I love Freebirds, particularly this location. The last few times I’ve visited Freebirds, I’ve been ordering the spicy chicken burrito. It comes with the cayenne tortilla, spanish rice, chicken, roasted garlic, corn salsa, queso, sour cream, habanero sauce, and refried beans. For whatever reasons, other locations I’ve gone have either lacked certain ingredients or just straight up mess the order up(like adding black beans instead of refried beans or putting shredded cheese instead of queso). The folks at this location know their stuff, and my spicy chicken burrito was made as specified(with the addition of cilantro, pico de gallo, and lettuce). The lady who assisted me even let me adjust the level of heat with the habanero sauce, which was nice because people behind the counter aren’t usually that tentative, especially during the lunch rush. If you can, be sure to squirt some lime juice on your burrito, definitely adds something extra to your food! Don’t forget to sign up for their rewards program, you get a free Freebird-sized burrito for every 10 entrees purchased!

Being a California girl who has grown up with Authentic Mexican food her whole life, I was sort of skeptical of this place. I believe they have one back home but I have never tried it before until I moved here. Not a fan of Tex-Mex whatsoever but this place is pretty good. I love the chips and queso. It is so freakin good. I can eat them non stop if you let me. The carnitas burrito is also delicious. I usually get the monster one and can never finish it. The meat is moist and the rice and beans are flavorful.

Friend and I were looking for a place to eat before a movie, she said this place I said ok, having been to another location and liking it. Food was ok. Nothing special. Staff was non existent or really didn’t care it seemed like. Unfortunately what made it a bad experience was that it was one of the dirtiest restaurants I’ve EVER been too. :-(The bathroom smelled like one of those outdoor park restrooms that get cleaned once a month if anything. It was filthy like it had never seen a sponge or cleaning supplies. Toilet paper, USEDPIECES, attached themselves to the toilet and floors, I had to check my shoes before I walked out. Was so bad it just got me to start noticing how dirty the rest of the place was. Please hire a cleaning lady. I know I’ll be skipping this location from now on. Just a warning.

Something tasty and fresh for meat lovers and vegetarians. Delicious and priced fairly.

Not too sure what all the hype is about. It could be Chipotle’s sister store. They are however not as stingy as Chipotle, but the prices are not worth the food.

I always get the same thing every visit… Nachos… Why mess with perfection. I have never been disappointed and we have frequented several locations throughout San Antonio. I mix it up and get sometimes but today I was feeling frisky and got the steak… Spot on!!! Corn salsa is the bomb. The portion size is large so I always have leftovers… Put that baby on a stone in the oven and perfect meal for the next day!!!

They have gotten pricier since their popularity has grown but the burritos are one of a kind. I am pretty sure they put crack in their BBQ sauce because I can’t get enough. Nice spot for lunch.

I used to be a longtime customer, but they’ve really gone downhill the past couple of years. Today I stopped by and ordered my usual veggie burrito and asked for guacamole, which has always been included for free with the veggie burrito. They told me that it was extra, which is ridiculous considering that a spoonful of guacamole will cost as much as getting a burrito with steak and no guacamole. It’s been a long time coming, but guess I’ll be taking my business exclusively to Chipotle, where they don’t nickel and dime you and have fresher ingredients.

You know sometimes when you walk into a food establishment and then you walk out of there thinking in your head I will never revisit this place again? well this was one of those places. I’ve eaten at Freebirds once before a long time ago and did not recall the quality or flavor of it, so I decided to treat myself to lunch since I always bring lunch from home it was a mistake picking this place. My burrito bowl was being constructed by a young male employee he constructed my bowl very very poorly I was asking for vegetables and he barely scooped any on. I asked for sauce on the side, and there was sauce dripping over the sides. It was so bad that I had to point it out to the manager. I wasn’t impressed with the food or service(lack of).

I really enjoyed my burrito! I enjoyed a Freebird with a wheat tortilla loaded! It was excellently prepared and the staff was warm and professional! The Freebird Burrito sealed the deal! I will be coming back!!!

Best! Nachos! Ever! Like, seriously… These would get Beavis & Butthead nacho-wasted. I love that it’s not a problem to half & half any of the nacho construction options(chicken AND beef! Cilantro rice AND Spanish rice! All are welcome at my nacho par-tay!), or to add extra of building blocks you’re particularly fond of(bring those grilled veggies and and the corn salsa the fuck ON, pleaseandthankies!). And I *LOVE* that sliced avocado is available instead of guacamole. Perfect meal to haul out to the patio and pair with some fine beverages from Big Hops.

We used to love Freebirds… Until they screwed up the menu. Two tacos with chips used to be five bucks. Now there’s no more combo meals and tacos are $ 2.75 each. You can do so much better at Habanero’s or any of the whole-in-a-wall Mexican joints around town.

This is the second location I’ve been to in the city and probably my third time; I probably won’t come back for a while. I don’t understand the hype, to be frank. I don’t have a Chipotle fetish, but I would rather eat there. I really wanted to like Freebirds more. I’ve had the vegetarian burrito in a spinach tortilla and a veggie burrito bowl. The cilantro rice is decent, and the black beans are good. The sauteed vegetables are mostly slimy onions, and they put tons of rice with a tiny tablespoon of each topping. I wish they had spicier salsa, too. The guacamole lacks flavor, and was a bit too brown in color for my liking. 5 stars for those chocolate chip cookies… Try one. Maybe I’m getting old and uncool, but the employees seem stoned, at both locations I’ve been. Everyone is very nice, but I am wondering if they have a separate batch of those pot brownies for the employees in the back…

cool, fast, filling. Some things are great but some are lacking. The flavor is not lacking in the beans and rice, so good! The meats are marinaded nicely but I still prefer the chicken at Chipotle. I am not a beef eater but! the steak here is better than other burrito competitors. My only real issue is their baby food version of salsa! so awful… I guess i can get over the salsa issue because I know I’ll be back here for the tasty salad bowl.

Alright so, I’ve always been a huge fan of Freebirds; like, is give them 4 stars in their food and the atmosphere. Right now, however, I’ve got to raise it up to a 5-star review thanks to the wonderful service. Food’s great, but the people that work here are so much greater. So nice! For all you Chipotlers, I’d like to let you know that Freebirds has a better variety, plus huge portions. Completely and totally worth it. I usually like to get a super loaded quesadilla, but there are of course options of burritos(3 sizes), tacos, etc. You have the option of a couple of kinds of cheese, 3 – 4 kinds of meats, 2 kinda of rice and several kinda of vegetables and salsas. Once that’s done, you have the option of a few types of sauces, as well. I know that a quesadilla is traditionally not super duper loaded, but it’s totes possible here, and it’s good. Oh, and let’s not forget the various types of tortillas for whichever item you choose to have made. Once your order is prepared and you pay, you can go and pick from another few sauces, whether you want to take it home or sit there and eat. The atmosphere is very hippie-like and it’s artsy; it’s just super super fun, as is the music. Plus, they’re usually open until 10 p.m., so for late-night foodies like myself, the timing is great. And now… The people. They speak to you while you get your food prepared, and even after. They’re helpful and seem to love what they’re doing(even though I’m sure there are other things they’d rather be doing). I was rather pleased, and I will definitely be coming back time and time again.

This was the first of this brand I’ve been to. I’m a big Chipotle fan and this was something similar but different. The choices available to stuff into your burrito seem endless. Plus they offer nachos and taco salad which is pretty cool. Staff was really nice and the dining room was really clean. Def gonna have to get my hands on those brownies.

I was blessed with these burritos for the first time earlier this summer. Apparently I’ve been living under a giant bolder… I’m mad I didn’t know about these guys before hand. The employees were good-natured, and made the food line simple and straightforward. They seemed to have more food choices then those OTHER burrito joints I’ve been to. The interior is interesting; leaves a lot to talk about when dining in. I only sampled the nachos from my friend’s plate, but I’m getting a full order next time I come… Which will be within the week lol

I have not been to this location and one of my nephews has never experienced this place at all, so this lunch was going to be a bit special. They were amazed the size of the burritos you can get and since they are growing boys, they can eat them. But they decided together the Monster sizes instead and I got a Hybrid Steak Burrito. As usual you tell them what you want in them like going down an assembly line. It also was interesting that only women were working here at this time, but they were flirty and nice. Just like the places in Austin they looked a bit different with the tattoos and piercing, and obviously not the culture of San Antonio. The burritos were excellent and my nephews loved them. The staff waved us good bye as we left.
