My family and I were looking for a new Chinese restaurant nearby and was impressed by the number of good reviews. Ordered take out and I can honestly say, this was one of the best tasting Chinese food restaurants. Ordered the shrimp with vegetable and sesame chicken. Included soup, wontons and egg rolls, which were all really good. Family was impressed as well. We highly recommend!

I have been coming here since 2002… It’s delicious because it’s cooked by Chinese themselves. The only reason they didn’t get 5 stars is because it needs some interior décor updating. It looks the same it did 2002.

After reading other reviews I decided to try a chicken dish to go. I ordered the dinner general Tso Chicken, it was very spicy but delicious, enough for me to have 2 meals. Spicy enough that it slightly burned my lips as I was eating it. Had to wipe my lips with a paper napkin after each bite and drink lots of water. But it was worth it, the chicken was tender and oh so good. I will definitely have this meal again. I think I will stick to the chicken dishes and maybe the pork, since I did not have a good experience with the beef one time when I ordered beef Lo Mein. The price today November 1st was reasonable for the amount of food that you get. I will tell them to forget the soup as it is not very good. The egg roll was so so, I will try the crab meat Rangoon next time

Best Chinese in San Antonio that I’ve tried. The chicken corn soup is the best I’ve had ever!!!

No Sunday lunch specials and the prices are way too high. $ 12.95 for combo fried rice & $ 15.95 for spicy hotate roll. Both definitely not with it. Service was great. Waitress was very attentive! Won’t be back!

Yuck Just got what was supposed to be described as flank steak and scallop with vegetables in special sauce, which was on the chef speciality menu. It was actually undefined meat parts and sea creature in water. I picked at the broccoli but the dish was so bland i had to just throw it away. «I normally would not even bother with a bad review unless something unsanitary shows it’s face but this was just sad» So maybe i’ll wake up tomorrow feeling like i put my foot in my mouth again by writing this, but… At least my foot has flavor. Geez!!!

Been going here for years. Customer service is amazing and this is one of the best food values in San Antonio. I always get the jalapeño pepper steak with fried rice, egg roll, and egg drop soup. The soup is always great. The egg roll crispy and moist. And they make the jalapeño beef extra spicy for me. I got this all to go for under $ 10, and that’s including the $ 2 tip. If you’re thinking about eating here get your butt in the car and partake already. :)

I have eat here a lot because the price is good and the potion is big. I usually have some left over to take home for my kids and now they have delivery at night!

I never feel at home in a new town until I find a good Chinese restaurant. I’m from NYC and I knew nothing would really compare but China Bistro is the best I’ve found in my area so far. The interior could use some decorating improvement, but the food and fast service is great for take-out. Hot and Sour soup is considered a cure-all for colds and allergies in NYC, and China Bistro’s soup is amazing, and the crispy noodles are even better than the ones in NYC. The spring rolls were incredible! I don’t know how they make them but they’re crispy on the outside and they have almost a creamy texture on the inside of the roll-so delicious! Prices are VERY reasonable!

I blame my newbieness, & my fear of over setting an expectation for not giving CB5 stars before. It is still my #1!

This a nice great Restaurant for a great lunch with equally tasty food for lunch or dinner. A good place to relax and eat a meal in a quiet setting. The beef in garlic sauce is awesome dish with a cup of soup of your choice and egg roll. Don’t forget to get the hot which is hot and lite flavor.

Delicious Food! Great, great service! My family has been dining at china bistro(off Babcock near Prue, not to be confused with a near by place with similar name) for years. Tracy, the owner, literally makes us feel like family. We love them, and the food, and you will too!

For being under $ 10 a meal is a good place. I got the lemon chicken and the taste was a little bland. I cant give it a bad review because i need to try it one more time to make an honest review. This is a good place if you are on a budget and your are near the area.

Service/Environment: I came in and ordered take-out, so can’t comment too much on service. But the service that I did get(I think it was the owners) was really nice and great. It was quick. The dining area is small, but looked okay. Food: I got orange chicken to go. They do white meat, which tastes ok(but I have to say, I really do love the dark meat better). It was a good portion for the lunch special(good price too). Filling. But overall, nothing amazing. I might try it again because it is really close to where I live/commute… but I can’t say that I really love it. Orange chicken is covered in a carb-loaded sauce… it doesn’t matter if it’s white meat or not to me, haha. I love for my orange chicken to have a hint of a crispy texture. Overall, I might come back again because it’s so close to me and tastes okay, but it’s still not my favorite Chinese takeout in the medical center.

Not fantastic, but not bad. I’ve only been here once and it was for take-away, didn’t really know what to expect since my parents live close, we are constantly passing China Bistro but the other day we decided to bite the bullet and check it out. When we walked in we were greeted immediately by two employees, they were both welcoming/friendly. I explained how this was our first time and so she waited while we chose our dinners. From the time we ordered to when we received our food, it was about 10 minutes. There was no one in the restaurant which was shocking, but it’s a nice little set-up. The bathrooms are disgusting. They smell really bad. I’m not a germaphobe in any form, but touching the bathroom door really grossed me out because it was obviously marks that could be cleaned off, but weren’t. The food was fine. Not the best takeaway Chinese I’ve ever had, but overall fine. It was a bit greasy. The beef and broccoli was tasty, the beef tasted really good. Sweet and sour pork was pretty dry, overall not very tasty. And the curry chicken was fine. I would probably come here again.

I’m staying away from this place. Decided to try it out yesterday. I ordered Beef Broc, Chicken Lo Mien and Shrimp w/veggies. PROs: portions price quickness CONS: none of the food I ordered tasted good. Lacked flavor All plates came with fried rice, choice of soup and eggrolls/crab ragoon. Fried rice was a flavorless and didn’t have any meat in it. Soup was not good at all but it was warm. Eggroll was greasy and eh; crab ragoon was missing crab but the cream cheese tasted like cream cheese. Overall…will not eat here again. Still on the hunt for some good Chinese food.

Came here for lunch and had the Wednesday bento box. Pretty decent. Ginger was good– as always, asked for extra whenever I have sushi. Started with Miso soup. Decent for Chinese that’s NOT a buffet… to me, better than PF Chang’s(think they serve everything too salty). Maybe next time I’ll try the Chinese rather than Japanese since there was a good variety on the menu.

When Chinese food places offer Japanese items, the results are often disastrous. But the sushi and bento boxes on offer at MJ’s China Bistro are a bargain and quite tasty. The concepts Sushi and Bargain together would normally have me running, but the Happy Hour offers of sushi here are worth stopping for on the way home from USAA. The location on Huebner is also convenient to the Medical Center. Although it looks toney, vibe is very relaxed; don’t feel you have to dress up. Plenty of parking and a new building. Like Albert C noted, the management is trying hard to make guests welcome, and the staff is friendly and efficient. The standout meat-based entrée we’ve found is the basil beef, but the potstickers with a smoky sauce are delectable too. As a mostly pescatarian(fish+veg) I’ve not been disappointed yet with a Bento Box. Décor is trying to be cool and modern, and mostly succeeds; it was not quite finished at our last visit. They have some decent Cabernet, a prerequisite for us. If you’re a sushi lover like me and ration yourself to a few visits to Sushi Zushi a month due to cost — this is a more affordable alternative and preferable to the«chain» feel of Pei Wei.
