Ahhh!!! I’m so glad to hear that you guys are still around!!! I was sad when the location in Hillcrest closed since it was within walking distance of my friends house. The next time I am in San Diego I will be stopping by!!!

I stopped in Nunzi’s new location downtown for a light brunch. I ordered off the small plate menu and settled for Nunzi’s Caprese. I was expecting tomatoes with the caprese but instead I received roasted red peppers, but that was okay because they tasted good. Although the mozzarella balls were not homemade and came from a container, they were quite good. The pesto however was house made and was very flavorful. It could of used a little extra salt though. The Caprese was served with a side of lightly toasted crostini which were perfect for eating the peppers, mozzi balls, pesto, and some of the balsamic reduction served on the plate. The crostini had a nice crunchy and mild chewy texture. Just wished she served more of it with the Caprese. The Caprese small plate was $ 8 She also offers a variety of baked goods and Italian sweets Her hours can vary given, due to events at the Civic Theater, so it would be wise to call ahead. One thing for sure, if there’s an event going on at the theater, she’s normally opened. The place is located at the old Al Teatro Panini Grill.

Still love Nunzi’s and now make the regular trip downtown instead of Hillcrest. Still eating my usual, cause if it’s not broke. I love the meatloaf! The food is just still incredible! Eat here and find out for yourself. Can’t praise this restaurant enough!

I have eaten in practically every Italian restaurant in SD. Nunzi’s is hands down the yummiest Italian food you will eat. The chef and owner Nunzi(Nancy) is an absolute magician in the kitchen.(Quick Note: Nunzi recently moved to downtown at the Al Teatro location on 3rd Ave between A and B streets. So go there!) If you are like me and you like to watch Barefoot Contessa or Giada on the Food Network and wish you could eat the delicious food they show, then you need to come to Nunzi’s. This is a hidden gem that the true foodies will fall in love with. If you come here once, you will make it your regular place. Try out all the italian courses but definitely leave room for Nunzi’s amazing hand made desserts! We are lucky to have Nunzi’s in SD.
