Ok here’s the scoop. The bar tenders today we’re awesome. It was hot as hell and i needed a place to cool off. I found this great place with great bar tenders Kostya & Jessica they welcomed me to San Antonio served me when needed and I never needed to ask for a drink. And the gentleman who greeted me with open arms and a great personality at the door and constantly made me feel at home they call«WW» is a icon. Keep up the great work. As of the owner I had a glimpse of him, pretty arrogant really was more interested in repairing his lil pony then giving me the time of day. He Mr Goatee take the time to visit with your customer instead of being involved with yourself. Ok Employess 5STARS OWNERS. A waste of time

I won’t recommend anyone going here if you are hungry and in desperate need of food. Half of the items from the menu were not available. Server picked up only three of us to take order(for unknown reason) and left rest of the group waiting to order for an hour and then one more hour(hopefully) to serve food. I am just wondering whether they went to do grocery or not. My friends are still waiting for the food while I am writing the review. Ohh…I had to remind the server two times to serve French fries. I also nicely asked for a fork, which was never given to me. ***I heard from my co-workers that brisket is pretty good and wanted to mention it. Just one funny entertainment at the entrance. Just press the right button to enter and don’t try to find anything in the naughty place. They are watching you.

My family and I were in town and checked Unilocal and found this place with decent reviews. The reviews could not have been more wrong. Food was terrible, brisket was over cooked and had a rubber like consistentcy. Prices were on the high side and the place was unkept and dirty. Service was terrible although they were friendly. I have no idea why others have liked this food or raved about the establishment… maybe once a time this place was ok… but not now.

Awesome Bar Food and COLD Beer. Go by and say hi to WW, he keeps the place going. My wife and I had not been there in a couple of years. We walked by and noticed a change in the atmosphere. WW introduced his self right away and made us feel like we were regulars. Moses Rose’s hideout is our new favorite San Antonio hideout.

Excellent Barbecue Brisket, we had the Pope Boy sandwich and I always try a places Wings and they didn’t disappoint they had good heat, crunchy but super meaty and juicy. Service was also very attentive and friendly. Match that with the industrial meets rustic vibe I would give it a must do. Not all of the good places are on the river.

Visiting San Antonio, first time in TX. Wanted to try TX barbecue, not much options in the area. What’s up TX??? Tried this place, pretty much a sports bar. A loud one! Sports bar menu, only barbecue was a brisk sandwich. It was AMAZING! I was like wow. Negative part was trying to get service, only one waitress. It was around 4pm and they had up to 4 tables and customers at the bar. She was good and tried. Also the tables were sticky. I would go back for that sandwich, it was really good.

The wings are wonderful. The burgers are great cooked well and cooked through. Would say to add a egg on it with the brisket. Also order the dam good fries with brisket are the best If you got the time the drinks are well made. Love the vodka drink one of the bartenders made for me So I would highly recommend this place to my friends.

I have been to Moses Roses and I have to say that the experience has been great! Just so you know, this isn’t some fancy upscale lounge place. No, this is your hole in the wall bar with a bunch of rowdy people. So if you don’t like crowds this place is not for you. It’s great for Fiesta, first Friday pub runs, and Spurs games. I’ve been with many friends celebrating pub runs and most recently fiesta. Don’t be surprised if you run into old friends. It also makes for good times! They do have cheap drinks and the dj plays a wide variety of music– hip hop, rnb, tejano, country, reggaton, pop, 80s, 90s. I’ve introduced this place to people from out of town and they were really impressed with the atmosphere. Here’s a tip– get here early because it does get packed like at over capacity and you may have to wait to get in. Do not try to come late at night. Best bar downtown!

I’ve been to Moses Roses for the pub run and had a great time. I decided to go for lunch because the menu sounds good. I ordered the wings with veggie sticks(only celery because they don’t have carrots) and was a bit disappointed. We went around 1:30, so after the lunch rush downtown but ended up waiting a really long time for our food to be served. There was only a few people there but it still took quite a long time. They brought fries for some reason which I didn’t order, they were not tasty, the wings were ok and the ranch had a funny taste. I would recommend Moses Roses for drinks but not food.

Almost walked past this«hideout». Won’t happen again. Excellent food and beer selection. The Brisket Tacos are of-the-charts good. The service was outstanding. Went up to the bar to order a beer. Every selection on tap was explained, and the bartender(Steve) invited us to sit where we pleased, and that he would bring the beers to us. He came over with some menus in case we wanted to eat something. Had just had a late breakfast a while earlier, but he explained that there was a daily special, and the tacos were the order of the day. Decided to try it and split an order with my friend, and was it ever good. Steve made us feel welcome, and did everything he could to make for a very pleasant experience. Other staff members walked bye and said hello. Very friendly and accommodating atmosphere. If you’re looking for a trendy place, this is not it. I can show you hundreds of them where I’m from. But if you enjoy great pub food, good beer, a good atmosphere, fair prices, and great service, this is the go to place. Charles from Las Vegas

Hands down the best burger I’ve ever tasted. It was their San Jose Burger, which had brisket, bacon, burger, cheese, and on some fancy bun. It was heaven. We came here during a busy Saturday night on a convention in 2015. After seating ourselves no one came to help us. The chef himself had to come out and bark at the staff for them to serve us. That was cool of him. It didn’t bother me since I knew they were busy. The chef was such a stickler for his recipes that he refused to serve a dish since he ran out of one of its ingredients. That’s dedication. All in all it was a fun time. If I ever find myself in the area again, I will stop in for another San Jose Burger.

Tried stopping by for a quick bite, and a few beers(wanted to watch some basketball). Sat at the bar(place was nearly empty), and had 2 bartenders walk by me several times, making sure not to make eye contact with me. I sat there for 5 minutes… Got up, and walked out. went to the Ticket bar down the street. That place was packed, fun, and got some of my hard earned money…

The food is 2.5 stars. Burger was overdone, fries were pretty ordinary. But the onion rings were stellar. The rest of the stars are for good beer and food specials, and pretty exemplary staff. I’d go again just for a beer and service.

Good downtown bar with the amenities you look for in a bar. Good beer options(bottle & tap), nice whisky selection, great bar food, pool table, flat screen TVs(sports), outdoor seating, decent prices(for downtown), and your steps away from the Alamo.

This was a fun«last bar of the evening» type of place. Were were in town round about Halloween and had been to a nice dinner place and several other high class bars. But needed a place to push our drinking over the top and also make fools of ourselves on the dance floor and this place did the trick perfectly. The food and drink are exactly the kind of cheap but effective fair you would expect from a crummy bar. One of the highlights was a man who came in at closing time with a cooler full of warm freshly made burritos. Some of us bout them and some of us didn’t. They were taste and delicious especially in our late night drunken state. Every person who did not buy one later regretted it. Overall I would say that the place have a vaguely effortless country/townie feel to it. All in all this is a fun to drink, get classic bar food, and dance especially especially if you are not interested in drinking somewhere classy or hip.

First night in San Antonio so we needed a late night dinner place. Found this next to our hotel and decided to check it out. It’s a game to get in! See if you can figure out how to get in! I had a good time riding on the horse.(Btw, you’re on camera and everyone can see you. No pressure). Atmosphere: Dive Texas bar/restaurant. It looks like it has live music at some point since there was a stage set up. It’s got a pool table and darts in the back. Plenty of bike parking as well. It’s a pretty big place, lots of seating areas, a long bar, and lots of TVs all around. It can get pretty loud in here-at one point they started blasting the music so I couldn’t even hear my mom that was sitting across the table. Also, maybe because of the kitchen, it started smoking in the place while we were there. Like BBQ smoke, not cigarette smoke. But the place got foggy from the smoke and smelled like smoke towards the end of our stay. Food: We got the special burger that was on sale that day($ 5 for a burger is a fantastic deal). Great tasting burger too — it was cooked to perfection and the flavors were tasty and juicy. I decided not to get a side of fries to be healthy. Mom got the chicken wings — cooked two ways — one buffalo and the other lemon pepper. Both were good. Water — For some reason, the water(I assume tap) tasted really really realllly bad here. It was a really bad after taste. I guess it’s not a problem if you order an actual drink but I was unable to drink the water with my meal. That was a big turn off. Service: Waitress was friendly and nice. Took care of our needs. It’s a fun place to be — check out their daily specials for some great food deals. Come here to watch the game.

Great dive bar… if you can figure out how to get in ;) We spent a Saturday afternoon here with a large group of friends and had a great time! From the moment we walked in we felt comfortable, greeted by a friendly bartender who did an amazing job taking care of not only our large table, but several other bar tables and the bar itself — all with a huge smile and polite demeanor. The other bartenders/servers were also great — it was obvious that the whole staff was working as a team and handling the busy crowd with ease. They know what they are doing. There is a full bar available, as well as a list of unique TX beers and some pretty fun cocktails. The spicy bloody Mary was great — as well as the Moscow Mule, served properly in a copper mug. The food menu was simple, but with some delicious burgers and taco options. My husband had the Crockett burger and loved it, and other members of our group had the brisket tacos, french fries and onion rings and all left happy. The green salsa was really good with a feisty kick to it, and one order of fries is more than enough to share between 2 – 3 people. This is a great spot to watch games. There are plenty of TV’s everywhere you look, and even when the game is being broadcast over the speaker system, you can easily still hold a conversation with the people around you. The location is perfect if you have a group staying in different hotels downtown on the Riverwalk — it is walking distance from just about all of them. We will definitely recommend to friends & family, and hopefully be back one day! Cheers!

Moses Rose’s is one of the primary stops for First Friday in San Antonio. If you’re not aware of First Friday think a bunch of people running around in costumes bar to bar in honor of the monthly theme. If you check it out during FF you can expect a bunch of rowdy people collaborating and passing back drinks in order to head to the next bar. One of the fun perks of this joint is how you have to hula hoop in the front room in order to get in. Plain & Simple… hula hoop and you don’t have to pay an entry fee. Not sure about everyone but I love to penny pinch if possible. There is one thing to consider; however, everyone I mean EVERYONE sees you hula hooping inside the bar on screens. It’s a great ice breaker and an even better chance to laugh at your friends when it’s their first time checking it out. For those of us who get the drunken munchies or have late night craving then Moses Rose’s is your spot. The kitchen is open till 1am! Drinks are cheap and karaōke and music is solid.

This place was referred to us by Roland, the Segway Tour Guide. We stopped here, DO.NOT.GO.TO.THE.HOUSTON.STREET.ENTRANCE! It’s a joke entrance. It’s how they pass the day, by watching you on video. OMG. Anyway, on to the review. It’s Taco Tuesday, so you get two tacos for $ 5. I got the pulled pork, my wife got the brisket. We were the first in there for lunch hour got our food quickly. The food was outstanding.

This place is a recipe to my heart. 1– Fake entry door(and live feed to watch people go crazy inside) 2– Texas craft beer 3– Bacon all over the menu 4– Chicken and waffles(!!!) 5– Great location 6– Excellent service 7– Free hugs(!!) with Unilocal check-in 8– A freaking map of the running trail I frequent near the bathrooms. 9– Jester King Mad Meg bottle retail $ 20 for $ 9.50 10– Smokey haze(I learned is from the smoker ONSITE) Literally everything I love under one roof. I will be back and I will bring friends

The quirky«hidden» entrance clues you in to the fact that you’re going to be in for a fun experience, and once you get inside, there’s tons of space to spread out. Live music adds plenty of ambience to the whole place, and even when things are quieter, there are plenty of sports screens, engaging servers, and great food to keep you company. And did I mention the food? It’s rather cheap, yet also quite a step up from your typical fried, microwaved, or pre-made bar bites. An «appetizer» sized serving of brisket tacos was seriously entrée-sized for this gluttonous fatty, and another appetizer of deviled eggs added some more enjoyable heft to my waistline. Friendly service, live music, and great food — what’s not to like?
