Art on 30th

This is a newer gallery space in the North Park area. I follow the work of Kris Finch and was thrilled to find out that he was teaching classes here! The gallery is really a great space for learning, it is a modernized industrial building with a very hip vibe. There are plenty of easels, tables and chairs, and the class sizes are not overwhelming, you really get some great one on one time with some very talented artists at the classes here. I also find it incredibly inspiring to go upstairs and see the work of all of the other artists working in the rented studio spaces. The studio spaces are a really cool idea, especially if you are working on pieces of artwork that are difficult to execute in your home. The best part, if you are taking a class here, there is a parking lot in the back (you enter in the alley). This is so great, because sometimes parking in North Park can be tricky. Oh, and the gallery shows they have here are really fun, I believe their website makes regular postings for when the next show will be.

Such a nice gallery with very creative shows. I take art classes here with Kris Finch and really enjoy them. The space is big with studios upstairs. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Great place!

I checked out one of Kris Finch’s portrait-​painting videos on YouTube and decided he looked like the instructor for me (representational art, yay!). I started taking his oil painting classes a little over a year ago. Suffice it to say, I’ve continued to sign up with each new session because Kris is such a wonderful teacher! In fact, he has acquired a devoted group of us students who enjoy his instruction so much that we continue to sign up class-after-class…a real testament to his skill.
He is a tremendously talented artist as well as teacher… his work is really beautiful! We’ve often commented in class that it’s such a relief when Kris offers to take a seat in front of our paintings when we’re «stuck» because he can always fix it with a few well-​placed brushstrokes and/​or corrected color and set us back on track.
Kris is adept at teaching at any skill-​level in both drawing and oil painting disciplines. Beginners and more experienced students of any age will benefit from taking lessons from him. Plus he’s a super-​nice guy — no attitude :) — just patient and great to work with!
