Abracadabra Mediterranean Cafe

Went here earlier in the year using a coupon deal. Came at a fairly normal weekend evening dining hour, around maybe 6pm. the place was completely deserted, but they are affiliated with the nearby pub two doors down. The hostess walked me over and we were seated. Despite being in another restaurant at this point, our coupon could still only be used for the original Mediterranean restaurant. Odd, but not a big deal since that’s what we were originally planning on having.
Service was slow but polite, and there were many tv screens going with different sports games and programs on to keep us occupied when conversation lagged.
I’m a big fan of chicken schwarma, so that is what I ordered. It was just okay. The pita wasn’t as good as I’ve had before, and it seemed to be store bought and either was cold or wasn’t reheated at all. The hummus seemed very generic and was likely spooned out of a prepurchased jar rather than made fresh. The garlic sauce that makes the schwarma what it is was also lackluster in flavor. The meat itself was moist and flavorful, and portions were large, but my taste expectations weren’t really met. I do not recall what my date ordered, but he also was underwhelmed.
We also ordered the baklava, hoping that dessert would make a nice ending to the night, but it as well was simply okay. Nearly all of the food seemed like it was purchased elsewhere rather than made to order or at the very least made on site. I guess if I have so few customers that I’m having to escort them to another restaurant to use their kitchen (which again I didn’t quite undertand and wasn’t explained), I probably wouldn’t spend the money on food prep either. In any case, the pub didn’t seem to be any busier– there were a couple of people eating at the bar when we came in, and another small group of about three came in wanting to watch a game by the time we left, and that was it. Mediocre all the way around.

Great casual dinner date or group hangout. Very chill and relaxed, great vibe. My husband and I sat on the couch while we smoked hookah for the 1^st time and waited for our food (take out style). Food was great, enjoyed smoking the hookah… had a fantastic time, what more can you ask?
