I went to this salon for a day of beauty and ended up with a bum manicure, a pedicure I could have done myself and a burned face. Yes, that’s right, a burned face! The esthetician applied a lactic acid peel to my sensitive skin without disclosing that’s what it was and it burned my face. The gel manicure I got looked like it was applied by a 10 year old and the pedicure was not much better. I called a few days later and spoke with the esthetician(and owner) who apologized and offered to send me a gift certificate for a massage that has failed to show up in the mail almost 4 months later. Stay away from this place — you really are better off with the $ 15 manicure next to HEB.

Being new to the area, I thought I would give this place a shot. It seemed like a nice location. Believe me, the salon is very nice, and the receptionists are great, too. However, my hairstylist was condescending beyond belief. She did not even introduce herself. When she asked me what I wanted for my color, she just did it and didn’t show me any swatches to see what I preferred. It turned out the way I wanted it, but I felt the customer service was lacking on her part. Then I got a manicure and pedicure… The problem at this place is everyone does everything, so nobody(yet at least) specializes in nails. My manicure looked horrible. I went home and had to redo it myself because I can literally do a better job. The bottom line here is these girls need to realize customer service doesn’t end with the receptionists, they need to be just as professional. I don’t need to hear about how much you love to get«wasted.»

To be fair, I must mention that I’m fairly new to the whole having-my-hair-done thing(rather than home color touch-ups and SuperClips cuts). So, I’ll be the first to admit that my less-than-good feelings about this salon may very well be that my expectations are/were unrealistic. You decide: I first went with Urban Dealight vouchers for hair cut & color. Having highlights done(understandably) increased the price of the service. A bit pricey for my pocketbook, but it looked nice. You get what you pay for, right? After using my second(and final) hair voucher, I was taken aback at $ 190 bill for just highlights and color on my 3rd visit(no cut; I ‘didn’t need it”), which was supposed to have included a discount for booking the appointment at the end of a service(15%? Don’t remember exactly what was promised). No itemized bill though I do believe charges would have been explained to me had I asked. Lesson learned, I thought: need to ask, beforehand, about charges. I called to make an appointment for my second Urban Dealight mani/pedi, and was informed by the(very nice) counter person that I could«gift» my other vouchers, but since I’d already used one, I could not personally use another. ??? Not only had I used 2 separate vouchers for 2 separate hair visits, but I saw nowhere on the nail voucher that it was limited to one-per-person. I scoured the voucher; no mention of that limitation. I called the salon again, spoke to the same(very nice) counter person, and told her I didn’t see that exclusion anywhere, how should I have known about it? She replied(very nicely), «It was on the page when you first purchased the voucher». Maybe it was; however, I looked at everything I could access and so no mention of this exclusion. After some thought, and a review of Urban Dealight’s policies, I contacted Sivan, and mentioned my disappointment at being unable to use the vouchers. As I was unable to verify their limitation in anything written, I requested a refund. I received an automated email response thanking me for visiting their site, saying, «We will get back to you within 24 hrs.». After more than 3 days of waiting, I contacted Urban Dealight for a refund, and they were fantastic. Long & short of this experience: Salon folks were nice. My hair looked nice. My initial mani/pedi was mediocre, but for the price, I couldn’t complain. The lack of response to my disappointment, though, it what really left a bad taste in my mouth about this place. I’d talked myself out of «being taken» with the $ 190 bill, owning the fact that I hadn’t asked about charges. However, when I made Sivan aware of an issue and(in my opinion) was completely blown off, I realized this is NOT the place for me.

I have had the same hairstylist for years. Recently, she decided to join Sivan on Huebner. At first I was apprehensive because prices would go up and well, I just didn’t know what to expect. Today I finally visited Sivan and I was so overwhelmed by the service. As a promotion, they are offering hair treatment, highlights or full color, and style for $ 75.00. I was offered wine, water, or anything else I needed. While my hair was coloring, I was served a parfait topped with whipped cream and two mini Hershey bars. Every employee introduced themselves to me and made me feel like I was the Queen of the salon, even though there was other clients in the salon. My hair has never looked better or felt better. The head and hand massages took all of the stress out of my day. It was amazing. Run to this salon. It is top notch and in a great location with excellent parking. You have to give this salon a chance with this great promotion. It is fresh and the stylists are ready to go. Run. You won’t be disappointed.
