Whenever I’m at the mall and I’m hungry this is the only place I will grab food! The chicken teriyaki is delicious! It’s only $ 6, and very filling. It comes with rice and veggies.

This place is cheap, about $ 6 – 7 a plate and you get a lot of food, however It wasn’t really impressive at all. I actually didn’t even finish my plate. I don’t really see how people are giving this place 4 – 5 star reviews. I got the chicken teriyaki with rice and veggies. The rice seemed like it was steamed with too much water because it was extremely mushy. I wasn’t expecting my «veggie» side to only consist of shredded cabbage with a very little amount of carrot shavings and a couple broccoli chunks. I think I was expecting more carrots and broccoli when they said veggie side. The teriyaki and the chicken had no flavor whatsoever; the chicken might as well have been a rubbery byproduct that contained mostly fat. I pretty much had to drench my rice and chicken with Sriracha to get any flavor. It wasn’t good at all. I would have paid a few bucks more for a better meal because it was definitely not good. As for the customer service, there wasn’t much to rate on. It had a «get in, get out» vibe which I could understand because it’s such a small shop. Overall, not a fantastic experience. Might as well be fast food, which I’m not into. You get a lot of food for your money, but I prefer quality over quantity. Needless to say, I don’t think I will be coming back.

Bad service. The guy was asking to take my order in line while the woman in front of me was still paying I didn’t feel like yelling over her head so I asked if I could wait until she was done paying When the food was up they don’t use a order number they just say«teriyaki» so you don’t know if you’re taking someone else’s order that was there before you, I just guessed and asked then took the food and left. Very strange style of service. Food is good, simple but a strange attitude from staff. Maybe it’s a cultural barrier?

Check your receipt! I was overcharged. I recognize that people make mistakes but my issue is with the attitude and the poor customer service of the cashier. After looking at the receipt and comparing the amount to the posted prices, I pointed out the error to the cashier. He told me the total is more because of sales tax. After I proved my case, he gave back money without an apology. On principle, I had to point out that the amount was still not correct but the difference is just pennies so I was moving on. But the cashier next to him had to butt in and made up an excuse about him mistakenly charging me the regular price instead of the sale price. If that is the case, then he should have recognized the potential error as soon as I pointed out that I was overcharged. Besides there were people in line before me ordering similar items. Did he charge them the regular price instead of the sale price also? I want to give the guy the benefit of a doubt but I am not sure it was an honest mistake by the way everything transpired. Maybe the combination of my accent and what I had on today made me appear like a tourist. Or maybe he was counting on me getting distracted by the child I had with me. Anyway, at least try to listen to what your customer is saying to you before dismissing him.

I love the food here BUT today i went on to get some food and was extremely disappointed. First, i ordered my food like usual and behind me there was a woman that works next door to the sarku place. She got free food from them which is not what bothered me. It was the fact that she got special treatment and got free shrimp and chicken before my ordered came out. Once she left, the mexican cooks that were there were just chatting and joking around that their chicken got burnt. After 20 min of waiting(this is a long time considerig i work at the mall and have certain amount of time to eat) they gave me the order with burnt chicken and gave me about a half a servig that i normally get. I hope you guys can step up your service.

I would give this place Five stars if they had more staff to help the poor cook slaving away at the grill. We got the chicken teriyaki with double meat portion. It was enough for us both with leftovers, which means a lot since we are full figured. Anyhow, nice gem in the mall cafeteria.

Hey, they make the sushi to order here so it’s super fresh! Totally above what I was expecting around closing time at the mall. The wait was long for fast food but the register person was courteous, so I didn’t mind. Portions for hot food looked really big. Exceeded expectations, especially after Panda Express.

Came here for dinner. Waited in line, only to be told that they were not serving sushi, only teriyaki. Apparently, they had run out of sushi rice. How does a sushi place run out of sushi rice? Ridiculous.

I think this place is the best in the food court, always go for chicken teriyaki extra veggies. They even accepted my stamp card from 2 years ago,(ask for one by the way, might still have them), that’s awesome customer service if you ask ME.

I’m surprised at the low rating for Sarku. I’ve been picking up the same order from Sarku –chicken teriyaki, double meat, no veggies– for the past decade or so, starting in Seattle and then moving down to San Diego. I’ve never been disappointed in the chicken and love that the sauce isn’t too overpowering. The stuffed to-go container is plenty of food for two meals for me and two meals for $ 8 is an awesome deal. Compared to other greasy options in a mall food court, I’ll pick Sarku any day!

Sushi takes a long time to prepare and is overcharged. You get five pieces, and they are rather bland. If you want sushi go to an actual sushi restaurant. Main dishes are very bland and everyone is constantly asking them to put on more sauce. The chicken had a lot of gristle and was chopped completely. Noodles were low quality and have a slightly odd texture. Soggy vegetables. Edamame is spelled wrong on there menu, and it is very plain and wet.

Not sure why the reviews are so bad — this place is always packed in fashion valley! Double chicken, no veggies — ! The venue gets a little too packed sometimes, and ive had an incident where someone else took my plate and I got someone elses. I think they could do better with keeping everything organized during a rush.

After a long day of shopping at Fashion Valley, your exhausted, hungry, and just want to go home! Go to Sarku Japan and you will not be disappointed, very reasonable priced and quick! The quality of the chicken and teriyaki sauce is A+! Also the vegetables are great tasting too! Overall great food, great price, and quick! Definitely my favorite way to end a Fashion Valley trip — well beside going to Benihana :)

Meh. You’d think a teriyaki chicken place in the mall would be good but… meh. It’s like watching the end of your favorite TV show and they play a promo for next week’s episode and it’s all«OOOOHIT’S SOCONTROVERSIALTHEMOSTINTENSEEPISODEOFTHESEASONYOUDON’T WANTTOMISSTHIS!!!» and then you watch it and it’s like what the hell yo? The chicken really is bland. I think it’s a lack of seasoning and possibly being slightly overcooked, but there’s really not much going on in terms of flavor. Getting double meat just makes you double-y aware that what you’re eating isn’t really satisfying you. Also — Arrowhead water? Come oooooon. It’s convenient for what it is but don’t expect to be blown away.

Big portion sizes. The chicken teriyaki here satisfies your craving for it when everything in your body is screaming, «MEWANTCHICKENTERIYAKI.» It does the job!

Everytime we go to Fashion Valley mall with my boyfriend he would always insist on eating here ! Why? i do not know. The chicken teriyaki w/extra meat is a «Meh. I’ve experienced better.» The flavor is not there, the price is not worth it. But hey when you are hungry and you want some rice and chicken teriyaki that is freshly grilled when you order this is the place to go !

I had tried the Sarku in Mission Valley, which I liked, so I tried the Sarku in Fashion Valley and maybe the chefs were having an off-day, but the teriyaki chicken was better at MV than FV. It was more bland, not as much flavor. They cook your meal in front of you, which is pretty cool. What I hate is that they call out your order by what you order(i.e. «teriyaki chicken). Everyone basically orders the same thing, so keep in mind who you’re after so that people don’t grab theirs out of order! They really should use order numbers. If I’m at FV food court, I’ll stick to the other places, like Stone Oven.

I’m given Sarku the A-ok because of the freshness. They grill/cook right in front of you so you know it’s not some 2 day old meat and veggies. However, it’s a little pricey for what you’re given. You have to pay .99 for extra meat, I feel like it’s not enough. In addition, the flavor is not all there, I feel that their food is missing that uummph flavor. I can’t help but come here though, it’s one of those places where if you’re in the mood for something to eat, Sarku would be one of my choices, not my top, but a choice. P. S. I love the samples they give out to entice you to buy their food Doin all right at SYU!!! pom pom
