I really liked this location and I love the upgrades. The staff was very friendly and quick to get your orders completed. The food really good and the serving size was enough for two people. The reason for the 3-star rating is that the bar area smelled like gross bacteria, like they needed to clean the beer drains or mats or whatever. I think cleanliness is the most important thing for a resturaunt or bar and this trip they clearly missed the mark. It was hard to focus on the good points due to the smell. We ate our food quickly and took off instead of hanging out longer — lost $$$$ for them,

HOURSAREWRONG– RESTAURANTNOTOPENUNTIL12AM(or they just didn’t want to serve us, I hope it’s not the latter.) So, after a week of travel and long day of driving, our family finally arrived at the Hyatt(where this restaurant is located). We were famished and options were limited. My husband and I debated while our stomachs growled. It was 10pm. Too late to take our young kids into the city, restaurants were closing and the night wasn’t getting any younger. Room service? After being confined to a car all day, we all desperately needed some open space. There’s a restaurant at this hotel, they’re open until midnight! But is it family friendly? We looked up the menu, confirmed: they have a kids menu! So, we made the trek downstairs to Q Kitchen. There was a group of people seated in the otherwise empty restaurant. No one greeted us, we flagged down a worker who informed us we needed to ask the bar if we wanted a table. We shuffled into the bar(painfully aware of the fact that we had young kids with us in a bar while people sipped their old fashions and wondered why we were even there) and with the FOUR bar staff members-not one acknowledged us until I(again) flagged down someone and asked if we could please get a table inside the restaurant.) One person told us to sit anywhere, another person corrected them saying we could only sit on the left side of the restaurant. There’s a certain point in your interactions with staff of an establishment that you just know you won’t get great service but, again, we were already there and committed. It’s too bad the staff here were NOT as committed. Relieved to be leaving the bar, we sat at a table on the far left side away from the view of the bar. They’re trying to maintain a certain ambiance(we get it) we weren’t trying to disrupt anyone’s evening just get our kids fed. There’s also a certain point when it’s made very clear that you are NOT welcomed which happened right after we seated ourselves. A waitress actually came up to us(!) and, instead of greeting us, asked who seated us(the bar advised we seat ourselves, on the left, I told her) «You can’t sit here» she snapped, obviously annoyed, «these tables are already set for breakfast, there’s only open seating in the bar.» I looked at the table, all it had was a plate with a selection of jams. We couldn’t sit in the bar area due to it’s pub height tables and conversational groupings of chairs, not at all conducive to dining with kids. I was taken aback by her abruptness as she basically dismissed us. The restaurant hours posted show it to be open until 12am? Since we obviously were not welcomed at the bar either, we picked up our kids and started to walk out«Why are we leaving?» moaned the kids«I’m sooo hungry» We told them it was closed. So now, still tired and hungry, we picked up our toddlers and left, embarrassed. We didn’t want to give Q Kitchen any business(via room service) after that so my husband ended up running out for pizza late that night while we waited in the room. After devouring the cheesy hot slices of za, our bellies were full but the rejection from Q Kitchen still stung. They had many opportunities to offer some great customer service, all of which were completely missed, ignored, not acknowledged. Don’t bother coming here. They’ll just make you leave or make you want to leave.

I’m giving them a 4 because their cheese dip was so good however their brisket was very dry. Good flavor but dry. Sangria was amazing!

Anna is the reason I come here! Serves, food and drinks are great. I would be a regular if I could but I only go there when I visit San Antonio. Hope to see you someday again!

We really enjoyed our experience at the Q restaurant and bar. While we stayed at the upstairs Hyatt, we didn’t think we’d take the easy option out and dine downstairs but we ended up happy with our decision. The ambience in the bar seating area was nice and relatively quiet. Service was fantastic as the tables were extremely cramped thus plates were removed promptly when finished. We had the wings(both flavors), rib appetizer, tacos, Cobb salad, and the whole wheat pasta. Wings were great and really satisfying. The meat was tender and the sauces were very flavorful. The ribs were also excellent, and had a nice Asian zing to them. The salad was decent and the pasta was just average. Definitely worth a visit regardless if you’re staying in the hotel upstairs, as the food was very tasty and satiating, and the service was on point!

The steaks and BBQs were good. We had to sit in the bar because the dining place(Q kitchen) was not open.

Just to clarify this is not a barbecue. It is a bar restaurant in a hotel lobby. The service was great, the atmosphere was very nice quiet and great for a group of a half-dozen people to sit and have conversation. The food was typical for a hotel restaurant. Nothing too creative nothing too exciting. The baby back ribs were smothered in an overly thick, sweet, and overly strong sauce. The beer wine and liquor selection seem to be excellent. But if you’re looking for barbecue this is not the place to go there are really only two barbecue items on the menu. The menu is all over the place with pizza salads nachos and nothing really specialty or unique. The service was very good, but could not make up for the generic hotel food.

The best deal for lunch near riverwalk. Here you will find a very good and tasty buffet with different types of salads and soups! Also, you can choose your pasta — made to order! The buffet includes beverage and deserts too! All of that for only $ 12.99! Loved it!

I came here from a quick dinner while staying at the Hyatt Regency and I was unimpressed with the food. I ordered brisket and it ended up being fairly tough, though the BBQ sauce was quite good. The beer flight I had wasn’t bad and the service was decent, but it was an overall average place. If you’re staying here and need a quick dinner or if you just want a drink, then you’re okay. Otherwise, I would get out of the hotel and try someplace else.

Worst service I’ve ever experienced. After waiting a long time to be seated I sat myself at a dirty table. I sat for 30 minutes before I could get someone’s attention to bus the table. They just removed the dishes but didn’t wipe the table. I placed my order at the same time as they came to bus. My salad and food didn’t take too long to come out but the table next to me sat with no food for 40+ minutes. I had to wait for my check for another 30+ minutes after I requested it. Overall, it took over an hour and half to get a salad and potato skins that weren’t anything special and cost $ 20.

Nicest service ever honestly and I adore their lunch buffet! For like 12 $ U get a main, a salad, dessert, a drink, etc and it’s all home made! Right down to the pasta sauce and whipped cream! It’s amaze!

Absolutely no idea why this place is ranked at 4 stars. Granted, I only had breakfast here but it was pathetic. I love the hotel — I stayed here for 3 nights, and it’s arguably one of my top 3 favorite Hyatt hotels I’ve ever stayed in. It’s embarrassing that the flagship restaurant is so bad. Ambiance — nice, the whole lobby of the hotel is fantastic and it carries over to the restaurant. If you«hate» being in a fish bowl you may hate this ambiance but I think it’s fantastic. Furniture — what the hell happened? I am a 6 ft tall guy with normal body proportions and when I sat on the chair I felt like I was a 5 year old trying to act up all grown up. The chair was too low compared to the height of the table so you have your shoulders lifted up in order to place them on the table and/or use utensil to cut stuff. Fix it — it’s not rocket science. Food — Just meh. I make French toast that is at least 10 times better and I don’t charge people $ 15 for it. For the price this better be fantastic — and it wasn’t. It was dry and just flavorless. The fruit helped a tiny bit. And pecan? Really? There was perhaps ONE pecan slice that they crumbled into 10 absolutely miniscule pieces. The dish should have come with a magnifying glass to help find the pecans. Drinks — Hot chocolate with WATER. Enough said! It will cost you a grand total 20 more cents per order to make it with milk and make it right. I think you should if you want to charge $ 5 for this overpriced crap. So again hotel itself — great. This place is the absolute opposite. DO **NOT** GOHEREFORBREAKFAST!

Great upscale taste on classic BBQ. Nestled in the Riverwalk Hyatt, Q is all sleek lines and high ceilings, but they flavor their meat well enough to taste the BBQ soul. I’ve had the traditional BBQ plates they offer, and they’re great, but my last trip here was for the 2nd annual Urban Backyard BBQ. I thoroughly enjoyed the small plate offerings in a way that will pull me back over and over to nibble these noshes. I’m particularly partial to the Texas style poutine. Take some house made french fries, cover them with gravy and local cheddar cheese curds, and plop some pulled pork on top? Yes, please! I would not only like an order of these, but I’m like to be buried in them. The smoked steak sandwich is also incredible. Shaved strip steak, white cheddar, mushrooms, caramelized onions, and roasted garlic aioli served on soft bread. So hearty, but the flavors balance in a harmonious way. I really love the inclusion on mushrooms on this one. It adds some meaty heft without adding any more actual meat, making it really filling and satisfying without leaving you weighed down. These aren’t on the website’s menu, so I really hope that these weren’t one time party offerings. If they are, I would highly suggest they make these regular offerings. This could be the perfect place to hang out for a happy hour and share around the table. If they’re permanent, thank god! Because it’s a hotel, the hours are long, but the menu is different depending on time of day. 6:30am to 11am: breakfast 11:30am to 2pm, M-F: pasta bar 12 to 12 every day: lunch and dinner plates

We wanted a non-Tex Mex option that was close and provided an easy escape if we needed it(we were staying at the Hyatt Regency at the Riverwalk, and had our 2 year old daughter with us… you never know when you need to take a walk with restless 2 year old). This place fit the bill, for sure. We ate early, like 6:30pm, so the restaurant was empty. Our food was great. Before the meal, we had some bread with salt and molasses flavored butter. Petty tasty stuff. My wife and I typically split meals because we just can’t eat as much as we’re served in most places. We split a house salad, which was pretty darn good, as far as salads go. It had some sundried tomatoes in it, which I love. I could have eaten a bowl of them. For the main course, we split the half chicken with mac and cheese and fingerling potatoes. Really flavorful chicken, and the chicken jus made a great sauce for the potatoes. It was the perfect amount of food to split, but I could have eaten more simply because I enjoyed the flavor of the chicken. The mac and cheese was ok. Nothing to rave about, but our daughter enjoyed it. The layout was very open, and it was easy to jump up with our daughter for a quick walk to keep her entertained. The service was not great, considering the place was empty. Our waiter didn’t come by very often, and I had to hunt down a spoon to scoop out the mac and cheese to split up. My wife ordered a glass of white wine. She wasn’t a fan. The waiter never asked if she liked the wine, which I found odd. She didn’t make a fuss because she didn’t really care to try another. The waiter also never cleared our table of our salad plate and bread plates, so we piled them up in the unoccupied table space next to me. The table became a crowded mess, and that’s difficult with a 2 year old that likes to grab whatever is in reach. Overall, I’d go back if others I’m with suggest it. They just need to work on their service a bit. Maybe things are better when there are others around forcing the staff to make their rounds.

Came back on this trip to San Antonio. It was cold out so I opted for the chicken tortilla soup. I could taste the fire roasted tomatoes, the fresh herbs, and moist chicken. Obviously house made. This place has really fresh, delicious food. They’ve even got a healthy options bit now. Not your average BBQ. it’s elevated.

Thanks to Travelzoo and Unilocal for finding this place! Ashley and I ventured south for New Years and I, like I always do, was looking for a deal in the Lone Star State. I found the dinner deal on Travelzoo for Q on the Riverwalk and am VERYYYY happy that I did! The Q is located in the Hyatt Regency. The restaurant has an open lay out that lets everyone walking by look in and drool over the delicious BBQ you are eating. Our server was very nice and attentive. The voucher from Travelzoo provided more food than we could possibly ever eat in one sitting, but I tried my damnedest to make it happen. We split the queso fundido appetizer, I had the full slab of STL style ribs, Ashley had the cedar plank salmon, and for dessert we split the chocolate carmel brownie sundae. Each of our entrees came with two GIANT sides. I had the mac and cheese and mashed potatoes, and Ashley did the mixed veggies and potatoes. The food was seriously amazing. I was so full by the time dessert came around that I asked for a box for the remaining two ribs(I know, I was ashamed too). I was hoping to finish them off later in the night back in the hotel, but I couldn’t. There was literally no more room in my body to cram food. We rolled our way back to the hotel and crashed for the night. You know how they say everything is bigger in Texas? Well they were right… because the next morning… what I did in that bathroom… I’ll let you figure it out.

This review is for the Christmas day brunch buffet they had on offer. We didn’t stay in the hotel and we didn’t eat their regular menu. Make a reservation. We did on open table. I think they allocate an hour for you, but we weren’t rushed out of the table — we tried to savour each plate and enjoy our experience, instead of hitting it hard like the Tasmanian devil and being stuffed after the first course! Lol! It was busier than I anticipated it would be, but not so crowded that you were all up in your neighbours business. $ 46 + tax and 18% gratuity(or there abouts) it worked out at around $ 116 for the two of us. This includes all the food in all the land, free champagne, mimosas, fruit juices, sodas, tea and coffee — which we didn’t know ahead of time, but we were very happy to discover. I counted 5 courses, but you could probably count more or less depending on how many plates you use and how highly they are stacked ;) All of this is recalled from my food-coma memory, so bare with me! Lol! Salad bar: 3 types of lettuce, 4 kinds of dressing, and about 7 – 8 pots of «toppings», cucumber, onion, carrots, tomatoes, peppers, bacon and croutons. Behind the soup/bread there were also 3 drawers of salads, broccoli salad, pasta salad and what looked like sweet potato salad but I could be wrong. Fresh, fresh, fresh! As salads go it was delicious. Start small though, you wanna build up… Soup: butternut squash bisque — just a little cup, but dear LORD it was delicious. I could have drank gallons of the stuff! Don’t overload on bread at this stage. DONTDOIT. 1 or 2 slices, max. Save the bread for the cheese course. We left the cheese and antipasti station for the moment, but it’s right there — so you WILL be tempted. Entrees: carving station(pork loin, prime rib) here you’ll find the mash potatoes, apple sauce, mushroom demi-gravy, and — weirdly, bread pudding. I tried the pork, it was great. It wasn’t dry, the dude can slice as much or as little as you’d like. Prime rib was wayyyyy too raw for me but hubby loved it. Mash potatoes were EPIC. Hubby who doesn’t tend to like potatoes, loved them. It was great to see brown jus-gravy and not thick creamy white gravy. On the other side of the salad bar, you have the other entrees, carrots and asparagus, crab topped rainbow trout, braised short rib, sweet potato mallow gratin, stuffed chicken breast, wild game paella… I’m not kidding, ALLTHEFOODINALLTHEWORLD!!! I loved the veggies, the braised short ribs rocked my world, like freakin’ amazing. The trout was perfectly cooked too. Least fave was the chicken, I just didn’t care for the stuffing inside. Next it was the cheese, bread and antipasti/cold seafood. If you have room. The breads were fresh and delicious, the cheeses were just sitting right there — it was tempting to take an entire block, and hubby could have camped at the antipasti table all day… and night. If you’ve any room left, the dessert table is round the corner beside the bar. I had a small piece of cheesecake with raspberry couli which was light and tasty. I thought the cake was chocolate cake, it wasn’t(unfortunately), it was the strongest coffee flavour EVER. Pass. Not my bag. I also managed half a slice of the key lime pie — hands down the single best key lime pie i’ve ever eaten… and wished I could have taken the other half back to the hotel in a box to eat whenever i’m eventually hungry again. Hubby also tried a swiss-roll type thing that he said was nice. Things they need to improve this fab meal: stuffing(it’s CHRISTMAS dangit!!!) custard and/or whipped cream and pleeeeease label stuff, you’d probably reduce waste if people know what they are picking up! Service was really great, he was bubbly, friendly, attentive and didn’t rush us. When i asked for tea, he brought me like 6 kinds! Now? Roll home!
