This place is incredible. Delicious beer, friendly and knowledgeable staff, plenty of cool games and events, and best of all, the most queer-/female-friendly atmosphere. It felt so welcoming. I don’t live near Payne/Phalen so it can be a bit of a hike, but always worth it.

Another good evening at Sidhe. Over the years we got so tired of bars we forgot what warm, charming, friendly places they can be. We met up with a friend I haven’t seen in ages and it was just the perfect atmosphere to catch up in.

Great beers! This is a well kept secret in the Phalen neighborhood. Cool ambiance with nice art. All the beers are good, but the mint stout and barking cat Belgian golden strong are Standouts! At nearly 10% the barking cat is strong and doesn’t taste it!

I feel generous giving this brewery two stars. I’m having a hard time getting over how filthy the place was. The two stars are for the friendly staff. That was honestly the only true positive. The beers were middle of the road at best. The chairs aren’t very comfortable, and the table we sat at had a nasty wobble to it… Nearly spilled out beers a few times. There’s absolutely no way I would recommend this brewery to anyone. There are so many clean taprooms, and better beers to be had in the twin cities. Cheers!

I randomly stopped here because I was waiting for a friend at a meeting place a few miles away and wanted some craft beer. There is plenty of parking in a lot and in the street. There is no food served. This brewery is one large room with lots of different beautiful artwork. It’s a casual, relaxed, laid back and comfortable place. The staff here is so friendly, patient, considerate and helpful. This is probably the most friendly brewery I’ve never been to. I got a mini tour of the brewery after speaking with a nice woman about her ideas of brewing. If you love hoppy and really dark pungent beers, this is not the place for you. The brewer does not care for hops. I love hoppy beers and was surprised that this place does not have any hoppy beers. I tried their red IPA and could barely taste the hops. The beers were good with simple flavors. If you don’t want a pint and just want a sample, you can get a 2oz sample of how ever many beers. You can pay for each 2 ounce pour.

Love this place-the perfect place to just relax and enjoy an hour or an evening and have a great brew. It was my first visit, but it won’t be my last. Two of us had never been there so we ordered a flight and Kathleen took the time to sit with us and share her love of the brew and the process. This is a must visit for anyone who enjoys a fine brew and a relaxing environment.

Really great, fun and low key atmosphere. Great beer as well. I had an amazing time at the Halloween party. Totally recommend. The none kin and the victorious are my favorite brews.

I don’t give five stars but this is one of the closest to a five star that I have been to in a while. Flights for $ 1.50 a small pour or $ 3 for a larger pour. As a non-beer drinker this was a great end to my evening.

So fabulous! We tried the Bast Kissed and Barking Cat and loved both. Super fun space, quick service, awesome beer. We will be back!

The easy way to impress taproom scenesters has been to blow away their palates with intensely hopped bitterness, or confound their palates with all manner of oftentimes bizarre infusions. The thing is, most beer drinkers are usually put off by hoppiness and sickly infusions. If the taproom craze is to have any lasting impression in the culture, the aesthetic will have to evolve to embrace a more sophisticated, even subtle, presentation. Sidhe Brewing is already there. As a previous reviewer noted, their Cream Ale is absolutely sublime. I’ve tried Cream Ales all over town, and theirs is the benchmark. Cream Ales have been overlooked in the hops and infusion craze, and that is a damn shame. This is no Mickey’s. This is smooth, richly creamy, and profoundly well balanced. Many taproom Cream Ales have a grainy taste, almost like corn, and Sidhe avoids that off-note. Sidhe’s Cream Ale deserves to become an obsession much like New Glarus Spotted Cow. I would be remiss to not mention their Nut Brown Ale, which is another wonderful example of the type. It gives one pause — is this what Newcastle tastes like in Newcastle? All of Sidhe’s beers exemplify the discipline of a fully formed aesthetic vision that shows a way forward for the taproom scene in years to come. Finally, about the infusion craze. Sidhe has done an infusion, and it was so sophisticated, so balanced, so unexpected, that, while it was available, become an obsessive taste sensation that found me walking around my neighborhood with growlers, pouring samples. It is called Wyrmwood, an infusion of oak from tequila casks in their Mexican/Vienna style lager. I am told that it will again be available sometime in December. I will be there! In short, if you find your palate traumatized by the hoppy burn or twisted by perverse infusions, you will find Sidhe to be an oasis for your tired taste buds.

Very friendly people, great atmosphere, but the beer needs work. I tried almost all the beers and they were all kind of lack luster. Almost like they got brewed too quickly. Good potential. Hope they can make it!

I will start with the positives: the atmosphere is very accommodating, relaxed, and inviting. The owners and staff seem very attune to the needs of both drinkers and non-drinkers with plenty of activities for young and old such as board games, coloring books, and a popcorn machine. My fiancé and I sat at the bar and spoke with several of the staff during our visit; they were attentive and responsive without being overly talkative or negligent — a difficult balance to strike sometimes. You can tell everyone who works there is proud to be there and cares about their job and their beer. This brings me to the less-positive. I had a flight of six samples varying in style from a stout to an IPA. Most of the beers tasted a little flat or off to me; I enjoyed the Mexican style lager and the nut-brown ale was okay. However, the two IPA’s I sampled were not very characteristic of a typical IPA. When speaking with one of the staff, she mentioned they weren’t big on really ‘hoppy-tasting beers.’ Everyone has different tastes, so I understand that, but if you don’t like really hoppy beers, it would probably just be better to not include them in your options than to call something an IPA and then have none of the flavor characteristics associated with that style of beer. I hope they continue to grow and fine tune their brews; there is definitely a market for microbrews that offer more than IPA’s! Overall, I enjoyed my visit; the staff and atmosphere were great, but the beer left me disappointed.

The Cream Ale is sublime. It is the finest example of the style I have ever tasted. Slightly sweet, crisp with a hint of ale fruitiness and low bitterness. Beautiful color and clarity. Could drink it all night. Hats off to this brewery for perfecting a style of beer I’d long thought to be boring and an afterthought. Serious beer drinkers need no further advertisement.

We were here a week ago on a Saturday. We travel to breweries all over the country looking for a great experience and excellent beer. The taproom is set up in a back room/basement of a small community shopping building. It’s a nice taproom with a small stage for bands and other acts to perform on(or our friends little girl and I to dance on). We enjoyed the taproom but the service and beer needs work. I don’t want to seem petty but the staff never seemed to want to talk about their beer and one member gave my wife a very horrific and hateful look when she sat down at a table. Maybe we just came across as snotty or as out of towners(which we aren’t). I’ve had worse beer but I will have to be honest and say that I won’t be going back for the beer. It just didn’t seem representative of the styles it was portrayed to be. I am an IPA lover personally(but love many styles) and the IPA barely had any bitterness as well as hoppiness. I will watch reviews and if I see that reviews improve I would be inclined to try again because so many others seemed to be home there.

Are you a non-beer drinker, like me? For years and years, I’ve taken a taste of any beer my friends or family are drinking, in the hopes that someday I’d find one I enjoyed. To me, they all taste like chemicals and bitterness. I finally found a beer I can enjoy, and it’s at Sidhe Brewing! The Bast Kissed cream ale doesn’t have that bitter aftertaste that beers always hit me with. After tasting this, I didn’t just buy my very first beer… I bought my very first growler! My beer-drinking SO really enjoyed it, too. The atmosphere of the taproom is really chill and welcoming. There is ample parking in back and on the street. They have a «pay it forward» board where you can buy a pint for someone in need. I love the art, the tabletop games, and the free popcorn. I appreciate the proprietors’ support of the local bellydance and burlesque communities, which is how I first learned of Sidhe. Go check it out!

I wouldn’t have found this gem if it weren’t for Groupon! I visited this on a quiet Thursday night. Plenty of parking on the side of the building. The bartender and assistant brewer, Ali, was really knowledgable about all the beers on tap. She said it was the first time they had 8 beers on tap which was awesome! I loved the atmosphere! Kathleen, the owner, was so gracious and such a sweet soul. Do not be afraid to ask for tastes before deciding on what you want. They have beautiful paintings on the wall that are for sale and Sidhe(pronounced Shee) is featured in the MN state fair land of 10,000 beers. I really enjoyed my visit. I can’t wait to go back! Definitely recommend for novices and veterans in the beer drinking world!

5 stars no problem. The bf grabbed a groupon and we grabbed a friend and headed over to check out Sidhe. They have a parking lot for the whole building they’re in so it’s really easy to park. We headed inside and chatted with Robin then decided to grab food and come back for beer. They’re connected to some awesome food and smoothie shops. We grabbed some tamales, pupusas, and a burrito and went back to chill and drink. It was glorious. The beer is awesome. The groupon allowed for a flight, two pints, and a growler. Every one of their beers was delicious. Every. Single. One. I’ve never been to a brewery where I liked it all. It was wonderful. My favorite is the Barking Cat Trappist, a fantastic Belgian that is super easy to drink. The boys loved the Hopped Up McGonigal, an ipa with a decent amount of hops and clocks in at an 8.3. That said, I would buy every one of their beers depending mood. They have a large selection of games, we played a few rounds of Exploding Kittens, and the tap room is comfortable. We’ll be back once a month for sure.

This brewery makes me smile thinking about it. I’ve been here twice, once on fluke and the second time to get my fill of growlers before leaving the state. If I could get these exquisite craft beers in my new town life would be grand. While the Barking Cat is my favorite, due to the sweet flavors, I have enjoyed about everything I have tried. Second place definitely goes to the Dark Moon Rising, their stout. Also has a ton of board games and welcomes patronage of the Mexican restaurant next door. There’s also parking so that’s awesome!

Wow, good beer with loads of flavor to them. It isn’t your typical one stop IPA shop and I appreciate that in a brewery. The flight I had came with 6 different brews. All of them were great and yet I only took one growler home with me(what was I thinking?) The brewery itself is coming along nicely. They’re finishing up the construction a bit, otherwise it had a good feel to it. I’m looking forward to going back and trying more beer!
