Loved this place!!! It was packed when we got there but only had to wait about 5 – 10 minutes. Staff and our waitress was super friendly. I ordered the shrimp cocktail and it was super good!!! My boyfriend ordered the stuffed fish and he loved it, they put a LOT of shrimp! Next time I am in San Antonio I will come back!

Worst dining experience. This place was freezing it was super cold in there. My wife ordered a shrimp soup, it was more like tomato soup with over cooked shrimp. My son and daughter ordered a mojarra frita which had no flavor and it seem like they had cooked it earlier and just re-fried it, it was dry and over cooked. We also ordered a ceviche and ordered a side of mayo which smelled and tasted old and fermented. The sopa de marisco was also over cooked and rubbery. I don’t mind paying for good food but this was not worth $ 70 plus típ. We wanted to try this place because a friend of ours recommended it but I think we will stick to our choice for mex seafood which is much better than Las Islas. El Bucanero is 100 times better

Best Shrimp Ceviche we’ve found north of Mexico! On the outside it looks a bit like a hole in the wall, but the inside is clean and bright. Delicious margaritas !

I Unilocaled tacos in the area i was in and this place came up. I ordered the stuffed lobster. It’s stuffed with shrimp, octopus, abalone and i believe crab. Not bad. Food was tasty and flavorful. This particular plate should be for two people. It’s alot of food! I didnt finish half of it. If in town, check it out. Many choices in the menu.

This place is complete chaos in the most mind-blowing way. At one point I thought to myself«Am I still in America?!» English speaking? Nope. Everybody speaks Spanish. Maximum capacity? Nope. Never heard of it. The place was even packed at 3:30pm and there was no downtime for the entire 3 and a half hours we were there. More and more ppl just kept coming in. There was even a long line in the bathroom hallway. I thought ppl were waiting to use the bathroom. But they were actually waiting for a table. Any rules/formalities? Nope. Ppl eating a pizza they brought from outside. Cribs bumping every table. Lady trying to sell her table and chairs to everybody she sees. It is such a wild place for ppl watching! I felt I was eating in the middle of time square in Mexico. Yeah I know that doesn’t make sense. I didn’t think so either. I’m still trying to wrap my head around it. I got constant stares as I was the only non-Mexican looking person in there. See, there is an Asian girl! She got two eyes, two ears, and a nose! Crazy experience. Making sense doesn’t seem to matter here. Everyone’s goal is just to eat like they have been starving for the past 10 years! When in Rome, do what the Romans do. That’s exactly what my friend and I did. We got ourselves margaritas and plenty of Mexican seafood. My mango margarita was delicious. The ceviche with green sauce was so fresh and spicy. Spot on! The best part was the Nayarit style shrimp. It was not like anything I’ve tasted before. Omg it was so addicting that we kept licking our fingers and ordered ourselves a second plate right away! Best shrimps ever! I’m so glad I came. Not to mention a random mariachi band just popped in twice and one of the mariachi old man took a instant liking at me and kept waving. I waved him back every. single. time! Superb food, one of a kind experience. BOMB.COM!

This food is very plain and pedestrian. Food for people who drink«Miller Lite», watch football, and drives a Ford F-150. I sent back the«chicken chipotle», it’s a chicken breast flatten down thinner then a tortilla. The chicken was so over cooked it was crunchy and dried out with flat-top markings. The chipotle sauce didn’t have a ounce of heat spice and was watery and lack favor. Only cops and beer drinkers would think its good. The fajitas was also a disappointment, the meat are pre-cut and I know the meat is cooked without any seasonings. Which is why the meat was so dried any flavorless. To give meat flavor you have to season your protein with salt and pepper for the meat to come out moist and have flavor. None of that here. Food. 1⁄10.

Amazing. Good prices for seafood, the owner is friendly, from The Windy City. Pineda, Pineapple stuffed with seafood… Complimentary Ceviche, Sweet Tea, Lobster stuffed with octopus, shrimp, abalone. Also met the owner, whom was quite friendly. A lot of people on the weekends, so be prepared. But it is worth the wait…

Aye caramba! This place is muy delicioso! Some of the best seafood I’ve had around here! Absolutely delicious stuff. The place is in a small place along SW Military that’s easy to miss. I really enjoyed the menu. Only one item here is fried. The rest are all served in much healthier ways. The drinks here are plentiful and varied. They have everything from margaritas to aguas frescas to a beer can topped in cucumbers, shrimp, and Tapatio hot sauce. I can’t say I’ve ever(intentionally!) had seafood in my beer, but somehow it worked in an ice cold Tecate. The menu is mainly ceviches, each of which is more imaginative than the next. I got a molecajete cajo, which is a spicy bowl of mussels, shrimp, octopus and cucumbers. It was honestly one the best ceviches I’ve had! Really fantastic. The service was great, but they didn’t speak English. However, the menu has all pictures so it’s easy to point at the photos if you’re having difficulties. They have live music too! While we were leaving, an accordion player and his band were setting up. Viva! Parking is not the best in the front, but there’s a large lot in the back that makes it easy! I highly recommend that you check this place out.

When it is a full house of locals you know you are in a good place. If you are a seafood lover, you gonna love this place. My friend was in the mood for pasta and we started looking for Italian restaurant but ended up at this place after looking at their seafood pasta. It was soooo delicious that it will top any Italian place. So if you are ever in the mood for pasta, don’t limit yourself to only Italian searches! This is definitely a gem!

Want spice? Want seafood? Don’t want it fried? This may be the place for you! I was impressed with this place from the moment the waitress placed a basket of tostadas on the table with an accompanying bowl of complimentary ceviche. And it wasn’t a tiny bowl either; there was plenty of it there for three of us to enjoy. I ordered the sublime filete de pescado relleno plate. This was a huge fish filet with shrimp, octopus, peppers and I don’t even know what else under a layer of melted cheese. It came with white rice and some very nice grilled vegetables.“Sabroso” doesn’t even come close to describing this beauty. This was one of the best lunches I’ve had in a long time. I had been a little unsure of the octopus – it can sometimes be a little too chewy for my taste – but it was sweet and tender. This place is a keeper – check it out! P. S. One of my companions, Elite Unilocaler Chris A., had the mixed fajitas of beef, chicken and shrimp, which he enjoyed. Will he write his own review? Keep watching this space!

I can’t believe this gem was open for a year and we didn’t even know about it! Its a mexican seafood restaurant. Don’t see that alot but i love it! I swear while we were enjoying our ceviche dip, we were eyeing other people’s meals and drooling… We are going back there no matter what. We had a fish paella and it was really really good. The juice in the rice was just delish. there was a medley of all kinds of seafood, lobster tail, squid, octopus, small and jumbo shrimp. Really enjoyed it.

Almost missed the turn to make it in the parking lot going east on SW Military. Medium sized restaurant tucked away on the roadside. Our waitress was friendly and gave us all the time we need to order. The free bees are great: chop and salsa, and a small bowl of ceviche. We had the empanadas for appetizer and they were excellent with the tartar sauce. For our entrée we order a family sized meal. I can’t remember the name, but it was pretty much all the seafood you’d want on a huge plate. It was so good. We took our time eating and enjoyed it all. I had a large michelada that seemed lack in alcohol but it was still good. Only bad thing to say was that everything, everything, tasted kind of «fishy». I know it’s a seafood restaurant but a lot of the flavors seemed to run together. Otherwise very good and will definitely return.

My husband and I have made Islas Maria’s our go to mariscos spot. We came here for the first time 3 months ago and have been back every week since for put ‘Mariscos Mondays’. The entire menu is seafood … from filets of fish to mixed seafood plates to Baka style shrimp cocktails. I can pick a favorite dish because I have so many at this point! We’ll be coming back here to try some new menu items as well as our faves. Highly recommend for a date night, drinks and appetizers with friends or just to eat with the family. ***they also give 10% Military Discount

I arrived pretty late on a Friday evening after work. I actually had driven by the place and saw what looked like to be a Mexican Trio entertaining the diners so I figured, why not? The place was packed to the gills and a waitress eventually wiped a table down for me and took my drink order. Something about Mexican beer and seafood being the perfect match. Or possible the spicy seafood make the beer a greater thirst quencher! A Pacifico was brought to me – although I ordered a Victoria – along with a basket full of golden tostadas and saltine cracker packets. A tiny bowl of ceviche was brought to the table along with a duo of green salsas. The ceviche was tasty and had a much different appearance that I have been accustomed to previously. The tiny pieces of minced fish resembled crumbled queso fresco mixed with a pico de gallo. I then opted for the mixed ceviche plate: a combo of fish and shrimp ceviches. I tasted the salsas and boy were they hot! Actually, one was more tangy than hot. The ceviches were both fresh and tasty and the portions were fairly large. They have other seafood offerings like the legendary pescado zarrandeoado. I’ll probably be back, although I wouldn’t haunted in my dreams if I didn’t. I’ll definitely try to find a better deal although for seafood, I think only Mexico can beat current seafood prices.

Very very good, drove around for awhile to find an authentic Mexican Resturant that wasn’t a chain. Somehow missed this on Unilocal, which I use a lot for mom & pop places. Found this by passing it and seeing how packed it was decided to turn around and give it a shot. So glad I did my nephew had Filete De Pascado Relleno & I had Pollo a la Crena chipotle w shrimp and fish tacos, my 1st for time for fish tacos. We areoved 9 minutes before they closed and they were still piling in behind us. The customer service was expedient and courteous. They even got a laugh out of my broken Spanish.

Highly recommend it! We went on a late Friday night near their closing time, and I was scared that the food wouldn’t be good because it was so late. But it was delicious! Our server was very attentive, as soon as we sat down she placed chips and two kinds of salsa along with A small plate of ceviche(i think). The chips were very crunchy and homemade one of the salsa’s was hot and the other mild, we loved the small plate of ceviche we even wanted to ask for more! My husband got the pasta Marinera and I got the paella. The paella was a little bit on the spicy side, I loved my plate but I enjoyed my husbands more. Portions were very well served and the food was yummy!

Saw this place from the corner of my eye and I had to stop. And I am soooo glad that I did! They have the Mexican style seafood that I have been craving in San Antonio. There were no tables open when we arrived but we only waited about 5 mins. They even had mariachis(I’m not sure if it was only because it was a Sunday) I ordered a Sangria Preparada that was perfect! I can’t remember the name of the dish I ordered. It was fully loaded with crab legs, shrimp, clams, fish, and octopus, in what I think was a stew. It was a nice spin on seafood. Definitely will be going back.
