The Wife never ate Sugarfire, I have at the Olivette location. We got the Meat Daddy because I haven’t had anything else but the delicious ribs. we liked every kind of meat they had, I saved the ribs for last. the ribs are so tender you can pull the bone out and eat it like a steak or sandwich, and it comes with dipping sauce All though the Slaw was nasty, it taste bland like hospital food I still give 5 stars for the Meat.

Staff and service were excellent and the facility was clean. Staff were very hospitable and gave great recommendations. The food was outstanding. I got the 2 meat combo, shredded pork and brisket with home style fries and gumbo. Many sauces to try but my favourite was the Texas hot bbq sauce. The gumbo was spicy but I enjoyed the heat. This place was highly recommended by locals as this is my first trip to St. Louis. Glad I went and listened to the locals.

Best BBQ in St. Louis. I recommend the 23 dollar sampler. It seems like a lot of money until you realize that you will need to box half and you actually get 2 meals. The sides special of the day is highly recommended. Sides of the day, like the Jambalaya tater tots, will rock your socks off. Don’t just order fries as your side. The old school desk seating is special, however some might not be crazy about it. I went as a business dinner by a vendor who asked me where is best bbq in St. louis. He said he was impressed and agreed, paying for my dinner afterwards. And, that’s why i ordered the most expensive entrée.

My husband said they have the best ribs ever. I enoyed the turkey. One time I had sides that were only okay and the next time they were great. Plenty to choose from. You can’t be shy to sit with other people. Sometimes that is the only seating available.

I wouldn’t call this great bbq, it was only ok, but I’ve also been spoiled by living in Texas and having a bbq savvy husband. The sauces were interesting and all were pretty good. We tried a little bit of everything, and maybe we went on an off day, but for the price I won’t be going back.

If you go when a manager or something is there it’s fine, other than that don’t bother. Drove 30 miles round trip to get home and see my 8 oz turkey was grey and slimy. I don’t bother trying to right their wrong, I gave THEM $ 30, plus $ 2 tip for to go order… Drive all the way home thinking about how good my sandwich is going to be… Get home, open the bag. Of course they gave me the wrong shit! This location only stays in business due to its name. It is far from what the other locations are. One of the first times I had SF St Charles, they delivered my food for $ 8 fee, plus I gave that guy a tip of $ 10. When I called to tell them my sandwich was wrong today, there was no offer of delivering my sandwich. Make the extra drive to another location. Also, follow their Facebook page… Look how often they push the leftover sides from the day or two before also. Not kidding, look for yourself.

The meats and sides are good enough I guess. The sauces are pretty weak, and they are not at each table or even in central location to use. They are usually scattered across all of the occupied tables. It’s extremely awkward to have to walk up to table of people who are eating and ask to use there sauce.

You can find Sugarfire Smoke House at 150 Elm Point Industrial Dr, St Charles, MO63301 on the corner of Elm St and Elm Point Ind Dr, not too far from highway 370(exit off Elm). This is an interesting Mid-Century Modern building with an up-swept roof– I’m not sure what it was originally built for, perhaps a diner or filling station? In any case, the building does the BBQ justice by providing a unique setting and an interesting ceiling for an airbrushed mural. You get in line and order at the counter(funny how this is now called«fast casual» when most BBQ restaurants have been serving this way since the beginning), first with your choice of meat(s) — many of the items are portioned out as you work through the line so by the time you get to the end everything is on a tray — literally. They forego the normal plates and serve the meats on brown butcher paper with the sides in small paper-fry baskets. There are several veggie options that don’t seem to be mentioned on the menu boards — look it over and grab what grabs you! You can pick up from a few different pickles and there’s plenty of sauces to try on the tables, along with rolls of paper towels, which you will need. Once you find a spot, pick up anything that you missed(a toothpick would be a good idea) and head to the drink station — I wasn’t familiar with anything on the fountain and was told that they were all local brands from nearby Wisconsin — seems it all had sugar too so I choose the unsweet tea mixed with a splash of sweet tea — it tasted fresh-brewed and quite good to this Georgia/Tennessee boy. This is a classic Southern style BBQ joint with lots of rind and smoky flavor throughout the great variety of meats. I didn’t get to sample everything, only having a short time for lunch, but I did manage to order a combination that included some delicious pork ribs(St Louis style, appropriately) and some super moist beef brisket. My order included 4 bones, about 4 – 5 ounces of brisket, a side of coleslaw and a side of succotash(fresh sauté of green beans, yellow and zucchini squashes). The service was quite good with the people behind the counter quite accommodating — seems they’re used to visitors that might not know what to order. They were also quite proficient in getting the meats on the paper so you can move to the sides — some of the sides take a bit longer, also some items may need to be cooked up so you might want to ask if you’re in a hurry. Next time I’ll try some of the other items but for today, what I had was quite filling. Overall, this rates as some of the better BBQ I’ve had and if you know me, you’ll know I’ve had more than my fair share. The brisket rivals some of the best I’ve had in Texas and the ribs were quite good. I was told that this was one of the better local BBQ and I believe it lives up to that claim. I’ll be back.

Sadly, I dropped by here recently and the food I got was NOT up to the 5 star review I gave previously. The fries were still fries and the cheesy potato hash was good; but the brisket(the reason I come here) was fatty, overcooked and dry, and was generally just not as tasty. Truth to be told, I didn’t even eat it all. I hope it was an aberration and I’ll give them another shot the next time I come to town, but this particular occasion was fairly lackluster and forgettable. :-/

This is some of the best BBQ area. If I want to treat myself i come here. They serve the local soda, have great choice of sauces, and their meat(all types) is delicious. You can smell this place from a mile away so don’t hesitate to stop in.

3 Stars– Big Muddy Sandwich 4 Stars– Value 4 Stars– Menu options 3 Stars– BBQ sauce 5 Stars– Hand cut Fries 2 Stars– Soda fountain Would I go again? It was fun to try the first time, but with so many other great places to eat in the area, probably not. But, with that said, it will probably end up on the food network. So, if you’re one of those people that likes to say«been there, done that» this is your spot. The most important thing to note if you try the big muddy sandwich : 1) don’t where anything you don’t want to be covered in sauce. 2) don’t try to eat this on a first date 3) you must try the hand cut fries as your side They have a wide variety of the large squeeze bottles of barbecue sauce on the table. Don’t be deceived by the Texas hot, it’s not! They pretty much all taste the same, sweet. Except for the mustard and the white sauce. The hand cut fries were the winner of the day. They were crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, with The perfect amount of coarse salt. I usually love to dip my fries in ketchup, but these were so good on their own, I didn’t want or need ketchup! The brisket was moist and tender. You could cut it with a fork. But there was absolutely no smoky taste. Delicious, but if you are a barbecue aficionado, it was lacking. The sausage had excellent flavor, with bits of pepper and cheese. The skin appeared to be natural casing with a «snap» when you bite. The sausage was lacking grill marks and that smoky flavor profile. It appeared to have been boiled. The portions are extremely generous. Make sure you are starving to death before you try the sandwich. However, I will say that the meat and the bun were only lukewarm. The sandwich would have benefited from a toasted bun. That would have kept it from soaking up so much sauce and getting mushy. If the meat and the bun had been hot and had that intense smoky flavor I crave, it would’ve been A homerun. But sadly, in my opinion it was lacking. If you are a brand-name soda fan, beware… There are no brand names here. Very few choices, and the choices definitely don’t include a diet option. There is however unsweetened tea. The ambience is fun, old drive-in diner converted to a barbecue joint. Colorful chalkboard menu and a mural on the ceiling make for unique dining experience.

Read this like 4.89 stars Okay. I literally had to stop eating to write this thing. Heard from some of the out-of-town locals that this was the place to eat… so I got in my cab and started back to the hotel… «Can we stop somewhere for food? What’s good around here?» «Sugarfire has good subs…» «I’m in the mood for a cheesesteak — but i thought it was a ‘Q joint?» Away we go… This place looks like an old school carhoppy burger joint from the outside(we did not go in). Used the carhop pull in — While checking out the menu, our cute server(dont judge me) came out and took our order: — 2 Brisket Cheesesteaks(one with LTM) — Brisket Plate(with Mac and Cheese and Mashed Pots) My cheesesteak was… transformative(and huge). Thick cut moist brisket, grilled peppers and onions with the LettuceTomatoMayo and cheese sauce, OHMYDAM. I took a bite and the sandwich fell apart(not a bad thing at all). I am torn betwixt eating this thing like an openfaced sammy or trying to fit this behemoth in my mouth(but I am by myself. sooooooo). I am at a loss for words. The brisket«plate» was hilarious. I got this order to go so they de-constructed the plate. One container containing my meat(wrapped in foil thankyouverymucho), my sides in separate containers — and let me say — the redskins garlic mashed… will make you smack somebody. Anybody. I won’t walk a mile for a camel(sorry RJR), but put an order of this at the finish line… the MNC is better than meh… looks like fake mac and cheese but made with real cheese sauce. The sauces. I really should have just stolen the entire complement of bottles. They were that good. Dragons Breath(brought a tear to my cabbies eye), Coffee(very flavorful) Black Cherry BBQ(after just a taste, now I’m a believer… sorry Monkees!), Carolina Mustard(mustardy and good), #47(just a sweet bbq) AND they had two more that I missed, Raspberry Black Pepper(who thinks of this stuff — really good) and Honey Badger(hot and sweet). Could drink gallons of any of these. MYONLYCOMPLAINTS: — Guys — bottle the sauces so that i can take them home — Only one size sweet tea(20 oz) So all in all, a really good eat, almost perfect…

Expanding the smoked meat horizon! Sugarfire Smoke House has ambition. You could tell from the beginning when they opened up in Olivette. Not only were they going to run with the big boys, they were going to run right past them. Don’t get me wrong. Pappy’s is still pretty well the celebrated staple, at least of the downtown world. But Sugarfire makes county life so much easier for people craving smoked meats. I’ve been to all three locations, and each one is just as good as the original. Currently, I am closest to the New Town location, and it has me coming back pretty frequently. Located at was once a Chuck-A-Burger car hop, Sugarfire New Town has made itself very much at home. I love how each location has its own daily special. If Olivette doesn’t ring your bell, New Town might have something different to enjoy. Overall, the menus are basically the same, but you can find different things on different days. And I love that about Sugarfire. As far as the meat, you really can’t make a wrong decision. The brisket is king. I’ve been on record saying Sugarfire’s brisket is the best, but I quite often lean towards the smoked turkey. Even if I choose a different meat, I almost always add four ounces of turkey to my order. There’s nothing new to say about this restaurant, expect the same amazing things said about Olivette. These guys are killing it, and I can’t wait to see what they do in the city. Watch out, Pappy’s and Bogart’s!

As close to BBQ perfection as there can be. I’ve never had a disappointing meal here and always look forward to coming back. Dare I say this is the best BBQ in St. Louis? This location has much more space and parking compared to the Olive Boulevard location, so I think it’s a better customer experience overall.

I love my Sugar Fire! I waited in line after a bunch of screaming kids. That says something. :) I actually ordered brisket, pulled pork, smoked fried artichokes(yep all for me) and my Aunt had cheesy grits with her turkey. I was a little bummed of my fat on my brisket. I actually gave it away. :(everything was great and sauces were amazing. Try that white BBQ. I love the mayo, horseradish and vinegar combo!

Local real sugar soda & local real flavorful beer is combined with flavorful smoked meats plus OK sides in a distinctive converted drive-in setting. I ordered the 2 meat combo of pulled pork & turkey(out of brisket). I enjoyed the stronger flavor of the pulled pork more. Turkey was great for turkey, but not my favorite. I had a creamy cole slaw & baked beans that were good, but not great. I wanted more flavor/personality. The 2 bean baked was the better attempt. I liked the touch of Wonder white bread, onions, pickles & pickled jalapeños to add at the registers. I really liked the«Texas Hot» sauce. The guys serving the the bbq & sides were nice & entertaining.(I am always impressed when people serving the public do not become robots)

Not bad at all! I am glad St. Charles is sloooowlllly but surely getting more restaurants that aren’t just big chain places. And yeah, Sugarfire is a chain, but it’s a local chain! I am still not super crazy about their sides, but whatever. Fuck sides. I came here for MEAT. MEATDAMMIT. PUTTHATBIG, JUICYSTACKOFMEATINMYMOUTHAWWWYEAH. *wipes drool off face* Ahem. But yeah. I like that their meat(pulled pork, I’m lookin’ atchu!) is pretty darn good. The slaw wasn’t bad either but seems like slaw would be pretty hard to fuck up. Also appreciate the fact that there are many sauce options to choose from. The 47 was probably my fave, also liked the sweet STL. Both were not spicy and did not rape my delicate little flower blossom of a colon, LOL. Oh and they have beer, yay beer! Edit to Add: They are now 5 stars b/c their new mac n cheese is killer!!! The prices seem somewhat on the higher side of the BBQ spectrum, but maybe it’s just my imagination. I guess meat is going to run you a few bucks no matter where you go. But $ 35 for 2 people, I guess maybe that’s average for a meal if a little on the high end, though considering one of the two of us had a beer… I will still go back here because it’s too damn close to my house not to! And delicious! And the employees are wonderfully nice and friendly! :) A+ for good service. Did not utilize the ‘facilities’ so cannot comment on cleanliness but overall restaurant was clean and décor was on-point. The curbside feature was interesting too, though we did not try that.(It was raining outside.) Would like to come back and try the salmon but the price kinda freaks me out. I hope it’s delicious though! Also was funny when I asked Sean to call ahead to ensure they had not sold out(6pm on a Wednesday night –you just never know!) And he looks at me like«WTF?» and I’m all like … «Bro, do you even BBQ?»
