Tried to go to Market Street Grille without a reservation and the line was out the door. But lo and behold, the attached Oyster Bar, with the exact same menu as the Grille, had zero wait time. So we slipped past the crowds of families waiting outside, sat down and enjoyed some good wine, crab legs, and halibut for dinner. Excellent service. Parking was tough, but if you know how to get around downtown SLC there are spots to be found. Can be either casual or fancy, and it’s a bit expensive, but well worth it to score some good, fresh seafood in Utah and enjoy a nice evening out.

I was very pleased with the friendly service,(even being one of the last customers of the night). I wasn’t rushed, and was given full service. I had a specials they were serving which was sirloin, topped with crab and Bernaise. They had fresh bread on the table, and lot’s of great beers to choose from.

Ya you could say I’m a fan. If you’re looking for an upper class restaurant to meet friends for dinner with great food, good atmosphere, and cocktails you’ve found it! Seafood here is the fantastic, as is in the name the oysters never disappoint and they’ve usually got quite the selection. Expect to pay for what you get, but very reasonably priced for good food. Can’t go wrong with the cold seafood platter, its delicious! Clam chowder is the bomb, go for it in the sour bread bowl! Great place to bring people over for cocktails if your in town for a convention or just want to meet for a drink after work. They have quite a few specialty cocktails to choose from. I think they still have special priced appetisers for«Appi Hour» between like 4pm — 6pm. Brunch– On weekends they have a killer brunch and the Value is Un-Beatable! Top of the line food at local diner prices! Egg’s benedict is the bomb, especially at just $ 8.99, you can add crab, lobster or a filet on the side if you like.

About 10 days ago I was in town for my annual International Convention. I tried this place 2 years ago & loved the food so I ventured there again. I love this restaurant so much that I ate 2 dinners &1 brunch there. The first night I had the Hawaiian ahi tuna seared to perfection served with brown rice & asparagus. The second night I had the Crab Louie Salad which consisted of a half-pound of Dungeness crab on top of salad greens with avocado, tomato, hard-boiled egg, red pepper & black olives accompanied by a Blue cheese/avocado dressing. What a delight! For brunch I had their Eggs Benedict which was recommended as their best brunch item. It was absolutely delicious! Excellent Hollandaise sauce on top of 2 perfectly poached eggs on top of perfectly toasted English muffins. The bread served at dinner was so tasty that I bought a loaf to take home. This restaurant is my go to place when I’m in Salt Lake City. I’m looking forward to going back next August.

This place is so worth the time for a bad review. :) It’s our first time in SLC, wanted to dine-in in a nice restaurant. It looked upscale with the décor and the staff uniforms but the food was about the worst we never had. Oyster: not the best for the price, it was fine. Cocktail shrimp(the bigger kind): we ordered half pound for 23 dollars, and it was no different from the cocktail shrimp we had at a $ 13 Chinese buffet :) it was dry and not fresh. Soup was fine. Here comes the best entrées: I had sirloin, steak that I usually love, was so salty! We asked the server if their steak was on the salty side, and she said we are tasting the garlic sauce on top. Ok that’s fine, I scraped off the sauce as much as possible, still salty almost unbearable. My boyfriend had steak and king crab leg, steak was salty like mine, the only thing left to be desired was the crab leg, and when I tried to open it, the shell was soft. :) so soft that I was peeling it instead of cracking it open. Thats not what you call fresh or prepared right . The bill was $ 130, and the server didn’t even care that 80% of our entrée was still on the table. For that amount of money, at least present the meals like it is worth it! But no! Nothing was worth it! Hopefully your experience is going to be better. :)

I generally love this place but today for Sunday brunch; I was way disappointed. It took an hour for our food to arrive. My steak and eggs were good but the Han and cheese omelet was dry. I also did not love the fact that I paid $ 3.89 for a cup of mediocre coffee.

Wow! Who knew you could get such fresh seafood in Salt Lake? The selection and the quality of the menu ranks up there with the foodie coastal cities. The service is great, food is impressive, nice décor, all in all a win! Husband and I had a very difficult time choosing from the menu because all the items sounded amazing. We ended up with the King Crab cioppino and the ½ halibut, ½ salmon on a cedar plank. The people sitting next to us recommended what they were having, a crab topped salad. We finished off with high quality dessert, a raspberry torte. I had a few pomegranate Mojitos — I recommend. Matt our waiter provided us with professional service with a personal touch.

The waitress we got had a mild speech impediment but that did NOT impede the quality of her service. She was on top with fresh sodas and everything else was very fresh. The oysters were great, with fresh grated horseradish, unusual anyplace. The tuna appetizer was great with a Japaneze type cole slaw, although the wasabi was obviously from a tube. The onion rings were gigantic, and not too greasy. The steak sandwich was big and tasty, but a bit chewy.

A guests experience can be thrown off with rudeness and this was an unpleasant experience. Oysters were decent, appreciated them shucking them barside. Clam chowder was flavorless — heavy cream not so much on richness or depth of flavor. I then ordered the small plate shrimp scampi to go. He brought me out a $ 30 full sized shrimp dish that I didn’t order. I let him know that’s not what he ordered. He stared at me with a very confused look, wondering why I only wanted three pieces of shrimp with garlic toast then a full sized entrée. Really? I don’t need to order the whole menu-I already ordered soup and oysters! Irritated he yelled at some other server to take my order and throw three of those shrimps in a box and give it back because some girl didn’t want the full meal. Listen bartender, that’s on you for not listening. No need to make me feel uncomfortable. So-no garlic toast as included on the menu-just three shrimp. Welp, didn’t need the extra carbs anyway. Won’t be coming back, and I hope you remember in the service industry to just be nice to your guests. ESPECIALLY when you are the one making the mistake. Good luck.

Nothing special but being from Annapolis NYC and Miami my seafood standards are high. What i would complain about is the annoying bad service. I just lowered my review of this place. The staff was dinning out in the bar in public and we placed a second order for oysters that never came. Cocktails were somewhat off

The crab cakes were great. Oysters were fresh. I tried the oyster trio before making my decision on more… I preferred the blue points better. Less gritty texture and better flavor. I asked for saltines and the server rolled his eyes at me! I guess I’m not refined enough for this place… Oh well. Everything on the menu is pretty steep– but to be expected at a nicer metropolitan establishment. Having come from New Orleans a day before— I was hoping for gulf oysters and friendly service you get in the south. Not so much here. Our bartender/server was clearly less than enthused to be working that evening. Service always overshadows the quality of the food.

Came here right before the holidays when our CEO was in town from the UK. I love seafood, but I was not too impressed with what Market Street offered. The oysters were pretty good, but my parents live in Maryland, and there are a few places there that have kind of ruined any other oysters for me. The shrimp cocktail was good, but nothing special. I heard the shrimp here were huge, but they didn’t seem too impressive when I was there. The crab cakes were pretty good. Probably the best part of the meal. I’d suggest them.

Whenever I asked where is a good place to eat, this spot was mentioned several times. Upon arriving at SLC it was mission to check it out. We asked our waiter what the difference was between the«Grill» and the«Oyster Bar» location. The oyster bar, where we dined is more of a bar environment while the grill is a dining experience. I figured also more family friendly, either spot serves the same menu. To kick off our night we started with the Crab+Artichoke+Cheese dip. We were informed it was crab season and that people wait all year for it, so I ordered the Crab Stuffed Cod. For the people in our party that were drinking, half a dozen oysters were the appetizer of choice. My entrée came with Clam Chowder, after our waiter delivered it I asked for more sourdough to enjoy some dipping! My chowder was cold by the time he remembered my request, after reminding him twice. Overall, for seafood it’s overpriced and over hyped. I’ve had better chowder, theirs reminded me of water down soup, no chunks which is something I look forward in chowder.

I guess if we had other options for seafood in Utah we wouldn’t have to go to the OB… But it’s all we have. My gal said it best by saying it is «average overpriced seafood at best»… But the chowder keeps me/us coming back.

January 201599 cent Blue Point oysters are back! Monday’s are Appe Hour from 4 – 6 pm where the other oysters on menu are half off and only select appetizers are half off as well. I can come in for my Bling Bling Cocktail & oysters and be good with that! This time I got the Naughty School Girl cocktail that was good, it had a Dum Dum sucker in it, but not as tasty as the other drinks on menu. Clam chowder is delicious and one of the main things they are known for! Crab Stuffed mushroom is juicy and succulent. Calamari is good, but I’ve had better at my fav phở restaurant Phở Bien Hoà(90th S). I’ve never had a bad experience here and come back often!

Okay, so I gave this place a second try when visiting SLC with a colleague. The experience was completely different from my first visit. The place was packed, for starters, and had a much better vibe. We were seated after a short wait, and our waiter immediately took our drink orders. For dinner, I ordered the king salmon, which was simply grilled and served with butternut squash and asparagus(I subbed the asparagus). Normally it comes with butternut squash and«a starch.» What’s butternut squash? It’s a starch. Give me the option of a non-starchy veggie too, please. That’s my only minor complaint. Otherwise, the food and service this second time around were both top-notch.

I know some chains that are better. Service was terrible. Salad and as wilted and I don’t have entrée yet. Waitress didn’t even mention specials. Worse service in salt lake If I could give a negative one I would My food tasted burnt and over cooked
