Hi Unilocal,
It’s been a minute. However, I am taking a minute from my now super busy schedule to inform my Unilocal peoples about the super shady and awful new management that runs this motel.
I admit, I have not stayed here so I cannot review on the premises or first hand experience as a guest particularly. However, as someone who utilizes Unilocal as a resource to discover awesome new businesses, I would LOVE to know when a business is exploiting their workers because I REFUSE to (knowingly) sponsor a business that exploits and mistreats their workers.
I get it, in our capitalistic society cheap rates/​prices are brought to us by cheap labor and the exploitation of workers. I know Unilocal is all about supporting local businesses (who tend to treat their employees in a legal and dignified manner) and I appreciate that our Unilocal community hasn’t lost track of that focus (in my opinion).
I won’t go into details as to what happened (for legal reasons). This is merely for your consideration if you think about staying there. You do what you want with that information

Do NOT stay at this hotel. My friend and I were looking for an economy hotel to stay in for one night and we booked La Petite Rouge assuming that it had been vetted by the booking site. We arrived and it was appalling. The neighborhood is unsafe, the hotel is run down and dirty, and the long-​term tenants are very scary. While we were talking to the manager a man with the entire left side of his face covered in blood walked by and into «his» room. The moment we went up and saw the room (more on this in a moment) there was a violent altercation between two men in the parking lot. The room itself was distressing. There was evidence that at one time there were things like towel bars and a hair dryer but all that remained were holes in the walls which gave the impression that the aforementioned items were ripped out (we assumed in a violent altercation) sometime in the past. The shower and shower curtain were covered in mildew and soap scum and we were uncertain as to the hygiene of the bed.
I am sure they have a standard clientele that this place works well for; however, if you are the average person or a family I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND NOT booking this hotel.
