I am so sad to say that Fatt Dog has closed. We used to love going to Fatt Dog before the movies and we’d usually sneak them in with us(shhhhhh) instead of not-so-appetizing movie theater hot dogs. Unfortunately, we won’t be able to do this anymore. We went to the movies this evening expecting to grab a hot dog beforehand but found it was closed, with a notice on the door.

Mmm… i love a good dog! I always order their Lemon Chicken. Their dogs are nice and juicy… with so much flavor packed in them. I only wish their dogs were as long as their bread. I always have bread left over and I just throw it away. Next time I want to try their tofu dog.

This is the second best hotdog I’ve tried after Slider’s in Westlake Mall moved to San Francisco. So delicious especially that it’s grilled! As of May 15, 2011, they increased their price 10%. Regular fatt dog used to cost $ 3.75. The price you pay for is worth it. it’s actually pretty big. Yummy bread and hotdog = very filling

I like their chicken apple sausages and chili fries. Their dogs are nice and juicy with alot of flavor. Only 5 chairs inside, but theres tables and chairs outside with the food court. The business is inside the mall, next to Century 20.

Pretty cheap and pretty good. They have a large variety of hot dog types(try the frankfurter) and condiments(try free grilled onions). Would have given 5 stars but I had to wait a couple of minutes before someone came from the back to take my order. Tofu dog is excellent.

Yum! Their hot dogs are definitely worth it. I’ve honestly been whining endlessly of how Tanforan is missing a «Hot Dog on a Stick» counter. But this place definitely makes up for it, if not better. I’ve always avoided trying the place since it’s so small. But I gave it a try when I was CRAZY hungry walking by the other day. They have quite an interesting selection of hot dogs. I chose the German Frankfurter and left it plain to add some spicy brown mustard later(the way I like it). However, you can choose to add on chili, cheese, or grilled onions — the grilled onions is the only free add-on. I thought their layout of the store was pretty innovative. The condiments are on the side of the store, which basically looks like counters with bucket holes, but it’s actually a pretty energy-efficient fridge. And there are drawers beneath the stove that have all of the sausages, buns, and various add-on toppings. They cut the sausage in half lengthwise, which I find weird, but it doesn’t change much of the hot dog and the sausage is incredibly flavourful. I cannot believe that I have never walked in before. I must come back to try their other hot dogs. By the way, the staff aren’t very pleasing. They don’t even greet you and definitely act as if they have no emotion. They almost seem unwilling to do their job, but they do it right anyways.

I’ve been pescatarian for two years and I honestly miss hot dogs. When I was at the Shops at Tanforan, this place caught my eye. Decided to check it out if they had vegetarian hot dogs. Success, they did! I got the meal which included fries and a drink. The hotdog was delicious. The only reason why I’m giving this place three stars is because the cashier was really rude. I asked her where I could get a sauce container and she basically yelled and pointed to the condiments area. Other than that, the food makes up for it. I would totally come back again, only if that rude cashier girl isn’t working.

A Top Dog clone with fries. About a buck more expensive than TD, but edible and if you’re in the mall and like a decent variety of sausages, worth a look. The menu isn’t as extensive as TD, but what they have is OK.

The only time we come here is when we are going to the movies and we want to grab something to eat before we head into the theater. I let the guys at the counter know we’re going into the movie theater and they will wrap it up for us and I can slip in into my big purse. No need for expensive(and gross) movie theater food =P I’ve only gotten a corn dog which is pretty good, but you can’t really mess one of those up and the french fries here are really good, they are like McDonald fries. but better ;)

I updated to 3 stars. I only ordered a hot dog, no fries no drink. I dropped a 20 and got back 14 and some change. I dropped the change in the tip jar. i dont want to argue over a hot dog so i updated to 3 stars. Below is the owners response. Hi Simon: This is a direct response from the owner of FATTDOG. You have your facts mixed up. All our Gormet Dogs are only 4 not 6 unless you got a drink or added chili and cheese to your dog which only adds a $ 1.25. We are the cheapest and the best in the mall. The theatres hot dogs cost 4.75. Signed The owner of Fatt Dog

I was hesitant trying this place out since I’m not a big fan of hot dogs from the mall. But surprisingly, I enjoyed it. I tried the lemon pepper chicken hot dog and it had a distinct tart/sour taste from the lemon and a spicy kick from the pepper. I liked how both flavors balanced each other out. I also liked how the bun was toasted which made the meal more enjoyable. The only downfall was the fries, they were thin and bland tasting.

Mall food tends to be kinda gross, but when i’m hungry, i’d eat just about anything. I always forget this place is in the mall since most of the food is on the lower level. Fries= REALLYGOOD. they’re probably typical frozen fries, but i don’t know, i like them. Bought the kids meal for like 4 dollars. For that price, there’s alot of food. I was expecting a smaller amount of fries but nope! Only the dog was smaller. Service gets an F for fantastic. No ice, he got me ice. No lid, he gave me a lid that wasn’t the right size then gave me tin foil. Always had a smile and was very polite and cute too! +love all the different condiments they have, including sauerkraut and onions mmm

Just tried their corn dog… Bad idea… for $ 3 ??? Nothing special sort of just like the store bought State Fair Corn Dogs from the freezer section of Lucky’s!!! I could have bought a box of 18 for $ 7… Save your money fellow Unilocalers and try something else from their menu…

Mall food has become an institution — Sbarro, Panda Express, Mongolian Grill, that place that serves salads that no one ever goes to. So, what to do when you’re sick of orange chicken with noodles and a side of breadsticks? I was caught in this conundrum while at Tanforan and wandered upstairs in the hopes of finding something different. Fatt Dog was definitely different. We got a Coney Dog with fries and two drinks for $ 8, which was pretty reasonable. The condiment bar had more than ketchup, mustard, and relish(sauerkraut was a definite plus). With the hotdog outfitted to my liking, I stepped out and found — no seating. So, back downstairs to find a table with the rest of the folks munching on their Filipino fried chicken. The hotdog was fine — I can’t really get very excited about it(just like I couldn’t really get excited about my first Chicago-style hotdog while in Chicago). The fries, on the other hand, were depressing. Yes, they definitely taste exactly like McDonald’s fries — which in my book is definitely not a positive. But, wait! There’s more! We waited for a long time before we could even order(no one was in front of us in line). Then, we waited for a long time before we got our food. They were definitely understaffed. This was a one-off for me – next time I’m looking for something different, I’ll have to try that salad place.

The Sonoma chicken and lemon hot dog sounded like a good idea at the time… and while it wasn’t horrible it really wasn’t that great either. Much smaller than expected, and not a whole lot of flavor. The one thing about Fatt Dog that I did appreciate was their condiment bar: not just your typical items like raw onions, relish, etc, but also pickled chili peppers, sour kraut, and various types of mustard. Conveniently located upstairs, right next door to the movie theatre.

I always crave hotdogs and this is the place me and my boyfriend go to fulfill my craving. Their fries taste so similar as the ones from McDonalds I love how they have different condiments for the hotdog especially mayo! I never knew how scrumptious a hotdog is with some mayo, ketchup, and onions. The hotdog is pretty small but it fills you up.

Eh. Im very picky about people using their bare hands to cook my food, esp right after theyve collected my money. For $ 4 i expect something bigger and comes with a drink. Ive been spoiled by costco’s polish dog with a drink for $ 1.50. I got the Lemon Chicken, small, big buns, but if it werent for the onions and ketchup i added, i dont think it wouldve been that great…

This place is located next to the theatre. Small place with 1 or 2 stools, but places to sit out in the front. Nothing over the top, however I was pleased with my Lemon Chicken Dog w/chili and a side of chips. I passed on the fries(gasp). I got my food quickly, thought the prices were reasonable and thought the meal overall was ok. Decent place to grab a snack while shopping or before/after a movie. Note: My hot dog wasn’t cut. I do find that odd if they did do that.

First of all… not to bag on this place. 1. Nice, clean Hot Dog Stand. 2. I like the concept and food is moderately priced. 3. Food is turned around even quickly though they fry the hot dog on the spot. Now the Not so Good: 1. Like getting a drivers license, there are some automatic failures. 2. The number one failure here is that I ordered a hot dog the other day and the cook CUTTHEHOTDOGINHALF(Buterfly)!!! NO! NO! NO!!! NEVEREVERBUTTERFLY A HOTDOGINHALF! NEVER returning until this process changes.

i like fatt dog. this is the only food spot in the mall worth going to aside from BJ’s. i havent been to the one in berekely yet. but the people here are really nice! i love their strawberry lemonade and their chilli cheese fries. their gourmet dogs are pretty good too! i like their chicken apple one. however, the last time i was there i ordered a corndog. i was a bit disappointed when i found out they didnt make their own corndogs. foster farms makes it! hahah. and they sell them for like $ 3 a pop! BoOoOo! i had higher expections. but their food is pretty good. 4 stars cuz i like the food and service
