Was in town for work and sat at the bar for an awesome dinner. Service was super friendly and I felt more than comfortable being alone. I had an awesome house margarita(perfectly made, not too sweet and could taste the tequila!) and the salad with sunflower seeds and cheese, a side of fried plantains — DELISH!!! — and the shrimp ceviche. The ceviche came with baked corn tortillas and was really tasty. I walked around town for awhile trying to decide on somewhere to eat and I’m so happy I ended up here! The atmosphere was relaxed and food really fresh.

Had the traditional margarita, which was wonderful. The service on the other hand was lacking, to say the least. The bar top was dirty when we got there, which is totally understandable, but stayed dirty until we asked the bartender to wipe it off. We were only given one menu for both of us to look at(not a big deal, but why not two?). We ordered the guacamole, which took almost no time at all, but then we watched as it sat on the ledge, about 5 feet from us, behind the bar. The bartender didn’t bother to give it to us until we asked about the status of it, even though we watched him acknowledge it sitting there initially. We were never given silverware, napkins, or plates, so we paid the check and left. While I totally understand that none of these are major crimes or even worth bringing up individually, together they painted a pretty poor picture.

This place was fantastic! I sat at the outside bar and the bartender, Brian was amazing! Very knowledgeable about his mezcal and tequila. I suggest this mezcal drink that he makes or the cucumber and jalapeños tequila drink. Very delish!

We dropped in for Sunday lunch. Nice place with good ambience; live music was pleasant but a tad too loud for conversation. Server seemed to be overwhelmed; didn’t screw anything up but wasn’t stopping by unless summoned, either. Chips and salsa arrived after 25 minutes. 25 minutes for chips and salsa… Food took well over 40 minutes. Once it arrived it was pretty good but not sure it was worth the sparse service and the wait.

We were a group of four people who ordered chicken tacos, pork tacos, pork tostada and beef tostada. The chicken and pork tacos were amazing. It included 3 big tacos which fills you up really well and they were delicious. The pork tostada and beef tostada were delicious as well, however, the tostada was made with baguette bread. The service was good and fast !!!

Great atmosphere! Good food. .we sat outside in the patio and I had the chicken quesadilla it was filled with cheese but not much else I was hoping for tomatoes, onions and spices but it was bland and kinda oily, other items we ordered were the Huinic(pork) and Malinche(chicken) tortas both pretty good but the sandwich bread and the chips were also very bland… the waitress was very nice but young and didn’t speak English very well so service could have been better. They also have a charming bar area outside and more dining and seating on both floors so I will be back another day to try other menu items.

The food was amazing and deserves four stars. Tried octopus for the first time with the shrimp and octopus ceviche. We had our dog with us and the patio was the perfect place for us. Very accommodating. It’s just a shame that the service was so dismal. We weren’t the only table outside and it wasn’t an odd time of day. But our waitress never refilled our drinks or even offered. Service gets a single star.

Best authentic Mexican food in town with great nutritious options! I really enjoy the fresh guacamole(ask for the habañero hot sauce too), a cup of the Mayan soup, and the Bacalar salad. If I’m there for dinner, I usually enjoy the carne asada(nice plantains too). This is not the cheapest food in town, nor does it taste like it. Great breakfasts too. I’ve been enjoying this restaurant for years, but I miss the days when they were across the street. They were next door to Claude’s Bistro(later Claude’s Chocolates). The restaurant was smaller then, but when the owning family was making the food, it was a little more consistent and always awesome. They used to have the best Mexican hot chocolate in town, but they didn’t have any this past year, and I’m truly disappointed. The cinnamon(and whatever else is in grandma’s recipe) makes for a delicious cup of chocolate. Half-star lost because the hot chocolate is missing! :)

Food is bland, charged for extras that should be included — fajitas with lots of innards but only 3 shells and we get charged for extra shells. Sangria was bland like the rest of the food but not bad. Overall, average drink and below average food. Service was good tho!

We were in St Augustine for the weekend and we came here twice. First, we had just left the fort and had done a lot of walking around town all afternoon so we were wanting a courtyard bar to go relax at. Their courtyard was just what we were looking for. My boyfriend ordered Mexican beer, I had red wine sangria and we ordered guac & chips with a side of salsa. Very good. It’s hard to find places that make guac right(it’s usually bland, watery, and not fresh… oh and it is usually a small portion) This was very tasty, fresh guac. Salsa was pretty good too. Our bartender was very good(and even made sure to order the salsa as a side in order for it to be priced cheaper). Second, next morning– our last morning– we needed a place to have breakfast. We recalled seeing breakfast/brunch on their menu and hightailed it right back there. We were seated upstairs on the street facing balcony. The menu was small but had great options for both of us. We have recently traveled to Riviera Maya and were looking forward to their Mexican breakfast dishes. They were really good, similar to what we ate in Mexico. The portions were small, by today’s standards, but it was just the right amount of food to keep us going. The price was also quite reasonable. We had a very attentive and sweet waitress, I believe her name was Tayler. She also brought out their house habenero sauce(woo, just a dab will do ya!..) Whenever we’re back in St Augustine, I’m sure we’ll be coming back. Hopefully dinner next time.

Finally checked out St. Augustine and had to come check this place out. Overall it was good, wasn’t a 4 star only because of the limitations on food. expected a little more and wasn’t blown away by the seafood concept. Oysters with chorizo and spinach were cheesy as can be. good treat. Tried the fish torta(fish burger concept) and it was ok. Best thing hands down was the guacamole and tortilla chip. Our waitress was great though. We had a big crowd of 10 plus and she did an amazing job of attending to all of us.

We struck out on our pre-planned lunch options and ended up at Casa Maya. Pleasantly surprised! It looked like a potential tourist trap but the food ended up being pretty good. Very standard Mexican menu — the most unique thing is probably their selection of tortas(I got the chicken with chipotle one and it was great). The service was a touch slow and they served fruit-flavored water, so if that is not your thing, you were warned! Definitely adequate if you need to eat, but I wouldn’t seek it out.

Was looking for an authentic place in St. Augustine to eat breakfast and I settled on Casa Maya. The place was very homey and had a nice ambience. Our waitress was polite and service was very good. I started off with guac and chips which were delicious. I also had the chorizo omelette breakfast sandwich, which was the bomb — sooo tasty. The bread was warm and toasted just the right amount and the chorizo mixed very well with the dressing. The food was delicious and pricing was very reasonable.

Nice restaurant, the food is good, though I was not impressed. It is a specialty restaurant so I was hoping for more I guess. The service is great though and the place is beautiful. I would visit again to try more foods and have a better feel of it.

We enjoyed our meal very much. We were told it would be an hour wait but it turned out to be about 30 minutes. There is plenty of lounge seating around the bar area so we sat back and relaxed while waiting to be called. When we got seated the server told us that they had got hit and had to go out and purchase more food so they had a hold up on seating people. Service was prompt and the food was tasty and better than some of the higher priced restaurants. I would dodge fly go back.

This restaurant was okay for me. I just thought it was too pricey for what it was. My one small mixed drink cost $ 10& it was small. It was just alright. We had a steak & potatoes & sweet plantains. First bite was good. After that, I just didn’t think it was anything out of the ordinary. I ordered the Mahi with mango sauce, roasted veggies, and guacamole. The Mahi had to have the sauce on it, or else it was a little bit more fishy than I like. The roasted veggies were good. The guacamole did not have much flavor. My hubby kept saying my guacamole was better. How is it the best guacamole. Thank god it was my side, or else it would have been almost $ 9. Yikes. We had mango key lime pie for my dessert. I’m pretty sure they just bought it at Publix. Next time, I’ll buy a whole mango key lime pie at Publix for just over $ 5 instead of just one slice. I do like their outside courtyard. I wish I could have been upstairs. The waiter was nice. I wish he could have given me the other menu that had the horchata mixed drink, and other margaritas on them. I know! What’s with me adding everything up. It’s super touristy on this side of town. Hello, that’s expected, but overall quality for the price was ehh.

Loved the Yucatan salad with blackened mahi! Good food in a cute little place with upstairs seating and friendly service. It does have a little bit of an identity crisis based on the décor. The restaurant calls itself a tequila bar but the atmosphere indoors is far from it. Looks more like a casual lunch spot with an outdoor patio bar. Will have to try the Mexican entrees next time I’m in St. Augustine, but recommend as a good spot for a quick bite!
