Really nice owner and the food seems more authentic compared to the other Indian restaurants that I’ve been to in the area! The Indian breakfast was great… we can’t wait to come back for dinner and/or their special brunch :)

Their morning hours on Monday are 7am-1pm. We arrived at 11:30am and they were closed. It was not a holiday. If a restaraunt cares about their business and their customers, they should be reliable. I can’t attest to the food here, but it’s clear that they don’t take their business seriously.

Samosas $ 2.99 for two. Best Samosas ever. Homemade cannot be beat! A must: try it with the chutney. And order a masala chai.

Small place that seems like a little hole in the wall but inside you’ll find super friendly service and amazingly fresh food. After driving by so many times, we randomly decided to stop in for some late morning coffee and ended up staying for brunch. The chai latte was delicious. For brunch they were serving samosa, dosa and what I can only describe as a quinoa veggie wrap — all three for just $ 8.99. You could tell everything was fresh and tasted very authentic. We’ll definitely be back!

I kept driving by this shop — just as other reviewers have mentioned. But when I finally stopped in i’m SO glad I did! Great coffee, fresh Indian food, sweeting owner… I couldn’t be happier! If you’ve ever been to South Asia and miss it, stop by this place and you’ll get the same comforting feeling.

I’m no Indian food expert but when we compared the high reviews with our own experience the only thing that we agreed with was that the owner was a nice guy. The food wasn’t bad but we all agreed that Bombay house was much better. We left confused about the Unilocal reviews regarding the food, but happy that we met a nice person.

Really nice, small café. Missed breakfast on our way thru town owner made us fresh coffee and lunch. Lunch special was an assortment of Indian food on a bed of delicious rice. When we finished, owner brought us another plate, complementary, which we had no trouble finishing. Really great place, especially if you like coffee or Indian food.

The food selection is small(they basically prepare one meat and one vegetarian dish each night) but the quality is outstanding. Don’t miss it!

Great little café. Venkat is a real warm fellow and an excellent cook. The ingredients are always fresh and the flavors are wonderful and complex, like great Indian food ought to be! You gotta try this place and see for yourself.

Unbelievable! The owners of the restaurant are at least as nice as the other reviewers say. They saw myself and a couple friends after they ran out of food and learned we were in town for only one day, so they made us breakfast for the morning! Absolutely incredible food, drinks(get the special! Turmeric Milk is crazy good!) and people. Next time I’m in town I will absolutely make a beeline for this place.

I love Karma Café. Everything I have ordered here had been special. The owner is so cool I could come in just to chat and hangout with him. I highly recommend eating here. I rarely take the time to write reviews, but I felt inspired to do this.

I have driven by this tiny place and not given it much thought but I stopped in today and it was absolutely delightful! The juices and smoothies are made fresh and the food is absolutely out of this world! The owner is from southern India and quite talkative(this is a good thing). He knows a lot of people and is very determined to make sure his diners have a good experience. I would not even be able to tell you what I ate but I can say for certainty that it was cheap and I will go back again and again!

Went here early morning waiting for another café to open for breakfast. I don’t remember seeing this place actually, and have driven by the area quite often. I walked in and was greeted by a friendly woman. They had a small menu but nice. I got the masalachai. The woman took a few minutes to grind by hand the necessary spices. It was scaling hot too! I had to cool it down with cream. She made sincere conversation and talked about the shop and her own past as Pakistani. It was early morning so she was still setting up everything. Though the place looked slightly dilapidated on the outside, the inside was warm and inviting. They have an outside patio. Inside has some book shelves and a Guatama Buddha statue that is a small altar with incense. It’s a small interior but room enough to move around. I’ve heard they have good food so I’ll try that at some point, but my initial experience was a good once. I’d return next time I’m in the area.

I went here after reading all of the Unilocal Reviews — I can indeed confirm what everyone else on here said — the owner is amazing, the food is amazing, just a warm wonderful meal. Would eat here daily if I could.

I was sort of excited to see this take over what I think was a former cupcake place, as I’m always hopeful for a stellar cup of tea when I’m out and about and look, I’ll just come right out and say it: ladies and gentlemen, I am a convenience whore. So, yes, Sugarhood Coffee has a nice cup as do some of the others, but this one I can walk to and don’t have to fight bad parking. Now, the majority of food from India, reliant as it is on peasant seasonings(onion, potato), such as is Eastern Europe and a host of other places, is inedible or distasteful for me, so I didn’t expect much I’d be able to eat here, but my wife is a Indian food adherent and no way she is getting as much of that as she’d like around me, unless she heavily modifies it and makes it herself. I did figure it would be good for something lighter and they have bagels and some pastries, which fits into the sort of thing I look for, as mentioned in the first paragraph. She greatly enjoyed her brunch(presentation was gorgeous); I greatly enjoyed my tea(bagel and pastry were ok) and my son greatly enjoyed his hot chocolate, so a win all-around. This place screams eclectic. Tables outside are seemingly there at random, striping the parking lot has no apparent rhyme or reason, there is a scattering of books on the shelf almost impossibly broad in subject, very cool place settings and tables inside(maybe seats 12, max), even the wall décor is cool. Some of the tables are wobbly and jammed together, but this is the kind of place one could easily hang out in for quite some time, chatting and/or relaxing. It frankly is the kind of place that stimulates thought and conversation and I love the entire ambiance, odd lot striping and all. As mentioned, the owner and staff are fantastically nice, genuinely caring and graceful people and the great deal of caring going into this is very evident. It was my absolute pleasure to spend money here, as I know who and what I’m supporting richly deserves it. If you’re a fan of Indian food, this will probably be more meaningful to you, but even if not, like me, it’s still a very rich addition to the neighborhood.

I found this places thanks to fellow Unilocalers and decided to give it a try to satisfy my Indian food cravings. That was a great decision. I come in greeted by the husband and wife, who are both so friendly and personable. Putting complete trust in them, I just went ahead and asked for whatever special they had to go and was surprised to see it all take up two boxes for the price I paid. The whole platter was vegetarian, but Venkat also went ahead let me have some of their chicken curry. Let me say, the food was absolutely delicious. You can really tell that it was prepared in small batches with well curated mixtures of seasonings and spices. I surprised myself when I devoured both boxes of food. It looks like that punch card will come in handy.

Have you been to Southern India? No, you say? I implore you to do the next best thing: go to Karma Coffee House. Now. Put down your computer phone; walk out the door; hop the 209, and make haste. I, randomly, saw the sign and strolled in to warm up. Miriam greeted me with a smile and a joke. I then had that night’s special — turnip curry and green bean kurma(not technically a curry, I’m told, but a blend including tamarind, coriander, and other exotic spices my gringo palette lusts for. Those were two separate dishes — I ate two. I could have eaten more in the name of marathon preparedness. I finished with the masala chai and a sample of the mango lassi. I could kiss this man. Venkat has an amazing story of growing up in a convent in India, you’ll have to coax it out of him(the man is too damn humble) try complimenting his craft. The menu is vegetarian, except for ghee and meat on Friday. After some digging, I learned that most of the food is vegan: no animal products, nor honey. I’m guessing he uses the same utensils for both, cause, who could afford that? Ask him; he will tell you. Call ahead and he may even prepare something special for you. Who knows; how’s your karma? Ahem — Couldn’t resist. Venkat and Miriam pour their heart and kindness into creating a warm hospitable café. They pride themselves on service and hospitality. Please, support this neighborhood gem so that I can stop by next time I visit SLC.
