Came here looking for some halal Mexican food with my husband. First off this place was confusing to find because the address on Unilocal was incorrect. Second, when we did find the restaurant, there was no sign indicating that it was the restaurant we were looking for. We had to rely on the pictures on Unilocal to confirm it was the restaurant we were looking for lol. And third, there was no Mexican restaurant which was a big let down. It was connected to an Indian/Pakistani grocery store. Big let down. Don’t bother coming to the restaurant that doesn’t exist anymore.

This place has decent Mexican food. Not superb and not horrible. The two stars are knocked off for the following reasons: There is an offer on Unilocal for one free soft taco but the girl there did not honor the coupon stating they do not have soft tacos and did not offer anything else in place of the soft taco. They did have other tacos though so disappointed that she didn’t offer to give one of those. The other negatives would be the cleanliness, décor, and staff attentiveness. I’d go back to try other food if I were in the area only because it’s halal food.

I was really confused as to where the restaurant was because it’s inside of a world market, and I definitely was even more skeptical because it’s a Indian /Mexican restaurant. But we were starving and everything people were posting looked so good. We got Carne asada fries and a chicken quesadilla. The asada fries were AMAZING considering the fact that we didn’t expect them to be all that. And the chicken quesadilla was so mouth watering that I had trouble enjoying the asada fries after. The only thing was they don’t give the free soft taco anymore when you check in. According to the cashier it ended two years ago. But the asada fries are enough for two. Oh and also they don’t offer you drinks not even water. I would give it 4 stars but they didn’t give us any water and they didn’t honor they’re free soft taco voucher.

Amazing hole in the wall restaurant! We had Carne asada fries and the surf and turf taco– both of which were fresh and delicious. The steak is cut into tiny pieces and is so tender and juicy. They serve them with a spicy sauce which was like sriracia/mayo… need I say more? The only reason I gave 4 stars is because of the location/atmosphere and lack of bathrooms. It’s attached to an indian grocery store. We didn’t mind, a great lunch after visiting La jolla cove!

All the meat is pre marinated bc you can not choose a not spicy dish. The Cesar salad is made with tandoori chicken, I’m sorry but that’s not Cesar salad! The place is a part of a grocery store and it has no bathroom. I do not recommend this place.

Upon arriving we walked around in circles before finding the waitress who was eating behind the counter and promptly told us to have a seat and give her 10mins to finish eating!!! Once we got our food, my sons tacos were soo spicy he couldn’t finish them. My veggie burrito was advertised in the menu as having Rice and Beans and ended up being ALLPEPPERS. When I asked the server, she responded that they don’t add rice or beans. Even though its on the MENU. And i had to walk 5mins to the nearest restaurant for the bathroom as this place does NOT have one. Skip this one guys.

Mexican food was amazing. The Indian food ironically was not that great. I personally feel they should focus their menu more on the Mexican. To die for

Three words: CARNEASADAFRIES. If I come back here, which I plan to next time I’m in SD, this is the item that I will be back for. You might be a bit confused trying to find this place, it’s in a corner — it’s actually inside of a shop named the«World Market» which is actually an Indian Market. There is also another sign saying Bismillah Kabob & Curry. With that said, this place is HALAL.() We ordered 3 items — Chicken Karahi, Carne Asada Fries & Carne Asada Burrito. I had very little of the chicken Karahi, but my dad LOVED it. Even after finishing the dish, he continued to rave about how it was the best thing we ordered. The Carne Asada Burrito was OKAY. I might have just not liked it much because it was wrapped in tortilla or because the carne Asada fries were just too good. The place is spacious & chill.

Came here to use their check in order and they refused it. Why is it on your Unilocal site if you won’t let customers use it? Don’t come here.

Definitely a hidden gem. This place is quite hidden, you the west turn on clairemont mesa going away from Walmart and convoy, but boy is it amazing. The place itself is very spacious and when we went, it was empty. Mostly likely because we went near closing on a Tuesday night. The lady that took our orders was extemely kind and patiently explained what were in each burrito/taco since they didn’t have descriptions on their menu. She also ended up cooking the meal as well. I ended up getting the California burrito and a chicken taco(comes free if you check in) and I gotta say it was delicious. The quality was definitely there and the portions were huge. I can eat an entire plate of carne asada fries at vallartas and I was pretty stuffed after the burrito. The chicken was extemely juicy and flavorful, kind of reminded me of a better el pollo loco, and they packed a lot of it in. The guacamole felt homemade, the fries were just out of the fryer, and the salsa was very solid. Definitely will come back again.

So, before I type up this amazing review of unbiased, legit, and rare experience. I need to first warn you. This 5 start rating is about the quality of the food and how I couldn’t stop raving about it, lmao. Sorry if I burst your bubble. My sister and I are from the Bay Area, a couple great places for burritos and tacos. but the sauce is what calls people. But let’s continue with the review PROS –The menu isn’t too small, and easy to pick from. –plenty of dinning room –sauce bar! –free chips –they bring you food CONS –parking –busy streets lol After making my decision, I ordered the surf and turf burrito. Their steak(carne) and shrimp! I was itching for a California so I just added fries. My sister got a basic asada burrito, and both burritos didn’t contain beans which made eating easy on us: P After purchasing we headed to sauce bar. The sauce in Casa, had the orange look(instant eye grabber for me) I was expecting a nice spice level with a tang. And I got exactly what I wanted. Different types of salsa but I was hooked on the orange sauce. The food wait wasn’t long, 10mins tops. The burrito was huge and the lady even said«good luck». My sister and I laughed and we got to eating. The asada was something we’ve never had in the bay, nice chunks of grilled meat and hearty flavor with Huge pieces of shrimp and fresh avocado made every bite better. My sister thought I was done eating but I needed to post via Instagram, Twitter and text it because it was so epic. Bite after bite I couldn’t help but talk about it. My sister just laughed while I gave her a live review. Finished the burrito with an ease and didn’t regret one moment, probably gonna buy one or two togo and save it for the car ride home, good thing I have cooler

I tried this place today and today will be the first and last time I come here… I was disappointed, I bought 2 fish taco’s. $ 4 each. To sum it up… pricey and mediocre at best. I did not see the chipotle cream sauce that was shown in one of the Unilocal photo’s and when I asked about it, I was told all they have is what’s on the table. As of this writing the online menu prices are off, so don’t go buy them. actual prices are more. Spent almost 9 bucks here for 2 fish tacos and when I think of all the other places I could of ate for the same price in this area I’m kicking myself for even trying this place. My buddy liked his $ 10 carne asada fries but when asked if he would do it again or be back. like me. the answer was no. Sorry but free chips and salsa did not make up for the failure in this visit. With the prices these guys are charging there are so many better places to eat around here…

Had the flame broiled roasted chicken pieces with tortillas, beans and rice. 10x better than el pollo loco; trust me. YOu gonna end up bring some home cause the chicken pieces are pretty big. Horchata: AMAZING; best horchata ive ever tasted in my life; even if you’re just thirsty and not hungry, you gotta try the horchata here. Friendly staff; prompt service, adequate parking. fresh salsa!

Wooo boy! What an experience! This is a new establishment and we just couldn’t resist. Besides I needed that steak burrito :) we ended up ordering steak burritos and tacos and some awesome chicken tacos. The food was great, super fresh. Huge portions so if you’re starving this is the place for you. Their prices are seriously good. Especially since you get enough food to feed an army. The place is new so they décor is fresh. It’s clean and pleasant on the eyes. The service is outstanding. April was super helpful. She explained the menu to us and made sure we were happy throughout our meal. Friendly, helpful — she has a sparkling personality. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a fun day or night out. The food is wonderful. Service is great. And the complimentary chips, salads and salsas are amazing. It’s a bit far from home for us but we do visit the area twice a month. But we will make sure to visit them too!!!

Why one star you ask? I couldn’t even place my order due to horrible customer service. Friday night scenario I walk in and there are two people sitting in the corner eating and three men in front of me as I stand behind them at the register. The cashier keeps talking and laughing with the gentleman as they place their order. I get it you can’t rush anyone along but now 4 minutes passes as she keeps giggling with them. They pay for their order and start to walk away. Yes I think to myself it is my turn. Nopeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. The cashier who I believe had said her name was Jesse to the men turns around and talks to the cook on something. Once again I get it you need to tell him something about the order. Now the cashier turns around does not even acknowledge me in any way and the phone rings. She picks it up and says Casa Medina what can I get for you. Are you kidding me!!! I have been standing here now over 5 minutes you have not acknowledged me one time and you just pick up the phone and take another order. Just for future reference you may want to say can you please hold and service the person who has been standing there that you have not even said hello to or acknowledged. You may have seen me walking out if you were not hunched down behind the cash register taking their order. Honestly if you would have yelled at me or even cursed me out and said hey @#$# as I walked out I probably would have been happier with that because that at least meant you acknowledged me once but damn I can’t even get that haha. As you can see in my other reviews I am fair in my reviews and must admit this situation left me very upset. This might be the reason at 6:30 on a Friday night you have a total of 5 people in your business eating dinner while all of the other restaurants around there are packed. I wish local businesses the best of luck but unfortunately this one will not be getting my business! Hope you step your game up before it is too late! Best of luck!

This place is amazing, it’s not a taco shop like people think … The food is amazing. Meat is outstanding and fresh, probably cause it’s organic and you can taste the difference. My favorites here are the fresh grilled mahi mahi fish tacos, surf and turf taco and the shrimp burrito comes with their homemade chipotle sauce! I’m in heaven! Everything is fresh and made daily so it’s amazing. The customer service the girls in front give also makes you feel at ease and like your VIP! I definitely recommend this place and will be returning.
