Came down from Anaheim to watch the Penguin playoff hockey game. Had a great time Felt like we knew everyone. The staff was very friendly. We had Chicken Strips and Fries which were fantastic. We decided to stay in the area and visit SeaWorld and come back on Sunday to watch game 6 of the hockey playoff game. This is a Pitts sports bar, can always find a football. baseball or my favorite HOCKEY fan here. They had 16 TVs going so you always saw the action. This time we had the famous grilled wings. They were very good and you could choose from about 8 sauces. They have board games you can play also. The place was packed and atmosphere awesome. We watched the Penguins WINTHESTANLEYCUP with a free beer for everyone when they did.!! We will definitely come back. Great experience… GOPENGUINS.!!

It is only fair that I update these when I have a different(and in this case-better) experience. I’ve always had a good time at the down town place, and a few weeks ago I found myself being«forced» to return to Bub’s at the Beach. I had friends that were already encamped here, and were not inclined to relocate(I did ask). So I joined them, and had a really good time. I got beer recommendations, had a couple beverages that were well-made and served cheerily. I had a conversation with the bouncers about the merch(the cooks/bouncers had AWESOME hats, but they were sold out :(), and generally just had a good time. The biggest difference was the attitude. At one point, one of the bartenders was a bit swamped and she stopped, said«I’m working on a few drinks for these guys down here, but I’ll be right with you!» A simple courtesy, but makes all the difference in the world! Obviously management can have a big impact and it is my understanding that the new management is focusing on improving customer service– it seems like it is working. This place has a great location, good food deals, cheap drinks, and cool games. If they can continue to make strides in customer service I think they may win back some of us! Keep up the good work!

Sad to say my first time here started off terribly. I’m new to San Diego and I don’t live in PB. I came here with my boyfriend to meet my coworker for dinner. I was running 30 minutes late and she was waiting for me. I walked in and quickly headed towards the back where she told me she was seated. I find my friend and turn around to look for my boyfriend behind me when some short guy out of nowhere yells at me to go stand at the door. says he needs to check my ID but he walked away? so I went and stood back at the door with my boyfriend(We are 26 and its 5:30pm). He came back to us and I apologized nicely while handing him my(OFAGE) identification, stating it was my first time here and didn’t know. Then in the most asshole tone he says«yeah well most places have someone at the door, so…» I’m sorry. But where I have lived there aren’t any bouncers at the doors of restaurants until 9pm. It’s 5:30pm on a week night and there was a table there seated with a child. He was not standing at the door when I walked in and he didn’t have to be a so effing RUDE about it. the wings were great but I won’t be coming here again because the SMALLDOORMAN was THEBIGGESTDOUCHE.

Literally the worst bar I have ever been to in my life. I had to listen and watch the bachelorette in full blast instead of any sort of music or other entertainment. Kill me now.

It is what it is, for bar food it’s pretty good. Above average. Ate wings the day after Wing Wed. pretty sure they were left over because they tasted weird. Everyone in the office thought the same. We prob won’t be getting lunch there soon. I’ve had the steak sandwich which was pretty good. The staff had good synergy. I enjoy getting drunk here. Last time, there was a weird guy who came over, wouldn’t leave us alone and ate all of our chips. He tried to follow us to Duck Dive but we managed to lose him. I guess security could be better late night.

Ugh! Will never ever return. This is like a really bad Hooter’s(I am actually a former Hooter’s girl and still a big fan of the chain). While our waitress was nice(but hella slow) the remainder of the staff, especially the front door was absolutely horrid. I think this may be one of the most rude places I’ve been to in San Diego. And for what? Bad food, stupid rules(if you over order on their wing night your only options are to stuff yourself and finish or throw the food away, how stupid is that with all the homeless, starving people in the world that they THROWFOODAWAY and not let you take it home) and an offensive staff. The wings are pretty soggy, and the sauces are alright but not amazing. The dry rubs are pretty salty. I also had a salad that wasn’t very good and onion rings which were okay but those are hard to mess up. The place isn’t very clean and truly isn’t enjoyable. Again, the worst part outside of the rude staff? The service is s u p e r S L O W.

Bub’s is one of my favorite casual/laid back bars in San Diego. They are located right on Garnet Ave. amongst all the other bars in Pacific Beach. My friends and I go to Bub’s when we’re looking for a chill scene, good wings, to watch games, play games, or just relax. If you want wings — I recommend going Wednesday’s for their special, or during any of their happy hours. If you want cheaper beer — go during happy hour when they have $ off beer. If you want Moscow mules — come here because they’re delicious, but a little pricey. It’s cool because they have games you can check out, like connect four. They have giant jenga sets you can play. As well as tons of peanuts you can eat and literally put the shells on the floor. I love coming to Bub’s for appetizers or wings and beer.

My friend insisted on coming here for their 25 cent wing Wednesdays. While the price seems like an awesome deal, you really get what you pay for. I was unimpressed with their wings even after all the different flavors they offer. We tried their honey mustard, mango habanero, garlic parmesan, thai peanut and lemon pepper. All their wings are BBQ grilled and then slathered with the different sauces, but after awhile the flavors weren’t really distinguishable. They all started tasting almost the same and some of the meat had a little red closer to the bones… gross. If you prefer dry rub or fried wings like myself, this is not the place to go. The fries and beer were probably the best thing I had. I will definitely pay more elsewhere for a better quality meal.

Sunday Funday brought us to Bub’s for their Bloody Mary bar! They bring you a glass of ice and vodka and then you head over to the bar to build and garnish your own drink. Bacon, pickles, peppers, celery, hot sauce, olives, salt and pepper and so much more! For $ 7, it’s a great deal. The only thing that would make it better is if it were bottomless! We got some tator tots that were perfectly crunchy and good for $ 5. And then we got the bacon flight($ 7). 4 pieces of bacon with 4 different flavors on a wooden pig board! The bacon was ok… frankly the bacon on the Bloody Mary bar was better, but it was fun and the presentation was killer! Great sports bar. Big garage doors for fresh air. Great happy hour. Cons: Our waitress wasn’t very attentive. Street parking can be tough. One piece of our bacon flight was all fat :/but they did replace it with a better piece for us. Great spot in PB overall. #sandiegofoodgirls

Bub’s got the wings ! And it ain’t skinny. These juicy, tender backyard BBQ charred in all the right places make them a fierce competition. I enjoyed the Thai Sweet Chili and the Honey mustard wings. Bub’s also hosts a special Monday’s «Bae-sic Mondays Bachelor night» where they host with surround city the reality hit show the Bachelor with wine and food specials. Thought I’d come by and check it out since it’s one of a kind. People watch from their home and there ain’t no gatherings for us reality-romance shows and addicts Iike us. One can dream of a fantasy land can’t they? Bub’s .I commend you for putting on a great event for the Bachelor ! They had prizes, games, and every TV on the Bachelor. You rock. Service was above normal for a bar. Unexpected ! Hayley is the perfect server. She deserves the best compliments. I kept saying«you’re awesome«to her because she is just perfect. She is an expert at what she does — went above and beyond. Kind, friendly bubbly … But that doesn’t stop there. She above and beyond and shared tips about the food menu, offered suggestions and let us know each step along the way — «food is coming«- and checked in several times. On top of that, she anticipated when drinks would be out and asked us if we wanted another before we could even think to ask her. Ranch was extra and I appreciated her letting me know it would be 50 cents more before just throwing it on the bill like a weird Christmas surprise. Thank you Hayley, you are great at what you do ! I also got to try the Tator tots and burger(with bacon and egg). My only gripe was that the burger was not cooked medium like we had anticipated as we agreed to medium — it was pretty much well done. And although the sour cream on the side for the tots was delicious, I think it would fare better with a liquid type of sour cream vs. a hard type where you could barely dip in. Same with the cheese, would be yummy fantastic with melted liquid cheese vs sprinkled cheese on top. Would add more flavor and cheese in every bite. Prices are always a bit on the weeee expensive side for bar food, though they have lots of specials everyday of the week. Will definitely be back !

I am appalled to see that Bub’s only has 3.5 stars. This place is delicious! I came here on Wednesday with a group of friends and we had a fantastic time. Between the 6 of us we finished 72 wings. All the flavors are bomb but the Carolina Gold and the Archie were my favorites! Now, at most restaurants, wings take forever to come out but at Bub’s we ordered and before I knew it, plates of wings were on our table. The wings are tender and drenched in sauce. Your hands will definitely not be clean afterwards. I am a beer fanatic and the draft selection is excellent. You have to try the Peanut Butter Milk Stout Nitro. I’m usually a Pale Ale/Pilsner type of girl but this particular stout was creamy and delicious. If you’re into IPAs like my friends, they all loved Le Freak from Green Flash. Pitchers are around 14 dollars depending on what you order so if you have a big group like mine, a pitcher will be a big money saver. At the end of the night, we ordered 2 pitchers and each had two additional 16 oz glasses. I have never been to a bar that had delicious food and tasty beer. The music will also be nostalgic if you’re into old hip hop and RnB. They were playing Akon and Eminem which were so fun to grove and sing along to. Brought me back to my high school days. I will definitely be back again!

Sitting at the bar at Bubs is just as you would expect, busy and loud! Many different beers on draft and any well drink at your beckon call! But head out there for Wing Wednesday and get a basketful for just $ 5. They won’t disappoint, with some unique flavors like Hawaiian Plum and Archie! I had to be different and ordered the ½-lb burger with mushrooms and Swiss cheese. If you order the burger that way, shouldn’t they leave out the lettuce and tomato??? It was served with a side of crispy tater tots! Guilty pleasures…

Wing Wednesday is the time to go. If you hit it right, $.25 wings and the happy hour gets you $ 2.50 bud lights. I’ve tried quite a few different sauces over my visits — the only one I did t really care for was the spicy teriyaki. Oh, another thing I wish they did was put more then one skinny celery stick out with each order.

One of the best Wing Wednesday places in San Diego! Came in at 2:30 for the 25 cent wings and was certainly not disappointed. The wings were big and juicy, an absolute steal for 50 cents let alone 25. The Carolina Gold wings were the best of the bunch. I also enjoyed the service and the atmosphere. Parking is always tough in the PB area so try to come at an odd hour for quick service!

My wife and I were staying at Mission Beach and decided to go out and find the Vikings game in a Sports Bar on Pacific Beach, We took the mile and a half walk up north to Garnet and came to this awesome restaurant Tons of TVs and an awesome beer selection. I ordered an Apocalypse IPA from 10 Barrel Brewing from Bend. OR. Delish. For food, I got the veggie burger, but it was homemade and amazing! Super nice servers too. The salad on the side was good sized and tons of toppings. I always hate when they give you a crummy side salad as your side, but this was top notch. We left at half time to watch the game back at home, but the lunch was phenom!

If you are a Steelers fan, this place is an absolute must on game days. Me and my friend were in town for the weekend and we wanted a place to watch the game, Bub’s did not disappoint. Neither of us live in Pittsburgh currently, but it felt like we were back home in Da Burgh! It was the perfect crowd and everyone was cheering and chanting the whole game(they also won which made the crowd even more fun). They had a Bloody Mary bar which my friend did, and it had all the fixens. Good bloody mix too. I started off with a mimosa and they did not skimp on the champagne. Had a great selection of beer too. They give you free peanuts which is always good drinking food. We also split an order of the wings. I had never had grilled wings before and I had no idea what I was missing. Such a good flavor! The service was also great. Our server was always on getting new drinks and food to everyone, which was impressive for how busy it was. Thanks for the great time Bub’s!

The first place I wanted to go eat when I turned the big 2 – 1 was easily Bubs! I’m not even a huge fan of chicken wings that aren’t boneless, but Bub’s has definitely converted me. Make sure to go on Wednesdays because each wing is only 50 cents with a drink purchase! And before 4PM, they’re 25 cents! It’s such a great deal for such plump wings. I’m not about those scrawny, skinny little chicken wings, so Bub’s is perfect for people like me who like their wings meaty and juicy. They have a wide array of flavors with my personal favorites being the Spicy Teriyaki, Carolina Gold, and Buffalo. I highly recommend Bub’s if you’re looking for amazing wings in Pacific Beach with a laidback atmosphere. The interior is a bit dark, but there are several TV’s placed around the bar as well.

Bub’s thrives on their dive bar image. It’s messy, crowded, and all around dive-y. Sadly, I’m not terribly impressed by this or their wings, either. This review is just for Wing Wednesday. They changed their Wing Wednesday specials, much to my dismay. It’s now $ 0.25/wing from 11 – 4 and $ 0.50/wing from 4-close. You need to order a drink to get the special price, which is odd to me. The service can be slow and it’s hard to flag down a waiter if you come after 6 on Wednesday. It’s like pulling teeth just to find an empty seat(it’s self-seating) and it’s def a mission if there are more than 2 of you in your party. Tbh these wings are not worth $ 0.50, when you consider the poor service and sheer crowd here on Wednesday nights. They’re supposed to provide peanuts that you can chuck the shell onto the floor; they really emphasize the«dive bar» experience. But they aren’t always consistent about having peanuts stocked at the tables. Wings are pretty decent but a couple of mine had some light pink pieces(perfectly fine) but I just don’t like seeing it that pink. Wing size is average. I tried the BBQ and Archie(buffalo+honey mustard) sauces and they were fine, but not much to write home about. I preferred the BBQ to the Archie. Overall, Bub’s isn’t worth it for wings except on Wednesdays before 4. They do have some great drink specials from 4 – 7($ 4 pint for the beer of the month!), so happy hour is nice. However, Dirty Birds a few streets down far exceeds the quality, size, and flavor of Bub’s wings. They have their wing special on Tuesdays and I believe it’s the same price as Bub’s. I’d choose Dirty Birds over Bub’s any day.

Wing a Ding Ding! This place was right up my street — it had it all: Beers, games and you’ve guessed it, Wings! Loved this place — probably the best wings I have had on my whole trip — and trust me I’ve had my fair share of wings this last few weeks. The bar itself was really laid back and cool — pretty much what you’d expect from a beach shack. The staff were great too — as soon as we walked in we felt welcome and we were offered a beer every time our glasses got ¾ of the way down!
