I live in Roseville so this sushi restaurant is kind of far from me. Came here w a friend last week and absolutely loved the atmosphere and the sushi rolls. The Lion King was def my favorite roll. I usually go to Arigtatos since it’s close to my place but after trying this restaurant out, I think I found my new to-go place for sushi. The quality is so much better and the service was amazing. Sushi Hook definitely deserves 5 stars!

This place is terrible, the sushi is filled with rice so you dont taste the quality of the contents of the roll. The service is very poor. If you ask me Dennys has better service and quality than this.

The sushi is hella bomb! The place is hecka busy sometimes so you want to go there early. I love all their rolls, pretty good size too. I’m going to recommend this place to all my friends and family!

I love this place! The rolls are decently sized for their price, I usually get their lunch special though. The atmosphere is awesome and welcoming, very traditional looking. The head sushi chef is super friendly and not afraid to make small talk. They have a lot of regular customers so that should speak volumes about their quality of food! My only gripe would be the price. If you’re not careful you’ll end up spending a lot of money(hence why I get the lunch special). Overall it’s an excellent sushi place and I would recommend it if you’re in the area :)

Everything here is always good but the No name roll is the crowd favorite for sure. We get it every time. The sushi here is first class and the place is always bustling with activity. Many traditional and American style dishes here.

Really good sushi, we got there around 6:30 and were seated right away, however there was a line out the door when we were leaving so get there early. We had the Lasagna rolls and the spicy California crunch rolls… both were very good. Also tried the melon soda… very nice taste! Service was prompt and our two servers were very nice.

Customer service during dinner is not so good because they get busy. It took about 30 minutes for us to get our food. During lunch today, they weren’t busy and customer service was great. It didn’t take long for them to service our food. Overall, best sushi place I’ve had and 50% off sushi rolls! Great deal.

I’ve been waiting years to come here, since they do half off rolls, and I know their rolls are famous for being bigger and tastier than arigatos, not to mention cheaper. It didn’t disappoint! The rolls were size-able but the lion king roll kept falling apart. No big deal though since they offer such great portions of ginger, which I LOVE. AND complimentary edemame if you check in. :) If you’re in the area, you can’t skip out on hitting this place up.

I love this place! I go at least 3 times in a month! I’m so addicted to sushI. Their sushi rolls are always 50% off and the rolls are pretty big compare to other sushi places I’ve gone to before. I usually order the crunch monkey, the island, lion-king, the Webster, the my my, and their teriyaki beef bowl! These are my favorite! I don’t think I’ll ever get tiered of their food. Ps… If you ever come here make sure to bring a jacket, it gets very cold inside.

Rude Connie was our waitress. No refills on drinks, and it seems like she was trying to avoid our needs as in getting more napkins. It pisses us off because we are regular customers here and this is the first time we’re getting treated like this. She even rushed us to pay our bills, seriously? I made sure she didn’t get any tip from me cause rude people don’t deserve shiit. Other than that, I like sushi hook! :)

This is my second time here. I am surprised that I came back. I can’t even remember what I got the first time around. It was a roll, but I really can’t remember which one. Tonight I had the Saba shioyaki. I liked it. A lot. Essentially, I can take or leave the raw fish here… but I will be back for the mack… erel. The staff is attentive and helpful and friendly. And young. :) Be extra nice to them.

Sushi is certainly cheap here… but not very good quality. It was quite busy for the middle of the week. My old coworker and I went in and got much more food than we probably should have. Everything was oversauced and their rice wasn’t evenly packed. Every roll fell apart upon trying to pick it up with chopsticks. We got a salad and a free order of edamame for Unilocal check-in. Meh.

CHEAPSUSHIANDAWESOMEATMOSPHERE? Who wouldn’t come here? I love this place because of how cheap and good the sushi is. I always come here with good company so I enjoy every meal I have. Everyone always seems to enjoy their food and are super happy. Chirashi: 3.5÷5 — The chirashi is subpar. I would have expected better presentation and for the fish to be cut into thinner slices instead of cubes. I think it’s around the same price as Sushi Q, but I totally prefer there’s over Hook’s. It was good though! The fish was fresh. Chicken Teriyaki bowl: 4⁄5 — it’s pretty good and the serving is a good size. Service here is definitely slower than most other restaurants. It always seems like they lack servers compared to the amount of chefs they have. I love how you always receive free edamame when you check in and their complimentary sumomono salad is delicious!

This is a good spot to go to if you are broke, or if you have a ton of patience. The quality of the rolls are dependent on the number of people in the restaurant. More people = lower quality. It’s kind of hit or miss during daytime, but its almost always crowded at night. What bugs me is the incredibly slow service and the rudeness of the manager/owner. I once came in to order to-go. I went to the cash register as instructed. The old Asian dude, I’m sure is the owner, was working it. He was ringing up some bills and looked up at me without acknowledging me. I said to myself, OK, ill let him finish ringing up this check and I’ll speak up. He continued to ignore me. I then said«Excuse me, I’d like to place an order to go please». He looked up and said«OK few more minute». I waited till he cleared two more checks and again said«Excuse me, can I place an order to go?» Again he gave me the same response. Uhm dafuq?! I’m a customer willing to pay for your business and you can’t set aside 1 minute for a to-go order? I waited damn near 5 minutes two feet in front of him, watching him be an idiot. I just told him«F*#% that then, you just lost my business» and left. It’s hard for me to wanna support a business that has crap leadership with zero customer service skills. It reflects upon everything inside that spot. Good luck finishing your food and getting the bill within 20 mins. And once you put your card/cash on the bill, good luck getting that picked up within another 20 mins.

So i seen a pic of «unaju»(hope i spelled it right) from a fellow Unilocaler and it looked good! So after that i made it a mission to come over here and see what is about. We walked in the place was pretty busy people waiting at the front entrance and getting crowded in that particular spot. When you walk in dont forget to sign in so they can call you either wise u’ll be there waiting for a hot minute. Finally we got called to out table, they sat us right in front of the sushi bar in a child size table. The waitress seemed like she was nice but also failed to show us that us as customers were a priority. She didnt introduce her self, when she brought our food she didnt bring us plates, nor that little mixing bowl for the wasabi, we had to ask her for more wasabi, asked for more soy sauce she never bothered to ask how the food was nor bring us more napkins. She was to busy gossiping with her co workers each time she got s chance to go by the soda machine. We never once got offered a refill. Sad to say the food was pretty good but the service for me was horrible. Taste wise on the food i would give it a 5 the unaju bowl was great, the lambada roll was good, candy cane, rainbow roll, samurai roll were all good the samurai was my favorite besides the unaju bowl. Being seated in front of the sushi bar sucked specially in those child size tables. One of the guy waiters kept bumping into my wife. Im a changed man a much more calm and understanding man, so i didn’t get up and start to fight no one i just had to apologize to my wife for the shitty table and placement. I will be back here but if im offered to sit in those child size tables im saying hell no! I want a larger table. Our food hardly fit in that little table for Pete sakes! If it wasn’t for Olivias pic of unaju i wouldn’t ever came here thanks Olivia but if ur gonna vouch for a place make sure the service is also good please thanks dont let it happen again! Hahahaha reason for my 3 stars was for the service and the slippery bathrooms either than that i would of gave me 5 i wish i could give a 3 and a half stars. Oh one more thing if u check in u get a free appetizer(idk how to spell it) is those sweet pea looking things their pretty good.

The Sushi Hook has definitely hooked my husband & I! I haven’t been here since it opened & was located on the opposite corner, but even with those changes I can say that this sushi restaurant & the quality of this restaurant is still top notch! We ordered the BBQ tuna & pepperfin to start our meal &OMG… The bbq tuna was definitely one of the best I’ve ever had! It’s cut in smaller pieces & served with onions in a terrifically yummy garlicky BBQ-like sauce(soooo damn good)! The pepperfin was really good, not the best I’ve ever had, but so fresh & still delicious! For our main courses my husband ordered 3 different rolls(I don’t remember their names) that were very fresh, delicious &HUGE in size! I had the Unaju(eel over rice) which was again… Delicious! Lots of eel covering a bowl of rice… So much & filling that I was only able to eat half. It really is great to know that we have such awesome sushi restaurants in the Sacramento area! The food, staff & service was all great! We’ll be back!

Best 50% sushi place in Sac! I love the quality and quantity of their rolls. We ordered: crunch monkey, spicy California crunch, crack cocaine(not on the menu), samurai, and spider roll. Of course, when you check in you will get free edamame! Also, we ordered sake bomb and a pitcher. It was only $ 13! The rolls were great! I love the taste and the presentation, which was a plus . Service wise: Our server was slacking… He didn’t even greet us until 20 minutes later. Another server came to greet us to take our order for appetizer and sake bomb. He didn’t even bother checking up on us at all after taking our order and bringing out our food. I saw him sitting and chilling by the bathroom area. So idk how he got the job lol. Service wise sucks, but the food is highly recommended!

I so wanted to love this place but after a few more visits, I’ve made up my mind, it’s just not for me. Customer service was worse with every visit. Just the basics: slow service, no utensils, no ginger/wasabi with sushi, wet plates(sometimes not completely clean), no napkins, no refills… we’d have to flag someone down for all of these things. It’s just been an uncomfortable mess. 2-stars for their late hours and decent food.

Prices are half off rolls – dine in or to go, however regular prices on some of them are like $ 18 – 22 range(ex: titanic, tiger). That’s a bit steep for a roll of sushi, so I don’t know if its a markup to make you think you actually get half off. Just a thought. Came here with the siblings and the nephew because they were craving for sushi. I’ve been here before and I remembered I liked the kimchi udon. I ordered that with a couple rolls to share. The sisters ordered a few rolls – alligator and spider and the special(includes house roll, rice, chicken teriyaki, 2 egg rolls, and slices of orange). The nephew ordered the Pepperfin. The Pepperfin was sliced very thick which didn’t look appealing. The rolls – it was like the rice was overcooked or it had too much sauce because it was soggy. The rolls would fall apart before I it landed in my mouth. It’s a bit disappointing. The price wasn’t bad with the«half off» but I’ve had better quality sushi. I won’t return for awhile.

Check in for a free bowl of edamame! FOOD — Sushimi Salad: assorted raw fish and mixed greens. Huge salad. The fish was okay.3/5 — Veggie Dragon: deep fried eggplant and asparagus, avocado, and cucumber, topped with sweet sauce. Good but I need fish. 3⁄5 — Anna Roll: deep fried shrimp, cream cheese, albacore, and avocado, topped with smoked salmon, a sweet, creamy sauce, masago, green onions, and sesame seeds. Crunchy and sweet, with the perfect amount of cream cheese. 4⁄5 — Red Dragon Roll: deep fried shrimp and cucumbers, topped with spicy tuna, sweet and spicy sauce, masago, green onions, and sesame seeds. Sweet & crunchy. It could have been a lot spicier. 4⁄5 SERVICE I was not greeted or acknowledged at the door. It took a several minutes before our waiter came to take our order after bringing us our beverages. The staff were not friendly or attentive. It even took awhile for us to get our bill after tagging our waiter down. 2.5÷5 FINALTHOUGHTS The food is good for it’s cost. I would come back. Hopefully they’ll have better service the next time around. I probably came by on an off day.
