This is like a must-go place everytime I am in the Gateway. What I like about Sur La Table is they have a wide range of specialized appliances for anything imaginable in the kitchen. Seriously. Once I was searching for a particular coffee maker that is approved by SCAA(Specialty Coffee Association of America) and only Sur La Table and William Sonoma carried it. Yes the price here are on the higher side, but sometimes they have sale/discounts that you can take advantage of. I was looking for a Salt Block for the grill last Saturday and conveniently they had 20% off discount! I was already happy but the friendly shop lady told me if I register my e-mail, I could get another 20% off on top of the sale discount. Wow. So if you have not done it, you can take advantage of this. Another thing I like about Sur La Table is they have shop assistants that are knowledgeable about most of the product they carry, so I always feel I am their good hand to enable me making an informed purchase decision. Obviously, I am a fan.

I really like this store. I have been in here a number of times and just started my collection of Le Creuset cooking gear because they had a number of pieces on sale. Yes, this is a higher end store, but for certain items it is really worth it. Having certain cooking utensils that are higher end makes the cooking(and cleaning) experience much more fun. The staff here is very friendly and very knowledgeable about their products. Sometimes you can find some of their products on sale too.(which is usually the only way I buy anything) I have not taken one of their cooking classes yet, my I may try one in the future. If they are anything like the ones at Harmon’s, I’m sure it will be fun. If you need a specific hard to find piece of kitchen equipment, try this store. Or just go in and browse! They have quite a bit of inventory.

I do really like this store and have been to locations in other cities. That said, I put this in the high end, go there if you cant find or need something specific category. If you have not been, this is a great speciality store. The staff are very knowledgeable, and are eager to help. They generally carry higher end appliances, cookware, and accessories, but they may lack selection in some areas. That said, there are great if you are seeking a very specialized item; but don’t a bargain. Their prices are on the high side; like I said, it is in the need it and cant find it elsewhere category. I did like the look of the classroom in store, so i may have to check one out in the future.

Love this store. Every home chefs dream. I really wanted to remove about a tenth of star from perfection as they didn’t have an authentic swiss cheese fondue caquelon that works on an induction stove, but then, this is really hard to find even in Switzerland… Great store, I will be back soon…

This kitchen store also offers cooking classes. I think their products are mid to upper range quality. Only once have I not found what I was looking for.

My Felpers seem to think Sur la Tabale is a high end store. Sheesh, SL, UT is getting overrun by high end everything these days. Wait till Tiffany opens up. Then you’ll see high end! Actually, when I need a kitchen gadget like a high end scoop to make chocolate truffle balls or the latest in high end desserts, cake pops, I head over to this little shop tucked under the belly of Barnes and Noble(high end bookstore). And if you need a high end gift for your high falutin’ friends this is the place to find a set of Laguiole cheese knives. Sur la Table used to have great sales on their clearance stuff. When our home values were first crashing, they were giving away last season’s table linens for pennies on the proverbial dollar. Now they’re just high end. Actually, like most other stores that don’t carry much Anchor Hocking or $ 5.00 swedish meatballs, they carry some nice stuff. I wouldn’t go here for my everyday kitchenware, but certainly if I’m looking for something special Sur la Table is the high end kitchen store for me.

For all kinds of kitchen things, you can go here. They have a great collection of pots and pans and so many unitaskers. The cooking classes look fantastic, though I’ve only taken one. The store staff however, leaves something to be desired. They are often unsure when you ask them questions and given what I saw this past weekend, you do NOT want to bring your knives here. There are better places in the valley with knowledgeable staff and better selections, so I prefer to visit those places instead.

When this Sur La Table first opened at Gateway, I almost couldn’t sleep the first week until I got there. When I walked in, I almost teared up. I swear the music changed that very instant to Pavarotti’s «Ave Maria.» I must have looked ridiculous. But, the staff here is so sweet that they didn’t judge me. They just gave me that«we understand» look, asked if I needed any assistance(which I didn’t because I was too overwhelmed to form sentences), then let me wander about and thoroughly enjoy my first time at SLT. I’ve been back more times than I can count. I am a Unilocaler who cooks. The more tools I can employ to assist me in my kitchen endeavors, the better. This store is probably familiar to most home cooks who take it seriously. I’ve not yet purchased that set of Le Creuset that has been on my Christmas want list for going on 10 years now.(Santa, are you even listening?) Nor do I pick up dishes or flatware here. Their every day prices are pretty high, but if you find something you need on sale, it’s typically reasonable. I recently picked up a Cuisinart handheld immersion blender on sale for $ 25. My old one broke, and I needed a new one stat. SLT to the rescue! And it’s adorably lime green! What??? Oh yeah. I absolutely love their gadgets. They have a plethora of pancake turners and a world of whisks. If you want to make popcorn, they can offer you 20 different ways to get it done. If you’re a coffee fanatic, like myself, you can find every possible coffee, espresso, etc. doohickey known to humankind. They carry mandolines, zesters, colanders, bakeware, electrics(small/med), and so much more it makes my head spin! There is truly something for everyone who considers themselves any kind of cook or foodie. I haven’t taken any cooking classes at SLT yet. But I plan to. They’re reasonably priced, and I’ve heard great reviews of them. They also do fantasy culinary educational trips to places like Italy & France. Someday!!! They have a mailing list so you can get their catalogs and know what’s on sale — or you can simply check their website. The staff is very kind when I call them to find out if they carry something specific. I could probably set up house at SLT if they didn’t know or care. You can find everything you need up front, and actually cook in their demo kitchen in the back. It’s magnificent. I only wish it were more affordable…

If you want to get the latest color Le Creuset first, and you have NO budget, Sur le Table is your store. If you want some ridiculous gadget that you probably really didn’t need, they have it at an extraordinary inflated price. They do have a lot of really cool stuff, but not a lot of really cool necessary stuff. I can find almost everything they have online for half the price. If I really need it I could buy it for less online, including the shipping. :) It is a fun place to browse around and say, «can you believe that they make something to do that?» Oh my Gosh! Just be prepared. :)

The one good thing about Sur La table is that they sell copper pots and pans, which can be otherwise hard to find. Some of the stuff they have in store is nice but for a high end kitchen store, they should try to carry some more variety. In my opinion, this is an expensive place if you are trying to stock up your kitchen. Sure they carry branded products like Le Creuset and they sell them at expected prices. But $ 9 for a cup? That day has not yet come for me!

after numerous visits ambience: A– i like the feel of the place. the layout is easy to figure out after a couple visits. service: A the attendants have always been helpful. inventory: B+ great selection for home use. don’t expect to find a huge selection of professional equipment, however.(i.e. knife wallets, bar jiggers, a waiters corkscrew, etc.) overall: B+ a high B+. i like this place. however, if you are a restauranteur or bar owner, this is probably not your ‘go to’ place. but, for home use items, you should have no problem finding them here.

I’ve got to be honest… I’m not a huge fan of Sur La Table. They sell just enough high end product to be dangerous. While they sell many high quality brands(All-Clad, Le Creuset, Riedel, etc), they also sell a lot of not so high quality items(more off brands & ‘Made in China’ type stuff). Which can be really nice, because who wants to spend $ 25 on a manual cork screw when you can get one for $ 4.99 at Sur La Table? But on the other hand, it can be slightly confusing. There’s a lot of really great stuff, and a lot of crap mixed in. It has been my experience that if you want a clerk at Sur La Table to help you, you will: a) need to tackle them in order to get them to pay attention to you and b) double check everything they tell you. For example, I overheard a clerk telling a customer that the Le Creuset pots they sell are made in the good ol’ USA.(Wrong. They’re actually made in France.) I give them 2 stars for having a good selection of product, with varied price points and for the lack of well trained, customer-service oriented sales people.
