My boyfriend and I love teppan and wanted to treat ourselves to a nice anniversary dinner while in San Diego staying at a nearby hotel. We were pretty disappointed. The chef was really nice, but he didn’t season anything… like everything was fresh and good, but so bland. He also would give the first part of the table way more veggies than the other side when he realized he gave the first few people too much. So, we paid for the same amount and seriously got like a forth of the veggies they did. It happened with the other food items too, but not as severely.

This place is ridiculous!!! We made a reservation for 7:15 for 6 people. Just because one of our friends was running late they wouldn’t seat us. I guess that’s their policy. So we missed our reservation even tho my friend came at 7:20. So we told them that our party is all here. And they said its 15 more min to wait. So we said okay that’s fine. Then after 15 min we go and ask if our table is ready and they said«oh your party is all here now?» It’s like really we already told you that!!! And then they said we would have to wait ANOTHER20 – 30 min for a table and then he said«if you want you can leave» !!! HOWRUDE!!! BY the way the manager was the one dealing with checking people in and out and talking to us. He was obviously no help. Never coming here again!!!

Food was pretty good but the sushi portions are deceiving in the pictures. We got an awesome roll called the JOLLYPOP but disappointed that we only received 5 pieces for $ 12.5 isn’t even an even number to share with someone. Anyways it’s good but other sushi steakhouses are better.

Stayed at Hilton nearby so had dinner here. My sister loves Japanese food but she is quiet disappointed here. I told her that this restaurant does not have a great rating with not much reviews and at the end she said I will only give a 3 star as well. I am not a sushi expert so she makes the call: good or bad. We ordered a roll, she said something wrong with the rice.(Ps: she came from Sydney for a vacation), she said any sushi street store in Sydney even by the subway is better than this. She said the rice is way too wet and sticky. Then there is the bento box. She said the teriyaki was not bad and the vegetable stir fried is really well done. And there is a fried rice… my brother in law is eating it. I ask him how is the rice? He said: I am always very polite and respect the food other people made for me. So… I am not gona say anything… I asked him again: it’s ok, just inside the family, what you think? He said: you want honest opinion? Lend me the kitchen and all ingredient! I can make a better fried rice. This one fails. The wait time is really really really long… for bento box and fried rice… but this place is amazing… with this type of food and rating… it is very busy. So I think we must didn’t pick the right dish. There must be something good here!!! Oh well, maybe next time to San Diego…

My SIL and I took my sister there for her birthday and this is my first time there. Got there 30 mins before closing time, and was greeted by whether we wanted a regular table or sit at the grill and whether we knew what we wanted because they were closing in 30. I should have listened to the warning bells in my head, but wanted to give them a chance.(Even if 1 more customer walked in, let alone 3, thats more $ for you/restaurant(total bill came up to $ 80, and we were there just under an hour) Once seated, our waitress took our drink order & our meal order. Our sushi came out before the appetizers of fried shrimp /veggies. One of the rolls came with ponzu sauce, which was brought out by a different waitress, but there was a piece of hair in it, so we asked tried to ask her to come back to the table so we could ask for another one. But she refused to stop back, made us wait while she walked around & pretended to touch things like she was working at other areas and she finally sent our waitress over?! Really? You are that petty that you cannot help a fellow waitress, when you brought out food at her table already? Our waitress came by, took the sauce & said sorry and that was it, no management came out to check on us, to ask if everything is ok. The sushi was so, so, and fir the price, disappointed. I expected fancy looking/tasting rolls… The last thing… The bathroom SMELLS like sewer/badly taken care of! It doesn’t matter how good your food is, if you neglect your bathroom, I cant even imagine your kitchen! Def, not come back!

They were short a cook went as a big group for a birthday. Had a reservation for two combined tables. One table was finished eating before the second cook came out for the second half of group 45 minutes later. The staff was great but management did nothing for the inconvenience. Food was on the low scale of quality but cooked good. Don’t recommend the tuna bad cut of fish. Not one to complain and easy to please. If your one for a quality restaurant experience go elsewhere.

I’m a loyal Fuji customer, but my experience there tonight changed my mind about returning We got there with a party of 12. One group of 6 got their food first while we waited for 45 minutes until we got ours. We watch our friends eat, then 45 minutes later they watched us eat. Service was good, but when it came to compensation, management lacked professionalism. The manger never came out because he was«unavailable. I am now«unavailable» to ever come back to the restaurant again.

Service was bad but the sushi was worse They are reusing old country crocker tubs to store food in. Would not suggest this place

Here’s the thing about Fuji. Location: It’s right next to a gas station and the restaurant is actually further in from the main street so you’ll have to make sure you don’t miss the street sign. I wish they would just remodel the place to make it more appealing. The place just looks rundown. Atmosphere: I honestly would have never gone here if it wasn’t for my coworker. We work down the street so I’ve been here a handful of times. It’s never busy when I’m there for lunch, which can be a good or bad thing. I always wonder how it stays open for so long and if the food is fresh. I hear it’s really busy at night. Service: sometimes it’s bad but most of the time it is pretty good. The guys are nice. Food: I’ve had sushi here once and it wasn’t that good. You know what keeps me coming back? The steak and shrimp or steak and scallops lunch!!! Ask for extra house special white sauce and substitute white rice for fried rice. You’ll end up paying around $ 18 but it will keep you full all day. Sometimes I even have leftover. That’s it, don’t order anything else except the steak, shrimp, scallops and fried rice. Ask for medium rare on the steak. most of the time it comes more cook than you would expect anyway. This is not a place where I would go on my weekend outings but it’s a good place to grab lunch because it’s walking distance. I rather eat here than Wendy’s.

Sister weekend dinner place. I called because benihanna was not taking anymore people. So we went to this place and the Unilocal reviews were pretty good. They say us right away and another table sat with us. Not bad. The cook was the best I could see. I was impressed. Shrimp was great, scallops yum, chicken good and everything was good.

Service was very good. seems like a favorite for Tepanyaki. What customers dont know they have a very good sushi menu. Garlic Alba special was very good and Lemon squeeze very refreshing.

My husband and I joined a group of friends here for dinner tonight. It wasn’t a completely horrible experience, but I owe that to our company, my sake bomb, and decent food, since I was really hungry. The service was terrible: our company got their refills before we got our first drinks. Mind you, we showed up a little late, but still. Our server also brought out one of our rolls before our drinks as well. The food was decent. Honestly, Benihana tastes way better. The server also forgot one of my husband’s rolls. But that’s ok, because our bill was about $ 98 anyway. Also, they added the tax after configuring their mandatory 18% tip(for parties of 6 or more). We calculated it, and it was a difference of a couple bucks. Besides disputing it, we just decided to frequent a more trusted restaurant. Another awesome feature of this place was their disgusting restroom. It smelled like sewer.

How random! We had Japanese Teppanyaki two days in a row. lol With Shogun on Friday night and Saturday night at Fuji. I can honestly say I have compared the two. Fuji seems to be less crowded than Shogun but, I honestly like that because we had a party of 13. Food wise we ordered basically the same thing steak, shrimp and chicken. The flavors were pretty good, after all you can’t go wrong with butter added to anything. The fried rice was delish because there was chicken in it. And our chef was funny and attentive, he always made sure we had enough special sauces which were my favorites. I live for dipping sauces. lol On another note I would of given this place a 5 star if it weren’t for that rotten egg smell in their restroom. I assume it has bad plumbing or sewage system. Hopefully they fix that and I will gladly move them up to a 5.

WAYBETTERTHANBENIHANA! Have been here a bunch of times with friends and the food is top notch. I always order the steak and shrimp. That mustard/white sauce is phenomenal, I want to bathe in it, but instead I bathe everything in my plate in it! Veggies, meats, etc, it’s all just an excuse to get that sauce in my mouth. ALWAYS upgrade to the fried rice, it’s worth it. You will leave here super full. The only thing I have had that I would not recommend is the green tea ice cream, it was bitter. Luckily there is usually no room for dessert ;) Pro tip: tell them you want the fat on your steak. They usually chop it off and discard it, but if you tell them you want it, they’ll crisp it up in little pieces on the grill and it’s sooo very tasty! The only reason it’s 4 instead of 5 stars is that the space is a little odd. Their exterior and entryway could use something to warm it up and make it more inviting(I do love the fish though!). Sometimes when you come in there’s no hostess so you have to kind of wait around. The bathroom could use some sprucing up as well. But once you’re seated, and eating, you forget all about those little things and have a lovely experience.

Great First Impression! We had chef Vincente F. and had a lot of fun with him. I didn’t catch the waiter’s name but he was just as pleasant and funny. This was our first visit here and it may be our last with the competition down the road. I called in for a reservation with the competition, hoping for an opening in a couple hours and instead, was told that 10pm was the soonest we could be seated. UMTHANKSBUTNOTHANKS. Called Fuji and they were able to seat us at 6:30. GREAT! We were promptly greeted, seated, and served. Dinner was well-paced and lively. The place wasn’t over-crowded and we had no problems hearing one another. I would totally recommend this place to family/friends.

I had high expectations based in the reviews but I was disappointed. I wouldn’t recommend this place for sushi. We tried two rolls which lacked flavor, didn’t taste fresh, and I would compare it to cheap grocery store sushi. We tried the fried rice & noodles. Rice was ok but there is better and the noodles had no flavor at all. Our ticket was $ 80 and it wasn’t worth it whatsoever.
