The Avgolemono soup was the special of the day — and served with a fresh pita, both were very good! I’ve never had Avgolemono soup before, so it is on my «hit list» of something to learn to cook.(a lemon/chicken soup) I also had a gyro — which was sad. The meat was dry. The sandwich was built on a small pita of about 5″ — a longer one would have been better because the gyro fell apart as I was trying to eat it making a big mess… or maybe it was me eating like an animal; you decide. Animal or not, it lacked onions, tomato and tahini sauce. These are all mandatory for a decent gyro. They did serve a yogurt sauce on the side which I poured on my sandwich, but yogurt sauce isn’t tahini sauce. It was 2 p.m. in the afternoon and the people running the place looked pretty beat. I mean, like they stayed up all night or something. I felt like I might be adding to their misery by ordering the food. The restaurant has is kind of «fast food» in décor: a long hallway with doors at both end. The hallway gets a nice breeze… which isn’t welcome when eating food. The lighting was«3 bulbs short» of being cheerful. Try the soup, avoid the gyro and get it to go.

Location: It’s in the same location with the Fresh and Easy next to Nanay’s BBQ and Silk Road. Décor: It has a fast food feel to it with ordering at the long counter and menu displayed on the glass. They also have some tables and chairs inside if you wish to dine in. Food & Drinks: The thing I usually get here is the greek bites plates. I am not sure about the other dishes, but I really like this one. It is on the pricier side coming close to $ 11, but I think it is well worth it. This comes with 1 chicken skewer(4 pieces), lots of lamb shavings, 3 chicken wings, a greek salad, rice, and some flat bread. They also have a type of Tzatziki sauce to go with it all. The one thing you have to be careful of is the meat is a little over salted, but you get a great amount of protein for the price you pay and it is not as oily and greasy as the places next door. Definitely give it a try if you want a giant platter of meat! Happy Greek Bites eating my friends!

I got a sample platter and it was awesome! I’m originally from Chicago and there are places to get gyros on every other corner. This was hands down the best gyro meat I’ve ever had. The sample plate came with chicken wings and whatever seasoning they used… I NEEDTOGETMYHANDSONIT!

I’ve been here a few times since it’s the closest Greek place to work. It’s actually the first place I’ve tried gyro and I’ve been addicted to Greek ever since! Just not at this place. The place is really small and dated looking. The staff is nice and the food is pretty much on par with other Greek places. I don’t like the way they set out their plastic ware. It’s so unsanitary just having it sit there were everyone’s germs can get on it. On this particular visit we decided to sit outside. They don’t bring your food out to you so you just have to check in to see if it’s ready. The tables outside are shared for the food court. On this visit it was very unpleasant with all the flies everywhere. Pretty gross. The presentation of the food is sad… Just placed on cheap paper plates. The chicken was quite dry, not juicy from the yogurt marinade like other places. And at other places I’ve always been okay with the chicken even though I’m lactose intolerant but at this place I immediately felt sick. The euro was good and the salad I didn’t get to enjoy because I forgot to say no cheese… My fault. I usually realllyyy love their rice but this time it was just okay. My coworker got the calamari and she enjoyed it although it wasn’t something to talk about. Now that I’ve tried quite a few other Greek places I don’t think I will come back here unless I’m really in a hurry…

WARNING: This place was recently bought by another company. I USEDTO love coming here. But, recently it has gone straight down hill. I have been here a couple times since the ownership changed. There are all new people behind the counter who are nowhere near as friendly and the food is nowhere near as good. I recently went for the LAST time. I got a Greek chicken salad. In addition to taking over 20 minutes to be ready, when I got back to the office to open it up, I discovered that the chicken was dangerously undercooked. The picture says it all. Steer clear of this place now. Sad so see a long-time success plummet into the gutter so quickly.

PEACHD* REVIEW — Zorbas Platter. Gyros, Chicken Kebab, Rice and Salad? I’m totally down. PACKAGING — really good. Everything was nicely separated and the dressing was in a separate container. I didn’t feel like anything would leak or fall out. They separated the tzatziki sauce from the food containers so you would have had to remember to grab one. I think someone forgot theirs so I got extra! FOOD — Very good lunch meal and a lot of food! The portion of gyros was very generous, tender, and well seasoned. Pita bread was nice and soft. The chicken kebab was well seasoned too but overcooked causing it to be dry. Rice pilaf is moist and flavorful. The greek salad with dressing is good as well. The olive was sweet. Overall, a really good value! WOULD I TRYTHERESTAURANT? — yes. I haven’t tried too many Greek places around since I left UCSD but this one is close to me and I will definitely remember them next time I’m in the area. Their food definitely reminds me of Santorini UCSD that I loved. * Peachd is a food delivery service that delivers lunches from local restaurants to companies around San Diego.

« Unilocal Review Challenge 2015 — 8» My co-worker, boss and I frequent Greek Bites and absolutely love it. We have never had anything that was not prepared correctly, seasoned correctly, and is always fresh. I usually get a large Greek salad and love the fact there is just the right amount of feta, olives, tomatoes and dressing! I always ask for no onions, allergy. If you prefer meat, you can order a Greek Bites salad. Let me tell you, it will more than satisfy your hunger. This place is small and always busy during lunch time, yet there is rarely a wait of more than a few minutes to both order and receive your food. I gave this establishment 4 stars for the above quality and consistency of the food as well as the customer service from both the cashier and cooks(who are right behind the counter). I would recommend this place to anyone in the area and can confidently say you can order just about anything on the menu and you will enjoy it!

Came in here today for lunch since I was training up here in Mira Mesa. Ordered a gyro sandwich wrap everything seemed good until I was about half way into my sandwich tarted chewing. Chewed something hard, took it out of my mouth and a spring from their meat machines was in the sandwich I so happened to order. I couldn’t even imagine if I had my own kids and if they had swallowed that. Told the lady at the register what I found and she wondered to the kitchen to see where it came from and stated that a spring must have popped off into the gyro that was in my sandwich when they were slicing. She offered me another sandwich after I was nearly done with mine. No, I’d like my money back. It was horrible because I’ve never experienced something like that. Didn’t offer anything else but a new sandwich. Ridiculous.

Good Greek food! My boyfriend & I went here during lunch & I ordered the gyros lunch special which came with fries & a drink. What I love about this place is that they give you a lot of lamb & do not skimp you out by overloading the gyros with vegetables. In addition, the fries are deliciously seasoned.

The best $ 17.12 I’ve ever spent on Greek food. I got the Zorba’s platter and the Gyro value meal. I should’ve written review a while ago but haven’t had any time. So here’s my review… this is the best Greek food I’ve had in a long time. Actually I should say one of my favorites and second would be Daphne’s. But the prices are right and the food is delicious at Greek bites. I like how when you order the fries it has Cajun seasoning to it. And the portions are bigger and tasty. Just overall a great Greek place it’s very busy during the weekdays because it’s in Sorrento Valley area. And The customer service is great. If you’re ever in the Sorrento Miramesa area this would be the place to get Greek food.

It’s not terrible, and it’s not the best. Just plain mediocre to my taste. I had the Greek Bites platter here so I can try a little bit of everything. The skewered chicken is nothing outstanding and doesn’t have much flavor, the rice is overcooked, the chicken was rubbery in some parts and had little flavor as well, and the gyro meat was a little too gamy for me. The gyro meat did have the most flavor than the other items on my plate, but I couldn’t put it all down. I normally finish my food too; but this time I couldn’t. Most Greek restaurants; even the fast food ones, have more flavor blasts in their items than this place. Disappointed.

The gyro pita I ate was thicker than I was used to. The meat could have been sliced thinner, and it could have been held together better than a half-sleeve of foil. At least the pita itself was thick and soft. The sauce was good but thick, wish I got more. Points for fast service though.

There’s no way anyone can say that San Diego doesn’t have good Greek Food. Greek Bites is one of those places that I frequent more often than I probably should. It’s tasty and close to work. If a review were based on only those two things, this place would get 4 stars, however it’s not. Food: I typically get the Zorbas Platter described as «A large portion of gyro meat and one beef or chicken kabob.» The Gyro meat is a little on the gamier side, which I like, and the kabob always has a great char on it. The platter comes with a small portion of salad, rice and one piece of Pita bread cut into quarters which makes for good combining with the other meats. The platter is $ 8.45 as of 7÷3÷14 and it’s far far FAR from a «large» portion of gyro meat. The gyro meat is comparable to maybe 2⁄3 of the meat from other restaurants I’ve been to with gyro meat and the kabob is always skimpy on the meat as well. I understand that times are tough and prices go up, but don’t say it’s a «large» portion. Lemon & Oregano Chicken Wing Platter Same as above, comes with 1 pita bread, rice, and small salad(size of maybe half a baseball), and 5 chicken wing pieces. Yes… 5. $ 9.85 for 5 chicken wing pieces. Just let that sink in. 5. That’s almost $ 2 per piece of chicken. Let’s give them the HUGE benefit of the doubt and say that the ONE slice of pita, rice and salad cost $ 1 total. That leaves $ 8.85. that’s $ 1.77 per wing. SERIOUSLY!!! Accessibility. Coming here afternoon is a breeze, plenty of parking, walk in, walk out. Coming here during lunch on a weekday? Dang near impossible. It’s not their fault the landlords have a crappy parking lot but still it’s a negative. If it weren’t for the small portions for the amount you pay, I’d come here more often. Like I said, it’s good, just expensive. That’s why it’s a 3 star joint. TL:DR — Tasty but expensive.

I’ve been coming here for years. I try to not come during weekday lunch hour, as this food court is CRAZYBUSY during lunch time. If you can pop in before the lunch rush or during the dinner hour, you will likely have the place to yourself. If you are super hungry, I recommend the Greek Bites Platter. All things good on one plate. Sliced Gyro meat, rice, side salad, chicken wings, a chicken kebab, and some flat bread. Again… all things good on one plate. Everyone I have ever been in contact with at Greek Bites has always been very friendly and the service is always great. I enjoy supporting quality establishments such as these. Supporting local, small business should always be your preferred destination. Give this place a try for a casual, Greek– Semi-Fast-Food experience.

The Hubs had some sort of deal(Living Social, maybe?), so we decided to give Greek Bites a shot. At first glance, I wasn’t really expecting much. The inside is neat and clean, but it’s tiny. I could see this place getting extremely crowded at lunch time… too bad for me, since I work right up the street. The hubs ordered the Gyros Family Platter and I got the falafel plate. We received our food quickly and were shocked by the amount of food we got. There was a ton of meat and pita, a huge plate of rice and a nice sized Greek salad. That was just the hub’s meal! My plate had probably 4HUGE falafels, a large salad, rice and pita. We also got about 4 things of tzatziki. I didn’t taste the Gyro meat, but the hubs loved it. It looks amazing, though. Crispy on parts, juicy on others… picture perfect gyros. My falafel was amazing. It was perfectly spiced and crisp on the outside, but not mealy on the inside. The pita was soft and thick. The salad was definitely fresh and had a ton of feta — nice! Even my picky 3 year old ate a ton of food. After gorging ourselves on Greek goodness, we happily rolled out of there with the thought in mind to come again very soon!

Yikes, I’m honestly a little disappointed. I now understand why this place has a 3 star average: it really does taste average. It’s kind of like eating leftovers: no matter how amazing it was when you first ate it, leftovers reheated will just not taste as great. This place jumps the«amazing» stage and jumps right into«lets just get this over with!» Food: — Gyro Mania Platter($ 7.99)(C+): The menu distinctly says, «mounds of gyros» — but lo n’ behold — I only see a hill. I expected MOUNDS. Don’t get me wrong, I expect how much I paid for, but the wording just threw me off! The gyro was mediocre — as in it wasn’t flashing with flavor or crispy and«alive». The salad was decent, the rice was a little puffy, and the pita bread was crisp and soft at the same time – yum. I’ve tried better… much better. — Lemon Wings($ 2.25): Wow, I loved the tender taste of these wings and the distinct lemony rub. Kind of pricey for 4 wings, but it was a nice filler. Not too bad. Pro: — Aww, the lady who helped me out was really nice. — Not too busy, which means less waiting, which means not too popular. This can be a con. — Ample parking in the lot all around it. Con: — Oh boy… the food isn’t anything special… Yikes, there’s really not much else to say. I had a 5 second fling and that was it… you know what I mean? Don’t take it too personally… it’s all me…

My friend and I went there for lunch today. Parking was really bad(it was noon on a Friday) but we managed to find a spot on the street between the restaurant and Staybridge Suites. I got a Gyro sandwich and my friend got a beef pita wrap. So they claim that they have the best gyro sandwich in town. Hm… it was pretty good but I don’t think it was THE best in town. One thing I liked about the sandwich was that it was not greasy at all. My friend got a beef pita wrap and she liked it. The only problem was that it only had 4 small cubes of beef in it. The price is reasonable, each of them cost under $ 6. One more thing, the tzatziki sauce that came with the sandwich(on the side) was actually really good.
