I cannot get enough of the beef rolled tacos with guacamole but hold the cheese. And, at 2.99 on the weekends they are a sweet deal, and so good that I pay full price on any weekday I feel like. This place got me on a rolled taco kick, so I tried two other places in the neighborhood(I won’t name names), and they were not even close to the quality of Leyva’s tacos in a rolled form. They are expertly rolled and perfectly fried, and hot on the inside unlike the ones served up by their slacker competitors. Trust what I say, I’m the duchess.

Carne asada fries are now $ 8.45 and they are a small portion with not as much meat at other taco shops in SD, food is so so & over priced for the quality and portion size.

Yum! This is an old school taco shop. These guys don’t buy their food elsewhere and reheat it! Everything tastes like it was made from scratch. The meat in the shredded beef tacos is so flavorful and juicy. The carne asada has amazing flavor and makes a messy burrito because they let the meat simmer in the juice, just grab a bunch of napkins and enjoy! Their salsas are a little spicy, I know a lot of people like that but I don’t, so I was disappointed at that, but the flavors in the food don’t require anything to be added, so it’s not a deal breaker for me. Oh and the beans! So yummy, I’m not positive, but I think they might add a little chorizo to them when they’re cooking. Highly recommend this one! :)

Great taco shop. Pretty standard menu but clean, fast, and decent food. Been here for years but recently changed names recommend anything carne Asada. Call in your order and pay cash for a couple of discounts.

Stopped by unexpectedly meanwhile I was waiting for my hair appt next door at Paul Mitchell and I have to say this place was very friendly and super clean. They did take a bit long with the food but it’s for good reason. Their quality is excellent.

Still the best carne Asada burrito in town. Same cooks from bertos. The rolled tacos are still amazing. The red sauce extra tasty and I love the free carrots.

Oh Unilocal how you have disappointed us. This rating is solely based on the food. Service was really nothing nothing to speak of, it was literally a man taking our order, then letting us know food was ready for us to pick up from the counter-that’s it. The salsa bar was tapped out save for slices of lime, a salty ass green sauce and the pickled jalapenos/carrots. When we told the man it was empty he said he’d check on it but never did. The tacos 5⁄7 $ was so disappointing. Asada was bland and incredibly overcooked, carnitas was decent until all that saltiness set in. The chicken was bland and the asada fries were just… bleh. not good, not decent but bleh. Best thing we had was the soda and thats because it was canned. Never again. Waste of money. Spent 20 dollars that we could’ve stretched in LB for way better.

Best & as far as I’m concerned ONLY taco shop with the best shrimp fries ! I solely go here for those but I’ve had other food from there; breakfast burrito, pollo asada Cali burrito, tacos, they are all really good ! My family from LB come here whenever they’re in town for shrimp fries ! They changed their name but still the same owners I believe. Free chips & salsa & discounted phone orders!

This place is my go to spot for mexican food. I’ve been coming here for years and was surprised when I saw it was no longer El Robertos. I was nervous that it might not be the same. But when I walked in the same people were still working there. The food is really good. They don’t make skimpy burritos, their tacos are the best in the city, and I love their salsa bar. Whether it’s El Robertos or Leyva’s, the great food and good service are the same.

This place is still good! They make their food the way it should be… all the good fixings and none of the bs! They changed the name because the expensive franchise fees that come with having the«Roberto’s» name. I could care less what the name is, as long as they keep the food the way it is! Best taco shop around!

I just got a Cali Burrito and when I cut it in half, it has very little bit of meat, the rest is soggy fries and Multiple layers of dried and hard tortillas. I took a picture of the burrito as proof.

I’ve been to this place before they were named«Levya’s.» The name kind of cracked me up because I’ve known the word«levya» to be slang for«bitch ass motherfucker.» I might be wrong though. Anyways, their breakfast burritos are decent, and they have a solid salsa bar. I recently had their pollo asado burrito… I thought the flavor of the chicken was spot on. I’m still not sure why they switched the name of the business. There’s a sign outside that says«different name, same great taste.» If it’s the same, why the change? Oh well, doesn’t matter. Oh, and I’m editing my review to remind the other Unilocaler that reviewed this business that their review matrix is flawed. If you say that the only reason that you’re not giving Levya’s a 5 star review is because it’s not a fine-dining establishment, that’s ridiculous. Yes, it’s a taco shop, not white table cloth. When you’re reviewing an establishment on Unilocal, the 5 star rating system is relevant to the type of establishment you’re reviewing. Just trying to make it easier on you. Thank you.

I come here a lot. I normally order the California Burrito to take home after work. Staff have been very friendly. Both Jorge’s are nice.

Gave this place a try and i thought it was okay. It is honestly over priced. My carne asada fries were 9 bucks and i was expecting a huge portion. Unfortunately, they gave a really small plate. The flavor was good but i could of went to lolitas for the same price, a larger portion, and it will taste a little better. A subway 6inch combo Will probably fill you up more. If you are going to go to this taco shop for the carne asada fries, order the half portion because my co worker told me they are roughly the same size as the«full» serving

The only reason I don’t give Leyva’s 5 stars is it’s a taco shop for goodness sake! we’re not talking fine dining here. If you’re hungry for tasty Mexican on a budget this is the place for you. The same staff has run this place for years and the recent name change was only that. Carne Asada burrito is awesome and 2 meals worth for me. My kid loves the Carne asada fries. I also love the Pollo asado burrito and I get it with just Pollo, sour cream and guac! mmmmmm! My wife made up her own hangover bean and cheese(one of the best I’ve had anywhere) with guac and tortilla chips inside for crunch! love it. conveniently located and 10% off for call in and pay cash.

I used to come to this taco shop long ago when I worked across the street and it was still El Robertos. From what I can remember, it was ok, not great. It did the job when I was hungry. Now, the place looks exactly how I remember it 5 years ago. Everything is the same except the name. It’s now called Leyva’s. Not sure if it is just a new owner, new cook, but of course, you gotta give it a test run. I try the 5 mini tacos, available with carne asada, adobada, carnitas or pollo asado. I love carnitas and I can even get it with the mini tacos! Yes!!! It’s a small place. Somewhat reminiscent of a taco shop in Tijuana. There’s one cook and one lady assisting and handling orders. If you call in your order and pay with cash you get a 10% discount. Cool! Placed is packed during lunch and it’s difficult to park. Make it Togo!

Although they changed their name from El Roberto’s to Leyva’s. The staff remains the same as well as their awesome carne asada anything. We usually order either their Carne Asada Fries, Carne Asada Burrito w/guac and sour cream, California Burrito, or Fish Tacos. All are pretty freaking amazing. They know what they’re doing and have been doing it for the last 15 years I’ve frequented this establishment. I don’t remember ever having experienced an off day here. They are as consistent as can be. ***If you plan on doing take out, make sure you come strapped with cash. The 10% discount for call-in orders only applies on cash payments***

I’m surprised there’s no reviews here! I began working around the area and my coworkers told me about this place. I visited the taco shop and ordered a carne asada burrito and it was delicious! The people there are friendly and extremely fast!
