La Barranca

Happened to be driving by this place and noticed a full parking lot. Since this place is right down the street from our neighborhood I decided to give it a try. I ordered the chiliquiles. Food came steaming hot with an ample serving of papas and frijoles on the side. Food reminded me of a home cooked meal. They offer 2 choices of salsas. One red salsa that is very hot and a milder green sauce. I opted for the red sauce which complemented the chiliquiles well. Went back once more and had the nopalitos guisados (fresh stewed cactus) and the chicarones ranchero tacos (pork rind ranchero style taco). The noplales were bathed in a rich red chille sauce and the chicarones are cooked along with a fresh pico di gallo. Wow awesomely satisfying and well flavored. I will say that most might be thrown off by hole in the wall atmosphere but if you are willing to give it a try I think you wont be disapointed.

Love this place, little hole in the wall that serves great food! I love love the chicken gorditas. The beef fajita tacos are awesome! Can’t get enough of their red salsa it is sooooo addicting! Always a happy customer!

This place is top notch! I personally think it’s at a different level. On my second visit I ordered chicken enchiladas with hesitation because you never know how your favorite Mexican food is going to taste at a new place — so what a surprise to find a new place for enchiladas! Full of flavor-​fresh beans, rice cooked to perfection! Salsa and chips are crispy salty, not greasy!
On my first visit I ordered beef fajitas and the tacos were huge — I thought it was just me however everyone had huge tacos! Another item to order is the app. (backpage) tortilla soup/​chicken flauta– 2 fresh, crispy flautas! Say that again– crispy flautas– not chewing, hard, greasy! So leave the comfort of your neighborhood taco place and go to a better one!

This mom and pop shop has never let me down. Me and my mexican sized 20+ family love this place. (we never agreed on best taco place till we found this place) Carne guisada is crack like addictive. Machacado and egg is great here too. Barbacoa on the daily. You come for the tacos, but stay for the quality and customer service.
My 60 year old mom who can cook with the best, loves this place for any and all of their plates. Portions are well sized. Prices are extremely fair.
They take cards, considering alot of taco places dont. Their red salsa (funny enough looks orange) is very unique too, cant get enough of it, and this place.
