Unilocal: «You’ve checked in here 4 times! What keeps you coming back?» What keeps me coming back… it is a 6 minute walk from my mothers house, so I can sleepily make my way down the street in my PJs whenever I am staying with her! The coffee is, and say what you will, in my opinion better than Starbucks. By a landslide. If you think otherwise, go two feet further and take a left, and leave us awesome Peetees to ourselves! The staff here is awesome. If your having a rough morning they unknowingly make it better by being themselves. Ask them how they are, and YOU will feel better. Coffe. Coffee. Coffee. Looking forward to checking in here again on my next visit!

I’ve been coming here for 5 years and have seen a lot of various employees and changes to this store. I gotta say, right now, they got it going on! Everyone is so kind, and seem to work their butts off. Lucia, when she’s here, is a gem. She’s always got a laugh to share. Cynthia, the manager, has really done a fantastic job hiring– it reflects in the attitudes of some awesome folks: Julian, who’s always happy to talk about coffee varietals, Jacob, who’s often found behind the bar in the morning making perfect drinks, Michaela who does ALL of the fantastic drawings on their signs– and boy is she talented! Kelly, who waves at me as soon as I walk in and never fails to make me smile, Aaron, who loves making people happy– the list goes on! I love this store. They have great coffee, it has a small, neighborhood feel, and everyone works hard to make it awesome. Thank you for being so rad!

My buddy and I wanted coffee and a place to work on some video clips we created earlier in the day. Thankfully, this Peet’s was close, which meant we didn’t need to be on the busy freeway to go here from the 28th and B/Sutter’s Landing skate park. My buddy had never been to Peet’s, so we ended up with two medium Caramel Javivas. The person ringing it up, said $ 4.50, and I mentioned that we wanted one each. I thought that it was really $ 9.00, so I gave him that much money.(Oh, wait, is there an introductory special right now?) He handed half of it back to me, without an explanation. It wasn’t long and they’d finished with the Javivas.(They still sound like a coffee spill on a Viva paper towel, but they taste great.) We sat down and started on the video clip selection and assembled the video. They were cleaning up around us, as every other customer had left the store. I asked if we were in the way and they were gracious. Later, I could hear one of the employees stating that we were in the only location that needed to be cleaned. I swear that we weren’t there more than an hour, but I could hear his dissatisfaction that we stood in his way. We would have moved. We cleaned up, and got ready to leave. We apologized on the way out, as he moved to clean the only area remaining. He seemed to not hear us, but I suspect that he heard us just fine.

I have been coming to this Peet’s location for some time, as my mother is a Peet’s coffee addict. ;) Although, I can honestly say every barista at this shop(and most Peet’s I have been to) are always polite and give awesome suggestions. Of course, our typical go-to(especially for Summer) is the Iced Americano.

If you are a fan of reliable wifi, do not go here. The service is day to day. It ranges from so so to no no. Corporate is aware of the problem but seems to ignore it. Oddly, Starbucks is 100 yards away and their wifi is consistently crisper than a fresh nacho chip.

I have chose Peet’s for years. Cynthia at 38th and J, I followed from the 20th and J location when she received her own store she is awesome! Maria, Dahn, Amy, Lionel at the 20th/J are equally as great as Cynthia’s crew here. Hand crafted coffee at its best, Peet’s Coffee 38th& J Street, Sacramento! With a high volume of foot and dog walking traffic, a dog attendant to hold dogs while I went in to get coffee weekend mornings would be brilliant. A Peet’s store in Santa Monica did this, smart! #berkeleybasedgoodness

I frequent this Peet’s location about once a week. The staff is super nice and really good to their regulars. They don’t rush you and, if they aren’t busy, engage in friendly conversation.

My fave area Peets! The people are friendly and easy going. I drank a cup of black coffee at 4 pm, and here it is, 3 am, no slumber in sight.

Peet’s has the best coffee around. It’s real coffee that wakes you up. I love their maple scones too – the BEST. Like dessert. I just tried the Mayan Mocha, no syrup and it was great. I’m usually a single pump mocha girl.

I have been to this Peet’s location on 3 different occasions when going to or from the Mercy a few streets away… Pros: Friendly staff, plenty of room to sit and sip with a clean restroom. Cons: The parking in this area is horrible so I do not go to this Peet’s as often as I would like. Will go back.

Friendly, courteous, efficient staff, soft seating against the wall, almond milk in addition to soy now available at all Peets making for another vegan option for tasty lattes and masala chai drinks, etc. Plenty of vegan sweets, small bags of mixed nuts, nuts and dried fruit, etc.

This location seem pretty quiet and has plenty of seatings indoor and some outdoor with umbrellas. Since there were no one ahead of us, we got our drinks quickly. Need to make a metal note to request less ice for the matcha green tea soy latte. It’s mostly ice and not much green tea. The hubby had a small cappuccino which is served in a round cappuccino cup instead of a mug for the larger sizes so its more visually appealing to me since that’s what a cappuccino should look like. No cappuccino art unfortunately but the hubby said the coffee is not bad. Noticed they play classical music.

The customer service has improved 10-fold. Very, very happy with this location over the last year or so. All of the Baristas I’ve dealt with have been very attentive whilst not being over-bearing or fake. And of course, their coffee is delicious. i’m here a couple times a month these days — great improvement.

A small, intimate Peet’s. Free coffee every Christmas. Seating out front so your dog can people-watch. Aside from the fact that I can buy two banh-mi sandwiches way over on 65th Ave for the price of one soy latte, I get a decent deal for the coin profferred.

I’ve always had a very friendly experience here, and the baristas know their juice. It’s more like a comfy neighborhood joint than a chain.

Peet’s coffee has been a staple in my life for years now, thanks to a significant other who is not only a coffee addict but a Peet’s superfan. This Peet’s is pretty standard — the service is usually good, the drinks are good, and this location is pretty low-key. While Peet’s has gone a little Starbucks-y in the last few years(oatmeal, really?), they do maintain a high standard of quality in both their products and their service. Peets baristas still pull shots and actually steam milk/soy by hand. My only complaints are: 1) when they get busy, the baristas can seem to get easily flustered and start making mistakes. And 2) Peet’s corporate office needs to stop trying to compete with the latest coffee shop trends and just focus on doing what they do best — superior coffee and tea. Oh, a third complaint — the sludge they use for chai lattes at the bar is terrible; go for the real thing from their actual tea.

Ok, so apparently I’ve become a customer service fanatic. But I mean seriously, is it that hard to ask? With so many stores to choose from, I refuse to give my business to this Peets unless absolutely necessary. Customer services at this location NEEDSSERIOUSWORK. I’ve walked out on more than one occasion; not a good sign. Please, people, lets be friendly AND efficient at the same time. I promise its doable.

As far as coffee goes, I love these guys way more than Starbucks. They don’t offer up much meal-wise(and sometimes I do crave a spinach feta wrap), but the coffee is solid. I usually just get an iced coffee… it’s cheaper and stronger than at Starbucks, and they don’t douse it with pump after pump of sweetener. This location has a nice atmosphere and a little bit of outdoor seating. It can get a little crowded from the hospitals in the area, but if you don’t go early in the morning or around lunch it isn’t bad. However, there is no parking lot, and street parking is very limited. One street requires a permit, there’s a bus stop right in front of it, and J street can be tricky to cross with traffic. I’ve had to bypass it a few times due to parking, and try to survive the morning caffeine-free. That’s never pretty.
