Not the best and not the worst. It’s fast food in a mall food court so you can’t expect gourmet. We got teriyaki chicken and shrimp, 1 order of shrimp tempura sushi, and dumplings. Everything was good except the chicken. Rice was great. Shrimp was fine. Sushi was amazing as were the dumplings but the chicken made us feel gross. It was a rubbery feel to it. It just didn’t taste as good as the shrimp.

Their chicken teriyaki is really good, I just wish the cuts of their chicken weren’t so scrappy

Not that bad. I got the extra chicken teriyaki and it was enough for two kids. Veggies and cashier were somewhat bitter, but when dining at the mall one can’t expect cheery dispositions and edible broccoli.

Quite possibly the blandest teriyaki I have ever had in my life. Well. at least the service was quick.

They didn’t give enough chicken, but the food was decent. The only thing that ruined jt was that I found a small hair in one of pieces of the chicken. Was very disappointed.

Price is right and the chicken was good. I didn’t enjoy the unsanitary conditions, the cashiers and cooks attitude, and was confused as to their food pick up process. They weren’t calling names and people kept picking up each other’s order. I had to go back twice because they didn’t give me my whole order and they also didn’t give me any teriyaki sauce.

I absolutely LOVE Sarku Japan’s teriyaki chicken, I grew up eating at this wonderful mall chain in Baltimore, Maryland. So of course, my expectations were no different when I found this gem at Fashion Valley Mall. I was so WRONG. 4 bites into my chicken teriyaki special, I found a small, brown, ROACH-LIKE insect in my sauce!!! I had to do a double take and make sure my eyes were not deceiving me. I know what I saw was real when I identified some tentacle-looking legs/antennae/I nearly wanted to cry as I was starving that day. I would have gone up and complained, but my natural instinct was to throw my food out and run to the bathroom to puke. When I think back to it, I’m really not surprised due to the fact, that they keep their meat in large plastic containers that sit DIRECTLY on the floor in front of their cooking grill. I know inspection regulations, and it is actually ILLEGAL to let any type of food whether it is sitting in a container or not, to sit on the floor. It needs to have some type of tray or something else holding the container like a shelving unit!!! Needless to say, I haven’t been back to this location since and have been reluctant to visit any other of Sarku’s southern california locations. Good thing there are copycat recipes online I can make in the privacy of my own home knowing my food is sanitary. It’s a real shame because I used to really like Sarku.

Sarku is the best mall fast food at any Westfield mall across the country. I always get the shrimp and chicken combo. Can’t beat it for the price.

I ordered the chicken teriyaki and shrimp tempura roll. The chicken teriyaki was on special for $ 5.79 which was a great price. The chicken was cooked perfectly with a crispy layer. The vegetable was acceptable and had varieties of broccoli, cabbage, and carrots. This dish would have been great if the rice didn’t taste old. Since I eat rice on a daily basis, I know how old rice tastes like and this was probably at least a day and a half old. The shrimp tempura roll was decent and no complaints there. I would have given this place at least 3 stars if it wasn’t for the rice. Please don’t serve old rice!!!

Good chicken but the shrimp was non Exsistence and they made me pay a premium for it!

This is my favorite place to eat! Yummy and very affordable! I literally have lunch here every day! About $ 7 for a HUGE load of chicken or beef with rice and veggies, and you get every 5th meal free! It’s awesome how all the staff members already know me and they know what I will order! Super friendly! Love this place!

love their veggie zen combo. they always make my stuff super quick(unless it’s super busy which is understandable) and it’s cheap! I always pick this stuff up when I go on my lunch break since I work at the mall. This place contributes to my avocado and inari sushi addiction.

Teriyaki chicken and rice. Get the double meat and share — a perfect meal for those trying to watch carbs and all(just cut back on the rice you eat).
