Steak and potatoes, steak and potatoes, steak and potatoes I can not say it enough how much this place nails this. Great family style dining, cool little bar area pretty much a solid every time we’ve been here. Also cool little booths towards the back with rad Spanish style roofing.

Been here twice and both times has hit the mark with excellent food, great service, and a variety of beer and drink choices. It can get busy on holidays and prime hours of the weekend, but they do use open table. A nice plus for sports fans is that they have many TV’s with several game options.

According to my hubby we had been here before. I honestly couldn’t remember coming here. Parking lot is super cramped with a lot of people trying to get in. On a Friday night at 7 ish the wait wasn’t too bad, but once we were seated it was almost 15 minutes before our server came to take our orders. I ordered the 7 Oz sirloin with side salad and broccoli, while my husband ordered an 11 Oz prime rib… the server said that the prime rib was the best in the area, but when my hubby cut me off a small piece to taste it seemed to me that it was unseasoned and pretty much tasted like meat… that is all. The Mashed potatoes he got were just that. Potatoes that had been mashed. There was no garlic, no seasoning of any kind. As for my sirloin? It was over cooked and flavorless. And the broccoli stunk and tasted, well gross. When it first arrived at the table I thought it smelled like fish. I will have to say the side salad was pretty good! It was a decent size and a pretty good mix of greens.

I had a dinner at Bullys East back in July. It was everything I expected. I live in LA but sometimes drive to SD just for Bullys. Always great!

I just came to Bully’s East after not visiting this place in over 20 years. The moment I came in I was welcomed by the staff and they were very friendly. Our server Nicole(I call her Stella) did an outstanding job in accommodating us. She deserves absolute Kudos for a job well done. The place is clean and many old timers come here which is great! The happy hour Burger Beer and Fries special was absolutely amazing. For $ 10 bucks, it’s well worth coming back! Thanks Stella!!!

To the owner of Bully’s East: Rather than flame you on Unilocal I wanted to contact you directly buy it says«This business hasn’t been checking their messages recently» on the«message the business» window. First, why don’t you have an email address on your website so you can direct feedback with your customers? I ate in your bar recently and I wanted to enjoy myself but the old, stinky carpet odor was disgusting!!! I am not ever coming back again until you replace it. Secondly, the prime rib was a poor quality with huge globules of fat. Lastly, the horseradish crust was a joke, more like bread crumbs sprinkled on top. No crust. Very little horseradish at all. In the interest of saying something of positive, the Thursday Wine Therapy was a great deal and very reasonable. My wife really liked the corn. You can do a lot better if you cared, but it seems you don’t.

Old fashioned steak place, dark, leathery place, but casual atmosphere. there’s a long bar were you can watch sport on all sides. Steaks is always good I always order T-bone and cocktails are killers, they also serve local craft beers. Friendly atmosphere. On Saturday and Sunday they have«Gameday» Breakfast for $ 7 — includes 2 egg any style, country potatoes or harsh browns, ham, bacon or sausage and choice of French Toast or pancakes.

Good people. Fairly nice food. Bar looks great. But for being in San Diego it has a crappy beer selection.

Bully’s East is a San Diego institution. If you haven’t had the chance, don’t wait any longer. The best thing on the menu is the prime rib. Another personal favorite is the Caesar salad. And I’ve had more then my share of Bully’s burger’s over the years. For a little extra, you can get your Bully Burger with a baked potato. Add the Caesar salad and you’ll never make it to the mud pie dessert. This place gets busy, the parking lot fills quickly, so best not to hit Bully’s without a reservation during prime time dining. Service is hit and miss, but the food’s worth putting up with food servers that always seem as if they’re under staffed.

Had the prime rib melt. Pretty good. The fries were huge and crispy! The place def had a 70s vibe… very old school. Gonna have to come back for a burger sometime! $ 10 for a burger, beer, and fries every Monday!

This place lost two stars for the following reasons: 1) it took forever for the hostess to seat us and the party ahead of us, even when there was an empty room with unoccupied tables. Literally sat there for 15 minutes eyeing the empty tables and the hostess. 2) overpriced. $ 30 for a rack of dry, mediocre ribs? Better off going to Phils(cheaper and tastes better) or any other BBQ joint. Other than that. The horseradish crusted prime rib makes this place worth going to. Shit is fire. Also, for appetizers, the panko shrimp! But I think it’s only part of the sampler platter and only includes two pieces. it was perfect though. That is all… Don’t get the ribs. Also, don’t get the mashed potatoes. It’d flavorless and mediocre af. Better off with other sides

Very accommodating, they changed the channel on the TV for us after the chargers game. I had the Bacon wrapped meatloaf. Very good. Wife had the salmon(she shared it with me) fresh and moist. Our party of 8 were all satisfied with pricing, food size and quality and service by Jeannie. Will definitely make it here again for post game gathering.

This place is becoming one of our«go to» places for burgers. The Bully Burger with Swiss($ 1 extra) and sautéed Mushrooms($ 1 extra) is excellent. Choice of two sides. I chose Steak Fries and a Dinner Salad. I asked for the Blue Cheese dressing. The San Diego Burger is excellent too… and it also comes with 2 sides. I have had that one before. It comes with Carnitas piled on top of the beef patty, and is topped with sautéed onions, a fried Jalapeño, grilled provolone cilantro-lime mayo, and the usual lettuce and tomato. Very good, but since I can’t do peppers, he got the Jalapeño. He had the Sauerbraten plate with two sides. He was impressed with the Sauerbraten, and would have it again. He asked for Caesar dressing for his side salad. Know if you want Caesar dressing with your Dinner Salad they will charge you $ 3 extra. Kinda pricey for the usual blob of dressing, so in the future, he’ll choose something else. The waitress did not tell us at the time of ordering, and it does show it on the menu I think. So just a heads up. Looking at some of the other plates being delivered to the tables near us, the Prime Rib looks great. We want to try their breakfasts too as we’ve heard they are pretty good. The lighting is pretty low inside in some spots and it’s not always easy to get clear pics of the food. Nice for a romantic meal. Not a complaint, just an observation. Also a great place for a business lunch. Just make sure it’s at a better lit table/booth if you are having to read any paperwork before signing documents. It’s usually packed when we’ve been there and it may take a few times around the private parking lot to find a suitable spot. Wait service can be a slow at busier times or if there are large groups present. Which was the case when we went for a business lunch(just three of us). It took two hours from start to finish. It actually worked out for us though, because it gave us time to get our paperwork out of the way. On a day where we were simply coming for a meal, that would have been off-putting. But so far so good.

We just had a great Prime Rib dinner tonight at Bully’s. It’s a wonderful dimly lit steakhouse. It has big leather booths and a such cozy atmosphere. We started out with drinks and Calamari which was nice and crispy. They bring marble bread also. My husband ordered a Horseradish crusted Prime Rib with a Caesar salad and almonds toasted green beans. I ordered a regular Prime Rib with a wedge salad and broccoli. Both the prime Ribs were as good as we have ever had. Because we were there early they were on the early bird dinner for $ 20.00 It’s 3.95 extra for the wedge or the Caesar salad. There is no extra for the regular salad. The service and the food could not be any better. Our waitress was fantastic. You have to save room for the cheesecake. It’s amazing. If you want a great Prime Rib dinner go to Bully’s. You will be glad you did.

Good service, ok food. Ordered the French Dip sandwich a house salad and spicy potato soup. The soup and salad were very good but the roast beef was extremely salty(yuck) made it impossible to dip because that too was very salty, I expected better from a steak house. Need to clean up more too, there was food(fries, bread & lettuce) under the table where we were seated.

I’ve been here a few times, and the food is excellent. I get the prime rib every time, and recently decided to celebrate my birthday here just last week. However, our service experience was really bad, and may have even approached criminal activity by our waitress. We had a group of 8 people, and paid our bill by splitting the tab with 4 cards and cash, with 3 cards paying a set amount, the cash going toward the bill, and the rest on the 4th card. When the waitress returned she had written in a tip on each charged card herself(even though the gratuity was already included in the overall bill), effectively doubling her tip; and she overcharged the 4th card twice the amount due. When questioned about the issues with the bill, the waitress got defensive and said she had worked there for 6 years and didn’t see a problem. We finally just decided to sign the checks and leave. The next day the owner of the 4th card discovered that her card had been charged not just twice, but had been charged with tabs from other tables as well, with a total amount of money of over $ 500 that was not just pending, but was actually charged. After calling the manager at Bully’s East, everything was eventually straightened out with the overcharges, and we were told that the waitress in question had been fired. However, there was no offer of repayment for the over-charged tips, which a waitress is not allowed to do, and there was not even an offer of gift cards for a free meal after having to deal with the terrible customer service. I’ve had really great experiences there before, and I love the food, which is why I chose to celebrate my birthday there with my family and friends. However, when a waitress pulls that kind of act, the restaurant should do something to make it right. I am still shocked that the 4th card owner was not offered some kind of gift for having to spend the time and effort to correct a situation that never should have happened. I may not go back to this spot because of this experience.

I literally just left there. Didn’t get to finish my meal as I had to get back to work. It took ten minutes to have someone ask if we wanted water. Before the waitress tried to walk away we hurried and placed our order since we had actually viewed the menu before deciding to go there. Also, because it took ten minutes for someone to ask if we wanted water. I ordered a calamari sandwich with a side of soup and salad. The soup was brought out ten min later with the salad following ten minutes after that. By 1:20 we had been there for about 40 min with no sign of our entrees arriving any time soon. Finally our sandwiches arrived, but we had to head back to work. So we had to ask for boxes and the check. No apology was made when we mentioned we had to hurry back to work because everything took so long. The place was not that busy. I have worked in the restaurant industry so I know busy. That was not it. I wasn’t impressed with the service and the food was decent at best. We now know not to go there. I assume a restaurant in the middle of businesses would be quick at serving lunch knowing that people have to get back to work. That was not the case. If you have five hours for lunch you’d probably like it. I don’t have that much time for any meal right now. But also the food was meh. Nothing I would recommend to a friend as a must try. Ambience was suited for an older generation. Though I’m not sure even my grandparents would have been patient with the quality of service.

So, apologies in advance, but the lighting is low in the restaurant, and my pics turned out blurry or unappetizing… I’m trying to get better, I swear, lol! Made reso’s for 9:00 am, when they open, so we wouldn’t get stuck waiting if there was a rush. They didn’t let people in until 9:10, so that is part of the reason for four stars, because it was mostly a five star experience. I had the«nooner and eggs». The«nooner» being a 6 oz teriyaki marinated skirt steak, that defined DEELISCIOUS, and the eggs were scrambled perfectly, fluffy and I asked for a slice of American cheese on the top and that was no problemo. The rye toast was thick and came cut in half in a nice bread basket. The only part that I wasn’t completely happy with was that I had asked for my potatoes to be extra crispy, and they weren’t. They were cooked with onions and peppers and really tasty, but not even a little crispy. My beauty had the Bavarian Cream stuffed French Toast and she ate every last bit of it, topped with strawberries and bananas… and she said it was as good as it sounded. I had a couple of their Champagne Cosmo’s and she had a couple Peach Bellini’s. They have(I think) a progressive Mimosa on Saturday’s where if you start at 9:00 am, they are a buck, a lowly BUCK!!! Our server Haley was really sweet and attentive, made sure we were happy maybe 3 – 4 times. By the time we left around 10:00 am, the place was getting pretty busy. Gotta say, have been to Bully’s East maybe ½ dozen times, and always had a great meal and good cocktails there but, only had breakfast/brunch there once before and it didn’t WOW me like it did this time. Bully’s East is going on my short list of preferred brunch spots.

So I went here for date night and I have to say when I walked inside I was thinking to myself what have I brought my gf to. It’s dimly lit and there is a feeling like this is a cross between a dive bar and a tackle shop. Not to fear though — once you get seated, those feelings subside. Let me back up for a minute. Parking is atrocious! Don’t even think about parking in the main lot because it’s tight and the likelihood of there being a parking spot is on par with me hooking up with a Supermodel. Basically, not happening. Right next door, there is a parking lot that can be used as overflow if it’s after 6pm. That lot has a lot of room and is easy to get in and out of, so don’t waste your time parking anywhere else. Now onto the food. WTF… WTF…WTF…this prime rib is seriously off the hizzle… OMG…It literally melted in my mouth. So delicious — I wish I ordered one to go. Really moist and flavorful and cooked perfect! With the prime rib, or any of the meats for that matter, you get 2 sides. I got mashed potatoes and upgraded to the Wedge Salad for $ 3.25 — which was big enough for my gf and I to share. Our server was amazing and everyone in there generally seemed to be really happy and polite and helpful! We were in a hurry, so I didn’t get a chance to sample the dessert menu but I’ll be headed back there for sure!

I was en route to a New Kids on the Block show at SDSU and pit-stopped here for some pre-show BLOCKtails with my date. The concert was her treat but I don’t mind losing a few man-points: NKOTB was, is, and will always be LEGIT! Speaking of legit, Wuk the bartender is the funniest man you will meet in years. He is Magnum P.I.‘s lost sidekick on ritalin. I want to live vicariously thru his contagiously jovial spirit so that I too can attain nirvana. Just warm him up a bit conversationally and yer off and running. The fact that the bar’s décor hasn’t changed since Magnum P.I. was on primetime TV makes it even easier to jump into character. Oh yeah. Dan Fouts used to get sauced here post-game. It all makes sense now. Ok the drinks: Berry Mule for her, Melon Jalapeño Mule for me. Both slid down the bar to us in those delightfully lip-freezing copper mugs. Berry tastes like the evil Kool-Aid. U can barely taste the booze, but that don’t mean it ain’t there. My Melon Mule was Evil Tropical Capri Sun with a sting. So good you could rape me if I had about 5. Kung Pao chicken wings: It’s Kung Pao chicken… on Hulk Hogan’s steroids. But u gotta love Kung Pao Chicken to begin with or it won’t jibe. Served with some really tasty toasted brussell sprouts type shiz. Wuk is the type of bar man that will make u glad to put an extra $ 5 cash on top of your tip. Do this and you will be handsomely rewarded. I don’t want to give the secret away just yet… but if you’re there on a Monday evening he should be too.
