Alright, if you’re gonna advertise that you serve menudo on Saturday and Sunday only… at least try and make a good bowl. We’ll before I go on, let me say shame on me for thinking a taco shop would serve a decent bowl of menudo. There wasn’t any hominy added to this soup… what Mexican makes menudo without any hominy? I was looking for that next morning«cure all» after a night of drinking… sad to say, after eating this bowl… I still feel like crap. Shoulda got 3 rolled tacos instead. Should have went down to 3rd Street in Chula Vista and went to Don Pedros. Oh’well.

Mehhhh. The place was empty… I was the only customer. 15 minutes for a adobada burrito? Decent food, but a bit too much cinnamon in the seasoning. San Diego, heck. that stretch of Miramar, has tons of taqueria choices. Open late on the weekends(in case you need to soak up the beer on the way back to the BEQ). Slow as molasses in January, OK food, open late. A 2-star«mehhhh.»

Very mediocre food(sweet fish taco = what?!) with basic and slightly unfriendly service, a 75-cent charge for any purchase when you use any card(this is 2015; everyone uses a card = price gouging), no restroom, bland salsa and a cramped, old interior. This place checks all the wrong boxes. Go to one of the other 10 taco shops in the area; you’ll be way happier.

Good late night food. Asada burritos and rolled tacos are pretty good. Staff speaks mainly Spanish but are pretty friendly and, yes, they understand you. Clean and well lit place.

If I gave Juan Bertos any less than five stars — Jason would disown me. He’s been having a love affair with their carne asada burritos for twenty years. And anytime we’re in town to visit family, we have to make a stop and this little hole in the wall Mexican restaurant. According to Jas, nothing in this place has changed in twenty years except for the prices, which is to be expected. We always order burritos and they are always delicious. Yesterday, we ordered carne asada burritos with guacamole around 10AM and we didn’t need to eat again until we made it to Reno, 7 hours later. I know some have complained about the prices, but if you’re getting two meals out of a burrito, then it’s a good deal! They have a small seating area around the corner from the counter and you can order canned sodas with your meal too. Juan Bertos — it’s safe to say we will be back on our next trip to SD. Unilocal — Any chance you can combine the two restaurants(Juanberto’s vs Juan Berto’s)? They are one and the same.

I was craving tacos all week and based on the good reviews, I decided to try Juanbertos. I was not happy with my experience with Juanbertos at all. Ordered 4 chicken tacos and it was all nasty. Greasy and felt heavy. Realized they were hard tacos(whoops)-should of requested for soft tortillas since I like them that way. Went back in and lady did me a favor-or at least I thought she did. Tipped her $ 2.00-walked back to my car and realized she never gave me the soft tortillas. So I walked back in and the chef(man)-probably owner-comes from the back and tells me they don’t serve soft tortillas. Really? So not worth my $ 10.00+tax and $ 2.00 tip. Only reason I’m giving this 1 star is because the lady was friendly, she thought she understood me but didn’t(that’s ok, I understand language barrier). Nonetheless, I would never go back again and will not recommend

Still worthy of four stars! 24 hour taco shop with some good grub! I will admit I don’t have frequent this location is much as I used to since more Mexican shops that have popped up in my neighborhood but this place still holds a sweet spot in my heart. My first Carne Asada Fries experience here and this was my go to spot throughout my college years and for after parties. So I still try to frequent this but at least once or twice a year and it still does not disappoint I’m glad to see that the price of the Carne Asada Fries now does include sour cream great plus there could the prices did get a little bit high comparison to the other locations I now think that it’s pretty comparable. My faves are still their Carne Asada Fries as well as their rolled tacos. Great spot to stop by if you are in the Miramar Road area. The place is a little small and there isn’t that much seating but it’s never a long wait. They still by far have my favorite salsa!

First of all, they tried charging an extra dollar for sour cream PERTACO! uh. No! Extra dollar charge if using cc. They tried charging me 12 dollars for(3)2.50 dollar tacos. Second, the meat they used was dry and looked like beef jerkey. Last time I go there. Not worth my money.

My favorite of the many Mexican eateries near Miramar/Mira Mesa. They have the best tasting Tamarindo, They don’t skimp on ingredients like the Vallerta in Mira Mesa, and they have great red salsa.

You can do so much better for Mexican food in San Diego. 75 cents to use a credit card, the chicken is half tomatoes and peppers, and they have the smallest tortas I have ever seen. No wonder it’s always empty.

I would give a 2.5 star. Ordered 1 carne asada taco, 2 pollo asado tacos & I bean and cheese. The tacos were pretty tasty, although overly greasy(the pollo asado) & there was plenty of meat in them. The bean and cheese burrito is where they take another hit. The beans were really runny & something in the burrito tasted sour… I hope I don’t get sick! Beans at a taco shop can tell you a lot about a place. It’s not that hard. The guy who took the order was nice… & quiet. The food didn’t take long to come out. I’m from South Bay San Diego & the food here is definitely a 2. –2.5 in my my taco shop world.

Saw that there were two places on Unilocal for the same restaurant and just copied and pasted for both. I was stationed at NAS Miramar from 93 – 96 and this place had the best carne asada burritos in the world. Especially after drinking. I revisited 10 years later and they were still amazing. Another 10 years go by to present day and they’re still friggin delicious. Going there now for another trip down memory lane. And for those crying about the prices get over it. The burritos were $ 2.50 in the 90s. Very appropriate prices for today. NOMNOMNOM.

Driving in Mira Mesa at night on the way to a house that I was housesitting for the first time and decided to grab a burrito for dinner. This place is situated in a shopping center next to a few other restaurants. The workers were very nice and attentive, providing us with excellent service. The burrito was amazing chorizo and beans, and the salsa that they provide was top notch. The place was pretty empty when i arrived around 8pm.

It’s maybe average among the handfuls of other similar places nearby. It’s always empty which makes me wonder if other people know something about it that I don’t. They do a good carnitas burrito… salty and a bit fatty and crispy the way it should be.

This place is kind of pricy & they charge $ 1 for creditcard. I guess shame on me for never having cash. It does get crowded since its a very small shop & the parking spaces are small :’( Besides all that the carne asada fries were good

September 21, I ordered a bean and cheese burrito with sour cream from this place around 7pm, went home and ate it for dinner, around midnight I went to bed and within 10 minutes started feeling stomach pains and nausea, couldn’t sleep, around 2pm, I started violently throwing up, off and on thru the night, Monday morning went to the ER and was told what I had already knew which was that I had food poisoning, that was the only thing I had to eat that night, im still suffering the stomach pains from that and needless to say I will not eat there again.

I don’t know why I keep coming here…$ 7 for a breakfast burrito!!! That’s just greedy! :( Still waiting for a good, reasonable priced taco shop in Miramar. With all this money your making off people, you should at least upgrade from a hole in the wall to decent real estate!

$ 10.04 for carne asada fries. Better make my dookie twinkle for that price… Update: It didn’t. Not worth the price. If you’re gonna charge more than Lolita’s for carne asada fries, it better be above and beyond fantastic. Unfortunately, not the case. Think: elevated Alvaro’s? Meat and guac were alright, but all else was far too mediocre for the price. Decent if you’re really in a pinch for mexican food, but I don’t see why you cant just head down the street to Vallarta for something more affordable and tastier. Plus, it made me gassy :\. TMI?
