each sip. Don’t want those nasty brown teeth stains. latte — It was another cold rainy day when i first had my latte from this location. It was jammed packed that day, and i remembered i had to share a table with a couple who was dating, and when i asked if i can sit at their table of 4 since that was the only open spot atm, they were nervous and kind of said ummm sure… lol… although i did have my headphones on so it was less awkward. Anyways i had a cute leaf design on top of the latte. It was not sweetened and it was strong. It was served in minutes and the price was $ 4 something. I did enjoy it and it woke me up for the day. Self serve water, condiment bar — This is place by the entrance, self serve water and the milk and sugar sitting out for you to drench it inside your coffee and drinks. From the past couple times, i had friendly smile greetings and are helpful and quick on their toes. I do enjoy this place and like coming here to iPad and chill. Feels great to get to sit down and enjoy a nice cup of love. Thanks for reading and lets drink my coffee!

Don’t you just love when you fall so in love with a new place that you can’t wait to review it?! I finally got to go have a meal at sac’s infamous little hole in the wall coffee shop, and oh my goodness… I’m infatuated. I have gone one other time tasting the lavender lemonade, dying to try their food. This trip, my barista’s name was Kiley, and she gave me the best suggestions. She suggested a «dirty chai» which was a chai latte including a shot of espresso, and she was nothing short of an artist. My drink was not only beautiful,(just like the restaurant itself) but it tasted fantastic. She also suggested their crème brûlée French toast. French toastified focaccia bread .yes. Focaccia bread. with a toasted sugar on top, a side of eggs and potatoes. It was so impressive how simple the sides were and how elaborate the French toast was, all equally delicious. I am so in love with this new find. Amazing coffee, food, and customer service. It’s a good thing I don’t live closer.

This place is a total hole in the wall. The only way to reach it is down an alley. If this isn’t your destination you’d never find it. I was brought here last year by a friend and tried their kombucha. I’d never tried it before but they advertised it on their menu as home brewed. I asked for a sample and they happily poured me a shot glass full. It was very tasty so I got a glass. It looks a bit like beer so I entertained the person behind me who thought I was getting a cold one before 10a.m. Since then I have returned with my girlfriend and we had lunch. They have many tasty salads and sandwiches. They also have plenty of seating. I’m not sure if they any car parking as I always walk. Today I went there for breakfast. We were out of oats, bread, and the milk had spoiled overnight. I was happy to find something that looked semi healthy. English muffin, farm fresh egg, cheese, and grilled veggies(Spinach, tomatoes, mushrooms, peppers, onions.) The English Muffin was a bit hard, but other than that it was great. I’d order it again. I like the changing art work.

After a long hike all morning at Hidden Falls in Auburn, we came here to recharge our energy. Out of a party of 5, I was the only one who was not very pleased with my meal. :0(I do not want to say bad things for little small places, but I can easily say everyone at my table really enjoyed their meals. Maybe I was just a fluke. I never go back to complain only because I learned from people I know personally who work in the food industry to never say a thing until you make it home due to YOUNEVERKNOWWHATHAPPENSBACKTHERE. In all fairness… everyone enjoyed their food at my table. I had a Turkey Sandwich. The«lemonade» I had tasted like a normal lemonade. I dont remember but it had a quirky name for it. The problem with my Turkey Sandwich is that the avocado mix inside had parts that were very salty and some parts that were not. I assumed they must’ve not mixed the salty parts well enough. I was the odd ball out of my group. OHWELL… better luck next time.

The ambiance and décor is fantastic. When they say it is in the ally. It is literally in the alley! Follow the alley directly behind Crepeville and it will lead you to the entrance. The ambiance and décor is so comforting. They have plenty of places to do homework and study. They also have free wifi which is a major plus for a student. The baristas were very knowledgable and they were able to accommodate my lactose free needs. However, they weren’t very welcoming or the friendliest. Overall, a good place to get homework done and grab a coffee.

Sort of annoyed with the service I had here today. I’ve been here several times before and this is my third review. I was going to order my typical drink – a 12oz mocha – when I noticed that they also appeared to have 8oz paper cups behind the counter. I sometimes like to order 8oz or 10oz size mochas from places when they have the cups available. So when I asked if I could get my mocha in a smaller size the barista said NO. What?! I’m seeing the smaller cup size in front of me and you’re telling me it’s not available?! She said that cup is only for lattes and espresso. FAIL. I would be fine with paying for a 12oz mocha made to order in an 8oz cup, but saying you can’t do that when requested? Not impressed at all. As I’m drinking my 12oz mocha, I’m also realizing the espresso tastes burnt and was served too hot. I don’t think I’ll be going out of my way to come back again anytime soon since Temple, Insight and Chocolate Fish all have better coffee.

I went to this coffee company BEFORE a lovely dinner date with my boyfriend downtown-yes, you read that right before.(Sometimes I randomly get these insane pregnancy like coffee cravings out of nowhere). We walked in and I was immediately taken with the kitschy décor, and chill vibes. I had been checking out pictures of the coffee from other Unilocalers, and I was impressed. So, I believe I ordered a macchiato or an iced coffee based off of a previous picture that I had seen on here of the most captivating iced drink where both milk and coffee were swirling together in harmony. Weird I know-but I love when my coffee and milk have separation. This company delivered just that. The coffee was excellent as well! Sweet, savory, and robust. Can’t wait till my next visit!
