This place is close to my house, which is the main reason I go there, but no more. The food is good IF they happen to get your order correct. I order the same thing all the time: three rolled tacos with cheese, lettuce and sour cream only. That’s all. I’d say 4 out of 10 times I actually get that. Sometimes only guacamole, which I don’t like, sometimes salsa and guac, or any combination of the above. You cannot wipe off guac. As others have said, they are also pretty rude, and they are hard to hear in the drive-thru speaker, but I wouldn’t care as long as my order was correct. Tonight I placed my order in the drive-thru and after 10 seconds or so, the guy says… «What???» That’s all he said. So I repeat it. Then the total is about $ 2.50 more than what is says on the menu. I should know by now to check my order before I leave, but the average wait in the drive-thru is about 8 minutes, so by the time I get my order, I just want to get out of there, so I guess I’ll take some blame. Fool me once… So here I sit with my $ 8.53(tip not included) guacamole salsa mess with 8 little cups of their red sauce, which is actually ok. Maybe I’ll use it on the toast I’m going to make for dinner. Booooo. I won’t be going back.

I’ve been here like 30 times. They’re not the best but they have a drive thru and are open late which makes them the only option. I’m usually pretty satisfied but tonight I found a large bone and some cartalidge in my pollo asado burrito. Actually, I found it in my mouth while trying to chew a bite of the burrito. I’m disgusted and my teeth hurt.

Bummer. Just had to send some ice cold hours old taquitos back. Place is usually good. They did remake them right away and they were fantastic

This was literally the first place that I drove to from the airport after I arrived. That’s what 4 years of memories from student life at UCSD does to you. Well, I should give some credit to this joint too. Let’s be clear. You don’t come here for sophistication. You come here for flavor, and portions, at very reasonable prices. I’m glad I only got two tacos instead of venturing to get a burrito… they were plenty for me…(even though I went next door to Ramen Yamadaya afterwards just because it was there and I just can’t skip out on good ramen… but that’s for another time). Carne asada tasted more stewed than grilled, but the al pastor was a «punch in the face» full of flavor. Super salty, but man that’s good stuff. I don’t know if I’ll have a chance to go back to the OG spot on Gennesee, but if I don’t get to on this trip, I got my fix.

Food is always amazing here. That being said, the last two times I’ve ordered a shredded chicken burrito, I’ve gotten cubed chicken. It’s not that it tastes bad, it’s just not what I’ve ordered

Cotixan is one of my favorite fast Mexican restaurants in SD. Awesome food but the service sucks. The staff is rude and it takes forever to get your order especially the drive through. The inside is slightly messy and the kitchen isn’t very clean either. The only reason I give this place the time of day is because of the food. They have amazing burritos, carne asada or «cotixan» fries, and great tacos. If you aren’t in a hurry or need a late night burrito, go to cotixan but don’t expect to be wowed until you taste the food.

I have been coming here for about 5 years. I think I will start looking for a new shop. The food has always been good and fresh going to the drive thru but when you walk in seems very dirty, the drive thru is disgusting with stuff all over the windows and just very unclean. If I were the owner of this restaurant, I would pressure wash outside.

The Carne asada fries and California burrito are pretty bomb! The fries could be shared between 3 people.

This place gives way too much food for what you get and that is not a bad thing at all. I’ve eaten here before and they give you so much meat whether it be carne asada fries or carne asada burrito. This past weekend I tried Menudo for the first time and was surprised at how much tripe they put in the soup. It was tasty but I feel you’d really enjoy this soup if you grew up with it. Food overall is pretty good and you get the bang out of your buck.

I was working and I needed lunch so I stopped by to get some food. I literally was standing in front of the register for at least 10 minutes while the cashier was using her phone. The cashier was not friendly at all. The waiting time for food was not that bad but I was the only one there th be fair. I bought Carne asada fries they weren’t the best but they weren’t the worst I’d say 5⁄10 on the carne asada fries. Over all I wouldn’t recommend it honestly and if your reading this to see if you want to eat there I’d say look for another place.

I’m updating my review because they have obviously changed something. I’m not sure if they have gotten new management but everything is better. Service is better, speed is better, and food quality is much better. It’s still not up to par with the old days but much much better! I’ll be eating here again.

This hot sauce is BOMB x 10. Lunch Burrito is a must. Bean and Cheese Burrito is a must. Potato Burrito sub sour cream for guac– is a MUST. The hot sauce makes it the BEST taco shop in town.

Not only is this place provide great food for a reasonable price. It might be the only place to get food after 10 pm in the La Jolla, San Diego area. This double duo delight, makes it one of my favorite late night stops. Be prepared, for a little bit of a wait. Have no fear, the food is worth the wait.

Their carne asada fries are to DIEFOR! It is pretty much a heaping mound of food. I usually can’t eat it in one sitting(It usually lasts me 3 meals!) I love putting the orange salsa over it. It is the perfect amount of spice. The guac on the fries is also very good! There is hardly ever a wait and I like that there is a drive thru for when I am lazy! :)

I eat a lot of Mexican food and have ate at multiple Cotixan locations I ordered a chimichanga burrito NOVEGGIES and for some unapparent reason that I will never know they added beans. My burrito was 90% beans and 10% nasty mushed beef. It was the most disgusting burrito I have ever ate in my life and I will no longer be going to this location. Huge disappointment since I have ordered this same burrito multiple times.

I am a regular here and have been for many years since we live right down the street. The food has ALWAYS been great, no matter what I have gotten. They also catered a party for my family and it was cheap and great food. I almost always come through the drive through and it’s always quick and efficent. The employees are generally friendly but I have had some expeirences where they were rude and indifferent, but I guess we all have our days. I will keep coming back for the delicious food and the FANTASTIC hot sauce.

I have passed this place tons of different times, I always pondered on why this taco shop chain decided to open two locations so close together. This one only being just a couple miles from the genesee location, its really weird how different these places are though. I visited the Cotixan after a long sixteen hour shift at night on Sunday. this place stays open really late on the weekends. Upon entering their super small dining area, I was greeted by the friendly cashier and next to them sat their super small salsa bar( ) which doesn’t look like much, but their salsa is quite amazing here, one of the reasons which makes this place so great. Not only that, but they give you little plastic bags on top so you can take home peppers, cilantro, and onions. I couldn’t help myself, but I wanted a crap load of salsa( ) cause it tasted so good. Their hot carrots( ) are kept behind the counter and cost extra, in my opinion they’re worth it, crunchy carrots without too much vinegary taste. So many people talk about this place’s legendary«lunch» burrito, so there is no way I could have left this place without one. Nothing beats a good nighttime breakfast burrito. As you can see( ) they pack this burrito up! The lunch burrito came with eggs, beans, bacon, french fries and cheese, what a combo for a great breakfast burrito( ). The french fries & bacon were crispy, cheese melted, and eggs cooked great. I simply enjoyed their beans here, so much I’d most likely get some on the side next time. Their deluxe quesadilla( ) looked very interesting. I am a big fan of vegetarian quesadillas, its basically a crispy burrito of goodness that is flattened. They don’t screw around with their quesadillas, this thing was massive and they loaded the container with guac and pico de gallo on the side. Perhaps one of the better«supreme» quesadillas I’ve had in San Diego, I really like how they made the outside crispy while keeping the lettuce, guac, sour cream inside refreshing. This location of Cotixan surprised me, I almost figured I would be disappointed like I was when I tried out their genesee location, but everything seemed to taste way better here. Their salsa being one of the things that stuck out here, they have damn good salsa. All of their ingredients were fresh and seasoned great. Clairemont has a lot of great taco shops in this area, good to find another one. Definitely stop by and try one of their«lunch» burritos.
