We selected Murray Lampert mostly impart due to their reviews on Unilocal despite the higher price tag we had received for the bid, we moved forward. Overall the execution of the project was fine, what happened following the project was nothing more than mediocre at best.
Several issues arose in the months following the completion of work including a leaking pipe in our new vanity, water damage to the base board outside of the shower due to an incorrectly sloped and unsealed shower. On top of all of this we had a complete sewer back up that was caused by a shop rag inadvertently left in the pipes. Murray Lampert agreed to reimburse us for the partial cost of that issue but not without severe heart ache, poor customer service, and a sour attitude. All of this and we had still actually provided them positive reviews that weren’t taken down on other sites. Fast forward to now almost a year since the project was completed and out of the blue the sales rep/​designer calls to notify us that he’s bringing a $ 4,000 bill by. Apparently they forgot to bill us for something even though we had already received our final paperwork and a statement that said paid in full. This was probably our bad for not doing their job to make sure everything was accounted for, but seems like this would be more appropriate as a hard lesson learned and I call BS on this.
Before all of the post build issues we had them bid a new project we would be doing and ultimately the way they handled the service recovery for the quality of work sealed the deal in choosing another contractor. I suggest you save yourself the heart ache and do the same, unless you expect flawless construction with no issues.

We are remodeling our house in Solana Beach which is a very hard city to remodel in. My husband and I both work and we have three children. We initially tried to work with another architect and had a very difficult time and I really felt lost and overwhelmed. We spent unnecessary money because the architect was not familiar with what was involved in the process and was hands off. I was spending tons of time at the city discussing things I didn’t really understand. In the process of looking for a contractor we met Joe from Murray Lampert. Before even meeting with us he had completely reworked the design and improved on it exponentially. He suggested doing two stories instead of one which would save our outdoor space. He came prepared with plans and estimates far beyond any of the nine other contractors we had met with. We were so impressed we decided to change from our architect to Murray Lampert construction. Man have we been happy!!! Frank, the architect, and Joe have somehow found a way to plan our dream home within our budget. Frank has been dealing tirelessly with the city of Solana Beach both in person and via email, as well as coordinating expertly with the story pole company, the drainage engineers, and all the other miscellaneous folks involved in planning. We have not started construction so we can’t speak to that side of it but regarding the substantial planning part, Murrey Lampert has been AMAZING and our stress level is much lower. (We will update this review as we go along). If you are planning to remodel in Solana Beach– don’t do it alone!

We did a whole house remodel taking a 900 square foot 70 year old bungalow and turning it into a 2 story 2100 square foot Spanish style masterpiece. Customer service was outstanding, quality of work was excellent, pricing was good and the work was done on time. I would highly recommend this company to friends and family. You put a lot of trust and faith in a contractor, there’s $ and your dream home on the line. Murray Lampert did not disappoint. They are a great team and they stand behind their work. We are so happy with our new home.

We remodeled our master bathroom. Murray Lampert was the successful bidder in a competition. I was very hard on them. Ben, Steve, Frank and their team executed very well and under budget. Quality, clean-​up, execution and productivity were high.

When you’re deciding on putting a major budget into the hands of a general contractor for a remodel, you need to do your research. If you look into the projects Murray Lampert has worked on, as I did, you’ll find very satisfied customers who are willing to offer excellent referals. Now that our house is complete, I’m able to do the same. The project came in on budget, and on time… that’s rare now-​a-​days. I don’t think you could ask any more of a contracting company than what we got… professional, proactive, and thoughtful. It’s an easy recommend.

Murray Lampert did an amazing job for our family. We added a second story with two bedrooms and two baths and couldn’t be happier. The job came in under budget and was completed a month early… yes that’s right… UNDER BUDGET AND FINISHED EARLY!
Don, our foreman, and his crew, showed up every day and worked the entire day then cleaned inside and outside, every single day! Don was full of good ideas, things we probably would have overlooked otherwise, and several of them actually saved us money.
We started our job during winter and they went out of their way to make sure our home was functional during Christmas even though the entire back of our home was wide open.
The true test came when we had a series of storms while the roof and entire back wall of the house was gone. They said they couldn’t guarantee a dry house but would do their best. Well, not a drop found it’s way into our home.
