The Egg & I

Disappointed. I long ago visited another location and had a great experience. However, that was not the case for this location. We were seated immediately and then proceeded to wait over five minutes for our waitress. This was not a result of being too busy, as several tables were open. Having kids this is not a good thing. Once making our order (we ordered everything all at once out of fear, but really hate doing it that way), the service picked up. Our waitress was very friendly. However, the food then missed the mark. The only exception being the Micky Mouse pancake my son loved. I had the eggs Benedict. It just wasn’t a good representation. As we got our food I heard another table ask the manager. I hate writing negative reviews, but facts are facts.

I love The Egg & I chain. The food is delicious and the like their many options. They have many meatless options for vegetarians which I appreciate. At this location, our hostess was bubbly and helpful. Our waitress wasn’t too pleasant, she seemed to be having a bad morning. I would return, because the veggie Benedict was delicious.

I went here for breakfast with my son and sister. Dishes nothing out of normal, service horrible. The coffee was serve with cold milk, my sister found a hair in her plate and she thought it was hers, then when she grab her English muffing another hair. When we talk to the waiter he just gave her another English muffing and let her with the same plate with the two hairs which he still charge us for $$$

It has a lot of great reviews but i didn’t care for the food nor the experience… Scrambled eggs where way to buttery… Pancake wasn’t hot… Sorry if it seems as if I was nit picking but … Waitress didn’t greet me just looked. I was confused with menu and she didn’t suggest anything… I was thristy got no refill on water. Didnt get to finish food. Just not good at all.

Worst service received by manager Christian Chavez and server Stephanie. Both failed to bring us coffee, yes, basic request to have coffee for our 45+ minute visit there. At the end when my wife complained, manager Christian says, «Stephanie is not our best server.» lol really? Are you kidding me? This is your answer to a complaint?

The wait times need to be improved upon, but the delicious food and quick order to table make up for it.

Very busy in the mornings, but overall the experience, menu variety and food itself has consistently been very good. Service is always solid, but expect there to be at least a little bit of a wait to get sat and the food to not be blazing fast. Still WAAAAY better than IHOP. Probably better than Cracker Barrel.

Decided on the egg & I bc last year it was delicious. This year I had hair in my eggs & every set of silverware was dirty, not just spotty but you could actually feel food on it. No hairnets. My hair was pulled back into a ponytail. Not very friendly waitress either. Will not be back. Silverware should not be dirty. The manager took off my breakfast only & was not friendly about it.

First off, this review would’ve been 5 stars but unfortunately the service was awful. This was my 2^nd time to the Egg & I and went to the one on 1604 & Bandera and I have a very pleasant experience. Today was not that great, even though the food was good, our waitress had an attitude and was not one bit attentive. She never came once to our table to check on things, I had to literally call her over. When she brought out or breakfast she quickly dropped off our plates and took off. We all ordered pancakes & Waffles and she did not bring us any syrup and when I had to ask for things she got annoyed. I will not come back to this location.

Of all the times I have been to the egg & I, this time tops the worst. Our waiter kept throwing our dishes around our table, and it was very close to falling on my lap. and for some reason he kept looking under our bags and kept touching my wife’s purse as if he was looking for something. And every time he came to order something, he always gave a bad expression as if he was displeased with what we were ordering. And the to top it all off, the food was completely horrible and the eggs are always undercooked or overcooked. This will be my last time I will ever order and waste my hard earned money on this restaurant. I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone

The eggs Benedict is ok it was Cold, and the potatoes were not cooked all the way they still had a crunch. staff stood around in the back having conversation, and mingling in a booth and who I thought to be The manager (because Her clothing was more professional and she went back-​and-​forth from the front to back of house. She periodically stopped and conversed with the compensated employees. I find it a little unprofessional since our booth was Close enough to hear conversation. In the end we paid about $ 30 for two. It’s definitely too pricey. Sorry but I think this place is a waste of time and money. I will never recommend or come here again

I really had to coach and educate the waitress on what gluten was… They have a «gluten friendly» menu and she interpreted (and was told by her manager) that it was a guide for those who want to reduce calories. I informed her on what Celiac Disease was and what we can/​cannot eat. I ordered the Garden Frittata with fruit and it was very tasty… I didn’t get sick and I’ll be back. You may have to educate a bit for gf, but it was worth it :)

When it comes to breakfast and lunch this is one of our favorite places to go. The food is good and reasonably priced. They will accommodate special requests. They offer a 15% military discount. Jillian, the manager is often out on the floor checking on the customers as well as on her staff. It is obvious that she cares and hires the right people, trains them, and keeps them motivated to take care of the customers. They offer a free meeting room with advanced coordination!
While all the servers are great we do have our favorites. Ashley, Samantha, Christian, Stephanie, Janelle, and Chavez always take good care of us.

I have always had good experiences at this location so we continue to give them our business. This morning however, I was not completely pleased with my visit. We sat for 45 minutes after ordering before we received our food. My turkey sausage was slightly burnt. On a positive note my eggs were awesome! My wfie and children’s food was also prepared properly so they were happy. Our server was very nice but a little busy because it took her a while to get to us after we received our food and requested salsa, hot sauce, etc. Ok visit but not my best experience here.

Waitress took forever to get our order when the restaurant was close to empty. Food came out cold. Asked manager for new food and she questioned if it was actually cold cause the plate was hot. Why would I lie about my food when im starving? I am ready to eat! Manager didn’t apologize or check up on new food and quality. However new food was hot and good. Will I come back? Possibly but too a different location.

Breckfast is great, but you have to get here befor 9am. The biscuits and sausage-​n– gravey are so savory melts in your mouth. Large omelets, fresh fruit and healthy options are available…

Food is subpar and cold. In short, I’m never coming back to this location.

Always our go to for breakfast before a road trip or on our way home from a night out.

It was good was seated and given a menu as soon as I walked in. The waitress was very friendly and knowledgeable and the food was good. The pancakes are 10 inches in diameter and they have alot of food option. Mainly with eggs as expected.

Waaaaaay better than IHOP the food was delicious and the service was Awesome sauce! Will be eating here again…

Jennifer and Stephanie very pleasant and friendly. I’ ll be back tommorrow, wish you were in Santa fe, NM. Food was great too. 5 star service

The wait once we were seated was a bit long but they staff was super sweet and apologetic and it completely made up for it. I ordered the veggie Benedict and a side of grits the Benedict was very good and the grits were fabulous! Not bland and perfectly buttered and salted!
My son ordered the pineapple coconut pancakes with vanilla cream. Omg. Heaven on a plate. Yum.

Tired of the nasty hotel breakfasts of left over food and kids screaming «not enough syrup, mamma!!!“if you’re near Seaworld or Lackland AFB get yourself over to the Egg and I. The best food I’ve had so far: the hollandaise is perfect on my Denver omelette and the potatoes are delicious, seasoned with something wonderful.
The coffee is good and robust, and that’s saying a lot coming from a Starbucks Seattle girl. The best part was Ashley, the waitress. Friendly, efficient and treats you like you’re important. Great personality.
Absolutely nothing to complain about.

Overall, this place was mediocre/​average. The food was good, the service was good, so we would definitely come back. I had the eggs benedict, the fiancé had the strawberry banana waffle, and our son had the chocolate chip pancake with bacon. 4 stars only because when we first walked in, all I smelt was a wet dog odor. Was a little grossed out by it.

One of my favorite breakfast restaurants! Although I eat here often, once in a while I get a dud meal. Today was that day. This location has usually been consistent with quality and service. Today my hikers Benedict had a «taste» of potatoes and a «taste» of veggies. Very disappointed today. I saw the manager making his rounds but didn’t make it to my table so I could let him know.
However, if you are in the mood for eggs Benedict, I do highly recommend the hikers Benedict! I have had eggs Benedict in many places and it’s not always that good but the Egg and I comes in at the top! I usually always leave with a full belly but sometimes the potatoes do come across scarce on your plate. Load that baby up!!! The place is always clean, hot food and quick, friendly service!

So I’ll start by saying I used to love this place. To my understanding each location is independently owned or something along those lines, but it seems that all my most recent visits (to different locations) have all been less than satisfactory. The pancakes are smaller, and the food is cold when they bring it out. My visit to this location, specifically, was the worst. We had a very nice young lady as our server, but the cooks and whatever was going on in the back ruined it for us.
Our food came out (it was cold), and out of the 4 of us who ordered pancakes, one was their normal size and the other 3 were significantly smaller. All I ordered was a single pancake, no sides or anything, and I was very disappointed. My pancake had green stuff… GREEN STUFF… cooked into it and smeared on the bottom of it. Talk about off-​putting. I showed the server, and even she looked disgusted by it. They totally messed up my mom’s order, and her pancake had green stuff as well, so the server took both of our plates back. By the time everyone else at our table was finishing, our food arrived. The server told us it was avocado on our pancakes. And well, dirty grills are the biggest no-​no in my book. She told us that she told the cooks they need to be more careful, which I appreciated. However, everyone had to wait on my mom and I to eat our food while they were already finished eating.
We weren’t offered any compensation, apology, or anything. Just a check. I used to love this place, but I don’t think I’ll be coming back.

Food was really good, not excellent but really good. except my Kids Mac-​n-​cheese, it was obviously reheated from either earlier in the day or the day before as it literally still had te shape of the container it was in before being reheated. I got a whole grain pancake and my wife egg Benedict, both were really good. Service was average, no complaints. I do like that they give you a carafe to refill your own drink. Would love to give a higher score but the Mac-​n-​cheese did it for me.

The food was pretty amazing. Their ranch potatoes are so yummy! Their menu had lots of options to choose from, which is always a major plus for me.
The service wasn’t extraordinary due to my glass being empty for about 10 minutes, but it was still pretty good due to my waitress being a complete sweetheart :)

Yesterday Stephanie served great food promptly & hovered discretely, anticipating refills & requests. Don’t know name of cook, but we gobbled up/​savored every bite. Delicious, & served with efficiency & a smile.

So, my cousin-​in-​law recommended this place for breakfast. I have never tried it before, but I was not impress with the portions. I ordered their french toast meal and was shocked to see that the meal cost $ 10. The server forgot my coffee and my cousin-in-law’s pancakes.
Also, the seating felt cramped! Fortunately, the three of us have normal BMI’s but for a person that does not, good luck trying to squeeze into the seats. Overall, if i am thinking breakfast, I will not be stopping at another egg and i. I rather deal with the busy wait times at other breakfast restaurants.

The food and atmosphere are great. There’s a wide variety of breakfast/​lunch entrees that should fit every type of eater. They have excellent healthy options (Vera Cruz Omelette is fantastic). There are plenty of good dessert style breakfast options too. And I’ve always liked whatever the soup of the day is.
My only real complaint is that the service is sloooooooow. And I generally have to make repeat requests for things (drink refills, condiments, etc) And getting seated can take a while (the food is great, so it gets packed quickly).
