Went here for breakfast today with the girlfriend. Small little hole in the wall place. The restaurant was packed, which means the food must be good! The staff were friendly and helpful. We ordered the brisket w/guacamole, pork chop, carne guisada and barbacoa taco. I haven’t eaten anything that blow my mind in awhile. The brisket taco was amazing, the owner says the smoke it for 16 hrs. By far some of the best brisket I’ve ever had. Definitely recommend this place

Well I have found out where the best beef enchiladas are in San Antonio after many years. Just order the enchiladas and get a brisquet taco and call it a day. 10⁄10 will come again and again.

Great tacos! I had the brisket, carne guisada, and a bean and cheese with bacon. My wife had the #5 Mexican Dinner and our friend had more breakfast tacos. Great all around. The beans were fantastic.

Like a heavenly messenger ascending from the heights of Taco Heaven, Garcia’s Mexican Restaurant generously proclaims their gospel of carefully crafted cuisine. Quickly becoming a San Antonio staple, Garcia’s has evolved into one of the hippest locations in town. If you’re in the mood for barbecue, but also have a hankering for a tasty taco, look no further than Garcia’s. Their brisket tacos trump the offerings of several well-established barbecue locales and their flavorful, fluffy tortillas waft dutifully through your senses, inspiring you with the true meaning of San Antonio«amor.» If you’re looking for a taste of South Texas, journey no further. Their brisket is bumpin, their potatoes are poppin, and something good is always cookin at Garcias!

Must try the brisket taco and chorizo/bean taco. As in other reviews, be ready to wait; but it’s worth it. Haven’t tried the barbacoa yet, so keep posted.

This is the best place for breakfast in the city of San Antonio. My parents started eating here before they were married, they brought me starting when I was a baby. Now 37 years I continue to come and now I bring my wife. They say some of the best food can be found in a hole-in-the-wall restaurant, and this the what they were talking about! It is not much to look at from the outside, nor the inside, but the flavor and the friendly staff make up for it! You can’t go wrong with the chilaquiles(migas with ranchero sauce). And for the best brisket tacos this is the place to go!!!

Brisket taco!!! I’d never heard of a thing but I will never forget it. The amazing char. The creamy avocado. The warm and homemade tortilla. Please order one and eat it for me.

Small hole in the wall. good tacos. Tamales.good.but small. Chorizo awesome. coffee strong. good, but can see why they one of the better, but not the best, taco houses. Tortillas kept then down. Not quite up to taco taco or Rosa’s, or original doughnut shop, but close.

Loved the atmosphere. Small restaurant, and not very much space. Cozy set up, and very friendly staff. Had a wonderful variety of food choices for everyone. The breakfast items are the only thing I tried this visit but they were very good. Not over cooked in anyway. Huevos rancheros is always a good test. The salsa was good, and the beans tasted fresh. Came with carne guisada. Very tender and flavorful. Got our food very quickly even tho is was very crowded. Overall, wonderful experience and I look forward to going back soon.

This is going to be a split review on two items I had this morning. I ordered carne guisada and brisket taco. Let me begin with what brought me here. Brisket taco-Earned them CNN ranking as one of the top 10 tacos in the US. The brisket taco came with two slices of thick brisket. Brisket had a nice peppered bark and grill marks(which I found interesting). YUM! The carne guisada rates 1 – 2 stars for me. It had BIG chunks of meat in a pale gravy. Gravy resembled flour slurry mixed in at the end of simmering the meat. I would definitely come back because of the brisket, but will pass on the carne guisada.

I came here on Saturday around noon when I was craving for tacos, since the place was crowded, I got my orders to go. The Brisket taco is delicious, although my Brisket taco with Guacamole is better IMO. They ran out Barbacoa by the time I got there and they only have it on Saturdays, so get there early if you wants it. The polish sausage taco is good. The tortilla is bit hard. Overall, food is good

Today I had the deluxe mexican plate. I substituted one of the cheese enchiladas for beef, And the guacamole chalupa for a bean and cheese chalupa. The cheese enchilada was dry with no flavor. The beef enchilada, tamale, and beef taco tasted like how dog meat smells.Gross.It didn’t even look like meat, It looked like gravy. The only thing I like here is the brisket. Lisa’s Taco hut has better food.

Amazing place! If you are a tourist, note that most of the diners here are locals! Which makes the restaurant even better! I came in for breakfast tacos: barbacoa(Sat. Only), polish&egg, and brisket, Amazing!!! Servers were soooo nice! It’s a must-have experience! They have parking spaces around the restaurant so u don’t need to worry about that.

Another recommendation from my friend Jonathan S, I trekked on over to the West side of town(just to let you know, I’m throwing up the W sign with my hands a literally said, «West siiiiiiide») for what was tabbed as «you have to try this» food. So I did. Rolled up and found bars on the door and windows… I took this as a sign the food was so good, they had to keep people out! Lol! Anyway, ordered the 3 tacos: Brisket, egg and polish sausage and pork chop. They were all outstanding. The pork chop was amazing, but the brisket’s flavor jumped out that taco and immersed my taste buds in Heavenly bbq bliss! I’m waiting for an excuse(OTHER than they’re awesome) to make it back over there! If you don’t try the tacos, you’re doing yourself a disservice.

If Garcia’s didn’t invent the brisket taco then they sure have perfected it. I stopped in for a to-go lunch after a recommendation from a friend. He was right, that brisket taco was the best one I’ve ever had. The meat itself was a perfectly slow-smoked brisket complete with a good thick smoke ring. It is tender and flavorful and arguably some of the best brisket in the city. It would make any pitmaster worth his salt tear up. They serve it with a smear of guacamole and the obligatory pico de gallo as well as some salsa verde. I saw the some of the plates of other dishes and got a good look at the menu and it all looks really good. I’m definitely looking forward to trying their enchiladas, but something tells me that no matter what else I order I’m going to have to get one of those brisket tacos! They are really so good! Can’t wait to go back.

This little place, I don’t know where to start, so I guess I’ll start at the beginning. The 10 – 15 minute wait was only 5 minutes. The waitress was prompt and courteous. We both ordered items not on the menu, but she happily accommodated us. Coffee was robust but not overpowering. Our food arrived about 10 minutes after placing the order. My plate Juevos Rancheros with refried beans and chorizo con papas Ala Mexicana was perfect, just like at abuelas.

Tex-Mex a dime a dozen here in San Antonio, had they’re typical Mexican lunch plate and it was good. The food is very standard and comforting which is good, just wanted more. Will return for they’re breakfast tacos. Food 7⁄10. Service 9⁄10.
