Excellent Indian food. Went here for the first time last week on a Monday night. Very quiet. Apparently they just started being open on Mondays. Haven’t been to a lot of Indian places since relocating back in the summer so I don’t have a lot to compare it to for here in San Antonio, but I was very impressed. The food was very good. The atmosphere is quite elegant. Service was nice though it sometimes took a while, even though it wasn’t really crowded. Will definitely be back.

First time eating Indian food and it was very good!!! The staff is extremely nice and give great customer service! The biryani and chicken curry were very good! Honestly, it was really good but just couldn’t finish my food due to the spiciness. But hey what do you expect?! It was still really good. Also, I do not recommend eating as leftovers.

Since our first rave review when the restaurant opened till today, we have never been disappointed by Spice. We do the lunch buffet on average 3 – 4 times a month, and the selections are always wonderfully flavorful and diverse. Not only is this the best, most consistent Indian restaurant in San Antonio(and we’ve seriously tried nearly all of them), but it’s also one of the best we’ve ever been to anywhere.

This place is unpredictable. Quality of the food is mediocre. The Briyani was bland and mostly white rice. The menu has changed three times in the recent times and some South Indian items are not there. Many items in the menu are not available(kodi vepudu and chettinad chicken for example). They serve starter and main course at the same time and sometimes starter after the main course. This place also hosts big private parties and if you happen to be there at that time you will get even worse service. Overall disappointed.

Satisfied my Indian food craving! Picked up food from here last night. Had the kabab platter(must have), paneer tikka and garlic naan. The food was really flavorful and full of spice. The only disappointment was waiting for 50 mins to pick up the order! But the food was delicious so wil def consider this place again.

The lamb tikka masala is amazing, along with the garlic Naan. My husband ordered the lamb vindaloo, which was also very good. Great place!

So far I have tried so many Indian restaurants and trust me this is the best of all. I am basically from Dallas, there are many Indian restaurants there but I wasn’t satisfied with any of their dishes. The food at spice is really authentic. The best thing is we can select the spice level like zero or medium or spicy, that option was great. Me, my friend and my sister loved their food and their friendly service. Will definitely visit again. I would recommend people to try Apollo fish, chicken platters, pani puri, goat biryani, goat curry and in deserts kurbani ka meeta and ras malai

I have been to a tons of Indian Restaurants in this country, and this is one turns out to be the worst. I went there because of the awesome reviews but I don’t know why is it so. Firstly, I asked if they had tomato soup for the starters, they said yes and brought me something else that looked like a soup but was something else entirely. Secondly, I ordered traditional Indian favorite: Daal Makhani, Mutter Paneer and Butter Naan; this combination is meant to be perfect everywhere, you would know if you’re an Indian. It was tasteless, literally tasteless. Moreover, the guy brought the main course while I had just started working on my soup, hence the main course had gone cold when I ate it. I had ordered a Masala Chai in the beginning only, it never came. While I was waiting for it, I thought to have a dessert. By the time the dessert arrived, the guy had asked me for the check 4 times, I was surprised of such hospitality, even though the place empty. It was the most unprofessional business venture that I have ever seen in my life. I would never even think of going there.

Recently becoming a pesca-vegetarian I wanted some Paneer Butter Masala for dinner, and this place did not disappoint! My hubby got the Chicken Tikka Masala, he said it was good but not the best he’s had, he liked my Paneer Masala more. The food was amazing, they give you a lot of rice with the entrée which was very filling. We also ordered garlic naan which was $ 1.50 per piece per the waiter(who by the way is VERY soft-spoken so you REAAALLLLYYY have to listen to him). I asked him how big is the one piece and he repeated«it’s one piece» so we weren’t sure how big it was, but it came to be cut into 4 pieces which was the perfect size for hubby and I. The service was good, waters were always full and they checked in on us a couple of times. They even offered to box our food up but we wanted to do it ourselves. TIP** if you pay with cash, they give you 5% off your total bill!!!

This place has the best Indian food that I’ve tried in San Antonio. That being said, I’ve only been to the other buffets in town, but I ordered of the menu at Spice Fine so that might not be a fair comparison. The recommendations were delicious. I only wish their portions were a bit bigger and I wish the dishes came with more veggies in them. Maybe that’s just how Indian dishes are though, since we didn’t specifically order any vegetable dishes. We got some sort of curry lamb and chicken. I also liked that the menu was large and the staff there was very friendly and helpful.

Love the food here! The owner and his employees are all very nice. The only issue I have with Spice is time. Each time we’ve visited, our food takes over an hour, even though there is not a lot of people in there. Last time they brought out my friend’s chicken tikka, and then 45 minutes later they brought out her rice, Naan, and everyone elses food. The food is delicious, but be prepared to wait for it!

1st visit. Did not expect such a good experience. I passed by a lot of times but thought was no good. But had to meet our friends there. Biryani was awesome. Kodi vepudu was also very good. Stay tuned for 2nd visit

One of the worse Indian food places I have eaten in San Antonio. Even with the never ending changing of owners/name of this establishment, the food still remains mediocre. There is a reason why this establishment cannot flourish and continues to change names/owners. Biryani Pot is hands own a better choice for Indian food in San Antonio.

Absolutely terrific! Staff are totally helpful and courteous. If you’ve never tried Indian cuisine, this is the ONLY place to try! The lunch buffet is rotated throughout the week and always fresh and delectable, perfect for sampling their awesome menu. Spacious and clean, they cater to large groups and have a full liquor licence. Entire kitchen staff is Indian, and they import their spices directly from India! Prices are great. Only complaint I have is that they are closed on Monday. Definitely worth the recommendation! Even to your enemies! Enjoy!

Nasty, I went there for the lunch time buffet, the food was cold and the selection was very poor. The only positive thing about the experience with the lightshades, I did like those. Would I go there again, no. Would I recommend you to go, no. It’s the worst Indian food I’ve ever tasted.

A friend and I came for a weekday buffet lunch with our kids. First the good: The food was very good — quite a depth of flavors. The pricing was reasonable. Room for improvement: the layout of the buffet line needs to be optimized. It is a single file line, and the plates are in a corner that is hard to reach. I was deeply disappointed that there were no samosas. The chair backs at our table were sticky. The food is worth it, though, so I’ll be back.

We are so glad we checked out Unilocal and found this amazing Indian buffet. My husband and I take our Indian food seriously, and we don’t mess around when we are craving great Indian food when we don’t have the time to make it. Amongst their delicious offerings, they had chicken, vegetarian and goat biryani, a variety of delicious vegetarian sabji’s(dishes), my favorite being their eggplant dish, and tasty tandoori fish and chicken. One thing that we really appreciated about this establishment was their customer service. The host was very welcoming to each and every one of his customers. He was attentive, funny, and very nice. Their customer service was simply top notch, and this is one of the main reasons this place has 5 stars. Great food, superb customer service, what else can you ask for?

Have been twice and tried 8 different dishes. The staff is very friendly and helpful. But more importantly, the food is to die for. After a successful first visit, I brought a group of friends here with high expectations and Spice did not disappoint. The wait for entrees is going to be longer than at the Burger King or the Chili’s adjacent to Spice, but that’s because the food is being made fresh. You can taste the quality. The price is fair for what they serve, and I hope these guys become an institution of San Antonio. Too good not to try! I haven’t been to visit for lunch yet, but the waiter informed me that they do a daily buffet on weekdays(I think that may exclude Friday? or cost extra on Friday?) for $ 10 with a bunch of variety. Do your mouth a favor and visit Spice ASAP!

First time trying Indian food and this place made me LOVEIT. Although I am not Indian I could really taste the authenticity, so much flavor. The naan was do die for! The only thing is that the music that they play is kind of weird and makes me feel like I’m in a spa waiting room or something but that won’t stop me from eating, Definitely coming back again!

I just left this restaurant and I am so impressed. The man helping my boyfriend and I was absolutely lovely. Incredibly funny. I loved his humor and how he took his time to not only talk with us, but recommend dishes. He explained what we could expect from each dish. My boyfriend tried the chicken korma based off recommendation — simply divine. I think I have found a new favorite dish! If youre looking for great service and food, come here. The price cant be beat for the quality of food you get along side the great service. Cant wait to come back!

Took my best friends and partner for dinner tonight and it was amazing. The service was phenomenal and so warm and friendly. This place served the best authentic cuisine. I recommend the butter chicken, masala and komora chicken. You may have to google the dishes to get details on what to order but all you have to do is ask. The recommendations are spot on. Best sweet tea was a bonus. ******awesome******

My 5 stars don’t have a huge basis for comparison, 2 places in Austin and 5 in San Antonio, but this is the best Indian Ive had. Beautiful décor, I loved the tables and the blown glass chandeliers(they kind of made me think of Medusa the Gorgon’s hair). So anyways, lunch buffet, some of the usuals, chicken tikki masala, which was great. Butter paneer chicken, great also. The vindaloo chicken was off the charts amazing and the best Ive come across so far. Spring rolls were there also, and were tasty and well done. A few potato dishes, and this time there was a diced carrot dish that was savory and sweet and unexpectedly amazing. I had two full plates, it was so good. The tableside naan was fresh and buttery and delicious as well. The drawbacks: Im a samosa fan. Matter of fact, I love India Palace’s crunchy samosas the best. They had none. Since their menu is rotational, maybe some days they will have them.(they did have those awesome spring rolls) Chai tea: I didnt think to ask, and it felt a bit weak. Its GREEN chai tea. If black chai tea is your inclination, don’t get this, but if you love green teas(I don’t), then go for it. Cliff notes: Despite the minor drawbacks, overall 5 stars. I loved it. The other places will still be a part of my occasional Indian cuisine, but if you’re a fan of Indian, I’m going to put this place as MUSTCHECKOUT.

Believe me when I say there’s no Indian eatery this side of town I’ve yet to give a go – my search for authentic northern AND southern Indian cuisine [well as any and every in-between] has me sprinting from one restaurant to another like some rabid goat. Also believe me when I say there’s no Indian eatery quite like the 15-day-old Spice situated right on 410 betwixt a Chili’s and Burger King. Should Spice gain momentum, I’m putting my money on it being the one to dethrone any of the Medical Center area’s «Big 3» — that is, Bombay Hall on Wurzbach, India Palace on Fredericksburg, and Simi’s on Fredericksburg inside Loop 410. In short, Spice presents a spread most similar to India Palace but with food taste and quality equal to if not better than Bombay Hall, even if by THAT much. Regarding restaurant atmosphere and accommodations, Spice feels slightly classier, almost trendier in terms of interior décor… if I were to host a private party, for instance, Spice would be my go-to hands down, followed by either Simi’s, India Palace, or even Ali Baba(Wurzbach/Babcock). Several pros worth expanding…(1) $ 10 grants you unlimited access to their lunch-only(11 – 3PM) buffet of 18 or so offerings;(2) buffet items change per day, and on that note,(3) you can expect quite a few unique and exclusive items* not found elsewhere;(4) piping fresh naan baskets are brought to table as often as requested;(5) private dining rooms are available, capable of seating up to 200 guests;(6) a dressed stage for musical acts, miscellaneous use, etc. enhances the main dining area;(7) management and waitstaff are notably attentive, professional yet very conversational, and extremely chill — awesome, awesome vibes. All in all, I cannot stress enough how much potential Spice has. Acknowledging my enthusiasm after generously sampling each of their menu items, the restaurant’s owners Anjan & Vivek emphasized their chefs’ adamancy about never utilizing outsourced masalas. Hopefully I need not explain how such a seemingly minute aspect makes a world of difference in terms of dish finish and finesse/execution. Anyway. Enough. Just try Spice yourself. You won’t be disappointed. In fact, it’s impossible to be. Open 7 days a week, 11 – 3PM and 5 – 10PM(11PM on Fri/Sat), the crew here would love to have you and fulfill any wishes for out-of-this-world fine Indian cuisine. *Hyderabadi Mirchi Ka Salan, Chicken 65, Chicken Manchurian, Navratan Korma, Tamarind Sambar, Eggplant Masala, Dal Palak, Bendakaya Vepudu, Carrot Halwa, Cardamom Kheer, Rava Kesari, etc. Rating specifics(i.e. 1 – 5, low-high)… — Overall recommendation = 5 — Food taste and quality = 5+ — Food variety = 4 — Portion size = 4.25 — Price = 5 — Atmosphere = 4.75(free WiFi too!) — General service = 5+ — Waitstaff = 5+ — Location = 3.5
