Went by today, they closed down. It’s a real shame, probably my favorite pizza I’ve tried since I’ve moved to San Antonio in August.

We used to order pizza from here, because it truly is the closest thing to ACTUAL Chicago style pizza in San Antonio and it(was) so good; but haven’t had it in about a year. Then we decided to call in an order, and got the worst experience. The staff was rude, our pizza was horrible and half cold. Completely disappointed.

The deep dish was good, but not great. The crust was a bit too hard and dry in my opinion. To me, the crust of a good deep dish should be so good you want to eat it all by it’s self. Also a little bit over priced for what you get. All that said, I would go back if I were in the area and in the mood for some pizza. Go at lunch, personal pan is always on lunch special for $ 5(one topping).

I’ve heard great things about the pizza, but for whatever reason I ordered the chili dog and my daughter ordered a salad for lunch. The cashier was extremely friendly and accommodating and allowed my daughter to order her salad with the exact ingredients she wanted rather than something right off the menu. We waited about 30 minutes for our food and were perplexed as to how a hot dog and salad could take so long to prepare. There were only two other full tables in the restaurant. My hot dog was absolutely awful. It was tough and rubbery, and the bun was so soggy it was inedible. My daughter’s salad seemed to be OK.

If eating here I would suggest the pizza, it was good, I got the spaghetti and wasn’t impressed with it, I had it w/the meat sauce and it seemed like it was just ground beef in tomato paste =(the salad was fresh and liked the bread that came with it.

Wonderfully delicious pizza! Have had Kennedy’s multiple times and have been pleased each time. Don’t be afraid to shy away from the deep dish — their thin crust is to die for. Highly recommend this amongst the sea of Pizza Huts and Papa Johns in this area.

After hearing good things from friends me and the wife decided to stop in. We walked in ordered and proceeded to wait for what felt like an eternity. Mind you we didn’t get deep dish so I’m not sure what took so long since they weren’t very busy. Anyways the pizza was pretty damn tasty but the wings we got were sub par. Mostly fat and no chicken, not good. I won’t knock me for that but the wait. That’s another story.

«Let’s try something new!» I thought. Bad effing idea. I’ve worked in the pizza industry… when a customer walks in, it should take no more than 20 minutes MAX to get them out the door(25 – 30 mins on a busy night). FORTYEFFINGMINUTES! They weren’t even busy… the little bit of business they did have could have been handled with two people instead of the four they had working. The ridiculous wait aside, the food was TERRIBLE and the price was off the charts. Twenty dollars for a personal pan pizza… that’s unheard of! I got the«monster» and it tasted like excrement. I will not be back to this awful place. If you’re in the area and looking for pizza, just go to Luciano’s. This place ranks at the bottom of my pizza list, below Little Caesars.

To all the people complaining about the wait: it’s a small kitchen, and it takes longer to cook a deep dish. If you want fast, go to Pizza Hut. If you want pizza done right, come here. This place is fantastic. The ingredients are fresh, the crust is crisp and delicious, the cheese is perfectly melted. This place puts love into the pizza. The meats are delicious as well. Had the midway monster. It was amazing. I also spoke with the owner. He’s a native Chicago guy, and takes a lot of pride in his recipes and fresh ingredients. He made sure we were happy and comfortable and that everything was perfect. This guy is legit, and so is his food. We are going to be regulars here, because I don’t want cheap lazy pizza, I want fresh delicious pizza, and this is where to get it.

The pizza here is far from Chicago style, I been here three times and all the times my pizza is under cooked. I have had real Chicago deep dish before and every ingredient is always cooked even, I guess I should try the advice to get it «EXTRABAKED» but why should I ask that if there the experts.

My parents were in town and I was on the hunt for THINCRUST Chicago pizza. My father grew up on the northside of Chicago eating thin crust pizza. Been here 4 years from Chicagoland area and haven’t found it. til now. If you haven’t ever had Chicago thin. the most mainstream way I can TRY to explain it is to think of a thin and crispy from Pizza Hut. cut into squares with a lot more flavor. It was excellent. Crust was crackery and crispy, sausage had great flavor, cheese was of great texture, AND it was not greasy. Which is how its suppose to be.(So good, my dad mentioned going back the next day. but they had to get on a plane to go home.) Also: Don’t get confused with the thin pizza style from Naples where the pizza cooks for 6 mins at 600 plus degrees. totally different. So to keep educating on Chicago pizza. there is deep dish(pan/thick crust), and then there is also stuffed pie in Chicago. For those of you not from the region, you think these are interchangeable in speak, but they are not. I read reviews knocking Kennedy’s for not having the toppings«inside» on the pan pizza. What you wanted was a Stuffed pizza. Kennedy’s serves deep dish. Not Stuffed. We also tried the small Supreme deep dish, substituting Italian sausage for Pork sausage. Got to have Italian Sausage and its gotta be chunks. Some pizza places here have the«Chicago» in their name. but you can’t put CRUMBLED sausage on a pizza and say its Chicago. True Chicago pizza has chunks of sausage. And I told them too. The deep dish was very good and the left overs heated up nicely on my pizza stone the next day. but the thin is what I have been looking for and what we will be coming back for at Kennedy’s. The owner was in the kitchen and came out and chatted with us. I gave it 4 stars, because they messed up our salad order, but did bring out a fresh one that was correct after I asked, but it would have been to not have to had do that. And I like salt and pepper shakers on the table, they had packets. so just the little things keep it from a full 5. I’d do 4 ½ if I could.

Most of the negative reviews center around how long the service takes, but deep dish naturally takes too long – just order ahead for dine in or takeout! My girlfriend and I just split a medium deep dish cheese pizza and were very pleased with the value and taste. We called in around 30min ahead, and our pizza was ready very shortly after we paid. She’s from Chicago and wasn’t disappointed, and I thought it was pretty great. She’s going to give this place 4 stars because she has more deep dish experience, but I thought it was excellent and will gladly come back. Tasty sauce, crunchy crust, minimal grease, and 4 pieces leftover for tomorrow.

Great pizza place in a nondescript strip mall. For the thin crust pizza and it was near perfect. Just the right amount of sauce and a perfect crispy edge crust. The Eli’s Cheesecake is a must

Slow service. I called almost 45 minutes before I got there and it still wasn’t ready. There were some frustrated customers there and it seemed they were waiting a long time. The employees were friendly, but can work on their ability to finish a deep dish in 30 minutes. The deep dish had a ton of sauce on it and I have had better Chicago pizza. Kids enjoyed the thin crust. Also, be prepared to give credit card when you order.

We liked this place. We’ve been to Chicago many times and had some of the best deep dish ever. This place is not bad, better than most of the reviews. The server was great and the food was good.

Picked up a deep dish supreme pizza from Kennedy’s last night for dinner: it was our first time. I got there about 15 — 20 minutes after ordering but when I got there it was still in the oven so I had to wait another 5 — 10 minutes. Someone else posted that the pizza is worth the extra baking time … they are totally right! The crust was absolutely delicious, not too«doughy» and the sauce had a hint of sweetness to it. All of the ingredients were fresh. We were very impressed! I think this is the best pizza I have had in the last couple of years. I’m not a thin crust person but I am also going to try that at Kennedy’s at some point. As far as the service, even though the people behind the counter are young(high school to college age) everyone was very friendly and accommodating. Before I left, I asked for packets of pepper and Parmesan cheese and the employee made sure I had more than enough to take with me. I didn’t eat in, but while I waited I used the women’s restroom: that was clean and well-stocked. The rest of the restaurant although small(this is smaller than the other Kennedy’s location) was clean and cozy. They also have a couple of tables outside for open-air eating. Cheese and red pepper are provided at every table. When I called in my pizza, it took quite a few rings before the phone was answered, but don’t become discouraged if you call and the phone doesn’t get picked up right away. After being at the restaurant, I could tell the employees were making sure folks that were at the counter were tended to before reaching for the phone. Let it ring until they can answer, it’s worth it. This location is located in a little strip mall so there’s plenty of parking. It is also very convenient to Highway 151 and two gas stations. If you’re curious, give them a try!

Love this place! Would be here way more often than we already are if we lived on this side of town. The food is legit! Fresh made, tasty, filling Chicago style deep dish at its best. Every time we come we get the Veg-Head and we eat on it for days! Some people say its expensive, I say it’s an investment as you will have pizza to not only get you thru your meal but half way thru the rest of the week as well. Service is good for counter order/pick-up window style of service. Place is usually pretty busy when we’ve been but regardless, expect a wait as your pizza can take up to 30mins. Tho trust me-it’s well worth the wait. We’ve brought friends here when they were in from out of town and they rave about it also! We don’t get to come quite as often as we’d wish, but trust, they’ve yet to disappoint. Once we’ve finished our pizza left overs, we are quickly dreaming about our next trip here.

I’ve never been to Chicago. But I would like to go one of these days. For now if I want a good taste of the Windy City in regards to pizza, then this is the place I’ll come to. Kennedy’s has almost everything right. The crust, a deep dish style made out of cornmeal and real mozzarella cheese. When I said almost, I meant that while the pizza is good, I know for sure that the toppings and cheese go on the bottom while the sauce goes on top. Yes this is the type of pizza you will have to eat with a fork. A small is really big enough to feed just one. Their salads are also good too. I’m not too big a fan of the Eli’s cheesecake because it’s too rich and a bit too pricey for me. But I’ve had a sample of their cinnamon bread on my first visit here and it’s pretty good. I’d like to try their Italian beefs, Chicago style hot dogs, wings and the pasta dishes.

Tried this place based on the TV commercials. My family an I ordered a traditional Chicago style deep dish pizza. It took a long time to come out, but we expected the wait. We were starving when it got to the table. I could only stand to eat 1 slice. It was the worse pizza I have ever eaten at a pizza establishment. No one else liked it either. We took the rest home, but ended up throwing it out. Waaaaay over rated. Will not return. *The staff was very friendly!!!*

Amazing crust with enough crunch and chew for any pizza lover, good sauce but they go light on toppings which means it comes out quicker, love the super amazing fresh stringy making a mess of myself cheese that melts in the mouth. No complaints. Never had bad service, food, experience the many visits I’ve taken. They do specials for 2 or 4 that can help a family just wanting a quick choose for everyone involved. Never tried the non pizza offerings, so no comment. Only downer is how far away it is, I’m always craving them right around rush hour or closing time. :(
