Get the table side guacamole ! I don’t even like guacamole that much. This stuff was ridiculous ! The waitress was great — very attentive … Now what I didn’t like is we had tried to go there the day b4 and sit outside with our dog(14yrs old in a stroller) they said no — we couldn’t even sit outside –Other then that nice place good food

Food is delicious and service is great. Very friendly host. Definitely worth me trying to get a table the 2nd day. First day I went there it was an hour wait at 8:30pm. 2nd try was immediate seating I had the fish and their signature drink. So yummy

Went here with the wife recently for a nice dinner on the River Walk. We came in off the street, down an elevator, and through the rear of the restaurant. This is not recommended, as it’s a very convoluted way of getting your seat. We literally had to ask where the hostess was, and all the servers seemed so busy that it made it more difficult than expected. Anyway, on with the review… We were seated on a table outside, overlooking the river walk. It was nice except for the mosquitoes and the guests in the adjacent table who acted they had never seen a water taxi(this guy hooted every time one passed as if amazed and really excited, or the more likely case, he had way too much to drink). While Boudro’s can’t be held accountable for mosquitoes or drunk guests, it soured the experience just a little. For those looking to dine here, stay mindful that mosquitoes might be a good reason to eat inside. Due to the high guest volume, the amount of steak served, and the positive correlation between steak consumption and drinking, there could be hordes of rowdy, drunk guests everywhere, inside and outside the restaurant. OK, on to the actual review. My wife and I both ordered steak, cooked medium well. She got the fire fries for her side, while I got the steamed veggies. The steaks took like 30 minutes to arrive(a tad bit long), but some wait is to be expected. After all, it’s a busy restaurant and steak takes a long time to cook. Moving along, the steak itself was cooked well but it was just OK. It was quality meat, not nervy, and a decent size(10 oz. sirloin for $ 28). But beyond that, there was nothing earth-shattering here, folks. The steak was marginally better than Longhorn(IMYO), but with the Bourdro’s markup for being a renowned restaurant on the River Walk. Meh. So, to sum it up, Boudro’s is definitely worth trying if you haven’t already gone. Not my best meal ever, but not half bad either. Some advice though… do make reservations, enter off the River Walk, and bring OFF! for the mosquitoes(might be equally effective on the drunk guests!)

I had the ribeye and I’m sorry to say I’ve had comparable steaks at Chili’s and Applebee’s. I expected a lot more considering the reviews. I would not recommend this place.

This place with on the Riverwalk seating was a great lunch spot. As a guide I had on a river boat cruise said — it is the spot with the BBQ Pringle umbrellas. I love how the menu starts out listing«starters» which are drinks, not appetizers. The prickly pear margaritas are nice and refreshing and the Blood Mary’s are spicy. We got the Guacamole for Two which is prepared table side by your server. It was the most fresh and flavorful guacamole I have ever had and was a decent size portion for two people. I would definitely order this again and could snack on it daily. I also tried the gumbo which had duck and spicy sausage in it. The meat was lean and well cooked and the sausage skin was not tough, though I wouldn’t consider it too spicy. There were peppers in the soup as well and rice piled in the middle. The soup was flavorful, not too thick and really a nice taste of Louisiana in Texas. Service was fast and friendly and attentive. I wish I had been hungrier to try other things from the menu because what other people were eating looked great.

We were visiting San Antonio and our friends took us to Boudro’s On the Riverwalk and we had a great lunch. The tables next to the river offered a great view and seat to enjoy the Riverwalk. And the food was very good too, along with the service. I had the salmon salad and others had the burger. Also, don’t miss the guacamole, prepared tableside. My wife, a guacamole expert, said it was one of the best that she has had. They used fresh lime and orange juice in the recipe. We will definitely be back when we visit again.

I travel for work and use Unilocal to guide where to eat. Boudro’s had great reviews and I agree with them and would recommend this spot for anyone looking for great service and delicious food. I went in at about 3 pm and had a wonderful experience. The staff was friendly, had superior menu knowledge and were incredibly attentive. The scallops were perfectly cooked. My pork tenderloin was juicy and grilled exactly how I would want it. I gave four stars because the grits with my tenderloin were overdone(and I love grits), but I will definitely go back and would easily recommend Boudro’s.

My favorite place in San Antonio. Make sure to get a reservation. Wait times can be long, especially on weekends. The guacamole is amazing… the best I’ve ever had… EVER! Also, try the prickly pear margaritas. Their shrimp and grits are my favorite.

Love Boudro’s and have always thought it the best restaurant on the Riverwalk. We went back last weekend and I was not disappointed. There are a lot of tourist joints on the river. Boudro’s is not one of them. I highly recommend it.

It was a busy Thursday night… Wait time was 45 min. BUT, it was worth the wait!!! We ordered: — Tuna Tartare Stack(Really good) — Guacamole for two(Was made right by our table… Best fresh guacamole I’ve had in a long time. Even the customers sitting next to us was saying the same thing) — Grilled Prime Rib(Juicy & cooked the way I requested it) — Duck Three Ways(Flavorful & cooked just right. It also came with crispy duck springroll, smoked duck enchilada and jalapeño corn pudding & they all tasted really good) — Prickly Pear Margarita(Waiter(Raul) forgot all about it, but it’s okay, I know they were busy… so I’m okay not having it. When it was time to pay, it was on the bill. So I politely told Raul that I never got the drink… and he apologized for it and also insisted that he was still going to give me the drink and it’s on him!!! So I got the drink for free, thanks to Raul for immediate service recovery!!! And the margarita was awesome by the way. Our overall experience was great. I would definitely go back there if I’m ever in San Antonio. Great food and wonderful customer service… What more can you ask for?!?

This place is overrated. Let’s start by being seated at lunchtime approximately 1pm. My girlfriend and I went to request a table and we were escorted all the way to the back of the restaurant where no one was sitting. We told her the table is unacceptable and she moved us to the front with other patrons. Why would you sit us so far away from other people when the restaurant wasn’t that full??? That should’ve been a sign of a disaster to come. Anyhow we stayed hoping things would get better, due to the reviews. Overall the food seemed rushed. Presentation pretty much crappy. Our waitress Teresa was very nice on the flipside. Drinks were strong. Not really a fan of the prickly pear margarita. We asked where the restroom was and the waitress told us it’s in the back through the door. Now that is where they tried to sit us upon arrival. At a table 3 feet from the restroom. It felt like I was in a situation where a certain«race» could only sit in a certain part of a restaurant. I’m sure you get what I’m saying. Stay away from this place. I’ll definitely be eating at another restaurant the next time I’m in that area.

1 Year Anniversary Success! I looked on Unilocal for a nice restaurant on the riverwalk for our weekend trip the San Antonio. This place seemed to hit all the right spots so I made a reservation. We arrived 5 mins before our reservation and were seated immediately. We were given an incredible table right on the riverwalk so we could people watch for the entire meal. This was a Saturday night and this place was packed to the brim. Throughout our entire meal, people would walk up to the hostess and try to get a table, only to walk away when they were told it would be 2 hours. I now know why. All of the food and drinks were incredible. All this talk about the Prickly Pear Margarita were correct. It is a tad sweet but so worth it. They will definitely comeback and kick you in the butt. We ordered the quail and scallop appetizers and finished off with the brownie tower. All three dishes were great but the brownie tower was out of this world. Two warm brownies sandwiched in between ice cream with hard chocolate over top. The dish just melts in your mouth. The whole meal was incredible and I would highly recommended it to anyone trying to make a good impression. I will say, you better make a reservation though, because it will be crowded.

Ok, it is a tourist spot, but it is a GOOD tourist spot. By that I don’t mean only good tourists go there. The food and service are both good and you aren’t treated like a tourist. We had a reservation, but we got there early and the front of the house was packed, so I assumed that we would have to sit at the bar and get a drink before they could seat us. But they miraculously had a table inside toward the back. Really quite fine with me. I didn’t really feel the need to watch tourists stroll by while I was eating. Elijah was our waiter and he took very good care of us. We started off with a nice glass of wine but decided to pass on the guacamole. The space while casual upscale, seemed a little dated. It seemed a little bit of a throwback to the 80’s. It just seemed«orange». The food was all very good. I had the Herb Crusted Fish Fillet with a chipotle red pepper beurre blanc, and roasted vegetables with herb butter. The fish was perfectly cooked and seasoned, the vegetables crisp and flavorful with the herb butter. We finished up dinner with Sumatran Coffee which was rich and flavorful. Our meal for three people with multiple glasses of wine came to just under $ 160. Not bad for the quality of food and service. I would definitely recommend Boudro’s even though it is a tourist magnet. The good food and fine service more than made up for the mass of humanity.

Let’s just say for starters, anyplace that I eat and drink at with a check above $ 150 for two people better bring their A game. I guess being from South Carolina, I expected Charleston type of results on our plates at Boudros, but alas this didn’t happen. Let’s just say the 3 stars was given because of the excellent starter we ordered, which was the Seared Scallops. They were superb! And, the real savior for Boudros was the Prickly Pear Margarita! It was awesome! My wife ordered as a main course the Black Angus Center Cut Filet. It was subpar, and her sides couldn’t rescue her meal. I ordered the Niman Ranch Double Rib Pork Chop, my choice was much better than hers, but again the sides were subpar. Let’s just say for $ 150+ you should be dining on an outstanding meal. This isn’t much better than Applebee’s or Red Robin.

I was in town for work, and the local San Antonio group we were meeting with recommended Boudro’s as a less-tourist and much higher than average quality option on the Riverwalk where we were staying. They did not steer us wrong! We went with the table side guacamole which was as excellent as everyone else says! Orange juice, fire roasted tomatoes and roasted chiles since we were up for a little heat. It was fresh and wonderful! The portion was plenty for two, and probably even three. The preparation is fun to watch too; someone at a neighboring table even recorded a video of the whole process(not sure what he’ll do with that video mind you, but not my problem). I had a prickly pear margarita which was good, and not overly sweet — definitely a fun cocktail! We shared two entrees since we both were having a hard time deciding. We had the grilled shellfish platter and the herb crusted black drum. Both were excellent! The drum was flavorful and cooked perfectly! The couscous and roasted vegetables served with it were delicious! We enjoyed everything on the shellfish platter as well. I highly recommend taking advantage of this great fresh gulf seafood while in San Antonio! We had a great table outside with a view of the river. The propane heaters kept us very comfortable even though temperatures outside had dropped into the 40’s. We didn’t need the blankets, but it was nice they were there on the backs of all of the chairs in case anyone needed them. Service was very good; our server was knowledgeable about the menu and courses were timed nicely! I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in San Antonio!

I have already reviewed Boudro’s in the past but I wanted to do an update to capture the amazing experience we had this time as well. On this visit we came for lunch and it was on an extremely busy day with several large events happening in San Antonio as well as hundreds of Air Force Airmen and their families. Even with the busy atmosphere we only waited about 10 minutes for our table. We were promptly greeted by our server who was fantastic. We had to have a repeat of the table side guacamole which was not as good as last time but delicious none-the-less. We both ended up ordering the Rib-Eye sandwich and that was one heck of a delicious sandwich. The smell alone was worth the cost but the taste… well the taste was phenomenal. The service was fantastic and on par with the service we had received on our last visit even with the restaurant packed inside and out and a waiting list up to 40 minutes. We were both highly impressed and this trip solidified, for us, that this place is a top-notch establishment well worth the visit!

If you’re going to eat among the tourist traps and chains of the San Antonio River Walk … and you will … then choose a restaurant that does it right. Choose Boudro’s Texas Bistro on the River Walk. 4.5 stars rounded up for great service and cool location in the heart of Tourist Walk along the San Antonio River. Boudro’s is loud and proud. With so many tables and people packed in as possible, this won’t be the space for a quiet romantic hideaway. So, sit close, loosen up with some margaritas, and enjoy a raucous and magical meal. We tried the famous frozen Prickly Pear Margaritas(3 stars) with a Prickly Cactus Pear Purée in a blend of Tequila, Triple Sec, and Lime Juice. For me they were way too icy and candy-like, so, I moved on to Cadillac Margaritas(4 stars) with Cointreau for the meal and beyond. As appetizers, we split an order of the Guacamole«Salad» for Two($ 9 — 4 stars) prepared table-side with chunky fresh Avocado, roasted Tomatoes, bits of Serrano Peppers, Cilantro, and fresh Lime and Orange Juices. Order it extra spicy to balance out the sweetness of the orange juice. We also shared the Faux Gras($ 9.50 — 4 stars) of Chicken Liver Pâté with Cognac on Brioche served with a Chile Apple Compote and Olive Tapenade. It’s a bitter blend of liver and spices that may not be for everyone. Mesquite Grilled Texas Quail($ 28 — 4.5 stars) has a pair of grilled quail stuffed with Wild Mushrooms, roasted Corn, dried Apricots, Apples and Poblano Peppers on a bed of Veggies & Roasted Potatoes. Quail won’t be a favorite bird for many, but this preparation serves up a tender and flavorful choice. A combo plate of fire-grilled Angus Filet and Lobster Tail($ 34 — 4.5 stars) had small servings of two safe American classics. I’d prefer the lobster tail to not be so dry, but otherwise, this was a winner at Boudro’s. It came with oven-roasted Red Potatoes, steamed Vegetables and a Herb Butter and Lemon Beurre Blanc(Butter Sauce). Our favorite part of the meal was the last with two deliciously decadent desserts. The Double Chocolate Brownie($ 6 — 5 stars) is as good as the pictures look thanks to Layers of Azteca & Toffee Crunch Ice Creams and a pair of yummy Brownies topped with Crème Anglaise and Chocolate Shavings. As if that wasn’t enough, we also adored the soft ‘n sweet Louisiana Bread Pudding($ 5.50 — 5 stars) with a wonderful Whiskey Sauce. Throughout our meal, service(5 stars) was consistent, on-point, friendly, and fast. Boudro’s on the River Walk was a wonderful and noisy introduction to the culinary possibilities of San Antonio.

They have outside and inside sitting outside was full, we went for inside sitting. their tableside guacamole is a must try. we also had lamb chops, but as most of the dishes are made with beef stocks and we don’t eat beef, so they have to modify the lamb chops for us. but sadly it was not worth it. without sauce and juice it did not taste good. we had double layer chocolate brownie which was really mouthwatering. Outside setting would be more fun if u get a chance and it is a thumbs up restaurant if u don’t have any food restrictions.

What am I waiting for to write a review for Boudro’s, a fourth serving of table side guacamole? Boudro’s exceeded expectations: 1. A one top(possibly two, but I wasn’t certain my friend would make it in time) but the host said«of course» when I requested riverside instead of merely patio on a busy Friday afternoon.(You know how places usually look sorrowful and whine«sorry, that’s saved for parties of three or four,» and then you eat, drink and leave & still the table sits empty.) We weren’t denied! 2. Table side guac! Delicious. So delicious. The slightly smoky flavor sets it apart from others. We had two orders in one seating & I ended up returning for a to go order the next day. 3. All the the dishes were well-portioned and flavorful. I’d like to river run this menu from top to bottom.(Very wide selection that could please most any palate.) 4. Friendly, timely and polite service. Especially on that to-go. They knew I was in a hurry and I didn’t wait more than five minutes for it. They make easy as 1,2,3 look easy! Oh, and four. Heck, I’ll do and add five: location and atmosphere… across from a place that had live roaming table side music(mariachi-style but not playing mariachi) and a tequila bar next door so I got to overhear one guest order«the house signature tequila» while her gravel-voiced, cowboy hat wearing companion ordered«a Bud Light and a shot of Jagermeister, that’s right.» I also doubt you’ll be disappointed if seated indoors — perfectly charming stone, wood and low-lit interior. What a gem!

So I guess I wanted to save my 100th review for a special place, and Boudro’s is it for me. It was a perfect night/date. I called and made reservation earlier that day based on the recommendations from my fellow Unilocalers. We arrived earlier than our reservation time but got seated right away next to the river. It was a Saturday night, so the river was packed with people. The foot traffic back and forth, almost right next to us, didn’t bother me however, since I enjoy people watching, plus I got a great company to focus on besides the river patrons. Our waiter was probably the nicest, friendliest, and most genuine waiter I ever had. He did a good job explaining the menu as well as making recommendation. We ordered the guacamole for appetizer. It was a joy to watch him make the guacamole right by the table, in his guacamole-magical-cart. He didn’t mind answering my questions and sharing some of the«secrets» for making the best guacamole. For the entrees, we ordered the blackened prime rib and surf & turf angus filet with lobster tail, with a side of sautéed mushroom per the recommendation from our wonderful waiter. Everything was cooked perfectly and out of this world! When I say everything, I do mean everything! The flavor, the texture, the portion, the ingredients, everything! The weird part is, what I was most surprised about wasn’t the prime rib or surf & turf, but the sautéed mushroom. They took it to a whole other level. Well, not a whole other level, probably 8 – 10 levels with that side dish. There were 4 different type of mushroom in there I think, along with a special type or corn bread. Definitely not your typical sautéed mushroom. Order it to pair with any dish, you will not be disappointed! I didn’t step foot inside at all, so can’t tell you how it is inside the restaurant, but it was wonderful to just sit outside, enjoy the good(somewhat humid) weather next to the river. Also, the restaurant sign is very small, if you don’t pay close attention, you’d more than likely miss it. I did find out that they do offer meals on the boat. You make reservation prior, or according to our waiter, people tend to cancel at the last minute, so you can get on the reservation just by walk-in, but to be sure, I do recommend to call and make reservation ahead. It’s basically a 3 course meal for about $ 45(I might be a little off here), you eat on the boat while the boat captain takes you around the river. After each course, the boat comes back to the restaurant so the server can get the next course onto the boat to you. 2 birds 1 stone. A nice dinner/lunch along with several trips along the river for sight seeing. I’ll definitely come back here again, but next time, i’ll have to check out the river dining option. Great place, great food, great service, what more can you ask for?
