Wow. After reading all the great reviews for their pizza we were so excited to finally get some good pizza. We ordered ‘the don’ that people said they were crazy about and a custom. However I have no idea what all the rage is about as my husband and I both were very disappointed. Very little sauce and cheese and the crust was paper thin with no flavor. I’ve had much better pizza.

My wife and I did the trek(walking by the way) from Times square across the Brooklyn Bridge to the original Grimaldis-phenonemal! This SA location not only characterized the greatness from the original but excelled due to the size and engaging staff. This will always be my «go to» in San Antonio!

Best pizza in San Antonio. Crispy crust and high quality ingredients. Their caesar salad is one of the best I’ve ever had.

My husband and I decided to come to Grimaldi’s on Valentine’s Day this year. I was pleasantly surprised. The place did have mostly 4 – 5 star reviews, but I don’t always get my hopes up. This place is definitely worth at least 4 stars. The hostess told us it would be a 25 – 30 minute wait; we waited 10 minutes. Our drinks came quickly and the food didn’t take too long to come out either. Our hostess was friendly and the atmosphere is very family friendly. We ordered the Brooklyn Bridge pizza which was delicious. I wish they had a little bit more on their menu besides salads and pizzas and calzones, but if you want a good New York style pizza, I’d go here.

Good pizza, no doubt about that. This location makes me want to spoon my eyes though. I would rather walk on crushed glass than try to pick up a pizza from here again. Also, if they say 30 minutes they really mean an hour.

Best NY style pizza from a chain restaurant. The wine list is great and the desserts are tasty. Ordered the Grimaldi House Salad a few pizzas to share(The Don, and The Brooklyn Bridge). Crust was excellent and the toppings were fresh. Especially like the ricotta cheese on the Brooklyn. For desert we did the tiramisu; it was moist and creamy. Great experience overall and looking forward to coming back.

I really don’t know what is up with this establishment. The last 4 encounters I’ve had with this company have left me angry and disgusted with how poorly they treat their customers. The hostess are always RUDE and act like you’re bugging them when you approach them to be seated. I hate to break it to you girls but **NEWSFLASH** that’s Your freakin JOB!!! This location and la Cantera have rude staff and have destroyed my chances of ever going back.

Grimaldis is OK. Just OK though. They’re usually very busy and you’ll have a wait to get a table. I think the pizza is your average pizza, but it’s overpriced for the size you get. They charge for toppings, so be careful how much you’re putting on your pie.

2nd time coming here and this visit left me with mixed reviews. Things started off kinda bad with a small seating issue for 7 that took about 20 min to sort out and rectify, but it finally was and we were giving menus and proceeded to order. We started with 2 large salads and an antipasto of bread, mozzarella, salami olives and roasted red bells. All of this came out speedily, and I was not impressed with the antipasto at all, the red bell pepper was sloppily cut with the stem still on, the salami looked like regular, think oscar myer even, the bread was just cut, no toasting, seasonings or flavor what so ever, kinda disappointing but not horrible and one of the large salads had hair in it. Management immediately came over and offered to remake, but they said no and it was removed from the bill. The pizzas arrived shortly after and were piping hot and delicious. The dinner was a pleasant experience beside the 2 set backs mentioned, I will not order the anti pasto again, but will however return for the pizza, and maybe only the pizza

We were looking for some good classic pizza for dinner so we decided to give Grimaldi’s a try. When we got there we saw a line out the door. We figured it must be good since everyone seemed to not mind waiting for a table. As we walked up, we saw a sign on the door that said their AC wasn’t working. So with all these people waiting to eat in a hot restaurant, we knew it had to be good. Well… we weren’t disappointed. The pizza was so tasty! The prices were a little high because there was 3 of us and we all wanted a different kind of pizza so we each got 3 personal pizzas with the toppings of our choice. Our total was $ 75. A little on the high side in my opinion but the ingredients and cheese seemed fresh and worth the cost. Overall, we will 100% be back but we probably won ‘t make it a monthly thing based on the price.

The pizza is good depending on your choice of ingredients. Thankfully I chose wisely. Wish they had pre-set choices to pick from. It can get quite pricy since they charge per topping on the pizza. Overall good experience, great location, expected better service on a slow night.

Let me say first, that my wife and i have been frequent customers at Grimaldi’s for years. I used to eat at the original in Brooklyn, when there was only one Grimaldi’s. Those were the days when it was a pizza place and not a brand, and quality meant a lot more than it apparently does now. Here’s the thing about pizza toppings. If you’re going to put them on, put them on so that there’s some of each topping in each bite. Tonight we ordered a pie with sausage and black olives. The toppings were so skimpy it might as well have been a cheese pizza. I called this to the attention of the waiter who did the right thing and sent a manger to our table. She indicated that there had been some turnover in the staff and then offered to «take care of it.» What this meant was adjusting the bill by two bucks for the sausage. The effect of this was that I paid the full price for a pizza I wouldn’t/didn’t order. Really feeble effort. Won’t be going back here for a good long while.

I’ve been to a few different Grimaldi’s including the original. This location in San Antonio has great décor and great ambiance inside. The pizza is still consistent in flavor profile to the original without having to stand in line under the Brooklyn bridge. Also this location is just a much nicer looking restaurant to visit and service was very good as well.

Nice patio seating! Limited beer menu. Not sure if they serve cocktails, but I did see a bigger wine list than beer. Personal Pizza(12 in.) $ 9, Small Pizza(16 in.) $ 14, Large Pizza(18 in.) $ 16. You can also order white with garlic for $ 10, $ 16, and $ 18 or the pesto for $ 10, $ 16, $ 18. We ordered a small(which is also a medium) pizza with Italian sausage and mushrooms and a large white cheese pizza with spinach artichoke & spicy chicken sausage. Don’t underestimate the spiciness of of the chicken sausage! Think they soaked it in Tabasco sauce before baking it into your pizza. They were definitely not stingy with the ingredients(like most other pizza joints), but the white pizza COULD use a little more chicken sausage. There were some burnt areas of the pizza that was tough to eat, but guess it was a given due to some ingredients cooking faster than others. The 2 pizzas were enough to feed 5 of us. $ 2-$ 4 for each topping can make your pizza pretty pricey on top of the $ 9-$ 18. Overall, service was great and food was good. Wouldn’t mind coming back here the next time I crave pizza. FYI: Unilocal directions will get you lost. It’s across the street from the back of the movie theatre at the Quarry.

I have to say up front that I have never found a pizza place that I didn’t like. With that said, I have to say that we really enjoyed eating here. When we arrived at an off peak hour, we found the place was packed. It was about a 30 minute wait, but that gave us time to check out the menu. When we got seated, we were given a table by the door to outside seating. This turned out to be a poor place to sit as there was quite a cold draft every time the door opened. When the pizza arrived, it was piping hot — just put of the coal fired oven. The crust was awesome — thin and crispy. Toppings were kind of sparse, but very tasty. Was this the best pizza ever? No, but it was very good. We will return.

Warning: They restoke the fire around 4 p.m. and can’t make pizza at that time. This place is alright. We’ve been there three times now. The last two were to redeem birthday coupons for free, large, one-topping pizzas. Julie G. summed it up pretty well. The atmosphere is nice(love sitting on the patio when the weather is good) and the pizza is okay, albeit a bit sparse on the toppings. Their salads are lovely, huge and super fresh. Their unsweetened passion-fruit iced tea and sangrias are tasty. Haven’t tried their desserts. Can’t see that this would be a destination restaurant for me, but certainly an okay place to go if I’m in the area and craving pizza.

Grimaldi’s is located in the Quarry shopping center. We stopped in for lunch on a whim. Now we both«love» our pizza and we compare everything to Chicago and New Haven. Wow! I love when I stumble across great pizza! The crust was wonderful, the sauce had an excellent flavor and the appropriate amount. The cheese was delicious and loved the pepperoni. The restaurant is decorated in a New York theme with wine bottles for lighting. There are plenty TV’s too. We sat at the bar and had excellent service. They serve a few nice wines and a nice selection of beer. I love when you find a nice place, great pizza and a great glass of wine! If I find myself back in SA I will be heading to Grimaldi’s pizza!
