Hair by Tara May

I’ve been getting my hair done by Tara for nearly a year and she’s a really fabulous stylist. I get my hair dyed red and black and trimmed every time; although if you schedule her, she says it takes 2 hours but its more like 2 ½ and it’s pretty pricy ($ 150 + tip). But it’s well, well worth it. I go 3 months without having my hair done and the cut she does stays pretty well in shape that entire time. Tara’s also really sweet and very nice, and I’m sad she’s leaving San Diego for Portland :(She’s also vegetarian, so you can chat with her about that if you’re vegetarian.

I’ve been coming to Tara for several years and would never go anywhere else! Like most other curly-​haired girls I know, getting a haircut is typically a gut-​wrenching experience… since coming to Tara, I love getting my hair done and can even try new things because I trust her completely. She has a great eye for style and is super knowledgeable about color and overall hair health. I always come out of her chair with great body, shape, and amazing color… ready for a night on the town! I have been getting my hair cut and colored by Tara since she was in Beauty School. I wouldn’t go to anyone else, it would be cheating and it wouldn’t be good, and therefore not worth it! I get compliments each time and have been approached by strangers asking who had done my hair. She is a total Sweetheart as well and she won’t steer you wrong.

I am really picky about how I want my hair done and Tara has never disappointed me! She is so patient and helpful, I feel like a new person every time I leave the salon. She also gives the best scalp massage! Booking an appointment with her is always my first priority when I am in San Diego. Overall, I can’t say enough good things about her work! Book an appointment ASAP and feel/​look the best you ever have!!!

Tara always does a fantastic job. I’ve followed her from her previous salon, to Magnolia, and then through Magnolia’s move to the new location. Over this time, both friends and family of mine have started visiting her as well, and we couldn’t be happier (or better looking thanks to her). The cuts/​colors she gives are as stylish as she is, and the scalp massage shampoos are an added bonus.

I first stumbled in to her chair nearly 4 years ago, with a mop of shoulder length hair and badly in need of an image revamp. I think the only direction I managed to give her was: «Cut it all off.» Then, she proceeded to give me one of THE best haircuts I’ve ever gotten. After that, I was hooked. One great cut after another; and ALL while providing some of the best hairstylist therapy sessions money can buy ;)
Not only is Tara artistically talented, but she UNDERSTANDS hair. She can take inspiration you have, inject some Tara «swag,» and make it work for your hair because she really understands the mechanics of cutting hair. She had my utmost confidence from the first hair cut she gave me, and I think that’s the best testimonial I can give for her.
I’ve referred many friends to her, and they’ve all left happy. Seeing Tara is a decision you wont regret.
