Stephen Weber, MD – Orthopedic Specialists of Sacramento

My experience with Dr. Weber was very positive. I had some pain in my shoulder and was referred to Dr. Weber by my primary doctor. I received a quick accurate diagnosis. The shoulder placement surgery went very well and was shorter than expected. The post op care was excellent. He was very professional and answered all my questions.

Dr. Weber did rotator cuff repairs arthroscopically on my shoulder Thursday.
This surgeon is excellant! I have only needed 2 norco, and only took them because I was fearful of having pain. After hearing nothing but pain horror stories from 6 people I can honestly say my pain has been on average a level 1 to 4, at most.
I was expecting the worst.
An expert experienced surgeon will take minimum time to achieve maximum results. Resulting in less swelling and pain postop.
I read some reviews and was anticipating a grump, but found him personable and knowledgeable.
If you are considering shoulder surgery I highly recommend him. He has excellent credentials and does more shoulder arthroscpopies than anyone else in Sacramento. I am an RN, and did my research.

I recently received a diagnosis that compelled me to comment on Dr. Stephen Weber. The treatment I received was absolutely inexcusable. A short history of my situation… I have been dealing with severe and debilitating shoulder pain for a few years after an injury I incurred at work. After fighting tooth and nail with work comp, I was finally granted a chance to see an orthopedic surgeon to evaluate my diagnostics. I was also hoping to have Dr. Weber approve a MRI arthrogram (the only definitive way to prove my diagnosis). I knew without his approval, work comp insurance would likely deny it, even though my primary physician and two other doctors had wanted me to get one (if you have ever dealt with work comp and are actually injured, you understand the emotional distress I’ve gone through).
I had a good experience with Dr. Weber’s receptionist, the medical assistants or nurses (not sure) were nice, but a little cold. I waited in the exam room while Dr. Weber was apparently reviewing my diagnostics (MRI without contrast of shoulder and x-​rays). He came into the room, told me my shoulder was probably fine and that my pain was only coming from my neck. I explained to him that couldn’t be possible because of the type of shoulder pain. He did a brief exam and told me he didn’t think an arthrogram was necessary (even though it’s the only way to prove what was wrong). Basically he spent less than fifteen minutes with me and completely tore my heart to pieces. He did not listen to my concerns, he just shrugged me off and told me it was only my neck. I left his office sobbing.
When I told my doctor about this, he was not happy. My primary physician was finally able to get the MRI arthrogram approved after a lot of work. When I got the results, I knew that I had to write a review of Dr. Weber. The results showed that my shoulder has a significant injury… WOW. So if I just lived with Dr. Weber’s negligent diagnosis I would not have known that I do in fact need a different type of treatment. Luckily for me, my primary physician and I did not back down. Dr. Weber did not even give my case any thought… it’s as if he just didn’t care that my future rests on what happens with this injury. I felt like he could not have cared less. He was arrogant and had no interest in what I had to say about my injury.

On the one year anniversary of my Ream and Run shoulder replacement surgery, I felt compelled to comment on Dr. Weber and the sub-​standard level care I received from him, his practice, and his staff. Eighteen months ago I saw Weber, a couple of times, for severe shoulder pain. After three appointments, one of which I had to get his computer to work so he could read my x-​ray, he diagnosed me with severe shoulder arthritis. Not only was he arrogant, but, he told me that I was just going to have to live with my shoulder arthritis pain and offered me no treatment options to improve my quality of life. Well guess again Weber. I chose not to take your ridiculous advice and I scheduled a consult with Dr. Frederick Matsen at the University of Washington Medical Center to discuss my options. Unlike Weber, Dr. Matsen was a consummate professional. He treated me with respect, and offered me a solution to resolve the arthritis problem in my shoulder, a permanent solution to relieve my pain and allow me to live the active lifestyle I was accustomed to living, Ream & Run surgery. Weber, do your patients a favor, refer your patients with shoulder arthritis to Matsen, he runs circles around you. FYI, I did 200 pushups yesterday… on your plan Weber I’d be sitting on my ass and sucking my thumb simply trying to manage my pain. Time for you to get educated on these procedures or retire. I would recommend the latter. To anyone with shoulder arthritis, go to UW and consult Matsen… you’ll be happy you did.
